Checking for Equipment Category
I need to create a role that will allow certain people access to certain equipment categories but I don't think this could be done. Has anyone done this? Is there any way to do this?
I also found a BADI called INST_AUTHORITY_CHECK which I think might help but how do I activate this? I'm using ECC6 and couldn't find it in SPRO.
Any other suggestions on how to do this role is greatly appreciated.

We can assisgn Insusrance Tab to Equipmnet , Please create the Charactetics name with Insurance using CT04 with Characteritic Value enter YES or No, Create one class using Cl01 , Then assign Characteritic Insurance to Class, then assign clss toequipmnet.

Alphnumeric External Number range for Equipment category
Hi,
Is there any other option that I can restrict length of external alpha numeric number range except that exit IEQM0003? This exit only applicable or restrict when you save the equipment.
Requirement is like external number range should be like AAA-000 to ZZZ-999. System must not allowed any other equipment number which is out of this range. ( must be 7 character)
As far as my understanding , system use string comparison once you use alphanumeric number range and you can create equipment with 18 char length except special character if above range is maintained.
Please correct me if i am wrong and suggest.

Its not available in Standard SAP, please use the user exit and tell the ABAPER to check the Equipment numbering (count) before entering into Creation screen. In IE01,entering equipment Number, Category and date after completion of this activity when we enter continue icon there u can put a condition to check the length of equipment number. I implemented that user exit and i got the result. its working fine. User Exit: IEQM0003.

ATP check for item category TAB
Folks,
we have item category TAB on our back to back sales orders and will create an individual pourchase order.
However, there are occassion when there is stock and we want the ATP check to consider and not necessarily create a purchase req.
is there any way to achieve this?
Or because TAB has Special stock indicator "E" type it is standard SAP and will always not consider stock?
ThanksThe purchase requisition is automatically created, there's no availability check behind item category "TAB". The stock is managed in the special stock segment (sales stock).
If the case when the stock is available is exception, you could change the item category manually to a normal one (e.g. TAN).

Budget checking for Q Category
Hi Experts,
We are using WBS Elements in Procurement Process, When we creating PR with account assignment to WBS with Category P
System is checking Budget and availability control is working fine but when i Creating PR against the AA Category Q
System is not checking the Budget Availability Control

I believe that your configuration is such that the inventoried materials are not taken under commitment whereas the direct costs/expenses are taken as commitment lines.
All you need is to check if a cost element is create for the G/L that appears while you are creating PR or PO. If no cost element exists, then system will not check with the Budget.
I will give you a simple example to understand this:
Make a PO with acc *** cat "P" and see the account assignment tab. Now see the G/L. Make a note of it. Now enter the WBS in the relevant section and you will find that the G/L has changed. If you check that G/L, a cost element will be assigned to that.
Now again make a PO with acc *** category "Q". See the Account assignment tab. Note down the G/L. Enter the WBS element and you will find that the same G/L appears again. If you analyse that G/L, there will be no cost element created for that.
The G/L basically appears based on the Automatic Account Determination by your MM/FI Consultant against the Relevant Transaction Keys.

Some external number range are not valid for equipment creation
Hi All,
What could be the reason even though the external number range is maintained for equipment category as a combination of ALFA Numeric, for certain combinations, system accepts while creating Equipment and for certain combination of ALFA numeric number, system is throwing error " equipment number not in external number interval".

As your define No. Range is :000AAA-1000 to 000ZZZ-9999.You can Not use No which Involves the Alphbatic Value as "AAA" As it is begaining of your number range .You can Check another upcomimg number which just fall after "AAA" is "ABA"it will accept.Number which come with "AAA" will not accept by system.So you need to start your numbering form the next number of your Define Lower Limit(starting point) value that is "ABA-....."

External Number Range setting for Equipment Not working
As per the Requirement I have assigned A00000000000 - ZZZZZZZZZZZZ to an equipment category through OIEN.
but I am getting the error message in the IE01 screen whenever I try to create an equiment with some external number for this category.
Equipment category does not allow alphanumeric equipment number
Can some one help whether anyother settings are needed.
(It is to be noted that system gives correct error message if I try to create equipment without giving external number - No internal number range defined for equipment category)

Check for Partner on Equipment Master (IE01)
We have a requirement to check that sold-to partner function is mandatory during equipment creation (IE01). This can be done via configuration. However, the requirement is also to allow users to delete this partner using IE02. Hence they only want the partner to be mandatory during IE01 and not IE02.
I believe only way to do this is using a user-exit. We know of a user-exit IEQM0003 that is allows us to put in logic before equipment is saved. However, this user-exit doesn't have parameters to partner data.
Is there any other user-exit that can be used?You could check to see if you could read the partner from the memory within the FM. However you could potentially accomplish the same using the following steps without programming..
You could use the View profile settings in configuration and transaction variant functionality (SHD0) to accomplish this.
-> As a first step Make sure to add the Partner view as a sub screen to the very first screen using View profile settings for the equipment category in SPRO. (This will force the partner field to be available directly on the initial screen when a piece of equipment is created).
---> Now create a Transaction variant for the standard transaction IE01 and here select the sold to partner custom type and leave the value field blank.Now on the configuration for the Transaction set the Partner type to be imported with value "SP" and mark the content field to be mandatory.Leave all other settings to default and save and exit.
---> Now set this Transaction variant as a standard variant for this transaction.
This should do the trick.The user will be forced to enter the sold to party on the screen.However for change transaction(IE02) the user can delete this partner type without any issues.

