  • InDesign 6 not responding when adding new pages

    Hi folks,
I'm having a continuing problem that sees InDesign 6 "not responding" every time I try to add a new page or duplicate a spread on a document I'm working on.
This doesn't seem to be a problem on a new document - only on my working file, which is due at the printer tomorrow!!
Can anyone offer any advice as to what the problem may be.
Typically, I need an answer ASAP.
    many thanks
    Peter

Try exporting to .idml and working with that. See Remove minor corruption by exporting

  • Photoshop CC (2014) "not responding" at startup

    Hi,
I've just installed Photoshop CC (2014) on my MacBook Pro (Retina, 15-inch, Late 2013), running Mac OS X 10.10.2. On startup I get the "spinning wheel of death" and my CPU run up to 100%. In the "Force Quit Applications" window I get "Photoshop not responding". After about 5 min photoshop sems to work but it's very slow. I've used Photoshop CC (not the 2014 version) without problems until this morning.
Any ideas? I've already tried to disabled the GPU without any luck.
    Thanks,
    Calle

Same problem with Prmeiere, no problems with InDesign..

  • InDesign 2014cc not responding

I just purchased and installed InDesign 2014cc. So far I've used Photoshop with no problems however I am experiencing a real problem with InDesign
It all began trying to open a document I built in InDesign CS6. When I double clicked the document it automatically began launching 2014CC, not CS6. The document and pallets appear on screen but then a window pops up titled "What's New". At that point nothing more happens. It stops responding. It seems from the activity on my modem that the blank window is trying to load Adobe information online but nothing shows up in the window.
I tried calling up the computer's "force quit" window and nothing happens. The keyboard is seized up. I can move the cursor on screen but it won't allow a click on anything.
I have to force a shutdown on the computer in order to get out of InDesign. When I reboot, since InDesign was running on shutdown it automatically boots too. However, at that point I can force quit it and in the "force quit" window is states "InDesign not responding".
I'm not using any 3rd party plug-ins but the problem seems to be with the "what's new" window as the document shows up perfectly behind the window.
I'm using a Mac Pro 2 x 2.66 dual core processor (1st gen Mac Pro), OS 10.7.5 with 8GB. According to Adobe this shud run InDesign.
I know this isn't the Illustrator Forum but when I launch Illustrator 2014 CC it launches fine but the informational window which won't come up in InDesign populates with text that is twisted at a 45-degree angle! It cannot be read. Wish I knew how to disable that window.
    Anybody have any suggestions?
    Thanks,
    Tony

I have had the same problems as every one for a while now with all my Adobe products.  I thought is was my computer and almost bought a new one to fix the problem.  About the only thing that works is rebooting.  I have found that my mac email program and google seem to make the  problem worse.  I read my email and do my searches then close and reboot.  I have begun to leave my force quit window open.  I have seen that at times, programs I was not even using would (fail to respond).  It got to wondering if the computer was trying to reboot a program I was not using which caused it to slow down the program I WAS using.  I also wondered about the font activation (I use suitcase) and was about to upgrade hoping to fix the problem,  but I saw a post about the same problem with a different font controller so that cant be it.  For now I force quit what I am not using and at times either refresh the finder or go a full shutdown.  I have also tried unplugging my computer from the outside world.   I wondered if some outside source is peeking at my keystrocks phishing to send me adds I dont want. Guess as bad as it sounds I am not the only person having the same problem.  Hope we find an answer soon- this sucks

  • Indesign CS6 not responding

I have CS6 design standard, indesign stopped responding earlier in the week, I can't remove it from the dock. I've uninstalled it and reinstalled it a number of times but it still won't open. I get messages saying "You can’t open the application “Adobe InDesign CS6” because it is not responding." and "The application “Adobe InDesign CS6” is not open anymore." when I try to open it. All the other applications are working fine. I have it on my laptop and there's no problem with it there. Obviously I'd rather work on my desktop than my laptop! Also I don't want to have to go down the route of downloading and paying for the CC version when I have the software.

I don't understand what that is. I can give you all the information regarding the computer/software. Why do you need crash logs? The application isn't crashing its not responding at all

  • Indesign cs6 not responding on Mac

I am trying to open indesign on iMac sox lion but the program does not get passed the startup part then says not responding. I am using all the other applications from creative web premium and they are working fine.
    Any advice?

