Clip masked image moves after save- little help please?
Hi, All. I've been working at a printing company for the last 3 years and have seen the issue I'm about to describe only a handful of times. I'd like to understand it more and know if there is a fix that can be utilized before saving the file for production.
So, here's my dilemma.... I've saved Illustrator EPS files that have multiple images that are placed and embedded into the document. All of the images are "cropped" using clipping masks. They have been every common type of image extension (jpg, tif, eps). The issue that I'm seeing is that one or two of the images "jump" from their original placement but we've only caught it during the rip or even after it has been printed (which makes for wasted material). The jump isn't by centimeters either. They always end up off the artboard entirely so the clipping mask shape is the only thing left in place.
So, what's the deal? I've seen this happen in CS3 and CS4. Does anyone have a solution or an inkling of any possible reasoning behind this? I'd appreciate any and all feedback!

The majority of the files we receive are from outside sources. We have in-house preflighting as a courtesy to our clients before we print since our displays range from the very small to the very large. I haven't seen it happen with PSD files but we're too big to convert all the images we receive to PSD files. Who knows if that would even be a fix.

Need a little help please Airport Express
Need a little help please.
I am trying to set up a wireless network at my home using Airport Express.
I have a regular phone line running in to I assume the modem. From there, there is an Ethernet cable running from that box to the back of the PC. My question is, I think, which of those do I unplug and plug into the Airport Express, the one on the back of the PC or the one that is in the back of the modem, or is this totally wrong.
Any help would be appreciated…

PS I have the manual but to me it is not very clear…Your connection sequence would look like this:
Internet > Modem > AirPort Express >>>wireless to your computers.
This means that you would unplug the cable that is now connected at the back of your PC and move that connection to the AirPort Express.
Open Macintosh HD > Applications > Utilities > AirPort Utility
Click Continue to follow the guided setup. On the third page, you will choose the option to "Create a wireless network" and continue the setup. -

When you say "mouse button", do you mean clicking on the controls in the upper left of the iTunes window or do you mean that you have special media keys on your mouse?

Guys, a little help please before i launch my new toys out of my pram I've got the new apple TV, Ipad2, and IOS5 update. I'm trying to set up mirrorring , however, when i double click the home page and swipe, the only options it gives me are Ipad or Apple TV. The video shows that i should be able to simply click on mirrorring and whazam it appears on my TV... I can't get this option.... I've rebooted them (router, ipad 2 and Apple Tv) numerous times but still can't get it.......Can someone tell me what I'm doing wrong?

Check current AppleTV software version in Settings>General>About
Latest is 4.4.2 - there's a sticky at the top of the page about updating - if you're on 4.3 or lower just update from Settings.
Maybe someone can confirm the video you mention is actually the correct way to invoke mirroring - link?

Your phone is carrier locked to a carrier other than the one you are trying to use.
It was apparently hacked to unlock it prior to your attempt to update. Updating has re-locked it to the original carrier.
Contact them and find out what their policy is. -
Little help please regarding deleting files and folders...
My wife has a MBP and has accumulated some old items in her documents folder that she'd like to delete. She has a USB mouse but the "right click" doesn't appear to work. She's running 10.4.11 and can't reveal the files in icon mode to facilitate dragging to trash. Certainly there is a sequence of keystroke commands that will allow these files to be effectively trashed, but our "control/delete", or "apple/delete", or "option/delete" doesn't do the trick after highlighting the subject file. Help please! TIA!
To delete a file or folder, high light it then using the keyboard type Command Delete and that will delete it. If you have multiple files and/or folders the same keyboard commands apply.

An update to my Touch went haywire and I lost my music and apps but luckily I had subscribed to i Cloud and they were reinstated but my music contents page - "artists", "songs" etc. no longer has any colour and the shuffle will not work. Help please?

