Changes to hierarchy in RSH1

Hi All,
I need to change one of our 0COSTELMNT hierarchies in RSH1, currently the hierarchy is defined using number ranges and I need to extend the number range. Do I do this directly in client, or is this type of task only to be performed in DEV and transported?
Also, once completed, do I need to Active Master Data 0COSTELMNT in RSA1

Hi Ross,
If your jus extending the hierarchy values then you can do a flat file load/maintain them in your non prod system first for testing purpose and then go ahead with this in your prod system
Its always better you get your hands dirty in non prod system first no matter how simple change it might be

I'm facing some issue in production for TCode-RSH1.
Adding cost element to a particular hierarchy in RSH1 leads to shortdump. (Assign_Type_Illegal_Cast). This problem is causing for some hierarchies only.
Steps followed by us for adding cost element:-
1) RSH1-select hierarchy name.
2) In change mode, select a paticular node, click on cost element.
3) Select any of the cost element & click the green button (tick)
When we are following the above steps, it is leading to short dump and giving the following error message:-
Assign_Type_Illegal_Cast.
This issue is causing for some hierarchies & not for all.
Request to suggest the solution..

That particular hierarchy is not having multiple nodes. Only one node named Rate & efficiency. and the user needs to add cost element to that node. Now how come your ans match here in this case.
Now is that you are telling that one cost element which is selected is there for that node in some other hierarchy?But it is a different hierarchy , so if it is then it would be a problem?
Or else I have one more doubt....
Is that the user might be having some authorization problem for that particular hierarchy or the info object or cube where the hierarchy is? Because he is saying that he is having this problem for some few only not all hierarchies. So its understandable that RSH1 authorization to edit and create he has.

Aggregates are nothing but a subset of your Infocube... when a query is executed, it firstl looks for the presence of the data in your aggregates and if found then it fetches the reocrds from there itself.. Else not, it'll search teh entire infocube and then fetch the records which is at a high risk of time consumption and the performance of the Query execution slows down or becomes worse significantly.. for this purpose, you build aggregates.. how do you decide whether you should go for aggregates or not is based on the following criteria...
if the %Data Base time is > 30% and if the KPI ratio (selected to transferred records) is > 10, then you go for the aggregates... you can get these details in the ST03N transaction by choosing Expert mode and selecting BI Workload... you can find all the statistics related to the Query execution starting from the front end time to db time/...
thats all about your aggregates...
Attribute or Hierarchy change run is done so that any changes to your Master data Attributes will have to get effected in terms of your reporting...
say for eg.. ur name is XYZ and loc is in India.. this is how it'll be reflected in your reporting also.. but at a later point in time, if you have changed your location from India to Europe, then for that to be reflected in your reporting, you'll have to perform an Attribute change run for that Characteristic...

Impact of Changing Dimension Hierarchy

I know this is done all the time - but wanted to double check - my client wants to change the hierarchy of a dimension (Hyperion Planning) significantly. Needless to say, that dimension is used in forms and reports - including in the page views. They want this done in production. Does changing the hierarchy have any impact on the forms or reports? I know this might be a little bit of a subjective question, but how would you assess?

First of all, I would suggest that the modification be done in developing environment, and then migrate to production if no doubt after testing.
If this is not possible, then you should consider the member selections in your forms, reports:
- Will the level selected change? Ex: if you select child of a certain member by function, you should consider what is going to be selected after modification.
- Is there any specified member is going to be removed?
- Will the form make sense after the modification of dimension?
Since this topic is more a business logic one than only technical one, I think it hard to provide a confident answer. I think if possible, you definitely should test it first on another environment, or duplicate this application and do the modification on it first.

Any function module to change planning hierarchy (tcode: MC92)?

I need to change planning hierarchy for product alloction.
I have tried to do it via transaction recorder, but some screens are missing when I tried to record it.
Could any one please advise if there is any function module that can serve the same purpose? Thanks.

Is that enough to change the technical name in the table RSZCOMPDIR.
Let me give some more information, idea is to change the technical name of all the queries present in a system based on a new naming conventions.
Eg.
Change all the technical name of queries ZQSAP to ZQXYZ.
If there is function module which allows to change the technical name of the queries that not only updates the table RSZCOMPDIR but also all the interlinked tables.

