Change/Upgrade MiFi Plan

Hi,
Maybe someone out in the community can help me.
Last August 2010 at the recommendation of my neighbor across the street I dumped Hughes.net as my internet provided and went with Verizon MiFi ..initially the service was great but then it began to deteriorate and I have come to find that my primary location is sometimes "in the cloud" per a Verizon cust service rep and I am at the cusp of having service - in fact she told me that I shouldn't even have been given a plan because I am so much in the "cloud" - Bit I digress, that is not my question/query..
Last month the same neighbor who recommended Verizon to me sent out an email saying that Verizon had a "new plan" that you could upgrade to for free (old plan 59.99 for 5GB and .05 per meg thereafter) which would be $50. for 5GB and then $10. per 1GB thereafter. They even had an upgrade to 10GB for $80. which I was considering.
Anyhow, my neighbor has already upgraded and has gotten his first bill under the new plan.
When I went to upgrade Verizon told me that I could not because my MiFi was a 3G device and this upgrade was only for 4G devices. I told them about my neighbor, they didnt care and it "says in the computer you are not eligible"..
I called my neighbor and he said he had no problem upgrading to the new plan, Verizon didnt say anything about no 3G or 4G device and he had his Verizon service months before I got mine.
Can anybody she any light on this??
Thanks in advance
Mike

Hi Robinpich,
Thank you for your posting! I can assist you with the pricing options for the MiFi devices. Your posting mentions you have the 5GB plan for $50.00 per month. We do offer a 10GB plan for $80.00 per month. This gives you twice the usage each month and would be a good option for you if you exceed the 5GBs offered in your plan.
You are able to change your MiFi plan online, by logging in to your My Verizon account as the Account Holder number at http://www.verizonwireless.com . You can even backdate the plan to the beginning of your current billing cycle, in case you have exceeded the 5GBs. You will be given this option when changing your plan.
Below I have provided the steps on how to change your plan online.
Sign in to My Verizon.
Locate the I Want To... section.
In the PLAN column, click Change Plan.
Select Change to a different plan.
Click OK. The Change Your Calling Plan page displays.
Do one of the following: Note
Choose at least one line to change and select Continue.
I hope this information is helpful and assists you with a resolution with your MiFi device. Have a good day!

I changed my data plan from 6g to 8g while my daughter who attends college outside of the US at Toronto Canada (and we have on a international calling and international data plan) was on spring break at her grandparents house here in the US. I made the change online since I had been waiting on the phone for over 10 minutes for a customer service rep to come available. Well when I made the change online since that seems to be the thing that Verizon wants it's customers to do and I didn't see all the different plans available and just did the upgrade to 8g. Next bill had over $900 in roaming charges on her phone line. I called the 1-800 number and waiting for a service rep and after 20 minutes of waiting and being put on hold was told it was the customers mistake and there was nothing they could do.Thanks for nothing. I called back after thinking about it and wondered why changing a data plan for the phones in the US would change a international call plan. Waiting over 10 minutes again between waiting for a service rep and hold for one to answer the call. Gave her all the information about it and she said she would call back. Well, 4 days later over the weekend she had nevered called back. So on the phone again for the third time and after 20 plus minutes again was told that when I did it online I click the plan that didn't include international call only the data plan. Explained that I never saw the difference in the plan packages so put on hold again and was told that they could credit $100 to my bill. Wow, thanks alot !!! We have been Verizon customers for probably atleast 12 years and this is how you treat your long term customers?

