CFDocument and trouble converting to pdf

Hello,
I'm simply trying to convert a word doc to .pdf using CF9. But when I try it, I get the following error...
500 - Internal server error.
There is a problem with the resource you are looking for, and it cannot be displayed.
Also, coldfusion services seem to go down for a few moments (i can't render any coldfusion pages on the server) and then after a few moments the CF services are back.
What could be causing this???
Here is the simple code I am using...

Now if I take out the srcfile section of the tag and hard code text into the cfdocument, it works with no problem???

I hope someone can shead some light on this?

Is OpenOffice installed on your machine? I believe this is a requirement to work with Word files in CF9.

Trouble converting a PDF to spreadsheet, 30 hours and counting...

i have been trying to convert a 9MB pdf into a spreadsheet and have had nothing but problems with the exportPDF product. The first 6 times i would get an error message after 15 or so minutes. now i tried it again and it has been saying it is "converting file to excel using Adobe export PDF on line. I started this at 11:30am on Thursday, its now 8:00pm Friday! Is anything going to happen? I've been on hold with the "tech" line for over an hour and a half now. this is absolutely terrible customer service. is my file even going to get converted at this point?

Please let me know if you are facing this issue with every PPT file or any specific one.
Could you find Acrobat ribbon in the menu bar? What happens when using this option?
Also, please refer the KB link and try out troubleshooting PDFMaker problems whose link is given as follows:

In addition, please check if Adobe PDF printer is set as default printer under 'Start> Devices and Printers'
If yes, then right click on the ppt file icon and choose 'Convert to Adobe PDF' from the context menu.

I see that you have an ExportPDF subscription. Have you tried converting your PDF files, and found that the results aren't what you expect?
When you convert a PDF file to Word, the ExportPDF service does its best to match the font used in the PDF with one available in its font library. But, you don't get to choose a font for conversion. So, you could simply reformat the text in Word once the file has been converted.
As for converting a image of text (say, from a scanned document) from PDF to Word, that process actually happens with the ExportPDF service. It performs OCR (optical character recognition) by default. (You can disable OCR if you convert via Word, but not if you convert via the website).

I just purchased Adobe and it converted my pdf with symbols, spaces, and blank "context Not readable"

I purchased abode and it isn't converting my pdf into Word. It made gaps, symbols, columns bleed into the other column, and some blank context. I thought acrobat was included. Here is an example below. Let me know if this will be fixed? I don't want to pay for something that isn't working correctly.

The quality of a conversion depends on the quality of the PDF file you start with. Do you know how your PDF file was created (from a scanned document, using software other than Acrobat?). Please see: Will Adobe ExportPDF convert both text and formatting inf…
You may have better luck by disabling OCR as outlined in this document: How to disable Optical Character Recognition (O... | Adobe Community. (Note, however, that isn't a good option if your PDF was created from a scanned document and doesn't contain editable text).
If you decide that ExportPDF isn't going to work out for you, please let us know and we will take care of canceling it for you.

How to correctly and automatically convert a pdf having tables with embedded figures to MS Word format?

I'm a language translator. My source files are very often pdf's containing huge tables with hundreds of embedded figures as well as text. So far, I've been unable to find a way to automatically convert such a structure to MS Word format. When selecting the table, the figures do not copy. Figures can be selected and copied only one at a time. Tried Reader, tried Acrobat, tried third party software like ABBYY PDF Transformer+ to no avail. Is there a way to do it?

Ascii to PDF using word or PDF template and then converting the pdf to a PDF form

We are planning to restructure the whole PDF generation process in our application.. We use ASCII files to provide the data feed..Is it possible to create PDF files out of them with a pre defined Template and then to make that PDF editable with some form fields.. ??Is PDF generator capable of handling this or should we be looking for some other livecycle product..?? Kindly help us in this regard..

The Process goes like this:
ASCII file for data feed ----> template file -----> PDF file with form fields generated.. ---> Reader extention rights given to the Form fields for the end users to save the forms using Adobe reader..

