CJ20n - Project Finish Date - Purchase Requisitions

Hi all,
I have a question about the "Finish Date" field in CJ20n - Basic Data Tab.
What effects does the date in the field have? (Is it just for information?)
We would like to enter a date as a finish date and if someone tries to create a purchase requisition on the project dated after the finish date, there should be a message or warning that prevents the creation. Is this possible with that field or any other field?
Thanks
Anne

Hi Anne,
The Finish Date field in the Basic Data tab page doesnt have any adverse effects as such. The field implies the planned finish date of your project. In certain cases this date is specified and in certain the system determines it by way of scheduling. It is not a mandatory filed and you can still proceed with your project without specifying the Finish Date.
Coming to the 2nd query. I dont think system will prevent you from creating a PR when this particular Finish Date is reached. However you can control it by system/user status. Once this date is reached you can set a status which will prohibit the creation of PR.
Hope this helps.

  • Update SharePoint list with project finish date on Project.Updated event

    Hello,
    I want to update a column in a SharePoint list with the project finish date when a project is updated on Project Server. My OnUpdated event handler is being called ok, but if I change the project start date Project Server runs an asynchronous republishing
    on the project, and my event handler ends up being called before the finish date is update by the republishing job, so the code writes the "old" finish date on the SharePoint list. The solutions I could think of are:
    Identify the republishing job on Project Server queue, pool the queue waiting for it to finish, then read the finish date and update the list item in SharePoint.
    Include a custom job on Project Server queue after the republishing job, that reads the finish date and update the list item in SharePoint.
    I don't know if any of the solutions are feasible and how to implement them. Has anyone coded something like this and/or have a better solution?
    Thanks,
    GB

    I vote for the option 1.
    I did for one of my event handler..Did you try "on published" event?
                projectSvc.QueueUpdateProject(jobUid, SessionUID, projectDss, false);
                //WaitForQueue(q, jobUid);
                jobUid = Guid.NewGuid();
                projectSvc.QueuePublish(jobUid, e.ProjectGuid, false, string.Empty);
                jobUid = Guid.NewGuid()

  • Scheduling as per given project finish date

    I need to know if it is possible to arrange the project structure to do below described scheduling.
    Urgent reply will be highly appricated..
    thanks,
    he.
    I would like to give the "project finish date " ;
    I would like p6v7 would schedule such that ;
    - project finish date would be the date that I gave,
    - all activity dates would be defined accordingly even if they should have been start and/or finish before project start date.
    I should say that there is not any resource / cost assignment. Just activities/ original durations/ and relationships have been entered.

    user9166529,
    By you saying "project finish date" I have to assume that you have some sort of mandatory completion date such as a contract deadline.
    Or do you mean that you want to add a date constraint to the project finish date such as "must finish on or before" your date of completion?
    If needed, you could even apply a "mandatory finish" date constraint (not highly recommended).
    On the other hand, by building your initial schedule you will be able to determine your planned finish date by tracing your longest path. If this completion date does not meet your needs you then would need to adjust your scheduled activities (durations) to fit within your planned finish date.
    After settling on your initial schedule, save it as a baseline (copy) in order to perform periodic comparisons between your original (baseline) and the current (real time) schedules. The result of performing these comparisons will produce your schedule variance data.
    Hope this helps,

  • PR Delivery date as project finished date

    HI,
    When user is generating Service PR from project system, its delivery date is taken as a Finished date of the project. Further SAP is not allowing to edit this date.
    Can anyone let me know why it is happening. My user do not want delivery date as finished date of the project, he would like to put his own delivery date.
    Kindly  suggest
    regards
    Sanjay Karnekar

    Hi,
    I think that the date comes from the scheduling of the network activity. Go to the project builder and then display the material. On the Purchasing Data tab change the settings from 'Align the finish date' to the 'Manual requirements date'.
    If you'd like to change this setting globally, you need to maintain the customizing under
    Dates -> Scheduling of networks -> Specify scheduling parameters

  • Delivery Date - Purchase Requisition from PM Order

    Hi All,
    For "normal" material added to the PM Order (on an Operation of Control Key PM01), the system picks up the Early Start Date from the Operation as the Delivery date of Purchase Requisition for the material. However, if a "service" is added to the PM Order (on an Operation of Control Key PM03), the system picks up the Early End Date from the Operation as the Delivery date of Purchase Requisition for the service. I'm not sure if the problem is being caused by the Control Key PM03 configuration or if it is being caused by something related to the "services" setup.
    Any Clues?
    Regards
    Pankaj.

