CiscoWorks RME 4.1.1 - CRIN0014 Error

Hello,
Not sure when this started, but I noticed the following error when trying to go to the report generator in RME:
CRIN0014: Operation failed while connecting to JRM. Make sure jrm and/or CTMJrmWrapper services are running.
I went and made sure all that I downloaded and applied all patches available to Common Services and RME and this did not do anything. The server is connected to ACS and I re-joined them and re-registered all my applications. The other thing I am noticing is when I go to do practically anything in RME that involved the device selector RME shows 0 devices, but in the RME home page I see all 900+ of my devices listed as "normal".
This is a weird issue that just came out of nowhere. Has anyone seen behavior like this in the past? Not sure what I would need to post as far as log files, etc. but I can provide them as needed.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks,
AJ Schroeder

AJ,
With this version of RME you MAY be hitting bug CSCte49301.  Based on the release note there is a workaround you can try (see below):
--Workaround
Shutdown CiscoWorks Daemon Manager with the following command from the server's command prompt:
net stop crmdmgtd
Delete the following two files:
NMSROOT\MDC\tomcat\webapps\rme\WEB-INF\lib\ctmregistry
NMSROOT\MDC\tomcat\webapps\rme\WEB-INF\lib\ctmregistry.backup
Restart CiscoWorks Daemon Manager with the following command:
net start crmdmgtd
If that does not work, then the Windows Remote Management service must be stopped, and disabled.  Then, CiscoWorks Daemon Manager must be restarted.
It also could be a permission issue with teh system identity user and its permission on ACS.  Ensure the system identity username is configured in ACS with full access privileges in the Ciscoworks "Shared Profile" components.

  • Ciscoworks - RME 4.3.1 Sotfware distribution needs 32MB minimum in Flash

    Hello,
I’m having the need to upgrade over one hundred Cat2900 to a newer image. When I run the software distribution application on Ciscoworks (RME 4.3.1) I get the “catastrophic” warning described below. The new image is only 7MB and there are 22MB free in flash. Is there any way to by-pass this requirement checking???

    Hi,
Try the below steps and I hope this should work:
1- Go to RME > Software Management > Software Repository
2 - Select the image you are trying to push (Click on the file name)
3- Change the Minimum RAM to a lower value than the RAM you have on the
    device
    4 - Click on Update
5 - Try the SWIM job again

  • CiscoWorks RME 4.3 syslog forwarding

    Hello,
We are running CiscoWorks RME 4.3 and forwarding syslog messages to another syslog server. To forward messages we use script from https://supportforums.cisco.com/docs/DOC-11592
All is working great at the begining of month. With growing of syslog.log file, forwarded messages are delayed more and more. Because of Syslog Analyzer monthly reports we have log rotate at every 1st day of month.
    So question:
Is it possible to write syslogs to two different files? One which will rotate as described above, and other which will be used by syslog_forward.pl and rotated every day?
    Thanks in advance!
    Regards!
    Marko

You cannot do this on Windows with the LMS syslog server.  All messages will be written to one file.  Logrot in LMS can archive the log files instead of just rotating them.  This way, you can keep messages as long as you want.  Just specify a non-zero number of backups when configuring Log Rotation.  The archived files will be created with a numeric extension (e.g. syslog.log.1, syslog.log.2, etc.).  Those files can be further archived manually to long-term storage.

  • Ciscoworks RME 4.0 SNMP Config Change

    Hi,
I was locked out one of my routers.  I cannot access it via Telnet, SSH, TFTP, SCP, etc.  However, I remembered once I reconfigured the router via SNMP community string.  Does anyone know how I can change router config via SNMP community string using CiscoWorks RME 4.0?
    Thanks!

You can use RME ---> Config Mgmt --> NetConfig --> NetConfig Jobs . For specific steps, read the users guide below for information about different user defined task you can use.

