Clip with problem

I'm doing an exercise for my students using Parallax, when using the Clipping Tool or propriendade Clip this problem happens, I wonder if I'm doing something wrong?

Clipping Tool with problem - YouTube

basicaly, I got a clip that acts as a botton from which a menu drops. the idea is to get the clip to play as I pass over it with my mouse pointer and disapear as i leave the click zone. the clip is on my root and in the clip on my first frame I've put that script that I've posted earlier. it works fine for the scroll over, but it doesn't disapear once i leave the click zone.

How else are you going to use it?
I thought somehow there was a way to use the sequence itself into the multiclip.
Like a nested sequence used as a clip.

  • How do I move a clip with transitions attached on the primary storyline?

One more frustrating problem with the mysterious magnetic timeline: on the priumary storyline I created a text clip with a gap clip on each side, then added cross dissolve at the beginning and end of the clip so that it fades in and out to black:
Now I want to reposition this text in the timeline, mantaining the fade in/out at the head and tails. In FCP7 this was simple as a gap in the timeline simply showed black and the clip could be moved as one piece. In FCPX when I try to move the text clip with the P position tool, the transitions disappear after repositioning. Extremely frustrating:
If I select the clip and the fades together, plus the gap clip at the end, and move them together with the Position tool then the fade out is retained, but the fade in still disappears. I've also tried rolling from the fade in from the gap clip before it, but instead of rolling the clip ahead this shortens the fade (I think the behavior of trimming and rolling transitions is totally wacky). The trim tool is also useless in this situation as you can only select one edit point at a time with it.
The only solution I found is to cut the gap clip before the transition, then move the text clip and transitions with the P tool. This will create two abuting gap clips before the text clip, but allow the transitions to remain intact. Not hard, but annoying to have to do
Often I have to adjust the position of a text clip in the timeline like this after adding the transitions to get the timing right. Is there any way to move the clip while retaining the transitions at the beginning and end? It would be so much easier to be able to roll the edges of the gap clips so that I didn't have to make extra edits and workarounds.
The problem seems to be that the gap clip acts as like a regular black slug video clip in some cases, but not in other case. When you move a clip in the primary storyline a gap clip is automatically created to fill a gap -- okay, fine. But you can roll the edges of a video clip with the P tool, but not a gap clip. ***?
I'm using the latest update, 10.0.8. I will be submitting this to Apple as well....

I am trying to move the text clip forward with the transitions still attached. The difference is that in FCP7 you can leave a gap before a dissolve and it will fade in from black. If you move the text clip, the dissolve moves with it, still attached.
In FCPX however, the gap has to be a gap clip. So the dissolve is attached to both the gap clip and to the text clip. Once you put the dissolve on the edit point, there is no way to move the text clip forward or back on the timeline without deleting the dissolve. Or, if you move the clip forward or back with the Position tool (necessary to create a gap) then the transitions just disappear.
Basically, I am looking to roll the transition with the clip.
I could use the opacity handle on the text clip (using "show video animation") in stead of a dissolve, but then I have no control over the shape of the dissolve curve and I'd have to add extra handles to the text clip to center the dissolve where I want it.
Regarding "I very seldom use the position tool. Rolling the gap clips can be done with the regular arrow tool - *that* is one example of the magnetic timeline working for you."
This is true, but clips behave differently when you you roll with the P tool vs the A tool. With the A tool, other clips are magnetically rippled forward or back on the timeline to maintain their relative relationship and avoid all gaps. With the P tool, video clips maintain their position on the timeline, creating or trimming gap clips when a gap is created or filled. The problem arises when a transition is attached to the clip you are moving or trimming.
I understand in priniciple why it behaves the way it does, but it's inconvenient in this case, and inconsistent with the normal behavior of gap clips when a transition isn't involved.
In my mind the transition should be anchored to the video clip, not to both the video and gap clip when there is a transition between the two.

  • Does version 12 support producing video clip with AMR audio codec?

From some documents i used as reference to proceude some videos for my phone Premiere Elements 8 can produce video clips with AMR audio codec. I bought today the Premiere elements 12 but I can not find a way to set AMR audio codec for my video clip. Only AAC audio codec seems available.   Is it possible to add AMR codec to 12 version?