Did you migrate the applications from one computer to another? Migration doesn't work with InDesign. It needs to be reinstalled from the original media or backup.

  • Reinstalled InDesign does not respond

Hello, I have a new hard drive and reinstalled CSS 5.5 and while PhotoShop and Illustrator work fine, InDesign didn't respond. I removed the RecoveryData file and deleted the preferences and no luck. So, I uninstalled InDesign and reinstalled it and the same thing is happening. I can open ID but any move forces the application to "not respond." I would appreciate any help as I've been reduced to using ID 2 on an older computer. Thanks.

Have you asked other users in that forum? InDesign

  • New Mac Pro & PP CC 2014 "Not Responding" when exporting....

OK, this is a weird issue.
    Short Version:
    Project exports fine on PC
Premiere Pro CC 2014 stops responding on new Mac Pro just after clicking "Queue"
Premiere Pro CC 2014 renders the sequence fine when I click on "Export"
    Details:
I have a week old 4 core, 12 Gig ram,  Mac Pro running OSX 10.9.4 with the latest CC 2014 installed 1 week ago.
I have a  sequence (the content) with Lumetri, Ultra Key, Track Matte and Lumetri (warm). This sequence is nested into an other sequence (holds the watermark titles and branding)
The project exports and renders fine on my 5 year old i7 pc.
However on my new MacPro every time I go to export that sequence by clicking on "Queue" AME CC 2014 starts and Premiere locks up. Activity monitor show Premiere as "Not Responding"
I force quit Premiere to exit.
I don't have this issue with other video projects. I have disabled OpenCL in Premiere and AME with no different outcome.
I can export the nested sequence by it self with out any issues. If I remove the nested sequence, the main sequence exports just fine.
I have also checked and repaired disk permissions - no difference.
However, If I click on "Export" in Premiere it starts to render and Premiere Pro does not lock up.
It looks like an issue with PP handing off to AME.
How can I troubleshoot this? I need to queue up 200+ videos to render in the next month....

That statement about 4k/5k in Premiere CC with the nMP is false, insofar as performance goes.
I just tested 5K Red raw files just dragged into Premiere Pro CC (latest version). I expected this to be slow, given my HD experience. However, on my 8 core/D700, I can play 1/2 just fine, full speed. And I even can also do that with a very streneous plugin/filter attached - FilmConvert (in OpenCL mode), also at 1/2 which is quite impressive. I can even add a bunch of other Premiere filters and SG looks and it still stays at full speed at 1/2.
Ironically, this is quite faster than FCPX which can't seem to play back 5K at all with that filter attached (it doesn't stutter, but it's not smooth... low resolution at "best performace" and reduced frame rate). Even if I remove all filters FCPX plays back Red 4k (again not transcoded) about the same as CC at 1/2, but with a seemingly lower resolution to keep it smooth.  It's a head scratcher. It's like Adobe's Red handling is much better coded than Apple's in this case.
Or... it has to be attrituable to that particular plugin (other FCPX motion-based plugins don't suffer the same fate and are fast). But either way, filter or no, Premiere Pro CC is definitely and sharper looking at 1/2 when cutting Red 4k/5k with no transcode, playback in real time, than FCPX which needs to bump it down to what looks like a 1/4 or less rez to keep it smooth. So I have no idea what is going on.
This experience is the opposite with HD, where FCPX is significantly faster (using the same filters/plugin, using C300 Canon XF for HD and 4 and 5K RedRaw alternatively).  Premiere seems slower in HD than FCPX by a good amount in HD and signficantly faster with Redraw 4k. Go figure.

  • CC 2014 (Not Responding)

I am struggling with a (Not Responding) prompt in my CC 2014 applications: Illustrator, Photoshop, Acrobat, etc. It's annoying and slows my production. I have the software loaded on my computer, but my computer is networked. I am running Windows 7, have 16GB of RAM, and an NVIDIA Quatro 4400 video card.
Any thoughts on solutions would be appreciated.
    Thanks in advance.

  • InDesign Application Not Responding

I multitask a lot, but lately when I work on another application and return back to InDesign it says the application isn't responding. I'm using CS5.5 on my Mac running Mac OS X. Illustrator also does this to me, but not as often.

i have the same, but cleaning pram might help, restart with cmd-alr-p-r pressed untill you hear apple restart tone. Keep m pressed until you heard it three times.

