Chinese language issue with I18N
Hello all,
We are implementing i18n in our project. And for that, we have a resource bundle with a chinese properties file with all chinese characters.
And i have saved that file with UTF-8 encoding. Then, when i run my application, iam getting someother special characters instead of chinese. When i hardcoded the chinese text in my flex mxml files, then im able to see chinese. But when it is coming from a properties file, im getting special characters.I have tried a full day to resolve this, but failed. Can somebody please help me to get through?
Use getCharCode() to pick apart the characters in the string to make sure they are the ones you expect. Then maybe try different fonts to make sure they have the correct mapping.

ZF (trad. chinese) language Issue
Hi
After Installation Traditional Chinese(ZF) language, and when I login to SAPGUI with ZF option, I notice that the SAP menu language with inappropriate characters like square box, ?, etc..
Is there any step which I need to execute as post language import steps?
Thanks & Regards
MadhuHi Madhu,
language import in NW 7.0 systems (including post processing) is described here:
https://service.sap.com/~form/sapnet?_SHORTKEY=01100035870000659947&_OBJECT=011000358700001183852006E
However I doubt that your problem is caused by missing language import tasks.
Are you using the latest SAPGUI patch ?
Can you please check SAP note 508854 (I assume you have a Unicode system ...) ?
Also a more detailed description according to SAP note 764480 could help to identify the issue (also in case you want to open a customer message).
Best regards,

Language Issue with Transactional data
I am running BW 3.5 with UNICODE linked to an R/3 system which is MDMP. We have multiple code pages in the R/3 system, and users log on in their native language, like Japanese or Chinese. With the sales item extract via 2LIS_11_VAITM, I have run into issues where users are typing Japanese or Chinese in the Unloading point description or the Incoterms 2 fields. Since the Sales documents do not have a "language" code, does anyone have an idea how I can identify these characters, and load them into BW? Right now they are failing as invalid characters. I cannot use the option to allow the special characters since I would need the entire alphabets of Japanese or Chinese.
Hi Scott,
you can try to set the flag for lower case letters for those infoobjects in the infoobject maintenance or try the approach in my weblog: /people/siegfried.szameitat/blog/2005/07/18/text-infoobjects-part-1

Help! Arabic language issues with CS5
Hi there
We are a clothing company situated in the West of Ireland who are currently producing brochures in 10 languages. We work from a central database into which all the languages are input and then, via InDesign CS2, they all flow into a master template and each language brochure is then produced. This has worked fine up to now, as we were using cyrillic based languages. However, we are now looking at producing brochures in Arabic, Russian and Chinese.
However, we're focusing on Arabic first.
We were advised by our mac dealership, that the CS5 suite would give us the functionality we needed for the 'Right to Left' Arabic content etc. I know InDesign ME is geared specifically for Middle Eastern languages, but we were under the impression that the CS5 suite would suffice and that there are scripts etc that can be added to InDesign that might solve the layout problems. I can import the data and flow all the text into the document, but we're stumbling on the rtl functionality.
Anyone got any helpful suggestions on our best way forward?
Thanks! If this is a one-off project, look at the scripts that turn on the World-Ready Composer.
If you will be handling RTL stuff on any kind of regular basis, I'd recommend World Tools from In-Tools. I use it all the time; it's brilliant.
Neither of these is going to free you from the necessity of having someone skilled in Arabic layout and typography on staff. Latin and Cyrillic are close enough to one another for someone skilled in Latin-script layout to learn how to do well without too much retraining; this is not the case with Arabic. -
Multi Language issue with Invoice Printing
I have a Custom Report for Invoice. Now it has been associated to a Concurrent Program and if I submit the request through SRS, I am able to see Report output.
Same report I have associated to iReceivables application and invoke it from there (using custom PL/SQL APIs). On invoking the procedure with the same same parameter list as in the first case, I donot get any output.
I have tried to see the log. The obvious difference I noticed is that on being submitted though the SRS, the NLS function returns a different Language code than when we see the request log of the case when it is being submitted through iReceivables.
Any clues can be really helpful.
Thanks
SumitFirst goto se73 and click on system barcode > then search for ur barcode name. if the barcode is a standard one, copy it into ur Z barcode and increase the size of barcode and then test it. As chinese character's are 2-byte so probably the barcode length is small.