  • CiscoWorks RME - Telnet Failed

We are trying to create an archive of our device configs.  When we try this we get the following error:
TELNET: Failed to establish TELNET connection to 10.0.8.2 - Cause: Authentication failed on device 3 times. PRIMARY-RUNNING config Fetch Operation failed for TFTP. SSH: Failed to establish SSH connection to 10.0.8.2 - Cause: Authentication failed on device 3 times. Failed to fetch config using RCP.Verify RCP is enabled or not.
    CiscoWorks LMS 3.2, RME 4.3
The following config is on the router:
    line con 0
      login local
    line aux 0
    line vty 0 4
      privilege level 15
      login local
      transport input telnet ssh
    line vty 5 15
Not sure what to do to fix this.

Remote into the LMS server, and from there make sure you can telnet into this device.  If so, you need to enter the same credentials you just used to telnet to this device under CS > Device and Credentials > Device Managment > Edit Credentials.  Enter the proper username and password under "Primary Credential".  Then try to backup the configuration once again.

  • Using CiscoSecureACS with CiscoWorks-RME

I need help in configuring CiscoWorks to use CiscoSecureACS for login authentication. I have specified TACACS+ as the login module. I am able to login with a account from the ACS server. However, the permissions aren't configured correctly. When I login with the ACS server account, options aren't displayed (e.g., under RME, Administration, Inventory, Add Devices...the Add Device option isn't present). Please advise.

To be succinct, ACS doesn't have all the fields that are required by Ciscoworks. That is why you still need to define the user profiles in ACS.
ACS is simply an authenticator. Ciscoworks still handles authorization. Look at the fields available in Ciscoworks and you'll see there are a number of roles that each user can take. I suppose Cisco may someday include extensions in ACS to handle the specific CiscoWorks profile fields but that isn't the case today.
I think the advantage to using ACS is the centralized authentication. Users don't have to change their passwords in multiple places. Logon violations are recorded in one place.
You'll find that once you define the profiles in CiscoWorks they will remain quite static.

  • Old devices in Ciscoworks RME

I'm using LMS2.6. RME is version 4.06. I have a number of devices show up in my reports that no longer exist. I can't delete them as they don't appear in the DCR. When I try to add them back in, I get an error saying they already exist.
Can someone please tell me where I can delete these old devices?
    Thanks!

I have finally found the answer after hunting high and low.
    https://supportforums.cisco.com/thread/174743.pdf
Once I added the devices into ACS, they appeared in my DCR so now they can be deleted

  • Ciscoworks RME Syslog Automation Actions

I set up RME several years ago on our Ciscoworks several running LMS 3.2 to notify us on any BGP flaps via email notification.
I noticed the last couple maintenance period where we had perform Circuit work with our ISP's. We haven't received any emails....I verified those
routers are configured to send notifications in the Device Selector and even checked the router logs.
    004161: Nov 20 05:04:52 EST: %BGP-5-ADJCHANGE: neighbor X.X.X.X Down BGP Notification sent
    004162: Nov 20 05:04:52 EST: %BGP-3-NOTIFICATION: sent to neighbor X.X.X.X 4/0 (hold time expired) 0 bytes
The syslog collector status appears to be normal.....is there anything I need to do the fix this?

    Hi,
Are you receiving any emails from your LMS server?  If not, navigate to  Common Services > Server > Admin > System Preferences to enter your SMTP settings.
Identifying the syslog message is one step but there are more.
    AUTOMATED ACTIONS
    Set Up
By default, Automated Actions are used to notify via email, using the `sampleEmailScript.pl`  as the script to run. If you do not want to use this, you could write  or use your own scripts to perform the action that you really want. In  this case please note that we do not provide support for any custom  scripts if the problem seems to be related to the script that you are  using.
You still need the following settings:
    1.   Select Devices
In *RME > Tools > Syslog > Automated Actions* and click on create and select the devices that you wish to use.
    2.   Define Message Type
Please  give a name to the Automated Action and then click on add to define a  message type. In here, please specify the following values:
        Facility: BGP
        Sub-facility: *
        Severity: 5
        Mnemonic: ADJCHANGE
        Description: *
    3.  Select Automated Action
Select the default script or the script that you wish to use.  Please note that this script must be located in the *CSCOpx/files/scripts/syslog* file and needs to have only write/execute permissions for casuser/Administrator in Windows.
This way when a message matching the above is generated, the Automated Action is triggered and this will run the script that you choose and do the commands that it has specified.
    Here is an example:
If you verify that your setup is correctly configured then take a look at the smtp.log found under ../CSCOpx/log.
    Thanks.