Credit Check while creation of Sales Order for Item Category Purchase Req
Hi Experts,
We are creating Sales Order using an Order Type ABCD for a material 1000. While creating Sales Order, we use Item categories (ZOVD, ZOVB,ZOST,ZOVP and ZOBO).
Credit Check settings are there at Order Type ABCD as well as all the Item Categories (ZOVD, ZOVB,ZOST,ZOVP and ZOBO). We are trying to test a scenario where a customer does not have enough credit limit while creating a sales order.
When we create a sales order for Item Categories (ZOVD, ZOVB,ZOST,ZOVP), credit check fails because our customer does not have enough credit limit, so that Sales Order gets created and Delivery does not get created (This is what we want), then we go into VKM1 manually and relase the sales order and then if we go to VA02 and check the status of the Sales Order, it says sales order status is complete. My Sales Team is saying here also Purchase Requisition is getting created.
When we create a sales order for Item category ZOBO, it is going into Purchase Requisition screen. Once we give another plant in the create purchase requisition screen and save it we are getting a message that cannot create Purchase Requisiton because of Credit Block.
The settings were same for all the Item categories.
1) What made difference to complete Purchase Requisition for Item Categories (ZOVD, ZOVB,ZOST,ZOVP) and not for Item Category ZOBO when my customer is not having enough credit Limit.
2) Why Purchase Requisition screen is not coming for us when we create an Sales Order for Item Categories (ZOVD, ZOVB,ZOST,ZOVP). We only get Create Purchase Requisiton Screen for Item Category ZOBO.

How to Check LT check box in IA02 - for Long text for Equipment Task list operations
Hi Experts,
I am trying to upload text for Equipment task list,i am able to upload texts at header,but not for operations.
At operations level - we have a check box LT which is grayed out - when am manually making an entry ( LT Check box - is getting checked when am creating entry manually ) - after manual entry - when i tried uploading text is working fine.
Can someone please tell me how to get the check box - checked - while saving text - using FM : SAVE_TEXT .

Authorizations for changes on a Equipment Category
How I can stop the changes for a single category of equipment? I'd like to block the IE02 transaction for a certain category of equipment leaving the authorization to make changes on the equipments of others categories.

I feel uncomfortable using apple account since last night i have created apple id and already charged for that. Also i downloaded one applicatiion (istorybook) which is said it free, and it was ok for last night. Today, just a few minutes ago, i have downloaded one more application which is said free but now i was charged form downloaded that applicatioin (my coloring pencil) and now it hasa not come up to my ipad. So i feel not so much secure using apple id which not the same as i used to have my apple id for Mac. Pls check for me, and if possible i need to cancel my apple id account. How can i do that?

LSMW for equipment creation-Standard Batch/Direct Input
Hi,
We developed an LSMW with standard batch / direct input method for creating equipment masters.
We used Object =0400 ( equipment ) and method = 0001 ( batch input)
We maintained source structures and source fileds. In the source field , we maintained only those fields that we need from table IBIPEQUI but in the order given in this structure.
Also we maintained filed mapping and field convertion rules for the above source fields.
When we run LSMW step - Display converted data , we see that
Transactions Read: 1
Records Read: 1
Transactions Written: 0
Records Written: 0
Not sure what could have gone wrong?
Please provide some clues to the following questions.
1) Should the source structure be same as fields from stuc. IBIPEQUI and should it include all the fields in the source structure?
2) Is field mapping required or not ?
3) We are getting an error - transaction is not supported in direct input mode.

When I read data with 1 record uploaded ( in the assign fields step , I did not choose "fields names at start of file" and also saved the file with tab delimited text format without field names), it shows as

The external number range for Equipment master
Dear Experts,
My client has requirement to use KKS code as Equipment number as they want to create Notification and Maintenance order using the KKS code.
For example 10H, 10BEB, 20BHB04, 10LBG10AA001, 10HLA13AA001A, 10ETG10AN001-E etc.
All these KKS codes has different character length hence it's not fit in any number range.
can anyone suggest the external number range that I can use for above requirement?

I have checked again. It is working correctly. Remember that the following setting the check box below the column A should be empty. This allows Alphanumeric characters in the numbers.

Equipment category and Authorization (4.6C)
Hi,
The Business requires us to control IE01/IE02 by "Equipment category" types. Already taalked to security folks. But looks like there is no authorization object to control by "Equipment category". There is only one field "EQTYP" but that is not related to any of the Authorization Objects. How do we take care of this? We don't want the users to change or create all the equipment types. Thanks for all the suggestions.

To do this, define two authorization groups and assign these to the two users 'A' and 'B' in their user master record.
The equipment must also be assigned to the two authorization groups.
The two users can then only process objects from their own user department.
Notes
If no authorization group is entered in an object, the check is not carried out. If this is the case, the user may process the object.
