Changing Costing Type for one organization

Hello,
We have (2) organizations. In one organization our cost stucture is standard costing (first in first out). In our other organization it is set as average costing. We need to change this organization from average costing to standard costing (first in first out).
The question I have is, what needs to be done to do this? In addition, should we have any concerns on when the switch is made. ie. End of Month, End of Quarter, End of Year.

Dear User
It is simple, in ORG-2 u need to change your Cost method from Avg to Standard.
Assume, for ORG-2 your Periods start from Jan to Dec.....in your case, lets say for Jan10, you close your period and performed the AVG costing and send it to GL.
Now you want to change for FEB-10 your cost method should be Standard, Here you need to do certain standard set ups and that will take care for ORG-2. Once you did this set up, u can view the costing method under Std cost method irrespective of Monthly/Qtryl/Half yrly and for this, there won't be any issue.

    This may be little tough for 10000 sales orders.
    1. You have to remove the output record for the irrelevant output record using tcode VV12 for the relevant document type. So now for the document type, the old output wont be triggered.
    2. Now, create output records for hte correct output type in VV11 tcode(for the output type BA03) for the document type. Now this output will be triggered for all the document types you are creating from now onwards.
    3. To trigger the output type BA03, in all the old orders, you just have to open these sales orders in change mode (VA02), and just save it. When u open it the output type BA03 will be automatically triggered as the master data is maintained in VV11. But because just opening all the 10000 sales orders in VA02 one by one be a mechanical task, you have to think of some tool for this.
    May be a CATT procedure can do the trick. Else, you can just create a small program, where you can upload these sales orders and the program will just open these orders in change mode and just saves it (without making any changes). Then the output will be retriggered.
    Here again, if you are printing the output directly, it is advisable to trigger the output in batch mode(Date/Time field is 1 in VV11), and then you can again trigger the printing again using the program RSNAST00 after office hours for these 10k orders.

  • Change document type for Depreciation postings

    I need to change the document type for depreciation postings due to document number conflicts resulting from inter-company code depreciation (reference OSS note 51860).  But the system will not allow me to do this because "depreciation has been posted" AC 086 (depreciation <u>has</u> been posted in prior months).  Does anyone know of a way around this?

    Have you tried Tcode AO71. You can probably change document type for dep posting by company code.

    System follows some search criterial to determine the requirement type
    1. First, an attempt is made to find a requirements type using the strategy group in the material master.
    2. If the strategy group has not been maintained, the system will determine it using the MRP group.
    3. If the MRP group has not been defined, the system uses the material type instead of the MRP group when accessing the corresponding control tables.
    4. If no requirements type is found here, the system assumes a special rule and attempts to find a requirements type with the aid of the item category and the MRP type.
    5. If this is not possible, a last attempt is made to find a requirements type with the item category only.
    6. If the last attempt fails, the system declares the transaction as not relevant for the availability check or transfer of requirements.

    I looked at how to change my password but the options you told me to use were not available. I clicked on tools then options but there was no sync tab or manage accounts either.

    The login.salesforce.com website is using autocomplete=off to prevent Firefox from saving the name and password.
    You can remove autocomplete=off with a bookmarklet to make Firefox save the name and password.

  • Multiple Posting change notice created for one material document

    Hi All,
    The scenario is that the user needs to transfer material from unrestricted to quality stock type. while doing so the storage type is different than the actual storage type for the material. Meaning if the material is normally stored in high rack storage type, when it is found that the material is damaged or expired it need to be moved to the quality storage type. For this the user will first create  material document in IM with movement type 322 transferring material from unrestricted stock to qualtiy stock. A PCN will be created in back ground which will in turn be converted manually by the user to a TO. while doing so the user will pick the quant manually from the required storage type and select the destination storage type as the quality or quanranntine area.
    The issue here is that system creates one PCN for each material document line item. The requirement is that the system should create only one PCN with multiple lines for one Material document.
    The setting in the movememnt type clearly says that it will behave as it is behaving.
    Is there any other way or setting by which we can create one PCN with multiple line items for a material document.

