Chosing correct project dimensions?

Just when i thought i had all this stuff figured out...
my client is looking for a looping dvd to run on his new widescreen plasma screen to run from a set-top DVD player. The native resolution of the plasma screen is 1024x768. Do i set the canvas to the same resolution of the screen or the resolution the DVD player outputs? If the latter, what is the default resolution for standard consumer set top dvd players?
I'm getting confused between the hi-def presets that Motion has and the standard resolutions and anamorphic. (the last time i tried to do a dvd like this, we had to mess around with the plasma screen settings to scale the image and push it up/down to fit everything on the screen). argh.
G5 dual 2.0 3gbRam | 1.5ghz PowerBook 1.25gb Ram   Mac OS X (10.4.3)

It doesn't matter a hill of beans that he's got 1024x768 (which, btw, is NOT widescreen, that resolution is 4:3), if he wants widescreen output, you must live within the limitations of the delivery medium which, being a DVD player is SD.
So you want 720x486 anamorphic...

  • 2 selection Criteria on Profit & Loss Report (Project & Dimension)

    Good day Experts,
Is it possible for Profit & Loss Report to have 2 Selection Criteria? our client wants to have Profit & Loss Report per Product  (Project) & Branch (Dimension).
We tried to create an A/R & A/P Transactions with Project & Dimension defined for each line item, when we viewed the P&L Report, and select Project only as the Selection Criteria the P&L is correct, but when we included the Dimension on the Selection Criteria it only shows the Income / Turn-over Account Value & not viewing the COS / COGS Account Value.
Hope to hear from you soon. =)

First you should check in JE where project and profit center updated or not .because if account type is not Expenditure then cost center nerver effect JE entries .
And Project updated have not any issue but in Cost center it should be Expenditure Account in Chart of Account.
    Thanks

  • New FCP user trying to learn the correct project and export settings for HD

Hi, I am a novice and have used FCP on my laptop for university projects only, and now have been asked to cut a trailer for a 7 min HD Pilot.
    A. I had to work in a different part of the country for the last 2 weeks therefore making this more problematic for myself long term hence:
    B. I have only been given a QT file of the pilot, as to cut a rough idea of the trailer, which I will then have to redo with the original HD files, when I return to them tomorrow.
    C. I created a low res QT to work with in FCP and have probably set up my project in a odd/wrong way and need to export this DV low res version for viewing by tomorrow, and I would ideally like it to look like the right aspect ratio and what not.
I know very little about ratios and interlaced and progressive files, and this project has been shot manly on a digital SLR camera for the animation, it has After Effects files and with sections of live action which I think was shot in HD 'i' mode.
I would like to learn quickly the sort of setup I should have for this kind of project, how I should export this low res DV version for viewing and for exporting the final HD project with what settings I should use.
I am sure I should have detailed more information, but as it is im not sure what is relevant. I can find out if im pointed in the right direction.
    Hope someone can help
    Cheers

    B. I have only been given a QT file of the pilot, as to cut a rough idea of the trailer, which I will then have to redo with the original HD files, when I return to them tomorrow.
Well, this will make cutting more difficult. Because a low res version of the trailer will not have any timecode...nothing that references the main movie. So you will do the cut with the QT movie and then have to go back and eyematch-cut the trailer with the high res footage. Not fun and very time consuming. Not to mention that you will be cutting with the mixed audio of the trailer, including music and that will not sound right when you cut the trailer with the new music.
You need a QT version of the movie that contains the timecode of the original master (using media Manager to recompress to DV or other offline codec will do this), and you REALLY need to get split track audio. If they are record producers, they'll know what that is.

  • How to view correct image dimensions in design view?

I am new to Dreamweaver cs6. In previous version, the dimensions of an image is directly reflected in the design view. Now it doesnt appear to do so. Does anyone know if there is a setting to fix this? It looks fine when I preview in the browser, but I'd like to see how my page elements fit together in the design view. Any suggestions?

