Scheduling as per given project finish date

I need to know if it is possible to arrange the project structure to do below described scheduling.
Urgent reply will be highly appricated..
thanks,
he.
I would like to give the "project finish date " ;
I would like p6v7 would schedule such that ;
- project finish date would be the date that I gave,
- all activity dates would be defined accordingly even if they should have been start and/or finish before project start date.
I should say that there is not any resource / cost assignment. Just activities/ original durations/ and relationships have been entered.

user9166529,
By you saying "project finish date" I have to assume that you have some sort of mandatory completion date such as a contract deadline.
Or do you mean that you want to add a date constraint to the project finish date such as "must finish on or before" your date of completion?
If needed, you could even apply a "mandatory finish" date constraint (not highly recommended).
On the other hand, by building your initial schedule you will be able to determine your planned finish date by tracing your longest path. If this completion date does not meet your needs you then would need to adjust your scheduled activities (durations) to fit within your planned finish date.
After settling on your initial schedule, save it as a baseline (copy) in order to perform periodic comparisons between your original (baseline) and the current (real time) schedules. The result of performing these comparisons will produce your schedule variance data.
Hope this helps,

  • Update SharePoint list with project finish date on Project.Updated event

    Hello,
    I want to update a column in a SharePoint list with the project finish date when a project is updated on Project Server. My OnUpdated event handler is being called ok, but if I change the project start date Project Server runs an asynchronous republishing
    on the project, and my event handler ends up being called before the finish date is update by the republishing job, so the code writes the "old" finish date on the SharePoint list. The solutions I could think of are:
    Identify the republishing job on Project Server queue, pool the queue waiting for it to finish, then read the finish date and update the list item in SharePoint.
    Include a custom job on Project Server queue after the republishing job, that reads the finish date and update the list item in SharePoint.
    I don't know if any of the solutions are feasible and how to implement them. Has anyone coded something like this and/or have a better solution?
    Thanks,
    GB

    I vote for the option 1.
    I did for one of my event handler..Did you try "on published" event?
                projectSvc.QueueUpdateProject(jobUid, SessionUID, projectDss, false);
                //WaitForQueue(q, jobUid);
                jobUid = Guid.NewGuid();
                projectSvc.QueuePublish(jobUid, e.ProjectGuid, false, string.Empty);
                jobUid = Guid.NewGuid()

  • Scheduled Maintenance basic start and finish date

    Hi Expert,
    I'm using WO type say PM04 for schedule maintenance. In its maintenance plan i'm using prioity "medium" that starts form 7 - 14 days.I also have already set the scheduling type in OPU7 - adjust scheduling into "Do not adjust basic dates, dep. reqmts to order start"
    after run deadline monitoring WO PM04 that generated is resulted as per below:
    basic start date: 13.08.2010
    basic finish date: 13.08.2010
    the basic dates does not reflect the priority "medium"
    pls help how can i configure the basic dates setting that align to its priority.
    Thanks

    Hi ,
    plz check if the below user exit is helpful or no

  • CJ20n - Project Finish Date - Purchase Requisitions

    Hi all,
    I have a question about the "Finish Date" field in CJ20n - Basic Data Tab.
    What effects does the date in the field have? (Is it just for information?)
    We would like to enter a date as a finish date and if someone tries to create a purchase requisition on the project dated after the finish date, there should be a message or warning that prevents the creation. Is this possible with that field or any other field?
    Thanks
    Anne

    Hi Anne,
    The Finish Date field in the Basic Data tab page doesnt have any adverse effects as such. The field implies the planned finish date of your project. In certain cases this date is specified and in certain the system determines it by way of scheduling. It is not a mandatory filed and you can still proceed with your project without specifying the Finish Date.
    Coming to the 2nd query. I dont think system will prevent you from creating a PR when this particular Finish Date is reached. However you can control it by system/user status. Once this date is reached you can set a status which will prohibit the creation of PR.
    Hope this helps.

  • PR Delivery date as project finished date

    HI,
    When user is generating Service PR from project system, its delivery date is taken as a Finished date of the project. Further SAP is not allowing to edit this date.
    Can anyone let me know why it is happening. My user do not want delivery date as finished date of the project, he would like to put his own delivery date.
    Kindly  suggest
    regards
    Sanjay Karnekar

    Hi,
    I think that the date comes from the scheduling of the network activity. Go to the project builder and then display the material. On the Purchasing Data tab change the settings from 'Align the finish date' to the 'Manual requirements date'.
    If you'd like to change this setting globally, you need to maintain the customizing under
    Dates -> Scheduling of networks -> Specify scheduling parameters

