Change a numeric value to a date field

If someone could please help I would appreciate to know how to change a numeric value to date value. Example: I ave a number 20080312 and I would likefor the field to read as follows in a date format, 03/12/08. i am not sure how to convert.

    Hi Venuthurupalli,
    As valery has said once you select the value to be of type integer,once you perform an action it will be validated and error message that non numeric characters are there will be shown. If you want to set additional constraints like max value, min value etc you can use simple types for it.
    On the project structure on left hand side under local dictionary ->datatypes->simple types create a simple type of type integer
    The attribute which you are binding to value property ;make its type as simple type which you made

  • Searching for numeric values in a text field / SQL Server

    Hi all,
    here's a problem that I've been trying to solve for several days: I try to select rows from an MS SQL Server via JDBC that contain a certain numeric value at a certain position in a long varchar field.
    I'm using queries like
    select * from table where substring(field_1, 37, 7) like '1011234';Those queries always return an empty ResultSet. If I use the same queries in WinSQL, I get correct results (several rows).
    The application code is working in principle; if I search for a text instead of a numeric value, for example select * from table where substring(field_1, 4, 5) like 'Paper'; , I get a complete ResultSet.
    I've tried many variations (= instead of like, search in the entire field (without substring but with like '%1011234%'), with or without ', and more), but that didn't change anything.
    It's also most probably not caused by the JDBC driver; I have tried JTDS first, and then the MS driver (newest versions) - no difference.
    One idea was that the sort order is not correct, tried some COLLATE settings, but that didn't help so far. In this context I'd like to know how to determine the collation sequence of a certain column.
    Another thing I tried was using CAST, for example SELECT * FROM table WHERE CAST(SUBSTRING(field_1, 37, 7) as bigint) = CAST('1011234' as bigint); or SELECT * FROM table WHERE CAST(SUBSTRING(field_1, 37, 7) as bigint) = CAST(1011234 as bigint);, but that didn't help either.
    Some facts:
    Server: Microsoft SQL Server, version 09.00.2047
    Driver in WinSQL: SQLSRV32.DLL, version 03.85.1117
    JDBC-Driver:
    - JTDS, version 1.2
    - Microsoft SQL Server 2005 JDBC Driver, Version 1.2
    JVM: jre1.5.0_11

    Your note suggests to me that this is a coding problem, not a JDBC or SQL problem unless you are hitting a bug in the SQL Server JDBC driver. Others may have ideas from what you have written, but I think it would be helpful to see the actual code that you are executing that does not bring back the results that you are expecting (don't forgot to use code tags to format your code correctly).
    It might also be helpful to execute a query (from within your Java code) to ensure that you are connecting to the right database, accessing the correct table and that your substring is using the correct offset. The query would look something like this (and then of course display the list of results):
    SELECT substring(field_1, 37, 7) from table

    I've been searching for some info about averages in OO Alv grid lists but cannot find an answer to what I'm really need. The question is that, for getting an average, a 'C' value must be set in the field DO_SUM of the fieldcatalog structure for a field.
    Now, the problem is that I need the average of a date field (in 'normal' date format). I've tried it several times and read a lot of things but cannot find a real answer: Could it be done the average of a date field (e.g. for dates 01.05.2009, 02.05.2009 and 03.05.2009 the average is 02.05.2009).

  • Is it possible to change the way SAP stores a DATE field ?

    I have a scenario here where I have to read from a file and then upload the contents to a custom table.
    The file is comprised of several lines, each line being formatted to accomodate several fields, according to their length specifications. It's the "standard" string style to import/export files from one system to another.
    My question is: one of these fields is a date field, and I am required to order the table, afterwards, by this date field. I notice it comes as DDMMYYYY, and my SORT is not working. If I use, on the other hand, dates in YYYYMMDD format, the SORT works perfectly.
    Does SAP expects the date to come as YYYYMMDD ? Is there a way I can change this "default" format ?

