Change single user to multi user

Hi,
I put the database ABC in single user mode through SSMS, now when I am changing back it to multi user, I get below error
Msg 1205, Level 13, State 68, Line 1
Transaction (Process ID 127) was deadlocked on lock resources with another process and has been chosen as the deadlock victim. Rerun the transaction.
Msg 5069, Level 16, State 1, Line 1
ALTER DATABASE statement failed.
127 is my own session.
Please help me

Hi,
I restarted the database and was able to get rid of deadlock , but I am still confused how was the deadlock when no other session was in the database, there were other connections to master database.
Also let me know how can I check and remove the deadlock?

Probably taking it Offline would have worked i assume.Deadlock is not possible if only one transaction is there multiple transaction are required/involved .As suggested by article provided by me there must be some other request coming from application or
from other users who have logged in .Did you searched ? tried using DMV to find out ?
If you say' yes I did but did not find anything ', I would not believe you.regarding how to resolve deadlock please search on net you will get many good articles.without seeing deadlock graph one cannot comment.
Also its brave decision to take database single user ,before we do we make sure app is not accessing DB,no other job is running which is accessing DB. Any background process is using DB should be either killed or rolled back then we proceed with keeping
DB in single user mode.

SPD 2010 Workflow "Collect Data From User" activity + Multi User selection

Creating a SPD 2010 workflow. Trying to do something that I think should be simple.
Use a “Collect Data From a User” activity to collect 0 to many “people” that should be affiliated with a piece of content (Discussion).
After the assigned user completes the task (and after ensuring that there have actually been people associated from the task) I want to take the “people” from the Task list item and move them over to a field on the core Discussion item,
that is also setup as a Person/Group field (allowing multiple).
I have tried using both the “Set Field in Current Item” and “Update List Item” activities to map the data over (pulling from the Task item) and in both cases tried using every combination of “Return field as”
values to do the mapping (i.e. ‘String’, ‘Display Names, Semicolon Delimited’, ‘User Ids, Semicolon Delimited’, etc). In some cases I get vague errors about not being able to do mapping (I get it), in others, it sets the
data, but only to the first user entered in the Task’s instance of the field.
After researching a bit, I find that the task from which I am pulling the data only contains one value, eventhough when I submitted the InfoPath form for the task, it accepted my data entry of two
different users. So I think somewhere between the data entry into the custom task's infopath form, and the update of the same data field in the Task list, the value is being lost.
I am sure this would be trivial with a custom activity, but we are exploring OOB ways of doing things and I have to imagine this is possible.
Am I missing something here? This seems “buggy”…
I am able to repro this in two different environments, using an out-of-box Discussion Board on an out-of-box Team Site. If it matters Claims Based Auth against Windows only...

Collect Data from a user action can only use to collect data from one user, and if you need to collect data from one than one user, please use “Assign
a Form to a Group” instead, then it will create separate task for each user.
And if we need to update a user and group field which with multiple selections enabled, we can only use lookup field to get only the one user. And
to add multiple users to this field, we can only use String Builder, type the user account directly or get information from multiple fields.

I find problem in my under graduate project and I waste more than 36 days to solve it but without result >
I want make join between dba_users and table like(documents) and this idea like e-mail system , one user sends document to other and 3 users can see this document itself they are dba , receptive and (unnecessary who send it) .

I'm not sure exactly what you are asking. InDesign files can be edited by only a single user at one time, but any user can open a file not already in use.

what is the diff betweeen single user and multi user installationSingle user installation is having one user who owns all the application/database tier files. When you do an installation, you run RapidWiz as this user.
Multi-user installation is having two different users (applmgr user who owns the application tier files, and oracle user who owns the database tier files). When you do the installation, you run RapidWiz as root user.
On Windows, you cannot have multi-user installation. So, the above is valid on Unix/Linux.

please let me know advantages and disadvantages also .I always prefer multi-user installation as you just source the application/env file in the user's profile (in the applmgr/oracle profile) and the file is sourced once you login as that user. For single user installation, you will have to be sure that you source the proper env file manually each time you want to switch between the application and the database (just imagine if you try to shutdown/startup the database after sourcing the application env file, or trying to use any database executable file like export/import/sqlplus ..etc, you will end up using the application tier executable files).

Shared calendar items in multi-user calendar view

Hi!
I have another question:
The new multi-user Calendar-view is great - but we have one thing, which
is confusing to our users:
User A has a shared calendar (the owner of this shared calendar is User
B). It is clear, that User A can see appointments of this shared
calendar in his "main Calendar" if this shared calendar is "enabled".
But User A cannot see the calendar items of this foreign shared
calendar, if he changes to the new multi-user - view.
Does this work as designed or is it a bug?

Does User A also have read proxy rights to User B's calendar?

SMF and multi-user service not running

Hi,
I have an issue with several services not starting ...
As you can see, the multi-user services is "offline*" And it remains like this...
I've recently patched the system hoping it would resolve this issue, but no luck. Restarting the server does not help.

Reason: Start method is running.The start method of milestone/multi-user is responsible for (among other things), running all the /etc/rc2.d scripts. If you've placed a startup script in there and it's hanging, you'll see this behavior. From memory, I think there's a 30 minute timeout before it gives up and continues.
During the problem period, you probably want to do a 'ps -ef | grep rc' and look for any rc scripts running. That will probably point to a startup script hanging.

That was the problem. A hung script in rc2.d/
What is odd, is that this script is the same on many of our machines and no problems have been found until now. Thanks for your help. Killing that processes made everything start properly.