    Neurona17
Adobe typically supports only current version, and, if you purchased from it, is strict on "within 30 days of purchase": for money back on that current version purchase. I do not believe such a thing as a "change the license for other earlier release such as 8 or 9" exists at Adobe. But, you could ask. If you wish to purchase one of those earlier versions that supports AMR export, you might still find some online.
Is the before import conversion of AMR to WAV a viable alternative?
    You wrote
Unfortunately so far I have not been able to generate any useful video clip for my system with this 12 version.
Is this in regard to the AMR requirement or to any video without the AMR audio?
Online I have seen that there is a download for the AMR audio codec. Does your system now show that you have such a codec installed on your computer. If not, I am not sure if download of this codec would place it in the Premiere Elements Publish+Share export settings choices, similar to import of some .avi video codecs. (Sometimes 3rd party codecs can create problem, so proceed with caution if you pursue that AMR audio codec idea.

  • Merging clips with diff Aud Vid sources

Does anyone know a way to successfully merge Audio & Video from separate sources with diff TC to make an independent clip but keep the same TC from the Video? I have video from DV CAM tapes, but the audio was recorded on DATs. The TC on the DATs is screwed up. I lined up the vid/aud according to the slates and made sequences, then made subclips from the sequences. I'm unable to make clips from these sequences, and having problems with match frame when I cut in the sequences as clips. I know this is confusing, if anyone has any advice, please let me know! Thanks!!!

I lined up the vid/aud according to the slates and made sequences, then made subclips from the sequences.
If you can go back to this point in your workflow - that is, if you still have the sequences available - try this...
Select a video clip and the audio clips that you've lined up with that video clip in the Timeline and press Command-L to link them
(The clip names in the Timeline should now be underlined)
Drag the newly-linked clips back to the Browser. If you linked correctly, they should show up as a single video clip (with audio)
(I'd highly recommend both renaming this clip - which will have the name of your original video clip - to reflect the fact that it has audio from the DAT, as well as moving this clip into a separate bin from your capture files. When you use this clip to edit, you should not have issues with Match Frame, since FCP sees this as a clip)
Rinse and repeat for all your files/clips
Or have you tried that and had no luck?

  • Best way to export clips with effects, like project manager

First of all I would like to say hello to everybody, cause this is my first post, thanks in advance for your help.
    The problem:
I'm running adobe premiere pro cs06 on a mac and what I want to do seems simple but is very difficult. I import material from an Alexa camera, putting all the clips to the timeline and add some effects to the clips, too.
Now I want to export all changed clips with the same codec, filename and timecode, just like I can do, when I use the project manager to consolidate my files.
So the goal is an easy way to add effects and export same as source?!
    Again thank you very much
    Cheers
    Bird

Thank you for your answers so far,
First I dont want to export to the arriraw format, what I want to export to is prores444. The reason why is simply because there are some effekts that might speed up my workflow, let me explain:
Most jobs I do the following, I work as a DIT and colorcorrect footage from lots of cameras on set and export them to any kind of codec using davinci resolve.
The most time consuming progess is the neutralizing of all the different camera models..
With plugins like re:match from re:vision it could save me some time, due to its good auto correction, which would give me a good starting point for my further colorcorrection.
But in order to be faster than my normal way, I need to have some auto or same as source export funktion. Although when the clips match the original metadata I will have no problems in the later stages of my workflow.

  • Ghosting occurs in shape tweens in clips with scale9Grid active.

