CHARM: Customizing in Prod
hey,
we have to customize some things in our PROD-Sys.
But how can i get him (SolMan) to create a transport order just there in our PROD?
And not in our DEV???

I have been testing ChaRM this way for many customer for 2 years and it works perfectly... If you have only one system available I don't see any other way to do it.

Charm - customizing landscape in SolMan
Hello,
I want to start working with ChaRM at at customer. I would like to setup a "satellite system" that simulates a real DEV, QA, PRD. We don't want to touch the current productive route, nor moving things into production while we test Solman.
I suggesting a new logical system (ERP) pointed to three different clients. However we are running out of server boxex. One of the possibility is to have any ERP Sandbox available and then create these three additional clients (500, 600, 700). Then create a transport route for these three clients.
In this way we are going to have teh possibility of testing charm tickets for client-dependent customizing before moving to the real productive route.
Do you see any other alternative for this type of simulation and training? Do you have any example of a landscape for Solution Manager configuration and testing??.

ChaRM customizing - status hangs
Hi,
in customizing Service Desk/ChaRM we are using Incident Tickets (type ZLPI) which are linked with Change Requests (type ZDCI). The status profile used for the Incident Tickets is the following:

A Change Request can be withdrawn which causes the status of the linked Incident to be set to "Problem Accepted" (via the SET_PREDOC action which works fine). The only problem we encounter now is, once the status is set to "Problem Accepted", no further statuses can be set.
Additional information:
- the system status remains "In Process" when the Incident is set to "Problem Accepted"
- the status still can be changed with the CRM_SOCM_SERVICE_REPORT (sequence of status profile is maintained)
- Linked Change Requests can only be created when the incident is in status "Solution Approved" meaning every incident with a withdrawn change request already reached status Solution Approved (stat.nbr 66) before
Has anyone encountered a similar problem with status profiles which 'hang' at a certain status ?

In service desk there is a program AI_SDK_CUSTOMIZING_LISTING that one can use to list all the customizing in service desk. Is there any such tool for listing all the customizing in Charm?nothing found

By creation of Change Request the value "IBase / Component" should be filled.
The default values here are: "0" and "0".
Has some one already customizng experience here?
I would like to change the value to e.g. "1" and "314" (my productive IBase).

I am not sure about CHARM.
But since CHARM is also based on Service Desk functionality, may be the transaction IB52 can help you.
Executing IB52 transaction, will take u to a screen from where u can select your Installed Base using value help. In most of the cases, there will be only one option.
Just select that iBase, in the following screen, you will be able to see all the attributes of your installed base in the Text tab of the lower right part of the screen which is editable. Here you can make the required changes as you wish.

ChaRM: Customer fields Tab & Documentation
Hi
In the Change request screen there is a tab for customer fields under transaction data. In this Tab there is a "Documents" button that allows me to attach project documentation to the CR.
However if I try to do that when the CR has been approved it just says "Function cannot be performed".
How can I change this behaviour to allow me to attach documentation after the CR is approved?Thank you

In this area I took the 2 entries for SDCR user status E0004 and copied them
Set the activities to Change Document & saved these
Then copied the original 2 entries again
Set the activies to Assign document
That gave me the activitie I require.

Follwoing is my flow to handle customer subcontract using sales stock & Make-To-Order concept. We are given a Semi-FG say "F02" from customer in which "F02" is the product we sold to them before. They subcont us to add colour to the "F02" and make it to FG as "F01" and ship it back to them and charge then an added-value cost (not full price including the cost of "F02")
I encountered the problem as follows:
1. In sales order how to differentiate between normal price and added-value price for F01 as when doing billing, we only want to charge the added-value price in subcontracting case, and charging full price for normal sales ordering (in which we make F02 for customer also).
2. Any report other than MD04 to see make-to-stock S.O as in MTO scenario, Md04 wont shows the Sales order at all

a). Create Sales Order, in procurement tab "Requirement Class" = KEV and Schedule Line cat to BN
b). MIGO -> GR->Others -> 501-E -> for F02 (Customer Supplied Material), provideSales Order/Item#

