When the engineer comes to install Infinity (theoretically next Wednesday) what should I make checks on before the engineer leaves?

He will connect one PC or Laptop as part of the Install process but he won't and certainly shouldn't run a speedtest on your PC or Laptop as Openreach guarantee a Sync Speed from the RDSLAM to the Openreach VDSL Modem.
Openreach Engineers and their contractors are told to show you the BBC iPlayer in HD because you get no bufferring on it.
They do not guarantee your Throughput Speed as they have little or no control over this due to several factors. Usually the biggest one is the processing power of your PC.
Also they will only treat it as faulty if your sync speed is half of what was estimated, so basically if they estimated you to get 60mbps down and it was syncing at 32mbps then that wouldn't be considered faulty. And ref to the upload, doesn't matter how much slower that is than the estimate, they never treat that as faulty.

I got my HH3 today. But i've set it up on my adsl because i dont want them touching my pc. No need for a CD! I'm going to be at work, with my wife in when they instsall infinity.
So what will the engineer actually do and need access to? The infinity cable reaches where i've put the HH, there is power available, though how long is the power cable for the OR modem?
What will he use to test the line? His own laptop?

The power cable for the OR Modem is 3 metres long, and the engineer should ensure that Infinity is working on one of your machines. He does not need to install any software if you do not require it.

BT bb option 1 while I wait for infinity engineer

Just joined BT activation date for bb is now 20th after first date came and went with no bb. I was just looking on the website at my services and I've found out that I will be on BT bb option 1 while I wait for a BT infinity engineer to install that part! Now I noticed that there is a 10g usage limit on this package and I know I will far exceed this in the 4 weeks waiting for the engineer. I have been informed that no charges occur in the first month got exceeding this limit, but is this true and will my bb service stop if I go over the 10gb usage limit?? Advice would be much appreciated! Cheers!

yes that is true for the first month you go over limit there is no excess charge and no if you go over it does not stop

Sharepoint 2013 site having NTML Crawl issue while crawling Sharepoint 2010 sites having FBA authentication

Hi,
We have Sharepoint 2013 search center site which is claim based with NTLM authentication set. we have Sharepoint 2010 farm also running which are FBA authenticated.
While crawling Sharepoint 2010 sites having FBA authentication from SP 2013 search center having NTLM auth. it does not give proper result.
Can you please help me what can be done here?

According to your description, my understanding is that the search cannot work correctly when crawling the SharePoint site which is form-based authentication.
Per my knowledge, the crawl component requires NTLM to access content. At least one zone must be configured to use NTLM authentication. If NTLM authentication is not configured on the default zone, the crawl component can use a different
zone that is configured to use NTLM authentication.
However, if crawling a non-default zone of the web application, URLs of results will always be relative to the non-default zone that was crawled for queries from any zone, and this can cause unexpected or problematic behavior.
I recommend to make sure that the default zone of the SharePoint 2010 web application to use NTLM authentication.

Any ideas - I have been getting this since the move to ME. Systems logs on to Mac.com then immediately comes up with this error - An error occurred while publishing file “/Web/Sites”. Try publishing again later.

Unfortunately I'm not.. and I'm really getting fed up. I'm first to admit I'm technologically-challenged (which is why I prefer Apple to PCs because they're far more user friendly) but I've tried the things I've seen mentioned in other threads.. such as ensuring the .me update has been done, successfully published to a folder, etc.. When I publish (I only have the 'publish to mac', not 'publish to me' option) the creating log bar progressed to the half way mark before disappearing. Suddenly another box pops up to say that my site will begin publishing. It doesn't. Instead 'iweb unexpectedly quit'. It doesn't make a difference whether I've published to mac, published all to mac or simply clicked the publish button on the bottom left. While 'creating' the buttons turn blue but once it quits and I re-open/relaunch they're back to being red. As I am unable to get through to the online chat support (several unanswered messages and now it's completely unaccessible) I'm hoping someone else can suggest what I try next. It's been almost 2 weeks and I love iweb but am at the point of wanting to cancel my membership. Help!

Hello everyone,
I've been using mac for about 10 years now and have finally decided to try out this iWeb application. Spent several hours putting the site together... fun... but when I hit the publish button, the following error popped up.

An error occurred while publishing file "/Web/Sites/iWeb/X". (X being my site name which also happens to be my .mac account name.
So I've spent another 3 hours trying it over and over again but still no luck. So I've searched this forum and see if there's any tips. Found a lot of solutions but none of them seem to help. I've deleted all the folders and file on my 'Sites' folder on the iDisk. Closed all running apps before hitting the 'Publish' button. And I've even deleted all my work and tried just to upload the 'welcome' page. Still doesn't work.
I'm getting a bit annoyed... Are there any solutions for my problem??
I'm using a PowerBook G4 12" 1.33GHz Mac OS X 10.4.9 with iWeb 1.1.2