Why does ghosting occur in shape tweens?  Is this some kind of rendering bug?  I seem to keep running into stuff like this
(sorry, first post had image that was not cropped properly by MSPaint and had tons of white space; I fixed it)
--Background (feel free to skip if TL;DR): My SkinnedButton class supports states for DEFAULT, ROLLOUT, ROLLOVER, PRESS, RELEASE, RELEASEOUTSIDE, TRACKOVER, TRACKOUT, DRAGOVER, DRAGOUT, DRAGDROP, plus all variations of SELECTED_* states in addition to a "selectedMask" and "focusMask" display objects that are automatically arranged, docked, and made visible to suit not only the button state, but also (at least in the case of "focusMask") taking into account the manor in which it entered a particular state (via keyboard, via mouse, via assignment, what the drag source origin was, exact origin clip, custom tracked drag source, whether a drag even began, was cancelled, etc.).  It dispatches events for all of these states and has fallback chains for any that are missing, since they're all classified into simple states out, over, and down.  For example, if no RELEASE state is defined (can be either property named "mc_release" or "release" label on "skin" MovieClip), then it will progressively fall back to ROLLOVER, ROLLOUT, and finally DEFAULT until one is defined.  The bare minimum for a functional button is to define a clip for the default state.
So anyway, I wanted to animate my "release" state by having the button collapse and expand, and I discovered this odd ghosting behavior.  This is just a simple reproduction of the problem with no special logic, just a shape tween on a clip with scale9Grid active.  It appears as though Flash isn't re-rendering the bottom most shape as its exposed by the tweened shape on the layer above:ShapeTweenGhosting.fla - Google Drive
I suspect this is occurring because of the active scale9Grid, since the ghosting goes away when you turn it off, but then the button is all distorted.  Turning on cacheAsBitmap exhibits the same behavior.  Again, it's not a performance issue, it's just incorrectly rendering.  I don't see any documentation stating shape-tween animations are not allowed in clips with scale9Grid applied.  The shapes themselves appear to be rendering correctly based on the scale9Grid (i.e. without distortion), but the ghosting is a problem.
Here is an even more pronounced example with a large shrinking and expanding oval shape:
    ShapeTweenGhosting2.fla - Google Drive

I posted a bug here: Bug#3767678 - Ghosting occurs in shape tweens in clips with scale9Grid active
Continued experimentation revealed it occurs on the y axis too, and depends on how much you scale the clip.
At 99%, 100%, and 101%, no ghosting is observed.  At 110%, it occurs a little bit.  At 120%, the ghosting is very pronounced.  I suspect the problem is arising due to inaccurate calculations of the redraw regions, which may not be taking into account certain scaling factors, perhaps such as stroke widths; however, I reduced all stroke widths to zero (hairline), and the ghosting still occurred, so something is not quite right.

  • Erratic Clip Length Problems

    Hi all
I am having REAL pains in the rear end with a project I am working on. For example, I will import a graphic file, allocate it a 5 second length, then place a 1 second transition either side, leaving the original clip with just 18 seconds left - as opposed to 3 seconds !!
This is a problem I have had on previous versions and on different machines, but I would have thought that by now Apple would have solved this issue
Does anyone have any insight into how to manage this, apart from throwing it all out of the window !!
    Many thanks

    Hi again eventproducer,
There is a bug in iMovie 5.0.2 (and some earlier versions) which only affects PAL projects, but this was fixed in iMovie HD 6 (not sure which version). As I recall, the bug first appeared after iMovie 2.
Transitions were rendered with an incorrect duration. For example, to achieve a rendered transition of 2 seconds duration, a setting of 1 second 17 frames had to be selected when choosing the transition. In essence, the rendered transition always appeared as a factor of 1.2 times the actual duration selected. See Matti Haveri's site:
    http://www.sjoki.uta.fi/~shmhav/iMovieHD_5_bugs.html#paltransitions
If you are still using a version prior to iMovie 6, this explanation may cover part of the problem. Having said that, in your situation, using 1 second transitions on a 5 second clip shouldn't reduce the clip duration to only 0.8 seconds. Under the scenario I've outlined, the duration would reduce to 2 seconds and 15 frames. So, I'm not sure what's going on!
Perhaps you could provide a fuller explanation as to how you are importing and rendering photos. For example, are you importing from the Photos pane within iMovie (ex iPhoto) or from a separate folder? Are you using Ken Burns to render, or is this feature switched off? Any extra information will be very helpful.
    Thanks

  • How to move multiple clips with transitions?