    Yes, SAP expects the date to come as YYYYMMDD, this is the internal format.
    I am not sure you will be able to change the default DATS format to something else.
    Other internal date format : GDATU as in table TCURF.
    Sugestion : use offsets to convert original date to internal date format and keep doing your SORT as you already did.

  • Passing null value to a Date field in OPA

    We are using Determinations server of OPA.
    I have created OPA web service proxy classes and using java client class for calling methods of OPA web service.
    Webcenter calls OPA web service for validating business logic. There is a Date field in OPA which is not mandatory, if web service is called with date value, logic is working fine, else if we pass null value or ignore setting Date value all conclusion of the rule is becoming false.
    for example :
    If agreement exists, pass agreement expiry date.
    Setting Input attributes if date is not null:
    global.setAGREEMENTEXPDATE(new DateAttributeType());
    global.getAGREEMENTEXPDATE().setDateVal(xmlGrogerianCalendar);
    if there is no agreement, pass null for agreement expiry date
    we are not setting Date attribute and sending request to the server
    Is it need to pass Attribute if it is not mandatory and has no value?
    If yes, how to pass null value?
    Please help on this.

    All optional parameters needs to be send to the OPA Determination Server, if value is not known then that attribute should be set to the "Uncertain" value as shown below.

  • Lowest value from 2 date fields combined

    Morning!
    Need a way to combine two separate date fields to determine the lowest combined value. The idea being finding an empno's overall seniority by looking at seniority date and birthdate, birthdate settles the tie in the event two empno's have the same seniority date.
    Can't find a way to do this using two date fields, only a single date field.
    I also need a way to continue finding the next empno in seniority after that, and so on. Need to increment some value or get the nextval somehow to find the next highest in seniority until the entire table has been reviewed.

    Field values: vchar, vchar, vchar, date,date,date,date-time,vchar
    Examples in above order: 36525,smith,bob,08-jun-80,23-sep-60,15-mar-10,14:00,1
    The idea is that we assign (1) single day per month per employee of overtime based on seniority, and in case of a tie the birthdate settles seniority. Employees make more than one request per month so their empno appears in the table multiple times. Also a single empno can ask for one of two start times per requested day. At most, a single employee can make requests for any one of (12) days per month, on days Sun-Thu they can ask for one of (2) start times and on Fri-Sat they can ask for one of 3 start times. The "choice" field lets them indicate start time in order of preference.
    On each day on each start time, (2) different people work together, so for days 1-5 there are (2) shifts of (2) people each, total of (4) people assigned per day 1-5 and (6) people assigned on days 6-7.
    The needed output is that for Sunday-Thursday (2) people start at 14:00 and another (2) start at 18:00.
    On Friday-Saturday (2) people start at 14:00, (2) people start at 18:00 and (2) people start at 20:00.
    The idea for the report would be:

    Each person may only work one day per month. In the event that there is a hole where no one put a request in, we need to go back over the remaining requests to fill them in. The original idea was to do this by:
    All choice #1 first, then start over looking at choice #2 and so on until all the days in the upcoming month are full.
    That's about the best I can explain it. The only way I can see is to do it by seniority and choice# then go around again if there's a hole. I just can't figure out how to look at both the seniority date and birthdate to ensure seniority nor can I figure the logic necessary to find the person, check if the spot is available and assign him or if not go to his next preference for that day and check if it's available and then continue to the next guy.
    It may have been simpler to explain the need in detail and ask that the structure and code be done from scratch but that's asking way too much so I thought I'd ask how to solve this problem and keep working on it from there.

  • How can I validate numeric values in a text field?

