Cisco support degrading...

Any one out the feel that Cisco support is degrading? It was a lot better a few years ago. Could it be firing those 10000 staff upset the support team?

I'm sorry but your first sentence is very broad.
May I request if you can elaborate?  What are you trying to do, what did you experience?  Maybe we can offer some form or alternative.

    Hi There,
Does Cisco support a Unity Connection 8.5 solution/design with the Single Inbox Feature (for Unified Messaging) configured with Exchange 2003, or does it support the Single Inbox feature on Exchange 2010 only?
    Thanks

Thanks Anthony - I just found an updated doco that confirms that.

  • Cisco support group in the Boston Area..

i would like to know if it is a cisco support group here in the Boston Area, where their meet to do LAB and learn NETWORK.

Ohh that's cool. Though do you live North of Rt. 9 or South? I know quite a few people who live near Jennings Pond, and Border Rd. Did you grow up here in Natick? I graduated from NHS in 2003. Any kids around my age?

  • Cisco Support

I needed to download the latest firmware for E3000 wireless router.  I first started on Friday night, went to E3000 support page and then to the Download section.  There you are required to input your version.  But for my page I got, it wouldn't allow me to input anything.  I've done this Saturday several time and Sunday several time but get the same results.  To see if the E3000 page was bad, I tried the WRT610 (my old router) download page and got the same thing of not allowing me to input anything.  Am I doing something wrong or is there a problem with Cisco Support?  Any help anyone can give me would be appreciated.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

I went to another computer in the house and was able to download the lastest firmware without any problems.  This tells me I've some type of problem with my main computer.

OK I tired this looks like it works on Unity Connect 8.5   Not quite a complete solution.  The media player does not always play the message all the way thru, sometimes it wont play the entire messate.  I want to know in what method is the password encrypted or stored.  I think it has potential but not quite ready for Enterprise

  • Cisco support for the UK DASS signalling protocol on CCME ?

I have a client who currently has an old Meridian PBX that has a DASS (G.703) connection to the PSTN with 9 channels. I wish to replace this with a 2821-CCME.
Does Cisco support PSTN connectivity with DASS/G.703 using CCME and a VWIC2-1MFT-G703? If so can you please point me to any configuration guides.
    Thanks in advance,
    Gordon.

    mchandak,
Honestly I don't know what makes you believe that.
    1) the main protocol/standards used on ISDN PRI are from bottom to top, G.703, G.704, Q.921 and Q.931, no matter if you have H.323, SIP, MGCP or SCCP as VoIP signaling protocol.
    2) CCME can perfectly "control" a gateway using any of above protocol except MGCP.
    3) In the original question, there is no gateway/backend, just one single CCME router.

I’m working with a team exploring ways to improve your TAC Support experience.  Several questions have come up that we would like customer/partner feedback on.  Here’s the first one:
    1.     What data or information are you asked for repeatedly when working TAC cases that you wish Cisco would remember?
For each piece of data or information:
1a. Is that data or information specific to you (i.e. your id) or shared by your group (i.e. a topology) or everyone at your company (i.e. company size)
1b. How frequently does the data or information change?
I look forward to you input.
    Best,
    --Mary

I would agree with Leo on this as well, but one thing to add. Based on the contract number it should show the installed site and the address where that piece of equipment is located. I try and keep that updated for all our equipment for that reason. Like Leo suggested, rather than TAC asking for the ship to information, it should just confirm the ship to address. I know that may seem minor but I don't remember all my locations addresses and if I am out of the office when TAC asks for the information it just delays the whole situation.
Something maybe to add.....If we could store say a parts list (like a Show Inventory output) for all of our equipment under our contracts that might also help TAC better understand what the setup is much quicker. Then with that information Cisco could use it to more accurately stage inventory for different regions.
One more thing...... TAC does a great job and keep up the great work.

  • Cisco support for third-party apps on SRE?

Hi - I am thinking about running some third-party unified communications apps under VMWare ESXi5 on a Cisco SRE 900 module.   According to the Cisco docs, third-party apps are supported on these modules (see table below) but the app in question is NOT on Cisco's list below.
    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/prod/collateral/modules/ps10598/data_sheet_c78-553913.html
    Some questions:
    1.  As long as the third-party app is capable of running under VMWare/VSphere ESXi5, is there anything on the SRE that would prevent you from running this third-party app even though it's not on Cisco's list?
    2.  What is Cisco's policy on the use of third-party apps that are not on their list?    For example, will they take a support call on the SRE running a non-listed app (I am not expecting them to help me with the app but I don't want to void any sort of support contract through the use of a third-party app not on their list).
    Thanks !

As long as 3rd party app is capable of running on ESXi 5 it would run on SRE hardware. Cisco doesn't prevent these apps from running even if they are competitive. From a support perspective Cisco TAC will not take any support calls for these applications nor would know how to redirect the call to these 3rd party partners. Cisco TAC will only support SRE and ESXi related issues.

