Clients losing connection on 871W...kinda

I have a problem with myself a few other clients randomly disconnecting from my 871W. It appears that I am still associated but Windows 7 shows "Limited Access". I appear to be assosciated to the AP and I still have my ip address but I can't ping the 192.168.1.1 gateway (871W). I have also set my power plan to allow for Maximum Performance which I thought disabled PSP but the log is still showing errors.
As a final note, after I reconnected by ip address (192.168.1.107) doesn't show up in "sh ip dhcp bindings" but I'm working.
To correct the situation, I have to disconnect and the reconnect to the AP and then I am good for another day or close to it. Any ideas what is going on and w how to fix it??? Below are the log errors, config and a sh ver. Any help would be very much appreciated.

I changed the scope and the respective parts of the config to a 192.168.41.0 scope. Still getting a ton of these errrors though which will most likely cause disconnects. This may be a problem with the nic driver when I'm running on battery. I think it is still trying to use power saving mode.

  • Mac and windows clients losing connection to Server 2012 Namespace

I am running Windows 2012 Standard edition on two HP Servers. Both are fully patched O/S's and all HP system updates are installed. Each is running a 10 Gbit NIC to a Cisco 2960 Switch fully updated. Both Network shares are on HP external Drive bays connected
through a Smart Array P822 card
All users connect to the primary server (secondary server configured not to take referrals at this time)
My Mac clients running OS X 10.9.1 connect using smb and the namespace. When the designers come in they usually have to reboot in order to connect to their server shares. We discovered today that if they change the IP address the reboot is not needed. We
have an archive server running on a Synology NAS. Their connection to the Synology is not impacted.
The windows machines will lose connection at random and not everyone at once. Usually no more than twice in a week. The fix is either a reboot or an IP change, sometimes both. None of the machines go to sleep or hibernate. All machines are fully patched
with windows updates, and HP system updates.
We run Avast on both the Mac's and PC's if this makes a difference.
    Any thoughts?
    thanks

    thanks Shaon,,
    1) IP address before is within our DHCP scope of 192..168.0.51/200. When we set to static we set it to 192.168.0.16/20. We then reset back to DHCP.
    2) The error message is that it can not find the server if I try to map it.
    3) Clients can still access by IP address and FQDN
We have disabled Avast on a few machines to see if it will make a difference. We then ran into the issue on a machine without Avast installed.
We did notice that our DNS server was not deleting old entries and we found many duplicate entries. We set it to scavenge and then I went through and deleted old records. Not sure if this would cause a problem or not.
    thanks again for your help!

We want to upgrade the WLC software but want to make sure it’s the issue.

Okay... well at least its not the WLC code or AP tht is an issue.  RLDP whould only be used on monitor mode access points, When used with access points that serve clients, the AP when detecting a rogue, will drop all associated clients.  The AP's will do rogue detection anyways, so no need enable RLDP.

  • RMI client losing connection and weblogic.rjvm.PeerGoneException

What causes PeerGoneExceptions? We are seeing this very often on our
production and test systems. We use WLS RMI clients connected to WLS 4.5.1
servers w/ service pack 10. I understand that there is a heartbeat between
the client JVM and the server JVM. Is there any documentation that explains
how this actually works. For example, how often does the client send its
heartbeat. Is it configurable? What could cause it to stop or drop the
connection. We are using straight T3 (no T3S or HTTP).

  • Clients losing connection to directory servers

    Hi all
Now that the server mailing list is gone (or is it, really??), I'll try here...
I have 20 MacBooks Pro that  lose their connection to the AD and/or (mostly "and") OD server at a seemingly random fashion. One day - all is fine, I can log in as AD / OD user, the other day - no joy. Once a client hasn't been able to find the directory server(s), it will completely refuse to try and reconnect; sometimes, other computers, are perfectly able to do so, but nothing I do will convince the disconnected clients that they should please!! try again: Restarting, odutil reset cache, killling opendirectoryd - nothing. Anything else I could reset? Only shutting them down and leave them off at least over night will help - very often, all will be fine again the next day. Not really an option if the computers are to be used for a lecture.
My setup is a little bit special, but mainly concerning the AD:
20 MacBooks Pro running 10.8 in a private (192.168.x.x) network, connected to the 10.8 OD server (Mac Mini) in the same subnet via wireless (AirPort). The Active Directory is outside the private subnet and is reached via Internet Sharing that a second Mac Mini is doing. People should log in as AD users, OD is doing the management. The weird thing is, the MacBooks are dual boot Mac/Win, and Win is always perfectly able to find the AD (though this may be due to the fact the the Windows cache for these things is extremely "sticky"). The OD is also doing file sharing and DNS for the private subnet.
I'm running out of time and out of ideas - maybe someone out there has got one?
    TIA, Tina