    Once more I have a problem.
    I have a field in which the user should enter 10 digits in the pattern 999999-9999. The field must only contain numeric data and must be exactly 10 characters. I have a validation script on the print button, that prevent printing if required fields are empty or not properly filled out.
    I have tried two ways to work this out, and I'm not satisfied with any of them, as I can still print despite of validation scripts and warning messages.
    1.
    I set the field to numeric, limited to 11 characters.
    Display pattern num{999999-9999}, edit pattern num{999999-9999} and validation pattern num{999999-9999}
    Problems using this solution: When I type 11 digits in the field (ex.12345612345) I get a warning message and 12.345.612.
    But when I type 9 digts (ex. 123456-123 or 123456123) I get no warning message and 000000-0000 or 012345-6123
    If I type alphabetical characters (ex. 123456-abcd) I get no warning message and 000000-0000.
    2.
    I set the field to text field, limited to 11 characters.
    Display pattern text{999999-9999}, edit pattern text{999999-9999} and validation pattern text{999999-9999}
    Now when I type 11 digits in the field (ex.12345612345) I get no warning message and 12345612345.
    When I type 9 digts (ex. 123456-123) I get no warning message and 123456-123
    When I type 9 digts (ex. 123456123) I get a warning message and 123456123

    I have a fillable PDF, and the values displayed when rolling the pointer over a fillable text field are showing some strange values.  I inherited this form from someone who is no longer with the company.  I need to be able to change the values but can't figure out how.  I'm new to LiveCycle so any help is greatly appreciated.

    When you click on the field, right click to properties.  If the tab isn't there then go to the top toolbar, click on Window and it should appear in the list there.  Once you click on it in the Window menu it will appear as a tab on your properties box.

    I am in EST zone and I could see the data in database with date columns having time in PST. One of my transaction just errorred , I could see from B2B user interface tool error report message date time as 2:14 EST, while when I check the database values from TOAD the value is 11:14, which indicates there is some setup which might have caused to update Pacific Time in the database, I am not sure what could be the setup. Can anyone please indicate or provide inputs on what could be the cause and how to set up the application so that the date type data is updated with local time in database.

    We are using the standard Oracle TeleSales ASTCDDTL.fmb form 12.0.6 version. In that form, a field called "Type of School" is associate with the look up "HZ_TYPE_OF_SCHOOL". Now we need to customize the field to list down our list of countries (list of countries through a query of value set). Is there any way in Form Personalization we can achieve this? i.e changing the already associated look up type to a query or a custom value set?
    Appreciate your help on this!

    I searched this solution in SDN and SAP HELP but I found the solution, so I created this post.
    I have a select options:
    SELECT-OPTIONS: s_asnum  FOR asmd-asnum
    If I insert value 3000111 , then my internal table show 000000000003000111  (ok its wright)
    If I insert value 30001*1 , then my internal table show  30001*1 (its my problem , because i NEED 0000000000030001*1 to my select work)
    How can I change my select option 30001*1  to  0000000000030001*1.

    can't you ask your user to fill the zeros? or search by *30001*1?
    try  CONVERSION_EXIT_ALPHA_RANGE_I
    If it doesn't work you'll have to fill left zeros yourself in code.

  • Changing numerical values in any object not working correctly

    I'm trying to create new parts and I want to adjust things like hole diameter, body length, offset height.
    When I go to change the numerical values......I highlight the numbers and start typing my new value and it just adds random numbers to the fields....
    The only way I can change the number is to click and highlight the digit and type the single number I want.
    So if 24.00000 is in the field and I want 1456.342455 I have to click on each digit of the 24.00000 and alter it ONE DIGIT AT A TIME to get my 1456!!!!!!!!!!!!
    This happens for board wizard, component wizard......anything that requires the changing of the numberical value is completely messed up.
    What is going on here......all the basic functionality seems to be completely screwed up........I can't get anything done with all this bug chasing and interference.

    Yes... in multiple numeric fields (especially the ones that are applying changes in the background while you type) typing the number becomes unefficient... I do know that R&D is working on this.
    Currently (if it helps) you can select all the number, type the digits before the punctuation, then hit the "." mark, and then move the cursor to the precision digits. This is what I currently do.