  • Error for Project finish date earlier than forecast finish date

    Hi Experts
    I have the dates in Project definition as follows:
    Forecast start (PROJ-SPROG):  31.01.2011
    Forecast finish (PROJ-EPROG): 31.03.2011
    If i enter date 30.03.2011 as Finish date (PROJ-PLSEZ), below error message appears: "Finish date is earlier than start date. CJ563"
    The date i have entered is later than PROJ-SPROG, still not accepting.
    It accepts entry of date beyond the date in field PROJ-EPROG.
    Can anybody share thoughts on this?
    Warm regards
    ramSiva

    Can you kindly verify the other sets of dates being maintained in your activity (i.e. earliest & latest)? Are you using default configurations for PS i.e. confirmation dates are checked against basic dates and not forecast dates?

  • Help scheduling tasks from both project start date and from later deliverable dates

    I am trying to set up a project scheduling template for a number of similar projects.
    These projects will require initial work to be completed at the project start date, working through the critical path to an end date.
    However.  Certain milestones/deliverables are required on specific dates in teh project (they are recievable by internal customers on firm dates).  I am having trouble scheduling my predecessors for these deliverables to occur as late as possible.
    I.e.  I want my procurement to start x-weeks (depending on the task) before the deliverable is due.
    Trying to manually set the deliverable date and hoping project will work back and adjust the predecessors to fit isnt quite working... is this possible?
    Im using MSP2010 standard

    nategalambos,
    Actually this is probably a very common scheduling scenario. Schedules often have interim milestones, sometimes with fixed dates.
    Just-in-time scheduling has received a fair amount of press in the past but in my view it has some very real negative downsides. I believe the best plans have contingency built in to allow for unknown problems. For example, let's say you have a task that
    must deliver an item on a particular date and in order to build that item you need to order material. You know the built and test time, it's all done by machine, takes 10 days, and doesn't vary from item to item. The lead time for the material is 6 weeks,
    so you set up the schedule to place the material order 8 weeks before the delivery date. However, there is a problem, the vendor who supplies the material has a problem at his factory and the material is delayed such that it won't be delivered in 6 weeks but
    instead it will take 8 weeks. Because you have not allowed for contingency in your plan, your delivery date is now in jeopardy.
    But to answer your question, one way to set up the predecessor you want is as follows. Using my example above, the Place Order task, let's say the delivery date task is task ID 5 and is a milestone. The place order task could have a predecessor of 5SF-40d,
    or 5FS-40d will also work if the place order task and the delivery date are both milestones.
    Hope this helps.

  • Production finish date differs from basic finish date in backward schedulin

    Hi, experts.
    When i do scheduling the planned order,
    production finish date differs from basic finish date in backward scheduling as below.
    Scheduling: Backward
    Basic finish date : 2010.01.22
    Basic start date : 2010.01.21
    Production finish date : 2010.01.23  09:00:00
    Production start date ; 2010.01.22 03:57:09
    *GR time : 0.
    *Scheduling Margin key : 0.
    I don't know why production finish date set in 2010.01.23 09:00. ( Basic finish date +1 day)
    Please reply me.
    Thanks.

    Dear Jong,
    1) what is the parameter used in MRP run, Basic scheduling or lead time scheduling
    2) you must find a exception Mssg for that plan order in MD04
    3) basic scheduling take the time from material master & lead time scheduling will take time
    from Routing

  • The Basic Finish date is a Day earlier than Planned date

    Dear Experts,
    I am getting a strange behaviour about Maintenance order Basic Finish Date when generated from Maintenance Plan. I have Customizing settings (TCode : OPU7) Adjust: "Adjust Basic dates, adjust dep reqmts to order start date" and scheduling type : Backwards in Time. For this setting Order Basic Finish Date is a day earlier than Planned date , but when Schduling type is Backwards instead of Backwards in Time, Basic Finish date is same as Planned date.
    Example: The start of cycle of a monthly plan is 14-Nov-2010, 1st Planned date is 14-Dec-2010. When Scheduling type is " Backwards in time" , the order generated is having Basic Finish Date as 13-Dec-2010 .And when Scheduling type is "Backwards" , Basic finish date is 14-Dec-2010.
    Thank you.

    Hi there,
    Please check the primilinairy buffer in your strategy package. This field have an effect on your order start date.
    But I agree on Pete, you should use a forward planning.

  • Trying to update Project scheduled finish date - newbie help needed!