    Hi,
    I think that you will find that it is the "scheduling" indicator on the control key that is doing this.
    In PM03 it is normally left unflagged and this means that these operations use a duration of 0 and so it assumes a start and end date of the previous operation end date.
    Try it in your "play" client and see if setting this flag sorts it out for you.

  • Error for Project finish date earlier than forecast finish date

    Hi Experts
    I have the dates in Project definition as follows:
    Forecast start (PROJ-SPROG):  31.01.2011
    Forecast finish (PROJ-EPROG): 31.03.2011
    If i enter date 30.03.2011 as Finish date (PROJ-PLSEZ), below error message appears: "Finish date is earlier than start date. CJ563"
    The date i have entered is later than PROJ-SPROG, still not accepting.
    It accepts entry of date beyond the date in field PROJ-EPROG.
    Can anybody share thoughts on this?
    Warm regards
    ramSiva

    Can you kindly verify the other sets of dates being maintained in your activity (i.e. earliest & latest)? Are you using default configurations for PS i.e. confirmation dates are checked against basic dates and not forecast dates?

  • Approver & approval date from Requisition & PO Approval workflow tables

    Dear All,
    My req is to create a report that calculates the lead time taken by a Purchase Requisition to be converted into a PO and released. In the output they want the APPROVER NAME, DATE APPROVED against the REQUISITION NUMBER (EBAN-BANFN) and also they want APPROVER NAME, DATE APPROVED against the Purchase Order (so all in all 2 fields of approvers & 2 fields of approval dates). But the thing is they want these APPROVER NAME, DATE APPROVED from the Requisition Approval Workflow tables.
    Please update the table & fields that will have the Approver and date approved from workflow corresponding to the Purchase Requisition Number and Purchase Order. or What is the link between the "Approver, approval date & Purchase Requisition Number" and "Approver, approval date & Purchase Order".
    Thanks in advance. The solution will be rewarded the points.

  • Purchase Requisition release WF with multi-level release strategy

    Since it has been "a while" from my WF course and i lack experience with WF's (this is supposed to be the 1st one i implement, finally)...
    The problem I'm facing is really in planning phase of sketching up how my scenario should look like. I have to create couple of WFs for a project that involve purchase requisitions and purchase orders.
    The problem i'm trying to solve is logic concerning release strategy steps for this documents. They are set-up and well-deffined in customizing, but there are couple ofrelease steps for particular strategy.
    Scenario:
    1. someone creates a purchase requisition (event for BUS2009 is triggered, and workitem appears for release of Purch. Req. in their workplace)
    2. initiator of workflow executes his workitem and selects one of the release codes (this workitem is now complete) - i'd like for new workitem to appear in supervisors inbox automatically...
    3. now i need supervisor of initiator to release same purch. requisition with another release code (how to do it?)
    4. supervisor of supervisor (mentioned in step 3.) needs has the authorisation for final release with final release code.
    5. now the initiator from step 1. has to be notified that requisition has been released by overall head of department.
    Org structure i created looks like this:
    ORG. UNIT. Level 0 for Purch. Req. (with Head CEO of Plant as final approver)
    ORG.Unit.  Level 1 for Purch. Req. (with Head of level 1)
    ORG.Unit.  Level 2 for Purch. Req. (with Head of level 2 and Clerks 2a,b,c)
    So these guys (Clerk) 2a,b,c create Purch.Req. They or their Head of level 2 releases their requisitions with his release code Z1,
    Head of level 1 should recieve workitem in his inbox to be able to release it with his release code Z2.
    Director of the plant should recieve workitem for final release Z3, after Head 2 did his release with Z2, and then guys 2a,b,c should get notifications that their PR's are released.
    I managed to get the SAP's standard for Purch. Req. Release working but it's just not enough...
    Please advise me, guide me, if u have any idea, how could this be done, because i'm loosing a lot of time here, just searching and not seeing it. The problem is that we don't have any WF experienced guys that could help, so i'm kinda' stuck.
    Could standard be used here at all?
    Is it possible that the same task (for example. TS00007986 - Release requisition) appears more than once in the sam WF with different agent asignments?
    I dont have an idea how this scenario should be built in WF builder.
    BTW, i'll have 12-15 plants, does that mean 15 different WFs and Org Units?
    Help WF gurus.
    Thank you in advance,
    BaX