  • I was penalized with overage charge for upgrading my plan online

I just switched from AT&T in Oct and signed up with the 700 min Family plan. In Nov, I realized I was going to go over the limit if I don't upgrade my plan. So I went online and upgraded my plan to 1400 min Family plan. When I looked at my current bill yesterday, I was surprised to see there was a $102 overage charge on my bill. I talked to a representative yesterday and asked her to explain about the overage charge. She said because I upgraded the plan online (on demand), my 498 used min were prorated which resulted in 227 min overage.
I said the reason for my upgrading the plan was to avoid overage. I did not exceed the 700 min in my old plan and I was not aware I am only allowed 25 min a day if I change my plan in the middle of the billing cycle. I can understand the proration of my monthly access charge (from $70 to $90 per month) but I don't understand the proration of used min. I pay for 700 min per month not 25 min a day. She offered me a 25% discount of the overage charge which I did not accept.
I called VZW this morning and talked to a different representative. I asked her if I would have upgraded my plan by talking to a representative instead of doing it myself online, will I incur the overage charge. She said the representative would have backdated the change which would avoid the overage charge. I asked her was it fair that because I tried to save VZW resources of not utilizing the time of a customer representative and going online to upgrade the plan myself, I incurred a penalty in the form of overage charge. She couldn't answer my question.
I asked her if she could remove the $102 overage charge. She said she couldn't but offered to make another adjustment which still resulted in $47.50 overage charge. I thanked her for doing more than the CS the day before and unwillingly accept the adjustment. I told her I am still not satisfied with the settlement and how VZW penalizes customers for trying to make it easy for them by upgrading online directly.
Lesson learned: Don't upgrade or change anything online without talking to a customer representative. I am looking for a new wireless carrier as soon as I can.

You want the amount you are charged to be pro-rated, but not the amount of minutes you are able to use? Say you start the month with the 700 minute plan and change half way thru to the 1400 minute plan. You want to only pay half of the cost of the 700 minute plan for the 1st half of the month and still use ALL of the minutes? You then want to pay half of the cost of the 1400 minute plan for the  2nd half of the month? After all, you are only on the 1400 minute plan for half of the month. I suppose you should also receive all of the 1400 minutes for the 2nd half of the month? That comes out to 2100 minutes for the price of half of the 700 minute plan + half of the price of the 1400 minute plan. Quite a deal you want there!

She couldn't answer my question. When you do this online, you are able to choose to have the 1400 minute plan take effect at the BEGINNING of the CURRENT billing cycle, which would have prevented you from receiving the overage charge. It doesn't matter whether you do it online or with a representative over the phone/instore, you could have avoided the overage charge by starting the new plan at the BEGINNING of the CURRENT billing cycle(backdating).
I asked her if she could remove the $102 overage charge. She said she couldn't but offered to make another adjustment which still resulted in $47.50 overage charge. I told her I am still not satisfied with the settlement and how VZW penalizes customers for trying to make it easy for them by upgrading online directly. They don't penalize you for doing this online, as I have pointed out that you have the same choices whether it is online or via a CS rep. They will penalize you, though, if you make a choice which will result in overages.
Lesson learned: Don't upgrade or change anything online without talking to a customer representative. I am looking for a new wireless carrier as soon as I can.
Next time, if you are increasing your minute plan, just make sure that you have it backdated to avoid any overages. You can still do it online, though.

  • Upgrade Calling Plan and stilll incur overages...Hogwash

    Dear Verizon,
I recently began a new job and after a short stint with a company phone I decided it would be simpler to just upgrade my phone to unlimited and circumvent the need for another bulky phone in my pocket.  I also have began talking to and texting a sweet blonde haired blue eyed gal on another network.  Before I upgraded, I closely monitored my minute usage and text messages to avoid costly overages and to see if unlimited talk and text was really necessary.  As I would approach a limit i would upgrade the phone plan to avoid the extra cost and, as I thought, steered clear from a $300 phone bill.  I changed my calling plan twice, ultimately to Unlimited talk and text as i mentioned earlier.  To my dismay I saw my monthly bill was $300 this month, I calmed myself down and called a soft spoken customer service associate who kindly explained that I was being billed overages due to the PRORATED minutes and texts that incurred as I upgraded from the previous plan.  ...
This is very upsetting and unacceptable.  For those of us who closely monitor our usage employing the on-line services to AVOID overages and then to get duped by the fine print to incur equal overages if i had not upgraded my plan.  I know what some will say "You should have just upgraded earlier" or "Well since you are now unlimited you won't have that problem again".  To that I say, hogwash.  I trusted Verizon's online services and I am paying out the nose for it.
    Thanks but No Thanks Verizon.
If AT&T's service was medicore, I would switch.
    Colton Janes