  • Photoshop CC 2014 not responding and cannot uninstall

PS CC 2014 installed on Mac.  Recent update stopped at 74% days ago.  Tried to stop update and now it says "finishing" for the last 2 days.  PS CC 2014 won't open at all.  Tried to uninstall it and Adobe Creative Cloud but I keep getting a message that the Adobe Manger is still running and it closes me out.  This is a serious work stoppage.

Hi Donna, and welcome to the forum
I am afraid I am not familiar with Mac and OSX, but with Windows we have a Task Manager in which we can view all process currently running, and select and stop them.  If you have a similar function with OSX, you can stop the problematic process.
You can also try the Cleaner tool and the other links below

  • InDesign CS5 Not Responding When New Document is Opened

My InDesign immediately freezes and stops responding after I open a new document and move the cursor. The pinwheel appears and then eventually I have to force quit because it won't come back. I've never produced anything on this version of InDesign before -- I've opened it maybe twice since I installed the master collection last month. I'm using a 2010 macbook pro 15" with plenty of disk space. I uninstalled InDesign and then reinstalled it -- same problem. I removed the preferences and nothing worked. I have a huge project that needs to be done tonight and I am useless without InDesign! Any help would be greatly appreciated.

This is exactly what is happening to me.
"What OS are you using? Did this laptop come with Snow Leopard preinstalled, or did you install it yourself? Or are you still running 10.5? People who install 10.6 on top of 10.5 often report strange issues that are hard (or impossible) to track down and fix."
I'm using Snow Leopard, OS X 10.6.4, which came preinstalled.
It's a brand new mac so I have enough space and RAM. I already uninstalled the whole suite 3 times and reinstalled it. InDesign still crashes. Then I went a step further and installed my friend's adobe suite with my serial number. The InDesign still crashed. So it must be my computer? I took it to a department tech at my college and he wants to wipe the harddrive clean and see if that helps. But I'm really anxious to do that and want it to be a last resort...

  • InDesign CS5 not responding

I have document size of 55 MB and has 52 pages with text and pictures. But when I try to delete or insert pages the programms stops responding. We have tried to edit this document on different computers (bigger RAM or videocart) but it will bring us to same result.
How can we resolve this issue? Because this document will be updating annualy.

That size seems large for a .indd file. Does it have a lot of embedded image content or complex pasted vectors?
The first thing you should try is a Save As to a new file name. This will remove old and useless change data from previous editing. If that is not sufficient to solve the problem, the next step is an export to .idml (see Remove minor corruption by exporting). If that still does not work we're going to need to know your OS before we can tell if there is any kind of error reporting that would be avaialable for diagnosis.

  • Photoshop CC 2014 not responding mac

I have installed Photoshop CC 2014 on my new Macbook Pro Retina. On launch of the application it will load but as soon as I do anything (change tools, try to make new file, etc..) I  get the spinning beach ball and the program freezes. I have to force quit to get out. I have uninstalled and reinstalled several times. Nothing seems to work. In fact I have Illustrator, Photoshop and After Effects installed (all 2014). And Illustrator is the only one that works.  After Effects doesn't make it past the splash screen (loading mediacore). Very frustrating. Attached is a screen shot of my Macs specs.  Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

I would then look at Folder Permissions:
In the Finder menu click and hold on the GO menu. Hold the option button and the User library will show up. Click the User Library.
In that folder go to Preferences and find the Adobe folder.
Right click on Adobe folder and click Get Info.
In the Sharing & Permissions section there should be three names.
All should say Read & Write next to them.
Unlock the lock, switch them all to Read and Write.
Then click on the little gear directly under the names or to to the left of the lock and in the pulldown click on "Apply to enclosed items".
    Then lock the lock again.

  • Reinstalled InDesign is "Not Responding"

Hello, my new MacBook Pro hard drive crashed. Apple replaced it and I reinstalled CSS 5.5. Photoshop and Illustrator work fine, but InDesign won't open docs or allow me to create a new doc. The application asks me to recover files and I've hit both Yes, No and Cancel. Should I reinstall? Any other insights? Thanks so much.

You may have to, butfirst try a couple of things.
The current behavior is fairly typical of having corrupt recovery info. Locate and empty or rename your InDesign Recovery folder in your user library. This is probably a hidden folder, so see Access hidden user library files | Mac OS 10.7 Lion
    Then see Replace Your Preferences
    and finally, restart ID.