  • Cisco support of ldp host address FECs

I am wondering how I would configure my cisco 7206 for ldp host address fecs. When my cisco gets label mapping messages with prefix fecs (fec tlv type 2 as opposed to fec tlv type 3) with a prefix length of 32, it does the right thing, The label binding is added to the ldp lib and the mpls forwarding table is updated appropriately. However, when the cisco recieves a label mapping with a host address fec, it does nothing with the message. It seems to just drop it. How do I configure the cisco to do the appropriate thing with these label mappings?? Are host address fecs supported by cisco??

Host FECs are curently supported. We use an address prefix with a /32 to accomplish the same. A notification is sent to the peer issuing this type of FEC and this event should be logged locally on the receiving router as well.
    Hope this helps,

  • Cisco Support contract part number is needed !

my company just ordered fornew LMS release and exactly needed the support to open TAC's .
I searched but couldn't find the part number for this, some one send me this part number CON-PSUS-LMS410K9,
I searched but I could not find anything usefull, it would be very appreciated if someone help me to work it out.
    thank you

    Hi Ali,
I guess more than the part number if you enter the Serial number or contract covering your Ciscoworks can work for you.
Contract is a must to open a TAC case. Moreover for further enquiry you can mail [email protected] who can assist you open a case with available details or you can call CIN @ 800-553-2447.
    -Thanks

  • Cisco support LDAP Authentication - Multiple Domains

    Hi,
I want to change the LDAP authentication as the multiple domains and my Windows AD environment is the child trust, that mean the root DC is the "abc.com", which have the two child DCs, e.g. "us.abc.com ", "uk.abc.com"
Is it possible I just changed the LDAP auth. with user search space as the root DC is fine?
    OR
I must use the "userPrincipalName" ?

But it had the collision SAMAccountName, that would have the same account name between the us.abc.com and uk.abc.com.
If I changed the "userPrincipalName" LDAP sync to CM, how about the Jabber login?

  • A list of supported Android Phones for Cisco Jabber Client.

    Hi there,
I opened a discussion before about the Cisco Jabber Client for Android phones.
This product from Cisco is only official support bij a several mobile Android telephones. (very poor)
As everyone knows is that the mobile market is continious in development. Since a half year the official support phone list is still the same, but a lot of new Adroid phones are now on the market.
It's even so worse that some of the Cisco supported phones, are not available anymore in the market.
    - Samsung Galaxy S2 becomes a Samsung Galaxy S3
    - Samsung Galaxy TAB is still there
    - Samsung Galaxy S (are not available anymore) The S1 or S Plus are now becoming the Samsung Galaxy S Advanced.
    At what are the alternatives?
Still the list on the documentation is out-dated.
    See:
Samsung Galaxy S International (GT-I9000) with Android operating system (OS) Version 2.2.1 or 2.3
Samsung Galaxy Tab International (GT-P1000) with Android 2.2.1 or 2.3
Samsung Galaxy S II (AT&T) with Android 2.3
To use Cisco Jabber for Android on the Samsung Galaxy S device, it is important that you upgrade your handset OS to Android Version 2.2.1 or 2.3. See the manufacturer/carrier site for more information about how to update the OS on your device. Minor voice quality issues may be experienced depending on the device used.
So hopefully Cisco is still working on the Cisco Jabber solution, and a lot of mobile Android phones will be supported so the road to success will be open.
Hopefully someone can help me to list of tested and supported phones (Official bij Cisco)
    Kind regards,
    Edgar

The official list of tested Android phones is what you've already discovered.  With the next release of Cisco Jabber for Android, I'm sure it will be updated.
While the official list of what we tested is short, the client will work on many Android devices and TAC will provide support if you run into technical issues; provided the issue is with the Cisco Jabber client itself, and not with the OS of the manufacturer.
If there is a specific Android phone you are looking to have officially tested by Cisco, PM me with that information and I'll work with you to see what we can do to get it added.

  • Cisco ASA 5505 - problems getting support

My employer has an ASA 5505 device that has been here longer than any body working here. I've tried to get my hands on some updated software or support but to little avail. I've contacted Cisco support online and they keep telling me to contact my Cisco service sales representative. Now that would be fine if anybody could remember who they are. I suspect they are not even in business anymore.
Not particularly helpful at the end of the day.
I am very close to throwing in the towel with this Cisco. All I want to do is upgrade the firmware to address some known issues we are experiencing with our current firmware.
Any other avenues I am missing?

Hi Ferdinand. I don't know what a Smartnet contract is. How do I know if we have one? This ASA basically hasn't been touched for 5 years. Almost the entire staff has rotated through this company since then and nobody knowns anything. I found the invoice for it this morning after accounts searched for it, but it appears to have been purchased from a non services retailer. I contacted them and while they confirm they sold it to us they know nothing about it. They don't offer service.
    What are my options?