"Not possible" is a strong statement. I'm fairly sure that you can actually transport a MacBook Pro over to an ethernet connection on your main network or to even a location with a wireless connection to your main organizational network and see if the problem occurs or not.
I'm saying that you need to identify if this is a network problem or a directory service problem. For TESTING purposes you need to simplify your network. Then if the problem does not reappear, you can concentrate on improving the network. If the problem is still there after simplifying your network, you can look to directory services. It's a process of elimination.
You may not be able to operate the way you want to operate your network, but you won't know that until you test the operation of your MacBooks under more "normal" network conditions.
I have to say that you have, in my opinion, built a network "house of cards." It just doesn't seem like a reliable setup to me to have a Mac mini internet sharing a VPN connection to get access to an AD domain. And if the network isn't reliable, then the problems will be just like you describe, sometimes a problem and sometimes working…
You also say you suspect that the AD Windows systems work because they are caching more information. Fine, setup the MacBooks with mobile user accounts. Or even better, external user accounts with portable home folders and make the students carry their own external drives to connect to the MacBooks. Then your MacBook Pros computers will be caching even more information than your AD Windows computers.

  • Idle Clients Losing Connection to Autonomous AP

I have two users who both use tablets.  My AP's are autonomous  -  1131AG version 12.4 (21a).  It appears the users lose connection when they are idle, and they frustrated when having to reauthenticate.  What can I change to increase the amount of time the users can remain connected while idle?  Is this something corrected in a higher code for the AP?  Thanks!

Here's a tip that can get your wireless connection from dropping out  repeatedly. If you are using a AP (particularly a dual band AP),  you'll want to go into the wireless settings (usually under "setup"),  and specify a channel. Try using a different channel than the default,  and make this settings for both of your bands (2.4Ghz and 5Ghz). Definitely do not use the "auto"  setting. From our troubleshooting it appears that this is the main  culprit. Try setting a higher channel, and if that doesn't work, try  different channels. It's very possible that there are enough networks in  your immediate area on the same channel that they're conflicting with  each other.

  • Recent problem: clients are losing connection to AMS 5.0.1

For the past week, since Oct 14, we've been having issues with clients losing connection to our AMS application. We have online classes that include a chat room and sometimes an audio stream from the instructor. This application and its server has been running stable for months... until last week.
One of our staff was connected to the app, getting everything set up for a class, and she started complaining of getting disconnected. I looked in the application logs and noticed that the application.onDisconnect was being triggered. However, the client didn't register that it had been disconnected  for several seconds afterward. She let me know when she got the "Diconnected" message on her screen, which comes from the NetConnection.onStatus handler.
The only other sign of a problem is that in the server's core logs we started getting the following error when we checked bandwidth:
    > Invalid command message data: unexpected bw response from client 000000001D670170
The client number changes frequently, so I'm guessing that this is first happening to one person and then another. We don't think that this bandwidth check is causing the disconnects because we rolled back to a previous version that didn't have it. The disconnects still happened after using the old version. What makes it frustrating is that it hasn't happened to anyone on the dev team, regardless of which network we've connected from. Also, the code hasn't changed on the client or the server, and to my knowledge, we're still using the same configs for months.
The AMS is v5.0.1, the client is written is AS2 and targets Flash Player 11.4.
The affected Flash Players reported are 15.0.0.152 and 15.0.0.189, in browsers IE, Firefox, and Chrome, but not all installations are affected.
Is there anything else I can look at to determine what the problem is? Does anybody have any insight as to what might be suddenly affecting our AMS app?
    Many thanks,
    Nick