Converting PDF Forms to Word and Then Back to PDF with Forms In Tact

Hello,
We are currently having a heck of a time replacing some keywords in a collection of about a thousand PDF forms. These forms were created in Word without any interactive functionality and then converted to PDF. The simple form interactions were then added using Acrobat.
We figured out a way to replace all of the keywords by converting the PDF to Word, and then running a Visual Basic macro that does a Find and Replace on all of the documents at once. Our problem is that we lose the functionality of the forms when we convert them to Word. The docs have to be converted back to PDFs, and putting in all of the form interactivity in each file would take far longer than we have.
Is there a better way to go about this than we're attempting?
Is there a way to do these conversions and keep the interactive forms?
We essentially want the forms to behave exactly as they did, just with a few keywords changed.

Convert to PDF and Email crashes

Hi,
Encountered this problem when I right click on a word file and select "Convert to PDF and Email". It will always crashes with the error "Adobe Elements had stopped working" and the message indicating something to do with ADIST.DLL.
Had tried the followings but still the error persists.
1. Uninstall/reinstall Acrobat Pro XI. Had deleted anything related to "Adobe" including Flash player and still no avail.
2. Update the version to 11.0.07 and still the error is there.
3. Only happens when converting Word 2010 documents. Excel, Outlook and others are fine.
4. Valid licensed product from Adobe
5. Tried renaming the "Adobe Elements" folder and does not work at all.
6. Tried registering ADIST.DLL but encountered error.
I am running on a Win 7 Pro 64 bit PC and due to this error, when i try using mail merge with a word doc, it also crashes. Anyone can assist on this? Many thanks in advance!

Crashes with distiller are pretty rare. Fonts can cause distiller to crash. A bad graphic in a file can cause distiller to crash. Maybe a corrupt job options file. Create a simple text file (one page), no graphics. Use the Times New Roman font. Print to Adobe PDF instance. Does the error still happen?

It could be that the PDF file you're converting was created using a third-party application, and it doesn't contain all the information necessary to ensure a clean conversion. Have you had similar troubles converting other PDF files?

Keep failing converting a PDF to w word document

It's been days that I'm having trouble converting a PDF file into a word document...A message keeps popping saying that an "error has occurred which stopped the processing of the PDF.

I'm sorry to hear that you're having trouble converting your file. It sounds like the issue is with one particular file, is that correct? How large is that file? Are you converting via the ExportPDF web interface or via Reader?
It may be that the file is too complex to convert before the ExportPDF service times out. For starters, please try clearing the browser cache, and logging back in the https://cloud.acrobat.com. Any luck?

CANNOT convert to PDF for Adobe Acrobat 9 Pro

When I try to convert a word file to pdf, after completed process, it prompts out a txt file which only included the path of the pdf file located. However, there is no such pdf file in that location instead the txt file mentioned above.
I couldn't understand it work fine when I just save file at local PC but remote network driver do not.

It's very strange. It works again. By the way, I still want to explain my case.
I usually select Adobe PDF printer to convert doc to pdf or just right the doc file and select "convert to pdf" from the menu.
Actually, during converting process, there is a status bar/menu showing the process. When it is compeleted, the status bar/menu closed itself.
Finally, a txt file prompt out. It contains the path of pdf file stored.
However, there is no such pdf created.
I guess there maybe a problem for not using Adobe installation login account. ????

Handwriting in Office 2007 wont convert to pdf file, Acrobat Pro 9

Im using Acrobat pro 9 and Office 2007.
I have a word 2007 file with handwriting in it, when I right click on the file and select "convert to pdf", it convert the file without the handwritting.
The strange thing is that in word 2007, if I choose to print the document with the adobe pdf printer, the pdf created that way keeps the handwriting.
Why does the right click option to convert the file drops the handwriting???
Other strange thing, when I was using Office 2003 the problem wasn't there.

Using pdfmaker 9 in office 2007 uses a different method to create a pdf. Older versions would use a print route (Like printing to the adobe pdf printer but including extra features)
Can you post a sample Word file using your favourite file hosting service, or acrobat.com?

Problems converting to PDF?

I am converting the report documentation into PDF. It all works fine but the print format from PDF is very very small. I am not using SMARTFORMS but rather calling FM to get the report documentation and then converting into PDF.