You have tried turingin on shuffle, right?
Try:
- Reset the iPod. Nothing will be lost
Reset iPod touch: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
- Restore from backup
- Restore to factory settings/new iPod. -

Clips Appear From "Nowhere" After Save
Holy bleedin' crap, I'm about to throw my system down the stairs -- this is driving me NUTS! Here's the deal:
I have hours and hours of raw footage in iMovie. I've gone through each clip and edited-out portions I don't want. I drag my clips tot he timeline to start building the main movie, and after a while, I save.
Then it happens: clips suddenly appear in the Clip Pane -- clips that are old, etc.
WHY IS THIS HAPPENING?!? Is it because I tried to edit clips while they were in the Pane rather than after they were in the Timeline? It's totally screwing up my movie, because I think I'm almost done with a section so I save, and then clips appear from footage that should have been included in an already timeline-added part of the movie.Is the project saved on an external drive? If so, and if the drive does not use the Mac OS Extended disk format, iMovie can't reliably save to the drive. So when you try to save, nothing works as it should.

I have a document containing some scanned linked images in indesign. However when I see some errors in in them, I crop them in Photoshop. When these images get updated, they either increase in their size ( if I have autofit enabled), or change their position if I have autofit disabled. Is there a way so that the image stays in place after I crop them in Photoshop? I’m using indesign cs6
Pixel dimensions is the size, in pixels, of the image. Resolution is how large you wish to print those pixels by specifying how may will fill a defined space, ie. 300 pixels in the space of an inch. Resolution has nothing to do with number of pixels that the image contains. When you crop the image in Photoshop you are cutting off pixels and throwing them away -- changing the pixel dimensions for the image.

That's what I mean (except that I also mean you can move the image around inside the frame rather than adjusting the frame itself). There is no functional difference in your output if you crop in ID, and there are plenty of advantages, like the ability to reposition or show more of the image, and the size of the image doesn't change if you edit. -

Objects Move after Save with LinkBack Plugin

LinkBack seems to break Keynote grouped objects when the file is saved. When re-opened, the grouped objects spread out (explode).
There was a fix posted quite some time ago (users were running 10.4.10), but this fix does not seem to work any longer with 10.5.
I was wondering if there are any new ideas on this topic? Is LinkBack use discouraged by Apple?Update: although it appears that the file is corrupted only when saved, closed and reopened, the corruption actually happens during save. I checked this by saving but not closing, then copying the file to another Mac, which showed the same problem. The reason why you don't notice it if you keep the file open is that the corruption occurs in the presentation as it is saved, not as it is stored in memory.
Of the four Macs I tried it on, the two Intel machines (iMac and MacBook) have the file corruption problem, but the two PowerPC machines (iMac G5 and PowerBook G4) don't, so I definitely think it's Intel-specific. By selective editing and keeping a master copy on my PowerBook G4 I have been able to work around the issue, but it is a major pain. Also, I did experience a few crashes when playing the presentation on the iMac G5, so there seem to be other issues as well.
I have a very important presentation next week in front of a couple of hundreds of people, so it wouldn't look too good for Apple if I had to resort to PowerPoint or PDF! -
Hi, after a little help editing this lettering.
Hi all, I've currently got some standard lettering opened in adobe illustrator in font 'copper'
I'm looking to cut this out on my plotter and have tried this (length of vinyl is around 10cm.
When weeding the material, it's pretty difficult and some lettering lifts up with the vinyl so what I'm looking to do is add block line at the bottom 10th of the lettering.
This line will hold all the letters together.
I know I could simply add a rectangle but I'll need the bottom 10th of the lettering removed so it is not cut on the plotter.
Please help with what I can do
Thanks,If I understand correctly, and I appologize if I don't, I think the following process will work.
I'm assuming the vinyl cutter follows the paths of the font, and if you draw a rectangle over the font to "connect" the letters, the path of the font is still active, so the cutter still follows that path and defeats the purpose of adding the "connecting" rectangle.
I would:
1. Outline the text.
2. Draw the rectangle "connecter" over the outlined text.
3. Select the rectangle and text and use the Unite function in the Pathfiner menu.
4. This will, well, unite the shapes so the paths around the text that crosses over the rectangle will be eliminated.
Hope this is on the right track and is of assistance.