How to make extension available for all users in a multi user environment

In a multi-user environment, a user install a dreamweaver extension,but just the user who install the extension can use it.
Is there a way that administrator install the extension and make this extension available for other users in multi-user environment(e.g. the Windows 7)

Dreamweaver had this capability many releases ago, but it has been dropped, so it's no longer available.

Set Database Back to Multi User from Single User

I am using SharePoint Services 3.0 (SP1) with default configuration options, which installs the Microsoft##SSEE instance of SQL to my local C:\ drive.
While attempting to relocate the files to another drive, I set one of the databases (as recommended) to Single User by using the SQL Server Management Express tool.
I cannot now reset that database to Multi User, even by executing the query
exec sp_dboption 'database_name', 'single user', ''FALSE'
again by using the Management Express Tool.
Can someone please help, in plain english???? Thanks

I have similar issue.
I have took backup of WSUS (Windows Server 2002 R2) Windows internal database using SQL Server 2008 Management Studio and restored on Windows Server 2012 R2 Server.
Now SUSDB database was in Single User mode. I have tried ALTER DATABASE <<Database Name>> SET MULTI_USER WITH NO_WAIT and i'm getting blow error.
Msg 5069, Level 16, State 1, Line 1
ALTER DATABASE statement failed.
How i can change it Multi User?

Errors while Changing the Database to Mutli User Mode from Single user mode in SQL Server 2012

Good Afternoon :). Need your help in resolving one of the issue with SQL Server 2012.
Today, we kept one of the database in the Single User mode and wanted to bring back to Multi User mode. But we are getting the below error. There are no user sessions connected to this database which are blocking each other. I see multiple
SYSTEM sessions are in blocked state.  The blocking is not cleared even affter restarting the SQL services.
Verified the SQL Server Errorlog and couldnt get much useful information to troubleshoot the issue.

Changing License from sing.le to multi user

Hello,
I recently bought iWork 08 for my wife's iMac.
I would like to install it on my G5 but would need a Multi user License.
Is there an "Online" way to do so ?

Unfortunately, no. You can generally return unopened software within 10-14 days, but there is no way to "upgrade" a single-user license.

Architectural Help - Converting Single-User DB to Multi-User

I have a single-user database running in Java 1.4. I want to convert it to a multi-user database targeted at really small (no way they can buy Oracle) groups. I have a lot of expertise in the old way (file/record locking, avoiding deadly embrace, etc.) but don't think this is right for Java.
What would be a good Java architecture for such a small DBMS? Initially it would be fine to just run a server on a network, tho longer-term it would be great if the solution extended to a remote server on the net. J2EE is not in the cards unless its absolutely required.

Here's the issue. The user is viewing a list of names (customers or whatever). Names are physically stored in the order entered; logically viewed sorted on last name, then first. The user drags the elevator car two thirds of the way down. Now what?
Using SQL-based anything, you're pretty much forced to query the table for the whole result set; keep it in memory and then scroll off that. Suppose you have lots of names - 100K or more. This goes dead slow. Worse, in real applications your names will be inner-joined to maybe several other tables so the problem really multiplies.
See MS Access for a good example of how bad this can be. I've got one where the user clicks the down arrow on a combo box and then waits two minutes (actual, measured with my own watch, wait time) for the list to appear. Ugh.
I've created an indexing method I call the b++tree, which makes it perfectly simple to respond to that user action: goto( 66000 ); getNext( 20 ). If my calculations are correct, that goto() should happen in a single disk read and about ten millis.

Several users on a single file issue: Hosting a multi user Quickbooks file on the WD EX4

Hello everyone. This is going to sound like a super specific third party support issue - but there are some universal things going on here that may help others regarding multiple users of individual files on the EX4. My company houses client and billing files on the EX4. It's all been well and good until we recently allowed multi-user access to our Quickbooks company file. Of course the goal is to have multiple employees working on the file at the same time from different computers. We purchased licenses for each - everything is on the up and up. Whereas I could access the company file on the EX4 with no problems on my computer as a single user, now as soon as I turn on multiuser mode in QB to allow others to access the file on the EX4, the file becomes inaccessible. What do you guys think is happening where one user access to a file on the EX4 is fine, but multiuser access causes the file to be inaccessible? How do you fix it? Other thoughts, there doesn't seem to be a limitation on the EX4 relating to multiple people accessing the same file - streaming the same song for example. So why would a billing database file be any different? Especially when the licenses and program allow that access. Here's more info, if I host the file on my desktop computer everyone can access it in multiuser mode over the network. The limitation is the WD EX4. What do you think is going on? (I'd appreciate any insight as I am talking to both tech support teams, QB and WD, this week.)

It states: Error H101, H202, H303, or H505: when opening your company file When you open a company file in multi-user mode, you see an error:You're trying to work with a company file located on another computer, and this copy of QuickBooks can't reach the server on that computer (H202).You're trying to work with a company file located on another computer, and that computer needs additional installation and setup. (H101, H303, and H505).It appears that the QuickBooks software on computer [server name] is set up to allow shared connections to the company file, but the QuickBooks software on your computer is unable to communicate with it. (H202).Most often it's an H202 error which suggests that the program can't reach the server on that computer (NAS location). Why would the NAS location become invisible / unreachable once multi-user mode is on? I really appreciate your expert brainstorm and ideas.

Having multiuser access requires that everyone share the Domain file where iWeb keeps its data and that each person only use the latest version of it. Of course each user must also have a Mac and iWeb installed as well. Personally I would stick with blogspot.