Language issues with smartwatch2
Hi,
I've encountered a problem with the smartwatch 2. It does not show hebrew and it seems other right-to-left languages have the same issues.
however, I am able to see hebrew on contacts who call me but not at any other apps on the smartwatch.
is there a fix for this?
thanksI don't think Hebrew has ever been supported - the Hebrew you do see is probably a mirror of your phone like the contacts but other apps will resort to default language or that set in your watch settings - You could contact Sony care for further help http://www.sonymobile.com/global-en/support/contact-us/

Language issues with 11g xe and apex
Hi,
Nice work indeed, but I found that there's not a Chinese version of 11g xe, it is in English, and also for apex embeded, is it ok for me to do the same as before, to install a language for apex by running the script offered within the apex package?
After installing the apex app, some menus are in English in the interacitve report, like the 'action' button and its included functions, like aggregate, caculate, sort,Hi ,
I have found the way, as the manual stated:
3.3.10 About Running Oracle Application Express in Other Languages
The Oracle Application Express interface is translated into German, Spanish, French, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Brazilian Portuguese, Simplified Chinese, and Traditional Chinese. A single instance of Oracle Application Express can be installed with one or more of these translated versions. At runtime, each user's Web browser language settings determine the specific language version.
In order to install other languages you must use the apex_4.0.zip file which contains the extra files referenced below. If you previously downloaded apex_4.0_en.zip, then you don't need to re-install Oracle Application Express. Simply download apex_4.0.zip and unzip the file into the same directory where you unzipped apex_4.0_en.zip.
The translated version of Oracle Application Express should be loaded into a database that has a character set that supports the specific language. If you attempt to install a translated version of Oracle Application Express into a database that does not support the character encoding of the language, the installation may fail or the translated Oracle Application Express instance may appear corrupt when run. The database character set AL32UTF8 supports all the translated versions of Oracle Application Express.
You can manually install translated versions of Oracle Application Express using SQL*Plus. The installation files are encoded in AL32UTF8.
Note:
Regardless of the target database character set, to install a translated version of Oracle Application Express, you must set the character set value of the NLS_LANG environment variable to AL32UTF8 before starting SQL*Plus.
The following examples illustrate valid NLS_LANG settings for loading Oracle Application Express translations:
American_America.AL32UTF8
Japanese_Japan.AL32UTF8
3.3.10.1 Installing a Translated Version of Oracle Application Express
Whether you are installing for the first time or upgrading from a previous release, you must run the load_lang.sql script to run a translated version of Oracle Application Express.
The installation scripts are located in subdirectories identified by a language code in the unzipped distribution apex/builder. For example, the German version is located in apex/builder/de and the Japanese version is located in apex/builder/ja. Within each of directory, there is a language loading script identified by the language code (for example, load_de.sql or load_ja.sql).
To install a translated version of Oracle Application Express:
Set the NLS_LANG environment variable, making sure that the character set is AL32UTF8. For example:
Bourne or Korn shell:
NLS_LANG=American_America.AL32UTF8
export NLS_LANG
C shell:
setenv NLS_LANG American_America.AL32UTF8
For Windows based systems:
set NLS_LANG=American_America.AL32UTF8
Navigate to the directory under apex/builder based on the language you need to install. For example for German, navigate to apex/builder/de. Start SQL*Plus and connect to the database where Oracle Application Express is installed as SYS specifying the SYSDBA role. For example:
On Windows:
SYSTEM_DRIVE:\ sqlplus /nolog
SQL> CONNECT SYS as SYSDBA
Enter password: SYS_password
On UNIX and Linux:
$ sqlplus /nolog
SQL> CONNECT SYS as SYSDBA
Enter password: SYS_password
Execute the following statement:
ALTER SESSION SET CURRENT_SCHEMA = APEX_040000;
Execute the appropriate language specific script. For example:
@load_lang.sql
Where lang is the specific language (for example, load_de.sql for German or load_ja.sql for Japanese).
though I have to download apex 4.0.2, since the packages not avaliable within 11gXE. -
Chinese font issue with Oracle 6i
Hello all,
I am working on a Chinese report. when i open an existing RDF in Report Builder 6.0.8.24.0 and save it with out modification the lables in chinese (labels) characters are corrupted i.e I only see inverted question marks for the labels when I run the application on the server however the Chinese data from the database is displaying correctly. My local machine where I have the report builder running is windows 7.
The NLS lang parameter on the server is set to AMERICAN_AMERICA.UTF8.
What kind of configuration is needed on my system in order to display the labels in Chinese. Any help would be greatly appreciated!!
Thank You.
MegForms 6i connects to Oracle 9 databases just fine, even though it is no longer certified by Oracle.
First of all, can you connect to the database with SQL Plus? Make sure that works first.
The other thing that comes to mind is the AL32UTF8 character set. Forms 6i and other older Oracle software cannot connect to databases using it. But I have only seen that problem with Oracle 10g databases, so I am not sure about the Oracle 9 db.
Here is a thread discussing the problem: Re: connecting form 6i to oracle database 10G express edition -
Language issues with Apps. Store
Hi, I live in Thailand, my address is in Thailand so unfortunately this causes a problem with the Apps store.
If I enter details through the Thai site everything is in Thai and as a Brit. I need it in English! If I go to the UK Apps store, everything is in English but when I enter my billing/mailing as an address in Thailand....yes sadly, everything reverts to Thai language again.
I need the Thai Apps store with an English language option/facility......is this possible?
Because at the moment, I cannot buy Apps.......many thanks,

