Changing Some Text in TextField

Hi everyone,
Hope everyone is doing good..
Curious if you can change only some text in a TextField rather than all of it...
Like simple example:
The Ocean has alot of water...
And make Ocean blue?

Do you mean the text is there in one way and then changes via some actionscript, or you edit the text in a static textfield to have that one word a different color? For the latter, just do it.
To do it via actionscript you would need to use htmlText property of of a dynamic textfield to make the ocean a different color. If you wanted it to change via some actionscript from one color to another (just that word), you would have to rewrite the sentence, just add the html tags needed to color the text as desired.

Change displayed text in textfield an space between elements

Hey people,
a have a Form based on a View. i want to change the spaces between some rows or elements (to group some elements) and don't know how.
For example:
Name Surname
Birthday
Phone Mobil
City
Between Birthday and Phone, and Phone and City now should be more space.
I made it now like that:
Birthday: Display --> rowspan --> 2
and put an Element just shown as Text empty without label below "Birthday". But i don't like that because i need so much empty elements. Is there another possibility to change the style?
I want to change the size from the displayed text in the textfields too, or make it bold maybe.
I hope, i could make it comprehensible to you, if not ... just ask

can you tell me, if this doesn't work in firefox or mayby why? in IE 7 all works fine, but Firefox 2.0.0.6 doesn't show any changes.
I cleared the cache but still no changes.
Got the same problem with the width of my columns. In IE, Content is shown in one row and Firefox there is linebreak.
Do you (or anybody else) know, how i can fix this??

Changing some text

I'm new to DW . I have an DW application that i've inherited,
it requires some small text wording changes, The application
lauches from a database icon on a Lotus Notes Client. One problem
is I don't which version of DW was used to create the web site. Is
there any easy way to find out?
Also I'm downloading a trial version of DW V8, is this
backwardly compatible with previous versions? i.e. if I make the
required changes using with DW 8 will the web site will still
function?
And assuming DW8 is ok to make the modifications do I need to
create a new site or FTP the original site back to my local
workstation and make the changes. Any guidance would be
appreciated.

DW4/DMX is the demarcation line. DMX templates don't work in
DW4.

Changing OTR texts

I need to change some texts in a standard Web Dynpro.
I think the easiest way is to change them in the OTR, but after changing them they continue to appear as before. What do I have to do for the changes to appear?
I've noticed that when editing the texts I have to provide a country and an "Industry", and the only option I get for Industry is /0CUST/.
After saving the changes, in the OTR list I still get the old text, but if I select it and press the Contexts button,
I get a list that looks like this:
Ctry          Indust.          C          Text
                    X          Original text
ES          /0CUST/                    New text
What do I do for the Web Dynpro to show the new text?

Duplicating movieclips w/textfields on them & changing the text

Okay, there is a movie clip in the library. Has three layers. Each of the layers is also in the library. Layer 1 has a button symbol, layer 2 a text symbol with instance name 'item_label', layer 3 is color. instance name is 'flbutton'. To me, it looks like this was created into a symbol itself and given intance name of 'menu_item'.
An array is created with button label names. A loop is created based on the number of labels in the array. An instance of 'menu_item' is created each loop and placed on the stage/screen and the text on the button is changed to the item in the array.
My question....how do you do that in AS3?

Can someone tell me how to do this in AS3? I have learned how to duplicate a movieclip with DisplayObjects, but I have no way of knowing how to get to the text field in order to change it.

You are correct about the instance names etc... my apologies... I did not save my work and lost what I was doing. My Dev enviroment is a personal laptop with Flash. The company has yet to purchase Flash. My laptop did an auto Windows update. I lost my testing .fla.
You were right about the instance name. It was missing from my previous example. That has been correct. I now get no errors, but setting the autoSize property did not work.
I'm creating two MovieClips. One is the MovieClip of the actual TextField and the other is of a MovieClip with the TextField on it.

When I create the MovieClip of the TextField directly:

If I add a fourth 'e', .text="Hello Willeeeerrrr", it will add it to the text field the next time I test. The final 'rrrrr's' get truncated. Wierd.
Now, when I do the above on the MovieClip with the child text field, the text just disappears.

TextField javascript: select some Text with selStart/selEnd

Hi,
I try to preselect some text content within a TextField via javaScript.
I found some documentation, which states that in the change-Event I could set the selStart and selEnd Attributes by a script.: When a change or full event occurs, if characters were selected in the field, selStart and selEnd
are set to bracket the selected characters.
I tried this, but it did not work for me.
Any Ideas on how to preselect some text in a TextField by script?

I solved this same issue by using a switch script.

Unable to change group text name or add person to some group texts in iOS 8

I really like the ability to change group text names as it helps me separate work group texts from personal especially when I have coworkers that have separate business phones. I'm unable to change the name of some group texts as the option is not there when I go into details. I'm also unable to add contact to the same group texts that I'm unable to change the name on. Is this a glitch or am I missing something?

If you are having issues with renaming and adding users to group texts, you may want to try some things to troubleshoot.
First, quit all running applications and test again -
iOS: Force an app to close
Next, I would try restarting the iPhone -
Turn your iOS device off and on (restart) and reset
If the issue is still present, you may want to restore the iPhone as a new device -
iOS: How to back up your data and set up your device as a new device

If the PDF that you converted already has searchable text, please try disabling OCR as described in this document: How to disable Optical Character Recognition (OCR) when converting PDF to Word or Excel. (If the PDF was created from a scanned document and doesn't already have searchable text, disabling OCR isn't a great option, as the text won't be searchable/editable in the converted Word doc.)

Make sure People Sending you via iMessage are sending their messages on your PHONE number not on your EMAIL addresses . My sister had the same problem, thats how i managed to solve it!

Changing Label text color based on some conditions

I have these labels and I would like to change the text color IF the text has some specific value (coming from an XML created by a program); for example the default text color is red, but if the text value is "Yes", the text color should be green.

Change the Text in Linked TFL on the fly

     I have 3 TFL fields on the stage. They are linked so the text overflow from the first spills into the subsequent fields 2 and 3. I want to change the text dynamically but when I do the overflow text do not "overflow" into the other fields. It is as if they were not linked at all.
For instance, when I call:
textField1.htmlText = "bla bla bla......"
the first text field displays the text just fine but the "overflow" does not display in textField2 and textField3 eventhough they are linked on the stage and the initial text displays just fine.
Can this be done?

Do you mean TLFTextField in Flash pro? If you are talking about TextField, there is nothing about TLF.
TextFlow can flow through linked containers. You can make it on linked Sprite. TLFTextField is a kind of Sprite. You need not to use TLFTextField to implement such a feature.

Change TextArea text color selectively

I am trying to change a small portion of the text inside of a
TextArea. My attached code references the textField of the TextArea
component, and attempts to apply the setTextFormat command on that
textField. For some reason this does nothing. Any ideas?

I was able to resolve this by placing the color I want to
change the text to in as HTML.