Yes, we came to the same conclusion about the unexpected bw. We realize that it is not causing the issue, but I included it because it started happening at the same time and thought that they might be caused by the same issue.
We have been trying to come up with what changed to cause this, and aren't coming up with anything.
We have been on 5.0.1 for at least 5 months, no changes there.
    We haven't updated the main.asc since 9/16.
The VM that runs our server is still the same, and AMS config files haven't been touched.
The client swf had a change 2 weeks ago, but we've reverted the change and are now using the old swf again.
The person who initially reported the problem was using the same computer that she's used many times to connect; she was going through her usual process to set up for the session.
You mentioned bad network, and that is another thing that I have been looking into, but our IT department says that we haven't seen any huge increase in bandwidth usage, and that everything looks to be within normal operating ranges
If there are any other points that you can think of that I could check for changes, I'm open to suggestions. This problem has been ongoing for 6 days, and I have been searching for answers since it started.

  • Window 2000 & RMI client losing network connection

We have a client/server java application communicating via RMI. The application runs perfect when the network is running smoothly. However, once the client loses connectivity with the network, the client runs in offline mode (as expected). However, once the client reestablishes a connection with the network, it is unable to communicate with the Server via RMI. It seems that Windows 2000 reassigns the client's IP address when it goes offline to localhost (127.0.0.1), when the client is reconnected the IP addresses is changed back to the network address, but it is unable to send data to the server running RMI. Any suggestions? We did not experience this problem with Windows NT.

you need to specify the IP address of the server object from the JVM in which it is exported, using -Djava.rmi.server.hostname argument to the JVM (since the client and server run on one machine, you probably want to set this to 127.0.0.1, I think)

  • Windows 8 keeps losing connectivity

Hi, not sure if this is unique but for the past few weeks Windows 8 has been losing connectivity every few minutes when browsing web pages, playing games etc. I am sure it's windows 8 as I have another work laptop using XP that I can be on all day via a
VPN and that does not drop at all (it would normally drop within a few seconds of losing connectivity). I've done a lot of searching on the net for the same issue, others seem to be having similar things happen such as slow speed but can't find anything that
    matches, hence this separate question.
I have also tried swapping routers to no avail. The thing is, you wouldn't know anything had happened from the network connectivity. Suddenly a page won't load. The wireless connectivity at the bottom right of the screen shows a full 5 bars (not limited
connectivity). The way to get it back again is to leave it for a few minutes or disconnect from the router and reconnect again. Even whilst typing this I have had to do that twice.
    I'd appreciate some suggestions!
    Many Thanks, Paul.

  • How to find out what server the outlook client is connected to/change it automatically

    Hi,
I am performing a server migration from Exchange 2010 to Exchange 2010 (the previous installation was installed by an outsourced provider and is rubbish so I'm configuring it properly). On the of things the existing server lacks is a CAS array configured,
so I have built the new Exchange 2010 server, configured a new DB and CASArray. I have created a brand new mailbox for a new user and the user's outlook shows it is connected to casarray.domain.local, I have migrated my own mailbox but internally my outlook
shows it is connected to oldserver.domain.local (under the account settings when you go to change the settings for the account), this is on a domain joined internal desktop. But at home on my personal laptop non-domain joined, it has appeared to reflect the
new casarray.domain.local. The outlook client is 2007 in both situations.
When I run the following command, it shows my mailbox is indeed connected to the new exchange server, but this is not true in outlook
    Get-LogonStatistics -Server "new-exch2010" | where {$_.clientname -eq "new-exch2010"}| ft username,servername,clientname
If I run the above command against the old server my name shows on that list as well. When I look at the connection status of my outlook it shows that it is connected to casarray for directory, but the old server for mail.
    A couple of other things:
Mailflow is now going to the new exchange server from the gateway over port 25, the autodiscover record in the internal DNS is now also pointing to the new exchange server, outlook clients and users computers have been completely restarted but still don’t
seem to pick up the new settings, both the old server and new server functions as a multi-role exchange having the Hub, CAS and MBX roles.
Now that you have all that background info my question is two parts:
What is the correct powershell command I can run on the exchange server to ensure that all my outlook clients are connected to the new exchange server for all connection types (or identify those which are connected against the old server)?
How do I get the outlook clients to automatically pick up the casarray servername once their mailboxes have been migrated?
I am considering removing the CAS from the old server which may force outlook to find it’s new server but am unsure whether this will work or not, and I think I should migrate all the mailboxes into the new DB before I do this.
Other than that, I am out of ideas.
    Appreciate, any help. Thanks
    Steve