Language issues with iTunes Music Store
Why is it that, occassionally, when I open iTunes, all the Music Store stuff is in German (at least that what it looks like)?
I've figured out how to get it back to English by logging out and then logging back in, but how does it change when I'm not changing it and I have everything set to English? You don't even have to log out. Simply scroll to the bottom of the main store window, there will be a small flag icon with a drop down arrow, click on the arrow, & select the US store.

I have come across a very annoying language issue with my MBP.
I needed to set Chinese as the priority language in order to prevent iTunes from changing my chinese song names into weird characters thus ruining my album arrangement. But at the same time, it has created another problem that now every program's default language is Chinese.
Is there anyway to keep my song names intact while keeping the rest of OS X in English? Is there anyway to keep my song names intact while keeping the rest of OS X in English?
You should be able to have intact song names regardless of your OS language, as long as your ID3 tags are converted to Unicode. See this page for some info:
http://homepage.mac.com/thgewecke/mlingos9.html#itunes
In general, the language of any app can be made different than the OS language by doing File > Get Info > Language on the app icon and making sure that only the language you want is checked. -
Description for fixed assets in english & chinese language
Hi
Our chinese client wants to maintain description for fixed assets in chinese language along with English
Can any one let me know how to do this??
Regards, AjayHi Ajay,
You have only the text fields and there is no options to have more languages.
But you have 3 text fields from 50 long.
Use line 1 for Englisch and line 2 or 3 for Chinese, in the most report the text from line 3 is printed, but you can create more line variants.

Implementing Chinese language in Oracle 11g
Hi,
I had implemented Chinese language (along with the default English) in oracle 8i (Version 8.1.7) database with Character set = UTF8 and NLS_LANG=AMERICAN_AMERICA.UTF8.I am able to insert chinese as well as English characters through Forms 6i(Client side) into the above 8i database(server side).
I created Oracle 11g(Release 1) database with following configurations :
character set=AL32UTF8
NLS_LANG=AMERICAN_AMERICA.AL32UTF8 (in Registry)
But, when i try to insert the Chinese characters, Then i can see only the symbol '??????????' gets reflected from the database.
ALTER SESSION SET NLS_LANGUAGE="SIMPLIFIED CHINESE" NLS_TERRITORY=CHINA;
Also i tried the above command, but I end up only with ??????? instead of Chinese characters in SQL prompt.
Kindly provide the configurations needed to be made(both in the Client & Server side) to implement Chinese language (along with the default English) in Oracle 11g(Release 1) database.