Cannot change project hierarchy after budgeting

Can any one please help with this. I am trying to change the hierarchy of my project but since the project has been budgeted for and released, I get the message that I cannot change project hierarchy. I have tried reseting the budget but this doesn't seem to be working. Any ideas on how I can accomplish this?

You can try the following procedures:
1. Clear all the budget into 0 ( both overall budget and annual budget)
2. Run t-code OPSX to reset the "BUDG" flag.
3. Try to update your project hierarchy again.

Refreshing Hierarchy node variable in BEx query with change in hierarchy

Hi all,
We have used a hierarchy node variable on Characteristic ZECCSAC (user-defined) and used it in a BEx query with default value set to a particular node value. Upto this, it is working fine.
The hierarchy used in the query, with the hierarchy node variable, was later changed ( and in future it can undergo changes ). Since the number of records in the hierarchy are changing, the nodenames of the hierarchy nodes are changing. But the hier node variable default value is still set to the earlier nodename for that node description. So at runtime it is giving an error "ECCS Account Number is invalid"!
Can anyone suggest how to refresh a hierarchy node variable default value each time a query is run so that the latest nodename is always taken ?

Changes in hierarchy dimension members causes EVDRE Errors retrieving data

I am facing the problem while retrieving the data in Evdre this is the following situacion:
1. BPC 7.5 NW SP 08 is used.
2. Suppose that you have a template where you defined SELF,DEP for an account dimension, you expand and refresh normally, and retrieved data OK.
3. Your business case makes that you have to move one of the dependant member of the hierarchy to another parent
then you go to mantain dimension member and change the parent of the member in question, finally you process dimension, and put available set status.
4. Yo re-open Template or refresh dimension members from the server in order to see update hierarchy in account dimension
5. After expanding and refreshing the evdre, shows and error "...while retrieving the data.. "
6. I suppose the way to fix it is to reverse the change in dimension member, so I change for initial parenth but error continue.
What do you recommend for fix it? is there any note which solve it?

Could you confirm us what is the the path of that XML file of dimension thought BW - UJFS?
The only thing that correct problem is doing the following but not should be the best way:
1. Supress Account dimension in application
2. Delete dimension
3. Recreate Dimension and process it
4. insert dimension into application
5. Refresh Evdre and then works fine!
Is there any Sap note about it or something else to check?

I have also created a hierarchy and inserted characteristic nodes but what is the u201CText Nodesu201D used for and what is the difference between that and the u201Ccharacteristic nodesu201D?
e.g.
Under the Characteristic Nodes u201CRegionu201D, I created a text node XXX 1.
What is the significance from the point of view of reporting and how will XXX 1 as a Leave under u201CRegionu201D get data when the entire hierarchy is dropped in a report?

Change PC hierarchy

Hi SAP Gurus,
I have an issue where the company loaded their conversion data in SAP and then realized that the PC Hierarchy was wrong and one of the node needs to be under another node instead of standing alone. Can we change the PC hierarchy when there is data in the PC or do we have to reverse all the documents before we can do so.... Please advise!

it is not in any case that easy.
For example if you want to change the top node, the standard hierarchy, if there are already profitcenter groups assigned it is not possible to just change the name of the standard hierarchy. Profitcenter Groups are stored technically as sets in set tables like SETHEADER and therefore need to
be assigned / have a connection to the highest node which is the standard hierarchy.
We only know the following workaround:
In the following example the existing standard hierarchy is called H1
and should be changed to H2.
1) Create a new node in standard hierarchy H1 named H1TEMP.
2) Move all profitcenters that are directly assigned under node H1 to H1TEMP.
3) Copy H1 to H2.
4) Now change the value of the field PHINR in table TKA01 (via TN SE16) from H1 to H2.
5) Now move everything that is assigned under H1TEMP to H2 and delete H1TEMP afterwards.

Changing the Hierarchy of File organisation in iTunes Media.

