Cisco unified Operation Manager 2.3 with CUCM 8.6

Hi Guys,
My Customer today have CUOM 2.3 and CUCM 7.1.3. He is planning to do upgrade CUOM 8.6 and CUCM 8.6. My question is: Is it possible to do upgrade CUOM directly to 8.6? If CUOM to be upgraded to 8.X do we need to purchase the upgrade license?
Thanks,
Wilson

I don't think you can install on top of CUOM 2.3, a CUOM 8.X. Not even a 8.0
As said, you can restore a CUOM 2.3 backup on an 8.X.
http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/net_mgmt/cisco_unified_operations_manager/8.5/installation/guide/install.html#wp1054045
As far as I can see after CUOM 8.5 the 2.3 migration path is no longer mentioned.
Cheers,
Michel

  • Event in Cisco Unified Operations Manager makes no sense

    Hi
    The ennvironement is as follows:
3 CCM 4.x Cluster and lot of h323 Gateways. All is controlled by a gatekeeper.
For monitoring purposes I'm running a Cisco Unified Operations Manager 2.0.2. From a h323 gateway I recieve an event, that there happend packet loss and that the MOS was below the critical MOS threshold. As destination I see another h323 gateway in the same cluster. What does this mean? For me there is never voice between these 2 gateways. For me this event makes no sense. On the gateways everything looks fine, there are no drops or errors neither on the interface nor on the service-policy.
Any idea why it's generating this event?
    Regards
    Peter

    Hi Peter,
I think it would be best if you could get a packet capture (at the point of the 1040 sensor) during the times of one of these low MOS scores and then open a TAC case. The TAC engineer will need to contact the 1040 sensor developers to understand how exactly they are calculating packet loss and the packet capture will help greatly in finding the root cause. There are two components to packet loss for a 1040 sensor.
    1) Actual network packet loss (i.e. based on missing sequence numbers).
    2) Packets lost in the jitter buffer emulation (packet discards). This will
count as a packet loss for any packet that arrives 20ms past its expected
arrival time OR any "out of order" packet. Since the packets for a G711 are
sent at a 20ms rate, a packet which is delayed 20ms may arrive out of order and
    be counted as lost.

  • Cisco Unified Operations Manager v Cisco Service Monitor

I am unfamiliar with both od these products. Both seem to overlap in that they seem to aim for end to end voice quality management, relying on the 1040 probe.
Am I off base here? Are they similar products, one or both maybe OEM'd???
    Are they widely deployed?
    Any thoughts welcome.
    Regards

    Hi Gordon,
They are very much complimentary. In fact, installing OM used to install SM by default on same box.
OM doesn't collect info from the 1040 probes. SM does this, and then alerts to OM if thresholds are breached.
OM will then display the alert.
Operations Manager is very much about actively monitoring the health of the UC environment. Here's a couple of practical examples of what it does:
    - Maps out a logical view of the environment
    - Performs scheduled tests - checks CM reg, dial tone, TFTP
    - Simulates calls with both synthetic phones and even real phones
    - Interactive tests - check phone features are working etc
    - Performance management - view utilisation of GW's CM's etc.
    - IP SLA - simulated calls, jitter testing across the network using routers / switches and IP SLA features
    - Alert monitoring - dashboard view
Service Monitor is very focussed on measuring the actual user experience of calls.
    - It can use CDR / CMR records (with no 1040 HW sensors deployed) to record, and monitor the quality of individual calls
    - It can also use the 1040 HW sensors to collect more granular call quality details.. (it sends the details to SM via syslog constantly)
    - Report and alert on call quality based on thresholds (Alerts are sent to OM and appear in your alerts window)
The only real overlap I would say is that OM does some quality tests with IP SLA, but it is based on synthetic calls rather than working with data about real calls.
There is also another module, Unified Service Statistics Monitor, I'd recommend looking at this too, it provides the historical component, and also a variety of different reporting - including service levels and executive style dashboards.
I've done a few deployments. Standard network management principles apply, and I think this is where a lot of them fall down. No product can manage your network for you automatically, the biggest part is people and process. Once you have this in place you can definitely use products like OM, SM to automate and simplify.
The larger and more complex your network, the more valuable and useful these products can become.
My recommendation is to get the eval copy, and try them out. You do need to think carefully about what you want to achieve though, without this step, an install of these products probably won't impress. The art is all about the setup.
    Cheers,
    Tim

  • Cisco Unified Operation Manager: can not see the Campus manager

    Dear all,
I have installed the CUOM to manage my IPT system. I have successfully installed without any errors. The system now can detect all IPT system components but I have a problem. From the Tool on Service Level View, I only the option for Alert History and can not see the option for Campus manager to customize the topology (like the tool on Ciscoworks LMS).
    Please give me some advices.
    Thank you,
    Thanh

On the administration page, you will be able to see "View Reports For" header on the top.
Under that header you will see the following fields:
    User ID/Type/Last/Status/Folder /Instance
Above values will be used by PeopleSoft to filter and display the list of reports
If the user has selected Status as Processing and saved the page, PeopleSoft will only show reports which are in Processing status.
If user runs a report and it has been posted, it will not show up in report manager coz the filter value is set to Processing.
Hope this helps. I dont think Permissions has anything to do with this since user is able to view the page.

  • Cisco Unified Operations Manager 8.0 - Attempted Calls

    Hi All
I'm running CUOM 8.0, I can see in the call statistics graph that there are quite alot of attempted calls as per the attached screenshot, can anyone advise what is determined as an attempted call within CUOM and if there is anyway I see what these calls were.