Im still transitioning from FCP7 to FCP 10.1.2 and can't believe I have missed the lesson that explains how to move multiple clips with transitions.
Up till now I have tried several work arounds including deleting all the transitions then using the (P) Position tool to move the clips from the primary track to some track above it then re adding all the transitions.  This is a function I do on a daily basis.  Am I missing something?  Please help!
    Thank you

With some further investigation, the transitions have nothing to do with my problem.  In my case there was a tiny “Black gap slug” within the group that was preventing me from being able set it on top of another group of clips or gap someplace.  But even with the gap removed… I can move the clips on top of another group but the transitions stay behind on the primary (Magnetic)
In the screen shot you can see what happens when I move a group out of the primary (magnetic) timeline onto a gap.  All the transitions get left behind.
Ive notices that Cutting and pasting will only paste the sequence some other place on the primary (magnetic) timeline for me.
An example of why I would want to put a cropped/ resized group on top of another group is to do picture in picture effects or if I wanted to create a background behind a set of adjusted clips.

  • Having lots of trouble creating a multicam clip with independently recorded audio in sync

I can't figure out why this isn't working and have tried it many different ways and many times. Here's the situation:
Video was shot on a Canon 5D Mark III and a Canon 7D (I suspect this may be part of the problem because the 5D has timecode capabilities and the 7D doesn't)
Primary audio was recorded on a Zoom H4N but each camera recorded audio also and the levels are all fine
I've tried the following to create the mutlicam clip of the interview with all audio and video in sync:
Naming the Camera Angle for each clip (Profile and Straight On)
Selecting all of the relevant video clips
Seleting all of the relevant audio and video clips
Synchronizing the video clips with the high quality audio clips (half of which I had to do by hand) and then selecting the sychronized clips to create the multicam clip
None of this works. In the end a multicam clip is created that is completely out of sync. I'm at a loss and would love any help!
    Thank you.
    Nick

I saw in a video tutorial (after trying to find solutions to this problem) that one should assign the independent audio to the same camera angle as one of the cameras. After assigning it to its own angle, it did much better but it loses sync about half way through now. Screenshot attached.

  • Subclips from Merged clips sync problem

    Hi all,
I'm hoping someone has some insight into a problem I'm having. When I sync audio to my TK dailies, I usually go through the following steps:
    1. Sync video clip and audio clip in the timeline.
    2. Trim the ends so that I get rid of all the audio and video at the beginning and end I don't need.
    3. Link audio and video.
    4. Drag linked clips to browser, thus creating a merged clip. This clip will have the in and out I set in the timeline, but the media start and stop will be the original clips' lengths. Because this means I usually have a big long useless bunch of audio at the beginning with no picture, I like to get rid of this, so I:
    5. Create a subclip from the merged clip in the browser. This creates a new clip with the media start and end at the point of the former merged clip's in and out. No extra media to clutter things up.
HOWEVER, for some reason this isn't working for me now. When I create the subclip, Final Cut does make the in and out points the new media start and stop times for each individual audio and video clip, but it syncs the clips randomly, so I have sound with no image, then a little random overlap, then image with no sound. If I drag this new subclip made from the merged clip to the timeline, I can unlink and relink to restore the proper sync, but obviously this is a huge pain.
This has never happened to me before, and I've used this method for a while, I THINK from before FCP 6. But right now I'm working on an FCP 5.1.4 again so perhaps it's just something that works in 6? Though I'm almost sure I did it before version 6 successfully.
Does anyone know what's up with this? Or have any ideas for another method to get to the same result? There probably is a better way to do this anyway!
    Thanks,
    Nayeli

Well, I spoke too soon. That DID turn out to be the problem for that one project, which was at 29.97 non drop frame in general, but for some reason the sound imports as drop frame (though the sound guy assures me it's non drop and all my setting are non drop).
However, I'm having the same problem now in a 24fps project, where I have audio at 48KHz with 24fps timecode and I did a reverse telecine on the original 16mm video. I noticed, however, that though the telecine had no audio, empty audio was captured, and it thinks this audio was at 48048 Hz. This remains even after the reverse telecine. Could this be the problem in this instance?

  • KEN BURNS imovie clip timing PROBLEMS!!!