Probably not. No big deal, really. The important thing is we have been able to get your site on the .Mac server, albeit in the homepage directory.
Ok here's your last assignment. This will also take awhile, but when you are finished your site will be up on .Mac and accessible using the web.mac.com/username/iWeb/sitename url.
Since you have already initiated a publish to .Mac from iWeb, the root directory for iWeb should be on your iDisk. You should be able to navigate to the iWeb folder following this path:
Go/iDisk/MyiDisk/Web/Sites/iWeb/SiteFolder
"SiteFolder" should be a folder named for the site you are having trouble publishing.
On your desktop, open the Site folder that iWeb delivered when you published the original site using the Publish to a Folder... command. You will see a number of folders in there and a number of page.html files. Drag each of these into the Site Folder mentioned earlier, on the iDisk. (The one named for the site). The root index.html file, (the one published outside of the Site folder) needs to be placed in the Web/Sites folder; you should see it in the column above the iWeb folder when done. Basically, you are "manually" uploading your site. It's cumbersome and a royal pita, but if successful, this exercise will confirm what I have suspected all along:
The problem is a latency/time-out error. (The actual error message itself is misleading and somewhat immaterial--iWeb probably chose it randomly). Lots of things contribute to it, but basically, iWeb gets tired of waiting on the WebDav protocol and then generates an error message. I wish I could be more specific, but that's about as close as I can get to the core issue. Many folks publish successfully from your area of the world; just keep trying, and when all else fails, you can always swap out the changed files manually following the method outlined above.

I have a text file in which some SamAccountNames are present.I need to check the file while creating a new users through ADUC console.If a username that is going to create through ADUC console is present in the file, then it should prompt a message
that the user is already present in the text file.
Is there any possibility of contacting the powershell script from the ADUC console.If so, then while creating a new user through ADUC console, what is the proceedure for executing that powershell script.

Please check the log file to find more information about this issue. The path of the log file is:
C:\Program Files\Common Files\microsoft shared\Web Server Extensions\15\LOGS.
In addition, please make sure the URL of the site is correct.
Please check whether you could access other pages in the problematic site.

Firstly, I need to verify the followings:
Whether you created a feature called AnalyticsLinks and activatated it at SharePoint 2007 site.
Whether you installed the feature at SharePoint 2010 site.
Please deactivate the feature AnalyticsLinks, then migrate SharePoint 2007 site to SharePoint 2010, compare the result.
Also , please check whether you have installed the feature AnalyticsLinks at your SharePoint 2010 site. If not, please install and activate it, compare the result.

Infinity engineer VS technical support

Hi,
I ordered infinity 2 a few months ago and had it installed a few weeks ago. The engineer told me I should expect about 36Mbps. I pointed out that I was expecting more as it was infinity 2. He told me that I was set up for infinity 1. But if I rang BT and explained to them then I should expect about 67Mbps. He told me it was a common problem and ringing BT would sort it out.
I have tried ringing BT support several times but have gotten nowhere. Apparently unless I get less than 50% of the possible speed it is not a problem. I don't understand what the problem the infinity engineer was talking about so I can't relay it to the support people.
He was adament that I could expect faster speed and that it was just a setup problem that was easy to fix.
Just to clarify about my setup and how I've tested the speeds:
tested on a Windows desktop and a Mac laptop. Wired. Tested on http://speedtest.btwholesale.com/. The run further diagnostics bit of that test always fails. I generally get about 36Mbps/8Mbps.
BT tech support say my profile is for infinity 2. Beyond that they just get me to test my speed on a wired connection and then leave it at that.
So who is correct? I live in Clapham in London. I have brand new BT installed wiring all the way to the telegraph pole. It feels like a perfect setup for getting good speeds.

BT Infinity engineer no show!!!

Yesterday I sat from 8 o'clock in the morning for an infinity engineer to arrive at the house. I was told between 8am and 1pm. At 2pm when no one had arrived and I had not received a call advising me of any issues, I decided to contact BT myself and was told the engineer was uncontactable but the job was still posted as going to happen that day. I took this on face value and waited a further 2hrs, still no engineer and still no call to tell me that he was not coming. I call back again to be told for a second time that the engineer was uncontactable but the job was still up to be done that day. By this time it was 4:45, I asked what time do the engineers work till? to be told 6 o'clock! I asked how is it going to be possible to complete the job that day then?. There was no answer to this as obviously it was not going to happen and come 6 no engineer had arrived. I called back once more and was then informed that someone would contact me to rearrange a date to fit the system. But nothing was said about the 12 hours I had waited 7 days before Christmas for a none contactable engineer! Surely if the engineer was not contactable the appointment should of been cancelled with me being contacted early allowing me to try and achieve something with the day I had left!! I am very dissapointed with this situation I can not stress that enough!!!

Same thing but worse for me. My Broadband has been off since Tuesday 4 Dec.
My 1st appointment was for Friday 14 Dec 2012- 1pm to 6pm slot.
Of course no engineer turned up and no one contacted me.
After many phone calls, the overseas call centre got me a slot for Monday 17 Dec -8am to 1pm slot
Again no one turned up. Again no one contacted me.
So back again to BT help line.
The overseas centre said they have contacted the UK people and assured me the Engineer will turn up later.
Around 5pm, the overseas centre phoned me and informed me that due to Lack of resources there will be
no engineer coming. He promised me that someone from the UK will phone me within 24 hours.
Today around 10am, Openreach (who I know is part of BT) phoned just to tell me that the earliest slot they can offer me is 31st Dec.
They also deny amy knowledge of an appointment for Monday.
I told them I have received 2 texts confirming the 14 Dec appointment plus another text confirming the 17 Dec appointment. They still argued they cannot see an appointment for 17 Dec and without any apologies offered me a sllot for 31 Dec - Take it or leave it.
They keep saying thay are Openreach and imply that whatever BT has been telling is not their responsibility.
In the meantime I am looking for alternative providers. I have relatives who use Virgin Media nd they seemed happy.
The problem I think is that big companies are just happy to get new customers and lomg standing customers are taken for granted.
