Change work status behavior

Hello,
I would like to change the work status behavior of my application to Top Down.
Does someone know how I can change this ?

Hi Mathieu,
You need to set a parameter named TOPDOWN.
This defines how to handle approval of work status. If TopDown, work status is approved no matter if sub-work status is approved or not. If BottomUp, work status can be approved only if all sub-work statues are approved.
Note: When you change the value of this parameter, existing work status information is removed.
The valid value for this parameter is Yes/No.

    According to what the 1795953 note says and thread sent by Dinesh,
    the problem is some of the Entity members are not part of the Group selection on Ownership settings. This is the configuration that I have for the entity
        I'm trying to change the work status for the item Org_so, who is the parent of the other.
        I have another question, what is the relationship between the controls and work status,
        if controls have not been executed you can not change work status?

  • Changing Work Status using data package or script logic

    Is it possible to set Work Status using Script logic, or an SSIS package.
    I know status is kept is an SQL table, is it possible to just update the locking table with a new record, or is there more to changing the work status.

    Thanks for your reply. This would be a nice enhancement.
    Although the work status does help with the audit trail of who and what locks the data, doing it automatically will allow the system to automatically unlock the period when it is opened before auto-loading the current closing balances. It will need to be carefully used in order to maintain proper audit trail of the data. When done automatically, the system userid would be used in the lock table witha  timestamp.
    I am needing to know if there are anyother steps involved in locking data other than writing to the SQL lock table. Is usppose this is especailly relevant when locking a parent and pushing the status to the children.

    Hi Gurus,
    I am trying to design security for users. For users who can approve the plan i am setting the authorizations with task profile as "set work status". But when user logs in to BPC web to change the work status, The data region is either blank/white screen. The user is not able to proceed to next step.
    I have maintained owner dimension also. But when gave user authrizations as secondary sys admin + lockings  user is able to see the data region and proceed to next step.
    My question with only set work status authorization can user change the status? or user needs to have secondary system admin + locking tasks assigned to complete status change.

    I'm pretty sure that users can be owner of a work status node, even if they have read-only (not write) access to that node. This is easy enough for you to test; just change the member access profile for that one user, and see if it solves the problem.
    But I suspect it won't solve it.
    You say that users with secondary admin rights can change work status, which means you have most f the setup (at the application and dimension levels) correct. There must be something about these users, or their task profiles, or their member access profiles, or the assignment to them of the OWNER property of the drive dimension, which is not correct.
    Make sure you double-check all these, and then process all the dimensions in the application & process the application itself. It's a bit of looking for a needle in the haystack, but there must be something that's not correct. The fact that it works for other users means that you're very close.

  • Blank work status setting page

    Hi,
      I did a backup of an appset from bpc 5.1 and restored it in bpc 7.0 MS.
      i have done all the security changes, changed the database name in the "owner" category in the "entity" dimension accordingly but i still can't bring up the work status changing page.
      after i clicked on "set workflow (approval status)", i was brought to a web page, but it just shows a blank action pane. back in 5.1, this would be where you use "active cv" or "another cv"
      i noticed a new column in work status settings, i.e. base hierarchy. and there's a default of "1" to all my work status dimensions. Does this have anything to do with my missing work status action pane?
      any idea? thanks in advance.

      it turned out to be a rookie mistake of not assigning the right users to the application set, after i did an appset restoration in a new server. i also should have assigned the task profile of "change work status" to the relevant users.

  • Update work status over multiple categories, periods etc...

    A customer of mine discussed the work status update procedure. In BPC 4.2, you could, via the webpage, select a list of entities with multiple time periods and then update them all at once.
    This would come in handy for instance if you need to set the status for the budget for instance and you need to update 12 periods all at once.
    Now in v5 and up, the work status update function has not greatly improved from what it was. Customers need to update multiple categories (for instance if they close category with corporate P&L, another category , for instance the divisional P&L should also be automatically closed for further input by updating the work status) or you may want to update selected entities (that in the some cases not always follow the exact hierarchy depending on how internal responsabilities are organized)
    In short, the functionality of updating work status is very limited when you need to do more than just one entity at a time.
    I was wondering what solutions exist in the field as a work around to this issue ? I can think of several, but i want to understand what options the customer has.

    Hi Edwin,
    I agree with you that the web UI for changing work status can be very tedious -- of course the push-to-children is a huge time-saver over updating 12 months (or 150 cost centers) one by one. But it would be so much nicer if we had an EVUWS or whatever, to be able to do this in a customized layout from Excel.
    For many of my projects, this work status update is the only time users ever go over to the web UI, and everything else is in Excel. (Correct, I'm not a big BPF fan either.)
    I haven't ever tried a custom SP to change work status. Not many things scare me, but this one scares me a little bit.
    I've used data retrieved from tblFinanceLock to only allow other custom data mgmt routines (imports, exports, etc.) to run if the lock status is appropriate. It's a lot of work to get right, particularly if you want to allow something to proceed (like an export) ONLY if the entire node (and all its dependants) are locked.

  • Work status for selected members

    Hi,
    While changing work status for a combination of category, entity, time: Is it possible to select multiple entity dimension members?
    For eg, I can choose an entity member and include its children as well. However, is it  possible to choose only some of the children members while setting the work status?