  • Ciscoworks RME 4.2 rmeng databases

Wondering how I can truncate, purge, rotate etc the SyslogFirst, SyslogSecond, SyslogThird database files.
They are currently huge (14 GB, 12 GB, and 28GB) and I could use the space.

    Hi Kristen,
Procedure for cleaning up the db space:
Prerequisite, execute the following commands in the server, under
    NMSROOT\CSCOpx\bin:
    STEP 1) pdterm RMEDbEngine
    STEP 2) pdexec RMEDbEngine
This is to ensure that there are no active connections to the database which is a must for dropping/recreating db space.
STEP 3) I'm attaching a DBSpaceReclaimer.class file. Please copy it to a temporary directory, example: e:\Temp and issue the
    Following command:
    STEP 4) E:\Program Files\cwlms3\lib\jre\bin\java -cp ;E:\Program Files\cwlms3\lib\classpath;E:\Program
    Files\cwlms3\www\classpath;E:\Program Files\cwlms3\MDC\Tomcat\webapps\rme\WEB-INF\classes\;E:\ProgramFiles\cwlms3\MDC\tomcat\webapps\rme\WEB-INF\lib\log4j.jar DBSpaceReclaimer
STEP 5) Restart daemon manger after completion of above task.
    For example:
    E:\Program Files\cwlms3\lib\jre\bin>java -cp e:\Temp;E:\Program
    Files\cwlms3\classpath;E:\Program Files\cwlms3\www\classpath;E:\Program
    Files\cwlms3\MDC\Tomcat\webapps\rme\WEB-INF\classes;E:\Program
    Files\cwlms3\MDC\Tomcat\webapps\rme\WEB-INF\lib\log4j.jar DBSpaceReclaimer
    NOTE: this is one command.

    The next step for you:
Check the running processes via cmd line (pdshow -brief).
Check that all processes are running as expected.  If they are then take a look at what is keeping ports open on your box (netstat -anob).  From above, the reason may be an application occupying a port LMS needs.  Also check the Windows error logs.
Check the following services, they should look like:

  • CiscoWorks and Parameterized templates ERROR - Help Joseph:-)

    Hi,
I am using CiscoWorks RME 4.3.1 I am trying to use Parameterized templates as explained in this document:
    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/net_mgmt/ciscoworks_resource_manager_essentials/4.3/user/guide/netcfg.html
Here is my XML file located in the right place: NMSROOT\files\rme\netconfig\cmdFileson the CiscoWorks server:
    <DEVICE NAME = 10.60.131.1>
    <CMDPARAM NAME = ConfigFile>
    <value>TST4CUPE10-Confg-PV.txt</value>
    </CMDPARAM>
    </DEVICE>
Then in RME I creat a user-defined task  as the one you can see there:
Then I create a new job on a device with the parameterized file:
Actually if I put a tick in the Check Syntax I got the following error message:
I don't understand as the value is configured in the xml file as you can see above!
When the job is done I get a status: successful:
But the problem is that nothing has changed on the device cause of the following error:
    configure replace bootflash:$ConfigFile force
Error: Could not open file bootflash:$ConfigFile for reading
Here is the result on the screen:
Does anyone knows what could cause this error?
    Best regards,
    Laurent

    Hi Joe,
I have a good news. It is working now after I changed the IP to the hostname as you suggested.
But it was not working even with the hostname because I had a “<” too much.
    bootflash:TST4CUPE10-Confg-PV.txt<
So now the file look like that:
    bootflash:TST4CUPE10-Confg-PV.txt
Thank you so much for your help! That is fantastic
    Best Regards,
