Clearing the screen, and special characters

First off, I want to be able to clear the screen between menu selections. I've been told it's hard, but I don't mind, and I DON'T want to just print a whole heap of lines...
Second, How can I print special "High ASCII" characters, specifically the ones that are used in DOS borders around menus and windows. Unicode values from 2500 - 256C (Hex)

It sounds like you want a CURSES library for java. This seems to be a rare thing since once people are willing to go to the effort of using curses, they just use AWT or Swing instead. But I've seen CURSES libraries out there. Try Google.
If the DOS extended characters are really part of Unicode, then just print out the relevant characters. You can use Unicode escape sequences (\u0000) to do so. This assumes that the terminal can handle them, which it may not.
You could just print out the terminal escape sequences to clear screen and position the cursor yourself, I suppose, but a CURSES library would probably be more portable.

what font do you need, you may need to install Windows fresh and next time, do not mess with the fonts

Clearing the screen in a console program....?

why is it that you can type 'cls' in dos and instantly clear the screen and yet there is no (or at least none that I've come across) equivalent command in java?
anybody...?

Let's say I'm in my email, and I double click the button to the left of the screen and it then shows the multiple screens I've looked at already. How do I clear those already seen pages?

You mean the multi task bar at the bottom? In iOS7 there is a big preview box above each app in the bar. Just swipe it up and away.

Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button for a few seconds until the red "slide to power off" slider appears, and then slide the slider.
After the device has turned off, press and hold the Sleep/Wake button until the Apple logo appears.

How to compare two strings whether both are equal while ignoring the difference in special characters (example: & vs & and many others)?

I attempted to compare two strings whether they are equal or not. They should return true if both are equal.
One string is based on Taxonomy's Term (i.e. Term.Name) whereas other string is based on String object.
The problem is that both strings which seem equal return false instead of true. Both string values have different special characters though their special characters are ＆ and &

If you have a list of possible ambiguous characters the job is going to be easy and if (＆ vs &) are the only charracters in concern awesome.
You can use the below solution.
Before comparing pass the variables through a replace function to standarize the char set.
$Var = Replace($Var,"＆","&")
This is going to make sure you don't end up with ambiguous characters failing the comparison and all the char are "&" in this case.
Similar technique is used to ignore Character Cases 'a' vs. 'A'

Validating text field based on the combination of alphabets and special characters

I am Using Oracle Apex 4.2 Version . I want to do validation for a textbox where it should accept all alphabets,numbers and special characters (abc12#$ , zbc, 123, nd12, 23_6!, @%77).
But it should NOT accept all special characters only.(@#$#!)

I recently updated Firefox and when I did the screen displays the sites in the centre of the screen and in very small text. I have a newer monitor with a wide screen. How do I go about fixing this problem?

I have a new computer with a wide screen. Before I updated the web sites would fit the width of the screen, now that I've updated the web sites only display in the centre of the screen and they appear squished.

I'm using iOS 7.04 on my iPhone and basically can't use it. The screen is going crazy. I type and special characters show up. I have to hit send more than once (it grays out, then hit again) then it sends. I type words in text or email and it backspaces and deletes my entire message. I tap an application and it starts wiggling to delete. I've reboot several times. I'm looking at restoring, but that is a pain in the arse (it's my work phone). I'm nervous it will not restore properly.
I have iOS 7.03 on iPad and have no issues.

The Porblem here is the application is seen started in visual administrator.Only restart brings up the page back.

Reload web page(s) and bypass the cache to refresh possibly outdated or corrupted files.
*Press and hold Shift and left-click the Reload button.
*Press "Ctrl + F5" or press "Ctrl + Shift + R" (Windows,Linux)
*Press "Command + Shift + R" (MAC)
Clear the cache and the cookies from sites that cause problems.
"Clear the Cache":
*Firefox/Tools > Options > Advanced > Network > Cached Web Content: "Clear Now"
"Remove Cookies" from sites causing problems:

Have a problem in Numbers with entering data directly into a cell when a table reaches a certain size and special characters are used?

I am creating a list of words with special characters in some of them. I get to a point where I cannot enter data directly into the cell. I have to use the data entry bar at the top in the toolbar. Any solutions available?
This is the table I am creating...
From row 25 on, I am only able to enter data into the cell through the toolbar at the top and not directly into the cell itself. I believe that this problem originates from the special characters I have inserted in the previous records because if I do not use special characters, then the spreadsheet acts flawlessly. Have there been issues in Numbers with data entry, the size of a table, and using special characters?

I would try removing the rows with "special" characters one at a time to see which one is causing the problem

You could try using the '\b' backspace character, if that helps.

Of course you shouldn't do so anyway...
Terminal programs should coexist with all other terminal programs and not try to dominate the screen.
They should never clear the screen as this would remove output from other programs running in the same terminal.

Dynamic text, system fonts, and special characters...

This one is boggling my mind so if someone can help, please

I've got a dynamic text area pulling text from a MySQL
database via AMFPHP. The text includes special characters such as
accents, umlauts, etc (multi-language site platform). Most of them
work fine, and ALL of them work fine when I'm on a Mac client.
However, if I use a Windows client machine in either Firefox or
IE6, there are a couple characters that for whatever reason just
don't seem to show up -- instead I get the [] box character.
The only characters I've found that seem to be affected like
this are European quote characters like   and
 (hex characters 146, 147, 148). I'm using the familiar
ampersand-pound-number-semicolon escape sequence for them. And like
I said, they all display fine on Mac/Firefox and Mac/Safari. Why
are all my other special characters (umlauts, accents, etc) working
fine and just these things failing? It's also worth noting that
they look fine if I dump them out to a PHP file and pull it up in a
browser...
Please, if anyone can help... I've been bashing my head
against this for the better part of the day!!

did you take a look at the "gateway.php' ? There you can
define charsets. Maybe a western europe charset will
help you out. Since french language is using a lot more
accents and so.
This is what you can find in the gateway.php of amfphp. Just
have to set the right one ;)