    Thanks and Sorry for the delayed reply. We have now convinced the users that the system behaviour is standard and we cannot change the same.
    To your question about the need to have one PCN with multiple lines please note that the setup is such that when material document is created for transferring material from unrestricted to quality and vice versa this document is created with multiple materials in one go. Now when the PCN is to be converted to TO then the user ends up in creating number of TO's equal to the number of lines in the Material Document. We wanted to avoid this and hence this was posted in SDN.

  • Changing Operating Unit for Inventory Organization

    We have Inventory Organizations already LIVE in Oracle EBS 12.1.3. These are assigned to an Operating Unit. We need to change operating Unit for an Inventory Org. Is it possible to just assign new Operating Unit for an existing Inventory Org? or do we need to define new Inventory Org and then assign the new Inventory org to the new Operating Unit? Let me know if any one has ever faced this requirement and how was it implemented. Thanks a lot.

    The profile option MFG_ORGANIZATION_ID is used by forms that are inventory organization dependent, for example, View Material Transactions form. It is set by calling the function fnd_org.choose_org. It will open a list of values where you will be able to choose one inventory organization enabled to the responsibility you are currently using.
    By default this profile option cannot be set at any level (site, responsibility, user…). I tried to enable it to be set at responsibility level. However, after having done that, nobody was able to enter Oracle e-Business.
    Do you intend to restrict access to one inventory organization or just define a default inventory organization? If you intend to restrict access, you can use Organization Access (Inv Super User: Setup: Organization: Organization Access). There, you define the inventory organizations that are enable to each one of your responsibilities.
    If you have no lines in that form, all organizations are available to all responsibilities. If you add just one line, access is denied to all responsibilities and organizations not listed. So, be careful in setting this up.

    Now my user wants to enter the special character like + or - in that field(having data type numeric).

    but u have to check the Implications. i have done the same thing , but that one is Customer defined one , i got nearly 20 short dumps while doing the TP.

    I would like to change the Output type in the sales order for 10000 sales orders.
    Can I do with MASS transaction. If so, Plz let me know how ?
    Is there any other process to change the output type for 10000 sales orders, as its difficult to manually in each and every sales order.

    Cost centre is stored at the Organization level.
    And many Organizations can have the same location, so for a location you can have different cost code combinations.
    If you need just one segment(location segment), then it could be unique.
    So , instead of pcak.concatenated_segments cost_centre use pcak.segmentX  (X could be 1,2,3 etc based on your flexfield definition)

  • Unable to change File Type for specific file extensions

    Under Preferences->File Types different file extensions are assigned a file type e.g. The file extension .pkb is assigned the file type of PL/SQL. The file type of PL/SQL then opens the Code editor.
    I have a user who would prefer to open .pkb files in the SQL Worksheet editor but I am unable to change the file type to SQL Script as the option is greyed out.
    How do I change the File Type for these extensions? Is there a preferences file I need to change?

    There is no preference but it turns out you can manually edit one of the preferences.xml files to force PL/SQL types to use the SQL worksheet editor. For SQL Developer 3.2.20.09.87 that file is system3.2.20.09.87\o.sqldeveloper.11.2.0.9.87\preferences.xml and will be located (on Windows 7, for example) in directory C:\Users\<userid>\AppData\Roaming\SQL Developer
    No guarantee this will work in future versions of the product, but for now you can add the following two xml blocks...
    For example, for .pls, add to <extensionToContentTypeMap ...>

  • Deferred task just for one organization

    Hi,
    Is there a way to configure deferred task to run on just one organization? We need to have a deferred task for contractors to notify the manager about the upcoming expiry date etc., Since the number of contractors are usually a small number, it would be much more efficient if we can let the scanner scan users objects just in contractor organization.
    Does anybody know what exactly the deferred task scanner does to find out that there is a task that needs to be executed. Does it go fetch the entire user object and then parse the user object xml for the list of tasks? Or does it do something more efficient?
    Just want to know some internal works to just get an idea of how efficient or inefficient the whole process is.

    I thought this will delete all old tasks (SD_WFP_DailyTerminateUserProcess) and re-assign the new one (SD_TerminateProcess). But today I still see 'SD_WFP_DailyTerminateUserProcess' running. Is there a way to find all DeferredTask assignments, to make sure that SD_WFP_DailyTerminateUserProcess tasks have been removed and SD_TerminateProcess assigned?
    I can query database if needed. I need to figure this out asap, this is a production server. thanks