    Guys, I am super new to Oracle Projects, I have never used it before.  I've just learned a few things in the UI and read through the docs documenting the stored procs.  My question is simple (hopefully)   In the UI I choose a responsibility, then under "Projects : Delivery" I choose "Search Projects", I enter the Project ID in the field and click Go, I am able to see all the project details and the Tasks.  No problem there!  What I would like to do through the Update_Project API is to change the "Scheduled Finish Date" of the Project.
    I have the following information that I have managed to scrape up:
    Project_id, Responsibility_id, User_id, Resp_Appl_Id
    I retrieved the project id using:
             Select project_id,name from pa_projects_all
              where name = 'My Project';
    So first I call set_global_info with the appropriate parameters, then this:
        -- SET GLOBAL VALUES
         pa_interface_utils_pub.set_global_info(
         p_api_version_number => 1.0,
         p_responsibility_id => fnd_profile.value('57203'),
         p_user_id => fnd_profile.value('1013415'),
         p_msg_count => l_msg_count,
         p_msg_data => l_msg_data,
         p_return_status => l_return_status);
         l_project_in.pa_project_id := 4608;
         l_project_in.scheduled_finish_date := to_date('2008-02-27', 'YYYY-MM-DD');
      --UPDATE_PROJECT
              pa_project_pub.UPDATE_project(
                        l_api_version_number,
                        p_commit => l_commit,
                        p_init_msg_list => l_init_msg_list,
                        p_msg_count => l_msg_count,
                        p_msg_data => l_msg_data,
                        p_return_status => l_return_status,
                        p_workflow_started => l_workflow_started,
                        p_pm_product_code => null,
                        p_project_in => l_project_in,
                        p_project_out => l_project_out,
                        p_key_members => l_key_members,
                        p_class_categories => l_class_categories,
                        p_tasks_in => l_tasks_in,
                        p_tasks_out => l_tasks_out);
    What I am getting is the message "error :Project ID is invalid" and the status is "E"
    I'm not sure why it is invalid as it is the exact Project ID from the projects table.  The only thing I can think of is that the p_pm_product_code is set to null but I am not sure where this value comes from and why it even matters.  I checked the documents and it says it refers to some external system.  Why does the external system code matter if I am changing data within Oracle Projects?

    Hello,
    Looks like you are not setting the Initialization values correctly. Oracle Project APIs are Org specific and require proper initialization before being called for them to work.
    Few things i noticed from the code is :
    1.  The following is being used to set the User ID and Responsibility ID  :
         p_responsibility_id => fnd_profile.value('57203'),
         p_user_id => fnd_profile.value('1013415'),
    I think the call should be like this. This should be used only if you are going to call the API through a concurrent program from the submit request window (Oracle Apps environment). fnd_profile.value will get the responsibility id and the used id of the user running the program and assign it to the variables.
         p_responsibility_id => fnd_profile.value('RESP_ID'),
         p_user_id => fnd_profile.value('USER_ID'),
    Or If you are directly passing the IDs hardcoded then, This can be used if you are running the script from a Non-Oracle Applications environment, for example from SQL*Plus.
         p_responsibility_id => 57203
         p_user_id => 1013415
    2. I notice that you are not passing P_OPERATING_UNIT_ID parameter in the call to pa_interface_utils_pub.set_global_info. This is fine if you are not using MOAC  and you have set MO: Operating Unit profile for the responsibility being passed.  If you are using MOAC or are not sure, then it is always a good practice to explicitly  pass the P_OPERATING_UNIT_ID parameter in the call to pa_interface_utils_pub.set_global_info.
    Note :  DO NOT use fnd_profile.value('ORG_ID') to set the P_OPERATING_UNIT_ID parameter. In a MOAC environment this may not work.
    3. Always ensure you check the return status of the pa_interface_utils_pub.set_global_info for success before calling the Project APIs. This will save you a lot of frustration when testing.
    4. You might find the following note useful
    Project API Overview and Reference (Doc ID 1424156.1)

  • Schedule start & finish dates - Project Management

    All
    Will there be any implications on performance /status reporting etc if we personolise Schedule start & finish dates.
    The reason to personlise is to have Transaction Start & Finish date instead of Schedulate start & finish dates.
    Needs your inputs....
    Thanks in advance.
    Regards
    Ajith

    Marc,
    When Project was first released there were only two basic start field, Start and Actual Start (in addition of course to the Baseline Start field and a few others). With the release of Project 2010, a manual scheduling mode was introduced. That's when things
    got a little more confusing. Instead of leaving the Start date as is, the Start field was converted to a text field and the old Start field was renamed as Scheduled Start. When in auto-schedule mode, both Start and Scheduled Start are exactly the same.
    Now to answer your questions. To keep it simple, let's assume you are using auto-scheduling.
    1. In order to keep the schedule dynamics intact, it is necessary to update the Start field to agree with what really happened, namely with the Actual Start date. If you do not enter anything into the Actual Start field, Project automatically assumes the
    task started as scheduled, on the Start date.
    2, Yes, Project does its scheduling based on the current plan which is represented by start, finish and other data. Once the project starts, that current plan must be updated so the actual date values come into play. As noted in the lead in paragraph, Scheduled
    Start and Start are the same for auto-scheduled tasks.
    3. Earned value is based on the actual values and the saved baseline data. The "point in time" you refer to is the timescaled data as of the status date.
    Hopefully, this clear up at least some of your confusion.