It's possible you can get the overages covered by asking the CS rep to BACKDATE the plan change to the beginning of the billing cycle; then you will be covered for the whole month.  Pay the unlimited pricing for the entire month, and have no overages.  SInce the bill has already been generated, they may not go for that....but it's worth a shot.
If you were "approaching your limit" when you made the plan switch, then you would be getting overages with prorating....
For example, you were on the 450 minute plan, but one week into the month, you saw had used 400 minutes....so you switched to the 900 minute plan.  One week on the 450 minute plan would net you about 100 minutes allowance for that week - so you'd have an overage of 300 minutes.  The remaining 3 weeks on the 900 plan would give you an allowance of about 600 for the remainder of the month - or less if you switched plans again.  It's tricky, it's going to get you almost every time, and the way to avoid it is to BACKDATE the plan or have the new plan start at the beginning of the next billing cycle.  If you are already over, backdating is the only way.  Saavy reps MAY tell you that, most will not, and just let you find out whenyou get the bill.

  • How can I quickly upgrade my plan (without phoning in)?

I exceeded my text limit and need to add-on more texts or upgrade the plan before my billing cycle ends (tomorrow).
Each time I've had to do this previously I phone the support number and wait forever on hold, then plod through
the whole ordeal with a human. This takes way more time than I can afford - how can I modify my plan easily online?
    thanks.

This is what comes up in my My Verizon homescreen:
I then select "Change features" under "PLAN". If you cannot find anything about adding texts under "Change features", you may try "Change Plan". As I have stated, I am unsure of where this would be since I am on a Talk and Text plan and don't have an option of adding additional texts since I have unlimited.
After selecting "Change features", you get this:
I would assume that adding texts would be available from this page if you were on just a talk plan. As you can see, at the top of this photo is a step for selecting the effective date. Hope this helps.

  • I changed my data plan but AT$T Billing doesn't reflect c price

I had to upgrade data plan from 3gb to 10gb. Plan changed on the AT&T mobile App. Last month I made this change.
Now they show and are billing at the previous amount. How do you get AT&T to see the mistake and reduce the bill?

Your line fees went down from $25 to $15 a month. Your data plan went up from $40 to $100. If you have 6 lines or more you make out well.
I'm not sure what other change you expected.

    [/code]
The table lrx_tmp_pat_daterank is having that 31147758 rows. So I am wondering how to make the query to use the newly created index on the table?

Why do you think using Indexes will improve the performance of the query? How many rows this query is returning? Optimizer might chose a Full table scan when it finds out that Index plan might not be useful. Why are you using /*+ USE_HASH (c,e,b,a) */ hint? This Hint will force oracle to use Full table scan instead of using the index. Try removing it and see if the plan changes.

Sorry, without knowing the Apple ID/Password that was originally used to activate this phone, then there is no way to re-activate it, as you've found out.
Apple can't/won't help you. Your choice is to get this info, or you simply won't be able to re-activate this phone.
If you ex won't give it to you, then consult a lawyer.

  • Upgrade from Planning 9.2.0.2 to 9.3.1 or 11.1

We are currently on Sytem 9.2.0.2 and are looking to upgrade to 9.3.1 or 11. Does anybody know where I can go to get some information on the difference between 9.3 & 11. Any specific things I should look out for with regards to an upgrade to either version. I wouldn't look to do an upgrade until early 2009 and by then there would probably be a 11.1.2. Any info would be much appreciated. Regards John

    Hi,
You can find all the Version 11 documentation at :- http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E12825_01/index.htm
There are a number documents outlining the new features or you could have a look at the blog I wrote on looking at the new features of Planning V11 :- http://john-goodwin.blogspot.com/2008/07/planning-11-new-features.html
In theory you can upgrade from Planning 9.2 to 9.3.1 or 11, I must admit when it comes to planning I prefer to do a fresh install of planning and then migrate the planning apps.
    Cheers