    Its' a while since I last time worked with PRs, but I'll give a try...
    This part is a bit confusing:
    >1. someone creates a purchase requisition (event for BUS2009 is triggered, and >workitem appears for release of Purch. Req. in their workplace)
    >2. initiator of workflow executes his workitem and selects one of the release >codes (this workitem is now complete) - i'd like for new workitem to appear in >supervisors inbox automatically...
    >3. now i need supervisor of initiator to release same purch. requisition with >another release code (how to do it?)
    Why do you want that the initiator (the creator of the PR) needs to go the business workplace and release the PR (or select the release code). Isn't this an unncessary step? Shouldn't it worked like this:
    1. Someone creates a PR
    2. PR "gets" a release code automatically with some logic defined in customization
    3. PR release work item apears in the supervisor's  workplace
    4. Initiator gets the mail
    If I recall correctly, the standard solution works like this, or has quite similar approach.
    Whatever way you decide to build your workflow, you won't most probably need a workflow for each plant, but you'll need several org units. But this all really depens on how you decide to do it...

  • MRP split purchase requisition with same date

    Hi guru
    When I run MRP, if there are more requirements for the same material with same date, the system creates one purchase requisition grouping requirements.
    So, if I have two requirements of 3 and 2 pieces for material A, with date 18042015, the system creates one purchase requisition of 5 pieces
    I tried to use a BADI in order to split purchase requistion and have in this case a purchase requisition of 3 pieces and another one of 2 pieces but maybe I wrong something because MRP works wrong.
    Is there anyone that could give some tips about this request? Is there anyone that had same problem?
    Thanks
    Regards
    Raffaele

    Hi,
    Hope your BAdI is working now.
    MD51 is used for project. It creates replenishment orders against a WBS element. After this, you can run MD01 which will create replenishment order by material/plant level.
    If you have a question related to PS, maybe you can post your thread in this space:

  • Material Purchase Requisition with WBS from Projects

    Hi ;
    As per our client requirement we need to create Material Purchase Requisition  with WBS Element  Material .Can Some one send me the procedure .
    Thanks in Advance ;
    Joydeep Mukherjee

    HI Joydeep,
    This is not possible in PS via CJ20N transaction to create material PR without activities. This is standard SAP restriction, i guess this cannot be changed.
    You can use ME51N by account assigning to Project / WBS element, then system will allow you to create.
    This is kind of two different functionalities we have to create PR for WBS element / Project / Network.

  • How to default distribution account through purchase requisition, selecting the project expenditure type

    Dear All,
    How to default distribution account through purchase requisition, selecting the project expenditure type
    Thanks
    Abdul.

    Hi Abdul,
    If you meant defaulting Purchase Order distribution accounts from the (backing) requisition, then the accounts from requisitions will default into the autocreated PO.
    If you seek to default distribution accounts for Purchase Requisition using Projects, then the account generator need to have customized rules defined to default account for project enabled distributions based on the Project/Task/Organization/Expenditure Type/Date combination entered.
    This note is an extract from the user's guide, and has good detail on defaulting rules of accounts for Purchase Documents:
    How Does The Account Generator Default The Accounts In Oracle Purchasing? (Doc ID 1067139.1)

  • Finish Date in the Project Definition / Network Header

    Dear Experts
    When I am creating project through CJ20N, system by default putting current date as finish date. for both project definition and network header.
    How can I make it start date.
    Thanking you.
    Best Regards,
    Abdul.

    Check out your project, is it created before you change these configuration parameters. In normal circumstances, it should work.
    Sorry I misunderstood, if you want system to ask you to put the start date enter scheduling type in both transactions as 'forward scheduling'.

  • Purchase Requisitions opening date in past

    Hi Experts,
    We are using SNP Optimizer (SCM 7.0).
    We are facing issue with Purchase Requisition Opening Date is showing in past.
    Lets say Planned Delivery time for externally procured material (Componenent) is 30 days and there is NO stock of this component.
    This componenent is input to Finished goods which has forecast on 15th March and there is NO stock.
    As planned delivery time is 30 days, earliest componenet can be procured will be 8th April (today is 9th march).
    Opening period should be shown as 8th April but I am seeing opening date of this compoenent in February which is past.
    Why it is creating Pur Req in past openign date with receive date as today's date?

    Hi Santosh,
    No, we are not using opening period or stock transfer horizon.

  • CJ20N Project Activity Level Actual Dates Auto-Populating

    Greetings All,
    I have a question with regards to t-code CJ20N.  Looking at the Activity level of a project, under the dates tab is a field for actual start (AFVGD-ISDD) and actual finish dates (AFVGD-IEDD).  They are auto populating and we are not sure why.  We do not want these fields to be auto populated.  They are messing up resource allocation via CMP3 for us.
    I have been looking around and have not been able to find any information on this.  Any help is appreitated.
