Clear printer queue

I can not delete the print jobs in the printer queue by highlighting the job and delete.  What is the next thing I can try?

Hi,
It always helps to mention which OS you are using.
here is the general Windows force print queue stop method.
1. Go to Start, Control Panel and Administrative Tools. Double click on Services icon.
2. Scroll down to the Print Spooler service and right click on it and select Stop. In order to do this, you need to be logged in as Administrator.
3. Next you need to go to the following directory: C:\WINDOWS\System32\spool\PRINTERS. Delete all the files in this folder. This will clear all print queues.
4. Now you can go back to the Services console and right-click and select Start for the Print Spooler service.
You can also go to a command prompt and type net stop spooler or net start spooler to start and stop the service.
regards,
erico

hp 3915.  vista 32 "print queue issue" and i have to clear print queue and redo print.  I think it may be a driver issue. Is there a driver for 3915 using Vista. Mine says only 2000 and XP. Thanks.

    Hi there ken4863,
Try downloading and running the print and scan doctor located here:
    http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c03275041&cc=us&dlc=en&lc=en
It can fix a lot on its own and if not give a better idea of what is going on.
    Best of Luck!

  • Clear Print Queue HP P1102w LaserJet

After printing to my wireless HP P1102w LaserJet, the print queue does not clear/empty.  So, when I print, again, the printer does not respond because there are queued docs to print, yet.  I can physically delete the queue, but this is cumbersome.  And, I am not the only user of the printer. It took forever to get the proper drivers loaded by using Apple Update.  Finally, the printer prints, whether using wireless or Wi-Fi. But, the document remains in the queue. Any ideas?  Or, is this an HP problem?

I just went through this myself. It is basically as fede says. You need cups installed and running, and hplip installed. Some of the printers require a plugin (like my LaserJet 1018), and that may be why you get the message 'filter failed'. I got it too.
You have to run hp-setup to get the plugin BUT hp-setup won't run properly without a /usr/bin/python symlinked to python2.7 . Either create that symlink or as fede says, if you already have one that points to python3, delete that symlink and create a new one pointing to python2.7, and then run hp-setup. It will run fine and your printer should work.
On my other computer I have Ubuntu 12.10 and I noticed they have /usr/bin/python symlinked to python2.7 as a standard, that's why hp-setup ran correctly on it the first time. When I did a basic install of Arch recently it only installed python2, but there was no symlink of python -> python2.7 included in the package. If you install python3 (also known as python), you get the symlink of python -> python3. It's all a bit confusing, but I think if we only have python2 installed it might be a good idea to include the symlink python -> python2.7 in the package. Seems to me this confusion has been going on for a couple of years? I think I will leave my symlink python -> python2.7 in place.

  • Clear Print Queue failes in Guest and Standard user accounts

    Hello community
I've created a launchd configuration file to clear the entire print queue in Mac OS X at startup. This worked fine in Mac OS X Leopard but is broken in Mac OS X Snow Leopard when logging in to Guest or Standard accounts. It works fine for Admin user accounts.
The launchd configuration file is saved in /Library/LaunchAgents/ and loaded successfully. I've checked the content of the plist (created with Lingon), ownership (root:wheel) and permissions (-rw-r--r--). Everything seems fine to me.

  • Clearing print queue without app

I was able to print a document from my iPad to a wireless printer without having AirPrint installed on my iPad. The document continues to print over and over. How can I clear the queue without the app?

How can you print a document without some sort of app at all? You have to either use the computer as the print server or you need an app on the iPad that will print.
Worst case scenario, shut the printer off and unplug it to reset it.

  • Unable to clear printer queue

I am unable to cancel a print document?

    Hi,
So, your asking about the printer icon on the task bar down  by the clock and not being able to remove or cancel a document in queue?
If you double click on the printer icon, you should be able to see the document(s) pending.  If your right mouse click on the document you want to cancel and choose "delete"... will that work?
You don't mention your printer, but we have documents by printer on "Print Jobs stuck in print queue".

