Charging mac makes noises in the headphones

Hi, I have an important problem with my retina display macbook pro. The thing is that when I am using my headphones and connect the power cord, I start hearing some noises, which dissapear the moment I disconnect the charging cable.
Is there anyway to stop this from happening? Thank you very much
P.S. I live in europe, and use the european power source, just in case it matters.

    Thank you everyone!

Normal, normal, normal. Don't know the reasoning behind it - I suppose the MBP is trying to load anything that might be in the drive at startup. Had me confused for awhile, way back when...

  • Noise on the headphone jack

    Hi, there.
I've head this iBook for about a year and a half now and, apart from a couple of minor issues, it's been sort of OK. Here are the problems I've had so far:
    1. There is a small hump on the inner left edge of the display (there since I took it out of the box);
    2. The smaller ENTER key doesn't fit well because of the wiring underneath it and sometimes doesn't work;
    3. I get noise on the headphone jack that I just can't get rid of.
I'm pretty sure there's not much anyone can do about the first two (especially now that the warranty has expired), but there must be something I can do about this noise thing. I've already tried all kinds of simple things that one can do in a situation like this, but so far nothing's worked.
Essentially what I get is always the same sort of noise which reminds of the noise you get from cheap portable CD players or, if you're old enough, the noise from a tape player. Sometimes when I switch applications this noise goes away only to come back when I switch again.
I've also had a similar problem for a while that simply took care of itself, i.e. there was static (noise) on this same jack which would go away if I pressed my finger on the display open button. Funny, eh?
Now, if anyone has had this problem or you know how to fix it, I'd be grateful if you'd enlighten me.
    Thanks.

  • The ringer only makes noise when the earpiece is in.  The settings are showing as correct

The ringer only makes noise when the earpiece is in.  The settings are showing as on for both ringer and messages.

The internal switch in the audio output port is stuck.  Try inserting the earphone plug a few times.  If no success, try jiggling a tooth pick inside in order to trip the switch.. If still no success, have the technicians at the Apple store genius bar do it for you.

  • Digital Audio Noise from the Headphone Jack

I have been searching for a while to see if anyone else has this problem.
I have random faint digital noise (bleeps, bloops, and whirls) from my headphone jack. This happens regardless of application. I can get it going good by just tossing the volume bar back and forth on the sound pref panel.
I have considerably less of this from the line out but still detectable noise.
I have disconnected everything non essential from the Mac Pro and my power outlet are reduced to a minimum. (monitor and Mac)
I have tried numerous headphones including Etymotic ER•6 and Sony MDR-7505.
This has always been present in 10.4.7 and 10.4.8. Like I said, its faint in volume - but it gets annoying!
I have read the following below and believe these do not apply to me because this is not an external powered device.

    2 x 2.6 GHz Mac Pro   Mac OS X (10.4.8)   1 GB original RAM

I found out today what is causing the noise on my Mac Pro!
Our next door neighbor has a really high power HAM radio that I am picking up static and transmissions from. I thought I was going insane when I heard weird voices coming out via my headphones. I know it is our neighbor because I heard him relay his name and location. Had to get my wife to listen to prove I was not going crazy.
Here is the weird thing. I do not have AirPort or BlueTooth on the MacPro...so I cannot figure out how the transmission is permeating the Mac. Could it be a shielding issue on some internal component?
    Thanks!

  • Weird noise in the headphones

    hello everybody,
now here is a little something taht totally wrecks my nerves. while trying to set up my laptop for recording (pismo) i noticed a distorted hiss in the headphones. it will not quit, whatever i do. its not the headphones, i doublechecked that with my other mac. can it be that the output has a bug, that i never noticed before? or do you have any other ideas?
    thanks,
    eddie

    eddie:
How does it sound coming from the internal speakers, or external speakers, for that matter? The question is, first of all whether the problem is hardware or software related. If hardware, which is most likely, is it in the phones, the connection or where? If you have Griffin iMic or a similar USB device you can plug the phones in there and see if the problem persists.
In addition you can do the usual reset PRAM, repair permissions etc.
    Good luck.

  • Wont start - HD makes noise and the screen stays black

    Hi there
This just happened today. Well yesterday while I was browsing suddenly for no reason my screenn went black and no amount of pressing of keys clicking etc could make it come alive again. So I powered down and restarted. It worked OK.
Then today same thing, except when I tried to restart the HD started making loud 'wirring' noises and the screeen stayed black. I've been trying on and off to get it to start but no luck. Is there anything that I can do????
The iBook hasnt been dropped or mishandled in anyway, and nothing has been spilt on it either.