Here is the code for a similar example:
      <td width="409" height="37"><img width="409" height="1" border="0" style="display:block; line-height:0;" src="http://offers2.compuware.com/rs/compuware/images/spacer.png" alt=""></td>
Although the height is set to 1, it is showing a height much larger than that (in both the design view and browser preview)
Thanks! I really appreciate the help.

  • How to correctly merge dimension.

    Hi expert,
I have two bex query, want to marge their dimension together, but one query has more values for dimension employee, and another query has less. when merge those two queries, their employee values are not combined together. such as in query 2, have only 10 employees; in query 1, having 20 employees. when I first run query 2, then pulling in query 1, after merging, there are only 10 employees dsplayed in report. please tell me how to merge those employees together, counting 30 employees for two query, if those employees are different.
    Many Thanks,

    Hi,
Re check if you are pulling merged object only or not.
    See sample attached screenshot.
when I first run query 2, then pulling in query 1, after merging, there are only 10 employees dsplayed in report.
(What do you mean by this statement?.How are you pulling objects from query 2 to 1.)

  • How do you crop outside of the project dimensions?

I have footage that's shot in 2.7k resolution. But my project is only 1080. When I put the clip into the project I think it's auto cropped into 1080 that's great. But I want to use the extra resolution for my own cropping. Maybe there's a corner I want to focus in. Or maybe I want to use the extra resolution for stablization. How do I do that?

Select the clips you want to reframe in the project and in the video inspector change the spatial conform to none.

  • What is the correct project setting for a high definition slideshow?

I'm using Premiere Elements 11 and when I drag my jpeg photos on the timeline, I see the orange line across them; when rendered, the photos are cropped.  The last time I successfully created slideshows was in PE 8 and I never had this problem!

Please do not judge the photogenic quality of the slides I picked for these two slide show examples.
The project setting is AVCHD 1080p60.
https://vimeo.com/60952115 This is a 22 second video where, as a self training exercise, I tried the resizing suggestions from Bill, Steve and Ann in other threads on this same subject.  I found no improvement, or degradation, to quality or processing performance -- regardless of how I resized or didn't resize.
https://vimeo.com/60904593 This is a 20 second, 6 random slide, video to verify resizing was not needed.  All  the slides were brought directly from my HDD into PrE11 with the "Add Media" function.  They are about 20MB each, in a Sony RAW format and original un-resized files.  There were no issues in the process.
Although not demonstrated in these two videos, the Pan and Zoom feature in PrE11 works wonderfully on these un-resized photos.
Vimeo allows you do download the actual .mp4 files I uploaded if you want to look closer as the product.
It has been mentioned in other posts that resizing may well have been necessary in earlier versions of PrE and may still be needed if you lack a strong computer.  Nowhere, that I can find, is it mentioned as necessary or suggested in Adobe authored instructions or tutorials.
Other than project presets or video driver issues I do not know why PrE11 slide shows work so well for me and cause problems for others.
For Steve, Ann and Bill, can I provide screen shots of PrE11 settings or samples of anything via DropBox?

  • Correct project settings for Brinno time lapse cameras?

    Hi,
I am totally new to all this so please forgive if an obvious answer.  I have been doing a building project time lapse using some time lapse cameras by Brinno. They are the TLC200's (http://www.brinno.com/html/TLC200.html). I am about to start a new project to put together the final timelapse but have no idea what type project settings to start it as. They claim to record in 1280x720 HD and output a raw avi file of the time lapse sequence after filming (each frame i think is captured as jpeg). You pre set the number of frames it takes (eg 1 every 30 minutes like I have) and what frame rate it puts the sequence of individuale captures together and outputs to the avi file (I choose 10 fps). That is all the informatoin I have. Any ideas?
    Many thanks
[I though I would also mention it is ultimately going to be around a 1min30s - 2 min video at the end to be posted on youtube.]

First, you need to find out exactly what is inside your file
Read Bill Hunt on a file type as WRAPPER http://forums.adobe.com/thread/440037
    What is a CODEC... a Primer http://forums.adobe.com/thread/546811
What CODEC is INSIDE that file? http://forums.adobe.com/thread/440037
Report back with the codec details of your file, use the programs below... a screen
shot works well to SHOW people what you are doing

    For PC http://mediainfo.sourceforge.net/en or http://www.headbands.com/gspot/

Also... if your "raw avi file" uses the H.264 codec... it will not work

Also... you mention jpeg... which may or may not work

  • What is the correct project setup format?