I'm having some trouble adjusting the timing for pictures that I have put the Ken Burns effect onto, in imovie. I have selected all the clips to be 4 seconds long. Then I have selected the Ken Burns clips to be 4 seconds long as well, but they either have to be RENDERED in order to change the time (and this, I've heard messes up the quality of the pic making it "jagged") OR it only allows the picture to be set at it's pre-given RANDOM lower than 4 second time.
Make sense? PLEASE HELP! I'm about sick of imovie with all the problems I've had.
    Thanks!

Then I have selected the Ken Burns
clips to be 4 seconds long as well, but they either
have to be RENDERED in order to change the time (and
this, I've heard messes up the quality of the pic
    making it "jagged")
You may have misunderstood something important, Smiley, so I want to correct it. Ken Burns does NOT add jaggies to images. It actually INOCULATES the image from getting jaggies later.
The jaggies are added when you press the Create iDVD Project button (in the iDVD tab). That's when iMovie offers to render any unrendered photos -- convert them to video clips. If you grant permission to render, the jaggies get added to those clips.
Ken Burns renders images beautifully. The rendering routine iMovie uses later adds the jaggies.
OR it only allows the picture to
be set at it's pre-given RANDOM lower than 4 second
    time.
The user interface for configuring Ken Burns settings is confusing and sometimes buggy. Until you figure it out, it sometimes appears to have a mind of its own. For what it's worth, I've never seen KB apply random durations to a group of images, and it's not a complaint we see here. So my guess is you're doing something inconsistent with how the Ken Burns user interface likes to do things, or you've bumped up against a bug.
One bug is that the text boxes in Ken Burns are quite unreliable. It's best to use the sliders to set the duration and zooms instead of the text boxes. The duration slider is more reliable than your typing the duration in the text box at the end of the slider, for example. If you use the text box, remember to hit the tab key after entering the text. And, of course, be sure to use the sec:frame format, e.g. 4:00 or 4:22. If you type the numbers differently, iMovie will probably do something unexpected.
One of the interface anomalies occurs when the Ken Burns checkbox is on when you select a photo in the iPhoto list. Then Ken Burns does a preview dance in its little thumbnail image, with animation. As that animation runs, changing any Ken Burns settings will almost certainly fail. You will probably accidentally set a feature you didn't intend.
Here's why: As the animation progresses, Ken Burns switches from the Start position to the End position. If you click on a photo in the list, then reach up to set the Start position, you'll probably unintentionally set the End position. So always wait for the preview to finish before setting anything.
Another confusing (but useful) feature is that Ken Burns always applies the features of your last-clicked-on Ken Burns clip to the upcoming import. So if you pre-set your Ken Burns features, THEN click on a previously-imported Ken Burns clip, the Ken burns settings will change from YOUR settings to the settings for that clip. (That's immensely useful, for it lets us apply the settings of a clip we like to one or more photos we want to import, but it can be very confusing.) So if you have manually configured some settings for the next import, do NOT click on a clip before importing that image.
Another bug: if the Ken Burns checkbox was OFF when a photo was imported, clicking on that clip does NOT correctly re-display the settings for that clip. Ken Burns doesn't correctly show the pan or zoom. If you Update the clip with a new duration, the pan and zoom of the new clip won't be correctly applied.
I don't know if any of that helps you figure out what's going on there, but hopefully so. If not, describe EXACTLY the steps that cause the problem to occur so others can test it.

  • Has the clip marker problem been resolved in Premiere cs6?

Has the clip marker problem been resolved in Premiere CS6.  As of early July, it was not!  Navigating, synchronizing clips seems impossible.

In my case I'm trying to match professional footage of a concert with audience-submitted cell phone footage. The pro footage can't be synced with the non-pro footage via Pluraleyes because the cell phone audio is way too high to be analyzed properly. Hence I need to manually sync, which I can't do efficiently because I can't put clip markers on the pro footage once it's synced in pluraleyes and sent back into Premiere, because it only exists in a sequence.
I have no idea why Adobe would remove a function used daily by its editors, one that was simple and reliable, for no reason.
And what's puzzling is that there's been not even an acknowledgement of the issue from anyone at Adobe for 8 months.
This doesn't make any sense. Usually customer service from Adobe is much better than this. Why no action on this one issue?
BTW, if you want to add Clip Markers to clips in the Timeline, you can set a keyboard shortcut for that.