    Hello,
you can see the attempted calls only in the CDR's of CUCM or if you installed the CUSM in Administration "UC Management Station" >> "Service Monitor" >> "CDR Call Record Reports" or "QVTC Report".

  • Cisco Prime Unified Operations Manager 9.0, "Service Level View" problem.

    Hello to all.
Hope this mail finds all of you well.
    I have a problem with a CUOM Prime 9.0.
The customer's infrastracture is a cluster CUCM (VM), 9.1.2.
The CUCM cluster is up and running and all the cisco devices can be discovered.
The customer wants to use a Cisco Prime Unified Operations Manager 9.0 in order to monitor all the Cisco devices.
Also, in the CUOM server have been installed the browser "I.E 8.0" and the browser "Firefox Mozila" (Firefox Setup 10.0.5esr).
The problem that I faced is that the page "Service Level View" can not be displayed.
When I try to use the "Internet Explorer" the loading bar is being displayed, but can not be completed.
When I try to use the "Firefox Mozila" a message is being displayed and prompt me to install the last Flash Player,
    which is already installed.
Can anybody help me on that  problem?
Thank you very much in advance.
    Regards,
    Isidoros

Finally, the solution of the problem was:
1-stop the daemon manager “net stop crmdmgtd”
2- Delete the xml files available under(please take backup from them) :
    CSCOpx\objects\sir\work
    CSCOpx\objects\topo\work
3-Start the daemon manager  net start crmdmgtd  (wait for 20 minutes until all process are up )

    Hello Robert,
Apologies for a delayed response, some days get very hectic.
In CallManager, we only define the SRST reference, and CUCM version and SRST version are independent of each other.
The only thing, which is related and will change with CUCM upgrade is Phone F/w version.
    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/voice_ip_comm/cucm/compat/ccmcompmatr1.pdf
You may just want to check your, phone f/w compatibility with the SRST version running on your ISR G1 Gateways:
    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/sw/voicesw/ps2169/products_device_support_tables_list.html
    For Example: SRST version 7.1
    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/prod/collateral/voicesw/ps6788/vcallcon/ps2169/data_sheet_c78-520521.html
You may want to do some lab testing with CUCM 9.1 and an SRST supported f/w on your phones.
If you decide to run the old Phone/F/w to support the SRST version, you may not be able to take advantage of new features.
Also, you can try and upgrade your phones(Wih CUCM 9.1) and test them with your SRST version.
It should work fine, but from a troubleshooting perspective, TAC may request you to come into a Cisco Supported combination.
Please, let me know if this clarifies your doubt or we can have a quick phone call.
    Regards
    Amit Singh

    Hi Maheshwar,
Thank you for your query. Please find my response below:
1> Do we support recording with HCS environment and which 3rd party vendors are validated with HCS based call control 10.1.1?
Answer: Whether you use a standalone UCM cluster, UCCE or HCS, call recording would be supported across the board in the same manner.
Please refer to the following link:

  • Cisco Unified Communications Manager AXL servers option appear deactivated in cisco unity connection

I have a  problem, the tab with the Cisco Unified Communications Manager AXL servers option  is disabled or appear disabled in CUC. any idea what might be going on, I checked  that the service relates to AXL is on and running in CUCM and CUC. My version is CUCM and CUC BE 7.1

This is disabled on BE 5000 servers because CUCM and CXN are coresident on the same OS. AXL integration is pre-built and required. This is only enabled for an administrator to configure/edit on standalone CXN installs.

  • Cisco Unified Communications Manager Business Edition

    Hi,
As per my understanding this is only one server solution and you can not have more than one server i.e no sub only Pub. Is this correct?
    Thanks
    Ati

    Hi Ati,
You are most correct :) This is is "single server" solution for small to medium sized businesses up to 500 users. It comes packaged with Unity Connection for Voicemail.
    Here is a clip;
"Cisco Unified Communications Manager Business Edition is an easy-to-manage solution that combines voice, video, mobility, and messaging on a single server to simplify system administration and reduce hardware and operating expenses. This solution provides cost-effective deployment options for medium-sized organizations with smaller IT staffs that require all the advanced capabilities of Cisco Unified Communications Manager (formerly Cisco Unified CallManager), Cisco Unity Connection, Cisco Unified Mobility (formerly Cisco Unified MobilityManager), and integrated management on a single server to expedite migration to unified communications."
    From this good doc;

  • Cisco Unified Communications Manager

Can someone tell me the main diferences between OCMS and Cisco Unified Communications Manager?
    Best regards,
    Joel.

1.Licensing on v10 is not different from version9. But yes it has been renamed to Cisco Prime License Manager.
If you compare licenses on v10 to CUCM version 8.X or earlier, then in that case you will see a BIG change. If you need more info about this change please do let me know.
2.IM and Presence Service Release 10.0(1) is supported only with Cisco Unified Communications Manager Release 10.0(1).
Note IM and Presence Service Release 9.1(x) is supported only with Cisco Unified Communications Manager Release 9.1(x).
    Source: http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/voice_ip_comm/cucm/compat/10_x/CUCM_BK_CD1DB914_00_compat_matrix/CUCM_BK_CD1DB914_00_compat_matrix_chapter_011.html#CUP0_RF_SECB5848_00
    3. End user features include SAML SSO, vido on hold (contact center environment), etc. This session on routing enhancement covered urgent priority which would also translate to end user experience as they might not face the delay in call completion.