  • Clearing the print queue

While printing, the paper supply ran out but when I reloaded, it tells me the printer is out of paper. I've turned off the printer, tried to delete the current job but am still unable to print.
    Thank you.

Hi - Have you rebooted the computer yet?  I'd try that first.  That should clear the print queue in case the previous document is still stuck int he print queue.  If that doesn't take care of it, does the printer attempt to pickup paper or do you get any response from the printer when you send a file to print?
    Hope that helps.

  • Cannot remove clear a job from printer queue in Windows 7 Home Premium

printed a word document.  document prints, but does not clear out of the printer queue.  i have cancelled the print several times, but the document remains in the printer queue and reprints every time the computer is restarted.  how can i clear this job from the printer queue?

    Hi,
From the Control Panel, open Administrative Tools and select Sevices.  Browse down to the print spooler service, right click it and select Properties then click on the Stop button.  Now browse to C:\Windows\System32\Spool\PRINTERS and delete the job inside this folder - You may need to click a prompt to gain the appropriate authority to open the PRINTERS folder.
Restart the computer and you should find the document(s) have been removed.

  • Print Jobs not clearing "Deleting - Printed" message from Print Queue

The jobs print fine but the message Deleting - Printed doesn't clear from the print queue.
The two printers having the issue are HP Color LaserJet 3550s using the External HP JetDirect en3700 (J7942A-61033).
Our Print Server is an HP BL25P running MS Server 2003 Enterprise Edition / SP2.  This issue started about two weeks ago only on these printers.  I downloaded the newest drive (dated 2007 version 61.63.461.41).
I have deleted and recreated the printers on the Print server and installed the new driver.  Still having the same issue.  To clear the Print Queue we have to restart the Print Spooler Service on the Print Server.- this causes the "Deleting - Printed" jobs to print again which could be days / weeks after they were originally printed.
We don't want to keep having to restart the Print Spooler.
Any one having a similar issue and know off a fix.   I have tried everything I have so far found on the Web.
    Thank you.

  • Cannot clear a document from printer queue, and it is preventing printing, i have rebooted

    HP G72 notebook printer
Wifi networked to Lexmark Pro 205 printer
I have a document which is stuck in the print queue and will not cancel and remove. I have rebooted the computer three times, the printer three times and the network. It is blocking printing by the printer.
How do I remove and clear the queue?

Hi this might work as well
    1. Click start and go to the control panel and next go to printers.
    2. Doubleclick your printer icon.
    3. In the new screen click on the word printer in the top left corner en set a check mark with "use printer offline".
    4. Disconnect the unit from the computer.
    5. Click on the word printer again in the top left corner and choose "cancel all printjobs". Wait until this happens.
    6. If this not happens restart your computer and check if the printjob is gone now. If it does happen skip step 6.
    7. If the printjob is gone reconnect your printer and click printer in the top left corner again and remove the check mark with "use printer offline".
    8. Try printing.

  • Alien communique, print queue lagging, printer refuses to e-print, can't find with laptop

I purchased the HP Photosmart Plus e-All-in-One Printer - Black (CN216A#B1H) to replace my top-feed printer whose ink was disappearing from retail stores. It is connected to my Mac Mini (OS: leopard 10.5) via USB, and to my home wifi network. I have a pc (OS: XP) laptop that also connects to the internet via wifi network. Here are my problems:
    1. The printer refuses to e-print. I have it set up with hpeprint, and it'll connect to hpeprint occasionally, usually after rebooting. I can print using the apps on the printer, but I can't email ANYTHING to it. I've even spent an hour on the phone with HP's help center, and he's sent stuff to the printer that never printed. It doesn't matter how it's sent--attachment or in the email--or what it is, it just sits in the queue until it fails. I paid more for this feature----why won't it work??
    2. I can't find the printer with the laptop. Now this may be my ineptitude with windows, but even my husband (whose laptop it is) can't figure it out. I can access the printer's url in a browser (http://192.168....you know), but I can't get the Add A Printer wizard to recognize the printer. It wants to go in through shared computers, looking for a printer on my Mini--which, by the way, for some strange reason my router won't let computers on my network access my hard-wired mini. Anyways, that's a headache for another day.
    3. Last night I tried to print a copy of a legal form, and the job sat in the computer's print queue for about an hour before the printer finally started warming up to print. Then it only printed the first half of the first page, spat it out, and gave me (after about half an hour more) a half dozen pages that look like some kind of alien communique. I've actually had it do this to me a couple times in the last day, just randomly printing these pages until I cancel print. Whatthe?
Setup seemed to be remarkably easy. I just plugged the thing in and followed the prompts. But now I'm starting to have buyer's remorse. What in the world is wrong with this printer?? If you can help me clear up one or two of these things, I'd greatly appreciate it, since it means less time I'll be on the phone with Customer Service.