My footage is AVCHD 1080p 1.66 ratio at 29.97 FPS, my output is for youtube HD so I'm outputting MP4 1280x720, 1.0 ratio, 23.97 FPS.
When I'm creating a project, what should I setup the sequence specifications to be?  Match the AVCHD or match the MP4?  Something entirely different?

  • What Project Settings to Use?

    Hi,
I am very new to this program and would like to put together a movie using video clips taken from my iPhone. When complete, it will need to be saved as an FLV for web viewing. What settings should I use when I create a new project in PrE12? Also, I want to insert slides in between clips. If I create them in PhotoShop or Illustrator, what dimensions should they be if I want them to be the same dimensions as the video clips? Thanks for any help!

    HapJax
Premiere Elements 12, like version 11, takes over setting the project preset (project settings) based on the properties of first drag to the Expert workspace Timeline. If that project preset set by the program matches the properties of your source file, then you should have no colored line over the the Timeline content (as the first drag to that Timeline).
Sometimes the program does that OK, sometimes not. If not, then you set the project preset manually yourself based on the file properties that you know before importing media into the project. When the program does not do it right, it does not give you the closest to what it should be but rather its default NTSC AVCHD Full HD1080i30 or its PAL counterpart.
Now here is the bottom line here...if you let the program set the project preset for you and you get an orange line over its content, you do not render the Timeline to get the best possible preview. You set the project preset manually according to the properties of the source media and then move on as indicated above.
Once you start editing your video (working in a project set with the correct project setting), you will get an orange line over the edited content - program telling you that you need to render the content to get the best possible preview. The time for "rendering" for preview purposes according to the color indicator system is after edits, not after the first drag to the timeline.
That is my take on the situation.
If clarification on anything that I have written, please do not hesitate to ask.
    Thanks.

  • Any advantages of using HD in an SD project?

    Hi there,
Apologies if this question has been asked and answered - I ran a search but couldn't find a "specific" answer if you will.
I've been given the proposal of producing an SD project but utilising HD footage; which I know is possible!
But the guy who is handing over the job is insisting we can take advantage of the HD footage within the SD project as it'll be larger than our PAL SD "canvas" [which I know is true], which means we can [and I quote] "zoom in and retain detail".
I'm really not so sure this is possible!? As I was under the impression that any HD footage brought into an SD project would be automatically resized to fit the project dimensions!
Could anybody kindly point me in the right direction? And to be honest I'd rather we have the piece shot as we intend it to look [or as close as] in the final edit, ie. cut aways, close-ups, wides, etc., rather than relying on a probable myth of the above!
    Many thanks in advance.
    Regards, Mark.
      Mac OS X (10.4.7)

    Hi there Jerry,
Many thanks for the reply and the warm welcome -- I've been lurking around these parts for months now, but it's my first post!
Well, I'll be honest and admit to being shocked -- don't you hate when you're wrong?!
I was absolutely certain that importing HD into SD would simply be re-sized to the SD dimensions! Oh well...
But [and as you rightly said] I would rather see the material shot correctly for "correct use" in the first place rather than relying on the fact that we could possibly zoom-in [which is often an unatural move in interview situations].
I need to convince the "guy" [as we shall now call him] of the need to storyboard and script [of which they will be rather than vox-pops] the end use of the interviews.
Another day, another dollar... Or pound sterling in my case!!
    Many thanks once again.
    Regards, Mark.

  • Pixel dimensions for stills in FPCX?

For use in a FCPX HD project, at what ppi do you recommend scanning? Then do you recommend taking it into photoshop? At what pixel dimensions do you recommend saving it -- and in what format -- jpeg or tiff? Thank you!