ii)Md04 for F45684XX4915FR3102 è you will see the stock as Sales Order stockè means customer owns the stock
iii)MB51 for material doc for this GR è No account document means this GR stock does not affect the Balance sheet account on FI, but affect the MM (as it generate material document)
c)CO08 to create Prod Order from Sales Order è use F01 (The FG to customer) è in Prod Order component view add component F45684XX4915FR3102 (op# = 10) è release $ Save go to MD04 you will see the S.O and cutomer Stock show
d). MIGO GI--> Order# --> 261E
i)Md04 è Sales Stock customer entry is gone
ii)MB51 è material document has no accounting document è since the stock does not belongs to company (GR/GI of F02 does not affect FI, only MM)
e).GR-> Order -> 521 E in where tab è use 101-E
i)md04 è Prod Order Entry gone, only Cust Stock entry remain with stock quantity
ii)MB51 è Accounting Document Inventory/Fact Output equal to EK02 cost value * qty
f). Sales order no need to confirm stock, since it is MTO, the confirm field is auto assign with qty

Need to build new instance in sync with PROD instance.

I need to build a test instance at my location which should be in sync with customer's PROD instance. I was given backup of ad_bugs,ad_applied_patches tables. Customer is not ready for clone due to security reasons.
This TEST instance will be used by our development people.
To build a test instance, i prepared the action plan, Just i want to check with you people once again.
1) building a new instance with rapid clone. I will keep same licencing, characterset,languages.
2) I will start applying one bye one patches.
Is this correct way or any other smarted way of doing the same activity.

activity.By perfroming all the steps you describe, you are in effect doing a clone THE HARD WAY. Is there specific security concerns regarding data preventing you from using Rapid Clone? If so, there may be Oracle API's to resolve that.
I highly recommend convincing your customer that Rapid Clone is the way to go. You may never get everything in synch and it will be difficult to identify, internal id's likely won't. I also don't believe the method you propose is supported.
IMHO, Rapid Clone from prod is a requirement to support any SDLC e-biz installation. -

In ChaRM, we use the approvement workflow messaging. Automatic mails are sent (smartform) when a change request needs to be approved, when the developper can start working, etc.
In our development system, everything runs fine, the mail is sent with the correct text.
In the production system, the mails are sent, but the content of the mail is in a PDF attached to the mail. This is not practical at all for the users.
ChaRM customizing and smartforms are the same on the two systems. What settings do I need to change in order to have the content of the mail directly in the message, without any attachment ?

Package designing strategy (may be stupid question)

I always run into this problem while deciding package structure. Hope I can get it resolved once and for all here.
There are customer and products domain objects. I will create seperate packages for them. Say each package will have several classes working together. I am showing only the core classes Customer.java and Product.java. The domain objects access database via database classes from corresponding "db" packages. Thus the structure looks like :

Here is the problem :
The above structure looks very logical to me but I have following issue:
How to make root.prod.db.* accessible to root.prod.* only since it has no business outside it. Similarly the customer classes.
I donot want to merge db.* classes with its parent as I want to keep database access classes seperate. I do not see any way around it.
What is the approach generally taken for this very common issue or is it not an issue at all ?
Should there not be a new visibility indicator which will allow the members to be visible to classes of its immediate parent package and current package only ?

Objective: To get production orders based on the values entered by user.

Duplicate rows are being eliminated from OBIEE reports even though I have not specified the 'DISTINCT' clause under the advanced tab of the answers request.
I read somewhere that this is a bug and the only solution is to include the table key column.
Please let me know if this is correct or if there is another solutiuon to prevent this issue.

I've also noticed this too. And I did one of two things in the past:
1) Yes, when applicable, I've added a unique identifier to the report so that duplicates were shown.
2) Sometimes when I hit this I had a situation of a few dimensions in a report (lets say CUSTOMER and PRODUCT) and a measure (let's say sales $). If the customer 1 bought product A at $10, and he bought it on two different days, I was only seeing the DISTINCT record coming through, i.e. I was only seeing CUSTOMER 1 PROD A $10 instead of $20. Then I went into the RPD and changed the aggregation rule of Sales $ from None to SUM. The sum would force a group by get the correct information back from the RPD. So make sure you have your aggregate measures defined in the RPD and that should help you get around some of these issues.