Am sure many are facing this issue that i have, from what posts I've seen so far.
It's the issue of having sorted or organised your music with iTunes, and when you need to move songs to your phone or back up external HArd Disk, we need to move it in the EXACT Same structure in which iTunes has them organised.
Let me explain:-
My Current Itunes Media Folder list is sorted by the Artist > Album > *.mp3
I have a huge collection of Music across 4 Languages, and there are possibilities that the same Artist could have sung a sung in 2 different Languages.
So at times when I open an Artist's Folder i can see two sub folders for Language.
If say, I wanted to have a Folder with only songs belonging to a particular Language, How do i achieve that? (I have my Library Categorised with ALBUM as Lang1, Lang2, Lang3) etc, that was meaningful to me than having the Album or Movie Name.
Ideally i would want ALL songs in a Particular language to be under ONE Folder, currently iTunes doesnt do that, it creates multiple folders with Artist Name and stores the song under that particular Folder name of the Artist. Again another headache, If lets say i have a song sung by Artist1 and Artist2 together, then again thats a new folder!
Reason Im asking this is because I migrated ALL my music from Windows to a Mac and spent considerable time, organising them by language (using the Album Tag), and now if i need to do a back up or Re Sync my Back up and my itunes library im having a tough time.
I would want an option where in, I can have on SINGLE FOLDER which will be my master DUMP of all my music not categorised by Folders or yes maybe folders at Language Level.
Music>Language(Or Genre) > *.mp3 - This is the structure I'm wanting to achieve, given the fact that my current most upto date Library is the itunes library, how do I do that, please help.

Let's get backup sorted to start with. If you use the scheme outlined in this user tip then, as long as all the media is inside the iTunes Media folder which in turn is inside the main iTunes folder, the backup copy can act as a fully functioning library ready to sync with any of your devices. Backup is easy because the software scans and adds any new or updated files. Restoring is either everything following a complete disaster, or replacing the album/artist folder deleted in error to the matching path, so again not too tricky.
The scheme above works whether you let iTunes organize the media or not, but it should all be inside the iTunes Media folder if your library is to be portable and work from any path. If you're using iTunes for managing media it really doesn't matter where the files are as long as it can find them and you can back up. If, however, you really want to impose some other structure on your files you can take my script ConsolidateByMoving and modify it so that it moves files to your personal preference instead of where iTunes would normally put them. You could also use the Auto-Organize from Tag features in MediaMonkey, or some other third party tool, but then you would need to fix broken links or remove and reimport the media, losing ratings, playlists, play counts etc.

For better view of Profit Centre Reports we are planing to change the Profit Centre Hierarchy.
I wanted to know that, are there some Specific Points which we have to take care of, before changing the Hierarchy?
Will some other settings get affected in System after changing the Hierarchy?
Also i want to know the TCode for entering Profit Centre Budget in System.

Hi,
Profit centre planning (there is no budget for profit centres) is entered via 7KE1 transaction. If you change your hierarchy you should think of the effect on your reporting and allocation processes. That is if you use certain group in your cost allocation cylce and now you change it, it might have an effect on costs distribution.

Saved Selections not applying hierarchy change in dimension

I am using Oracle BI Discoverer 10.1.2.54.25. I have created Saved Selections and am trying to have 3 saved selections for a certain dimension in my report. I want each saved selection to apply a different hierarchy within that dimension, but when I do a replace to apply the new saved selection in the report, it looks like its working, but it does not change the hierarchy - it looks like it always uses the default. I do select the hierarchy I want in the saved selection definition. Can anyone help?

BPC 7.5 NW: Unexpected changes in data after changing the a/c hierarchy

Hi,
We are implementing the IFRS Starter Kit for performing an IFRS consolidation. We have data for a couple of period already in the system and would like to now extend the account code hierarchy to store disclosure items like lease committments, tax etc (these account codes have their own parent and do not impact the balance sheet and income statement hierarchy).
We have tried changing the hierarchy but as soon as the changes are implemented, the numbers in the main balance sheet and income statement are impacted, which is very surprising. In particular, the automatic adjustment rules and the FX translation have stopped working. We have run the consolidation several times but to no avail.
Has anybody come across this problem before (particularly on the NW platform)? Any help would be highly appreciated.

Further investigation is that it appears to be a currency conversion issue. When we edit the currency conversion rules to translate the additional accounts, the entire currency conversion rules stop working. The currency conversion rules are validated and no errors are being thrown by the system.