I had already run the command Get-MailboxDatabase | FL Identity,RpcClientAccessServer
and it only identified the old database as being tied to the server name, the new database has the correct casarray and all mailboxes are in this new database. should I also set the old database to point to my casarray as the second command indicates? can't
    do any harm right?
also, I have outlook 2007 and 2013 at home and both of them had automatically reconfigured
themselves to point to casarray, my problem is with the internal clients.
today I have also noticed in DNS there is a Zone which points to autodiscover.domain.co.uk
and in there it points to my old server.
a few things to note about the above:
    1. the zone is pointing to the .co.uk domain not the .local - is this correct?
    2. should that zone even be in our internal DNS, i hadn't noticed on previous implementation
    of Exchange I have done
    3. if i change the record within that zone to point to my new server, will this likely show
up the popup message shown in this link http://www.rackspace.com/apps/support/portal/1218 I havent yet got a certificate for the new exchange server (few more days) and i dont want users seeing any kind of untrusted unsecure connection box or it
will only lead to panic and flooding the helpdesk
    many thanks

  • External drive conntected to Time Capsule keeps losing connection

I've been having this problem since I bought my TC over one year ago. Other than this everything works fine (aside from the occasional need for a restart).
I have an external 500GB drive attached to my 500GB TC via usb. I use the TC strictly for backups and the other drive to host my media files. When I want to use those files I switch on the drive. Only about half of the time does that work. When it does work everything is fine. I see the drive in the finder as expected.
When it doesn't work, I can see the drive name in the finder. But if I click to go into the folder, I get an error saying that the connection cannot be found.
It shows up in the Airport Utility as normal.
Powering the drive off and on does not help.
Relaunching the finder doesn't help either.
The only way I can connect to the drive again is to either logoff and log back into my mac, or restart the TC.
It seems that my computer is remembering some kind of network disk mounting settings that don't get refreshed when I turn on the drive, but then do get refreshed when I logoff and back in. Does anyone know how I could force that refresh to happen? Has anyone had this problem before?
Any suggestions would be much appreciated
PS all my software and firmware are the latest.
    Thanks.

Left click on the Finder icon from the Dock and click "Connect to server...", go to recent server and click on your Airport Time Capsule.
    THANK YOU!!!!
    This solved it for me!

  • Network Drives Losing Connection from Server 2012 to Windows 7 64bit Machines

I have about 20 users at my facility and recently upgraded our server from one running server 2003 to one running server 2012. Since that occurred, I have had numerous issues that I did not encounter on the old server.
Lately, users have been losing connection to the shared network drives randomly and constantly. The drives will come back on-line on their own but it could be 2 minutes or 30 minutes before they do and when users are in the middle of working on a document
from the network, they are unable to save until the drive comes back. Manually disconnecting and re-mapping them works sometimes but then the problem will re-occur. I have tried re-doing the shares and security settings and run a couple of supposed hotfixes
on the client side and the server side to no avail.
Now our regional office is suggesting that I re-connect the old server and then rebuild the new one with server 2008 r2, something I would like to avoid if possible.
I feel like this is a simple setting that I am missing, no conditions have changed except for the new server.
The server is a Intel Xeon CPU E5-2609 2.40GHz with Server 2012 64 bit on it. All computers (except on on 32 bit) are running Windows 7 Enterprise edition 64 bit.
    Please help.

I made this change to the registry on the server and am waiting to see if I have any more drops.
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\lanmanserver\parameters
    Value:
    autodisconnect
    Data
    type : REG_DWORD
    Value:
    ffff (Hex)
There was a client side change suggested but I am missing that value for the client side change and others in the organization who don't have it are not experiencing this problem.