    I don't think it is possible. I tried to select multiple entities via the show filter function, for example to filter all entities with currency EUR. This generates a list of 2 entities in apshell, but when I click OK it does not pass the 2 entities to the workstatus box because this can only contain one value. In the end this value is picked up for locking.

  • BPF an Work Status in BPC v10

    Hi averybody,
    I am working in a project of BPC v10 and i have a question i would like to solve. Specifically i want to know if the new version of SAP BPC allow you to associate a step of the BPF with a change of the work status strictly.
    Does anybody know something concerning this item? Any additional information about new functionalities of BPF and work status?

    You can certainly do that. When you've created a set of work statuses and want to associate the work states to a BPF, you can associate with a setting for Related Action along with the Input you are providing to the suers (scrnsht below). I am not sure you can make it mandatory for the user to change work status setting, but you can allow a change in the work status.

  • Change of Status is not working in WebUI

    Iam facing a problem in changing the status of the item in web UI requirement as follows.
    We need to set the item status from the To be Closed to Close.The status To be closed is set by an contract processor and schedules the Action .i.e Close item Once the contract approver execuets the action.It need to be change to Closed and the item end date need to be set to the date when the Action is execueted
    I have done my coding in the Execute method for the action Close item by using the FM CRM_ORDER_MAINTAIN
    to change the item enddate and CRM_STATUS_CHANGE_EXTERN to change the Status to Closed and the Commit Work .My code is working fine in GUI but this is not working in WebUI . I can only see it when i execute the action go to the edit mode.
    Can any one help me out in this regards.

    we're having the same issue that an opportunity is updated in the normal Gui but not in the WebUI when using FM CRM_ORDER_MAINTAIN.

  • LSMW for changing user status on work order(IW32)

    Hi All,
    I have created a LSMW for changing user status on work order using transaction IW32. It does not change the status when i run the LSMW. In the recording for the LSMW, i select the radio button on the user status i want to select.
    When i run the LSMW in the foreground, it does everything except select the correct status.
    Is there a way to fix this or is it a problem with LSMW. I'm using ECC6

    I am not sure whether it would work with LSMW but if your on ECC 6.00 ,Enhacement Pack 3 then you have BADIs which allow you to make collective status changes in IW38 .The below are those BADIs :-
    BADI_EAM_RIAUFK20_FCODE_CUS1 :Implement Customer Function Code in Order List
    BADI_EAM_RIAUFK20_FCODE_SAP1 :Implement SAP Function Code in Order List
    Else if your on lower version then write up a batch programme which checks the PM Order types with specific status and sets user status using FM STATUS_CHANGE_EXTERN[This is used to set or delete User Status] in SE37 ..

    The periodic scripts or launchd would have to send the email. I don't think you have to do anything to send mail, just receive it, you can check that from the command line:
    mail [email protected]
    When you finish your message put a period on a blank line and hit return, that indiecates the end of the message.
    The one butt biter is that Apple puts a .forward file in all home directories that says to direct all mail to /dev/null , essentially it sends it to a black hole. You'll need to edit this file and put in your email address (if you want the email to go there) or the mails (should) wait for the user to run the mail command to read their messages.
    The mail command has a fairly extensive man page:

    Thanks Said.
    It is in the Step A(first I put step D and later edited later to Step A), we select the owner. By using the two drop down menus, we can specify a number of days prior to the start of, or after the start of the BPF in the step C, the users shall be notified. In the step D, the processes are defined and there we need to select the box for 'Enable Alerts'.
    You also go through the config documents on BPC as well BPF for better understanding.

  • Siebel Hangs up when changing the status of service request

    Hi,
    We are facing this typical problem since last 2 weeks. When closing the SR, CRM hangs for random(unable to detect a pattern till now) SRs.
    The steps we follow to an SR is:
    1. Enter the SR #
    2. Change the status to "resolved"
    3. Type the resolution in "resolution" text field and click on white space.
    4. A new row gets generated with status "unscheduled"
    5. Place a check mark near the newly generated row.
    6. Change the status of the SR to "closed"
    Now, some SRs get stuck at step 3. When clicking on white-space, CRM hangs.
    We've tried everything from clearing IE cache / temp / cookies / increasing temp file size (to 5000 in IE6 and 1024 MB in IE7)
    Even set-up a fresh system but no avail.
    Even changed the primary internet link to secondary one but no help.
    On top of that the SRs which make IE hang seem to be appearing randomly. Sometimes I can close 20 SRs at a stretch and sometimes 1-2 SRs get hanged every 4-5 SRs.
    Once in a while an error pops up: "The selected record has been modified by another user since it was retrieved. Please continue (SBL-DAT-00523)"
    No one else was working on the SR when such errors came.

    You can ave a runitme event or workflow triggered that can generate such behavior.
    First increase logging on your object manager (evtloglvl :) ) and look at any error message.
    Second assess with your development team what automation has been setup ranging from script, Business Services, workflow to assist you in troubleshooting.

    Hello,
    We are trying to change the behavior of the work status to Top down. So  the work status can be approved no matter if sub-work status is approved or not.
    We have tried to change the TOPDOWN application parameter to "Yes" but it doesn't work. In MS we have a drop down box with "Yes/No" but in NW this dropdown box is not available.
    Does someone know what is the parameter value to activate the topdown process in NW ?