    Try resetting the power manager:
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=14449
If that doesn't work, try resetting the PRAM:
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=2238
And if that doesn't work, it may be your power manager has gone bad. Hopefully your machine is still under warranty. If it isn't, an authorized service technician can still remove the hard drive and put it inside an external 2.5" Firewire case such as those made by http://www.macsales.com/ so that at least you can recover any files you haven't backed up.

  • Loud Screeching Noise through the Headphones on my Zen Touch?

I've had my Zen Touch for 2 days and it was working fine until one time when I tried to use it all I heard was a high-pitched noise coursing throughout my headphones. I can hear the music slightly but it is massi'vely overpowered by this noise. The noise is almost like the noise you hear when your modem logs online. I've tried changing the EQ settings and trying different tracks, basically everything. Anyone know what to do?

I've tried the headphones on a different source (my computer) and they seem to be working fine. Also, I have tried a different pair of headphones on my Zen Touch, which yielded the same result of a loud screeching sound. I checked the headphone jack with a flashlight and it appears to be clean.Message Edited by juxtapose on 02-5-2005 09:48 PM

  • Why does the printer suddenly wake up and make noises and the tray moves but not printing?

It behaves as if it is about to print something but nothing there to print. It is connected wirelessly. It is rather eerie.
    This question was solved.
    View Solution.

Some printers will wake themselves up on a regular basis to calibrate the print heads or to clean the toner components.
You usually can't entirely disable this feature because it's an important way to maintain the printer health. Depending on the printer you can sometimes change how often this maintenance is done.

  • How much noise should the hard drive make on a MBP early 2011?

Had since May/June last year i5 13" and only since I applied all updates few weeks ago it seems to be louder than it was before?
It sounds like a fan but isn't... obviously. Right hand side of track pad, and covering it, in fact just touching it dampens it to barely audible. Is that normal or has something gone a bit weird? A constant fan noise, which isn't the fan is now there permanently.

How much noise should the hard drive make on a MBP early 2011?
    None.
The machine should only make noise if the Superdrive is being used or the CPU's heavily used, going by my Early 2011 17".

It's possible it wasn't installed correctly and/or the case is slightly off so it's resonating the hard drive vibrations.
Make sure you have a internet connection (don't move) and reboot the machine holding the d key down like forever and Hardware Test will run.
Backup your data off the machine, if the hard drive dies under 1 year or three years with Applecare, then go get a new one. else you can replace it yourself with a better one and not void your warranty if you don't break anything doing so. Add more RAM while your at it.

As you know Mac's are made by hand by young Chinese women working 12 hour shifts performing the same function every 7 seconds for only $1.20 a hour. They live 7 to a box room and have to pay 70¢ a meal.
All in all I would say they are very tired, and it's possilbe a few defects made it to your machine.

  • My macbook makes noises when i turn it on.

i recently bought a macbook pro 15 inch, the 2.66ghz one and when i turn it on it makes noises but the noises sound like they are in rhythm and are maybe playing a song? is that normal?

Me, too! It sounds like the optical drive is doing a little tune! The actual sound has that optical drive buzz, and it starts on first B-flat above middle C (forgive musical dorkiness - if it helps, I could actually transcribe it) ... just a couple seconds long. It happens at start-up (including restarts) and wake-up. It's pretty loud, actually, like it would be disruptive if it happened during a lecture ... What could this be? Is it ominous?

Bought and installed a new battery for my Mac Book Pro 5.1, intel Core 2 dual, the computer makes a lot of engine noise! The noise disappears in sleep mode. What can be done?

  • Is normal in the mac book pro with the retina make fan noise al the time ?

Is normal that the new macbook pro with retina make fan noise all the time?

    Hi everyone.
I just bought an mac book pro retina , 15 inches , 2 GHz, Core i7, 8GB 1600 MHz DDR3. I'm a programmer , so, I really don't give to the mac book an exhaustive use, so the performance of the machine is good for me. But recently , I discovery some kind of issue : a noise fan when I reproduce a video from Internet, in full screen mode.
I download the iStatus Menus program for mac, to has a complete dashboard of the situation , and I got this :
    1) When recently start the mac book, the statistics are
All in order, the revolutions of the fan are OK, no fan noise at all.
But , just opened a video in full screen , a few seconds after opened start it, the machine increase the temperature from (normal) 40° to 98° (so high), and the statistics change dramatically , as follow :
As you can see, the fan revolution increase 3x , from  2000 to 6000 . The use of Google Helper increase over 200% . And obviously the noise fan make me crazy,
I've only seen this "issue" on that scenario, ( internet video full screen reproduction ). That's not happen , even when many applications are open.
Should I worry about this ?,  or, this is a normal behaviour on the machine ?.
I'll appreciate any advice or answer.
    Kindly regards.