  • Scheduled start and Finish date .

    Hi Everyone,
    I am facing a problem in dates in creating a process order in Production .
    In the tcode COR1, when input the BASIC START DATE manually, the BASIC FINISH DATE ,scheduled start date and finished dates should get calculated automatically  as per standard SAP.
    The problem that I am facing is that , if I input the BASIC START DATE in future , the scheduled start date and finished dates are always coming as  the system date.
    whatever date I input in the BASIC START DATE  the scheduled start date and finished dates are always coming as  the system date.
    But this is not happening in quality and development server .
    Please help me if you have any solution
    Thanks
    Bijay

    Dear ,
    1.Scheduling parameter for new process order type and plant combination, to be defined at OPUZ . U can copy the settings at standard order type PI01.Here you should keep Backward Scheduling as Scheduling Type  and Keep the adjustment  Scheduling as Adjust to Basic Date , depenent requirement Date .
    Now  Order Basic finish date = Order Basic start date + float before prod + Lead Time of Operations (operation time from routing )+ float after prod.
    These floats are predefined in SMK  and assinged to material master .It comes through Planned Order after MRP run andcoped to Production Order .
    .2.Check and Define Scheduling Margine key in MRP -Carry All over all palnt paremtres (OPPQ)
    If you are MTS process , then Keep the Scheudling Type as Forward .Enter the Basic Start date and Scheduling Margine Days ( Opening periods , FBP, FAP) and then hit the Scheduling Indicator .It will calcuate all the dates based on the SMK and operation setup and propose you Basic Finish Date .
    So adjust the Flaots in SMK tab in process order , enter Basic Finish Date , Choose Bacward Scheduling to arraive Basic Start  or Go in reverse direction by choosing Forward scheduling .
    Hope its clear
    Regards

  • Basic start date and scheduled finished date...can we have Planned date?

    Is there any "Plan Start Date" in SAP, the date where scheduler must put manually in the system to determine the "committed" date for the work to be executed - based on earliest and latest start date which automatically calculated by SAP?
    Our plant must keep the Basic Finish Date unchanged since it is the Required Date of the Work to finish.  We found that the Plan Date does not change and I was wondering if there is any way we can have the Planned date on the order header or have the basic finish date unchanged?
    Appreciate your advices

    Hi
       As per your query screen variant is the better option to be choose so that here you can go with user id based restriction

  • Early schedule start date, early schedule finish date

    I want early schedule start date, early schedule finish date and project cost plan in my report. This is a PS requirement. In the standard cube (0PS_C02) I can find actual start date and actual finish date. Has anybody used early schedule start date and early schedule finish date in the reports? If yes then did you get it using standard cube/ODS or you went for enhancement?

    HI,
    He have to go for few tables in which u can find all the data.
    Firstly u have to enhance the datasource .
    First go to table AFKO here you insert  AFUNR (Order Number) this table you will get AUFPL .
    Then take AUFLP and go to AFVV table and insert AFUPL . you will get all the activites and all dates of each activity  for example early start date ,early finish date, foirecost date etc.
    Thanks and Regards

  • Schedule finish date

    Dear Gurus,
    In my current system, I am using activity elements with in the activity to plan my resources.
    The activity elements take the start and finsih date (earliest) from the parent activity.
    Now, during partial confirmation of the activity, I enter the forecast duration to get the next realistic finish date of the actvity. Now when i reschedule my project, the activity element's finish dates are exceeding the parent activity's finish date by one day. The noteable difference i can see before and after the confirmation and schedule update is that, the execution finish time before confirmation was 24:00:00 and after confirmation, its 00:00:00 of the next day of the activity finish date.
    For example
    Activity finish date is 03.08.2009 with execution time 24:00:00
    Activity element finish date is 04.08.2009 with execution time 00:00:00.
    Regards,
    VDS

    Hi Rupesh,
    I don't think there is any difference...  03.08.2009 - 24:00:00 is Midnight of 03 and 04 whereas 04.08.2009, 00:00:00 is same as that of the earlier one (i.e... midnight of 03 & 04) ... Where is the difference of one day ... if it is 04.08.2009 - 24:00 then what you have said is correct..