By the way, here's what it printed:

  • Jobs show twice in print queue - won't delete and won't print

I have an HP Laserjet P1006 running on a HP laptop running Windows 7 64 bit.  Printer has worked fine for 8 months but recently ran into problems.
When I send a print job to it, the printer doesn't print.  If I open up the print queue, the job shows up twice.  If I try to delete the jobs, they don't delete.  I can use the HP Print Diagnostic Utility to get the jobs cleared out of the queue, but the same thing happens the next time I try to print something.
A Few Other Items to Note:
    - I don't get any error lights on the printer.
    - I brought home a laptop from home running XP and installed the printer using the CD.  The printer worked fine with that computer, so I don't think it's a problem with the printer hardware.
    - I have tried uninstalling the printer, both using the CD that came with it and with the latest drivers/software from the website.  Didn't do anything (same problem occurs when printing a test page).
    - HP Print Diagnostic Utility doesn't find anything wrong.  Likewise, if I right click on the printer and click Troubleshoot, that doesn't help either.
    - I've tried restarting the print spooler, but that didn't do anything.

Hard Reset – While printer is powered ON, pull the power cord from the printer then from the wall. After 30 seconds reconnect power to wall and printer. This will trigger a ‘dirty power up’ and restore the printer to a known good condition (if it is possible). No user settings are lost with a ‘hard reset’.
This ‘Hard Reset’ is one of the most powerful tools to use when the printer hardware is not functioning properly!

  • Epson Stylus Photo 1290 - how do I remove items from the print queue?

Description of problem with "Epson Stylus Photo 1290" Application:
After selecting Show Completed Jobs from the main menu (Jobs > Hide/Show Completed Jobs) I am presented with a status list of print jobs (a.k.a. "print queue") that are either marked as "Completed", "Cancelled", "On Hold", "Printing" etc. Each and every time I print an item it is added to this list.
I simply want to clear this list.
However, the application's "Delete" button appears to only transform a "Printing" job to a "Cancelled" job, for example.
So how on earth do I clear the old (and, to me, useless) jobs listed in this print queue?
I know this isn't apple software but seeking help on the EPSON sites (and the rest of the net) has led me nowhere.
Many many thanks in advance if anyone can suggest anything!
    My set-up:
    Hardware:
    Model Identifier: MacBookPro5,1
    Boot ROM Version: MBP51.007E.B05
    SMC Version (system): 1.33f8
    Running: OS X 10.5.8
Problem App: EPSON Stylus Photo 1290.app, version 6.0.3
    Queue name: EPSONStylus_Photo1290
    Host name: localhost
Driver version: 3.09 (confirmed as latest)
    URL: usb://EPSON/Stylus%20Photo%201290?serial=WORLL0112061542320
Have print log files been cleared: Yes (using MacPilot)
Have print preferences been trashed/reset: Yes (all that I could find)
When did this problem start: not sure, I first noticed it several months after first using it on my MBP 10.5.x

Hmmmm. Doesn't look like I can edit my post. Okay.......
Contrary to what I've said above, this IS an Apple issue as the problem lies in the Print Queue, which is part of the OS.
The "fix" is to go System Preferences > Print & Fax and then delete the 1290 from the list of printers.
When the 1290 printer is re-added its print queue is now empty AND the Delete button does as it is supposed to do - it deletes items from the queue list.
    Hooray!