Andy, I'm not disagreeing with you at all and I fully understand how it works. I'm just not articulating myself properly. I'm only talking about setting the scanner software for best results. When you scan, you set the dpi and the size of the scanned document being scanned. The size of the scanned document on the scanner is a physical size (inches). The combination of the scanned size (inches), the dpi setting and the scale factor controls the resulting pixel dimensions. The scale factor should always be 100% for best quality.
When you scan a document you can't control the physical size of the document. It is what it is. So you need to select the physical size of the document on the scanner bed (in inches). Then to get the correct pixel dimensions, you need to select the correct dpi for the scanner to use. See my example in Epson Scan software.
If you choose a different dpi in the scanner SW, then the resulting image will need to be scaled after the scan is complete to get the correct "target" pixel dimensions. If you scale after scanning, you are either creating or destroying pixels. Better to set the correct dpi before scanning.
Note that the scale factor in my example below is 100%. That means the correct pixel dimensions will be captured natively from the scan and not modified after the fact.
I agree once you have the image scanned, the dpi becomes irrelevent. But it does matter to the scanner software.

  • Oracle Project Analytics - Project Manager Security Implementation

Has anyone implemented a security scenario for Project Managers, such that they can only see the information associated to their projects when using EBS as the source? If so,
    - How did you identify the relationship between project managers and their projects? Did you use an initialization block and pull this information in from EBS?
    - Where did you define the security/filtering configuration so that they were limited on what they could see?
    - Did you create a custom responsibility for 'Project Managers' and have them access a set of Project Manager dashboard/reports that followed the Project Manager security model?
    Thanks in advance.

Oracle Project Analytics - Project Manager Security Implementation

    Coolmesh84,
Thanks for the great info and reply. This makes complete sense to me, but I just want to make sure I am clear on a couple points:
+1. Use an initialization box to filter the user's emp id+
You mean use an init block to pull the users employee id and store it in a session variable correct? The session variable will then be used later as part of the filter criteria.
*2. and add a filter to the required dimension table in business layer to filter based on the project_manager_id column for the project manager group.+*
To implement the step above, would you follow theses steps:
    1. Go to Manage->Security
    2. Under Groups, select the group planned to be utilized for this filter (in this case I double clicked the Project Manager group).
    3. I then Click permissions button for this group
    4. Go to the Filters tab of the window that pops up
    5. Add a filter, go to BMM tab and select the Project dimension and then define a filter for Proj Mgr Id = nqsession.employeeid
+3. Ideally you should be able to use the OOTB project manager group for this security.+
This is a good point, but a few more questions here - There are a number of Project related groups (see below) in the out of box Oracle BI Apps RPD and all of them essentially roll up to the super group 'Operating Unit Org-based Security'. Is there a best practice or preferred approach for utilizing these groups as they related to Oracle EBS v12? Is there any good documentation out there to see what the intended use and setup is for these groups? Do all of these groups relate back to an EBS Responsibility? I have read through the OBIA Security Configuration document and basically all it says is to enable the operating unit org initilization block and thats all .. not really all that helpful.
    Thanks again - k

  • New sequence vs new project

Hey guys, quick question. I'm putting together something that is going to end up being 12 dvd's...all separate in their own right. Each dvd will share some of the same chapters...but will still be their own entity. I have all the clips that I'm using in one project. Do I need to create 12 different projects or can I just create different sequences or does it not matter? I have an external hard drive, but still wouldn't like to take up more space than needed...thanks for the help!!!

It doesn't really matter from a 'technical' perspective, however, it does make a different when it comes to project management. I'm a real sucker for clear, organised projects, where the assets in the browser are sensibly categorised and managed. You never know if/when/why you'll need to return to a project, so maintaining a clean and tidy browser is essential in my opinion.
From what you've described, I would leave them all in one project but make separate bins for the assets relating to each DVD. However, I'm not looking at what you're looking at so it's quite tricky to suggest the correct project management.
You say each DVD will be a separate entity, but they share some of the same chapters? So it sounds like they are linked by theme, in one way or another.
In regard to external hard drive space, that's not a problem, as you will not be duplicating your actual media files (video/audio etc) if you create separate FCP Project files. Project files are small.
