Cloning an 9.0.4.2 Environment

Good Morning. Looking for some help with a clone environment. What I have is two servers on Solaris 9. One is a webcache reverse proxy and the other is my mid tier/infra/repository. I have made a flar of both servers and put them on two identical boxes by themselves on their own network. I'm having problems getting the sso to come up on the infrastructure and the portal on the mid tier. When looking at a log file /opt/oracle/OraInfra_904/opmn/logs/<instance_name>
Every time I try to start the processes for the infrastructure I get a new entry in this log. It states the following:
07/09/12 12:17:33 Dependency check
Error - ORA-28000: the account is locked
asdb is available
SUCCEEDED
I'd like to know if this is normal if the locked acct might be my reason for not being able to bring up SSO?

Hi Aron,
Are the 9.0.4.2 and 10g CSDKs interoperable with both
9.0.4.2 and 10g servers?The answer is yes!
csdk 9042 is interoperable with 9042 and 10g servers.
csdk 10g is interoperable with 9042 and 10g servers.
(** Note: some restrictions apply to new features of the 10g sdk.For example, we introduced ATTACHMENT support in 10g Sdk, but the support is only activated when connected to a 10g server.)
Specifically, where does one find a discussion of
known issues when using the 9.0.4.2 CSDK to access a
10g server, or vice versa?Calendar Sdk Development has currently no such discussion. It has been discussed to have such a document and we will sure consider making one available. (**) above would be the kind of information contained in this document. Is it what you had in mind?
In a similar vein, is there documentation covering
what code changes developers need to make, if any,
when migrating from the 9.0.4.2 to the 10g CSDK?The 10g Dev Guide should be sufficient documentation, it contains all the information on calendar sdk's usage and it's new features.

Jean-Philippe

  • When is Cloning the DB required in Development environment?

I have worked for DEV, QA teams, but they only need Schema refereshes(expdp/impdp). In OTN I always read threads about DB cloning for Development teams . When is a DB cloning actually needed for Development teams?

It's needed when you want to ensure that you have an exact copy, both physical and logical, of an environment. This is good for development environments because it provides more assurance that performance in development will accurately reflect performance in production.

  • Cloning 9iAS production instance on test environment

    Hi,
We have a running 9iAS portal(9.0.2.6.18) in production. We want to clone the instance on to a Staging environment. Is this possibe? If yes kindly provide the documentation link.
    Thanks in advance

<p>You may want to check the cloning note on Metalink. It contains useful information about the methods available to clone a portal environment.

  • Cloning complete installation to a different environment

    Hi,
We have a Production and a QA environment. We use Windows Backup to make complete system backups of all Hyperion servers. This backups strategy has been tested by breaking QA and requesting a restore from IT.
Business now asked the question: Is it possible to restore the Production backup onto the QA servers? From a business point of view the question makes sense, since a restore like this will only take 2 hours and you would have a clone of Production on QA.
Once the Production backup is restored, it will obviously be looking for the Productio IP's if you start it up.
My question is: Will it be possible to reconfigure the QA environment, after the PD backup was restored on it, to point it to the QA IP's instead?
Also, if this is at all possible, will Oracle have problems in supporting an environment like this?
(Verison 11.1.2.1 on Windows 2008 x64 with MSSQL Server)

    Hi user3641156,
    Thanks for the reply.
Can you maybe clarify what you mean by "it will be equal to a fresh install/config"?
Do you mean on the database side? Will I need to configure Shared Services as a "first time" and not as a previously configured db?
Do you maybe have an answer for my other question: Will Oracle have any issue in supporting an environment that was created like this? (Although I don't see why not).

  • "The java class is not found:"  during cloning

    Hi.
I've just cloned an 11.5.10.2 environment from one AIX5.2 server running 9.2.0.7 to another server at the same AIX and RDBMS level.
After running the clone steps, the application was automatically started and I was able to access it via Self Service, forms, run concurrent requests etc - in short, I had a working system.
Now, however, when I try to stop or start the application using adstrtal.sh/adstpall.sh, I hit the following:
"The java class is not found: oracle/apps/ad/autoconfig/ServiceControl
    Check logfile /data/testcomn/admin/log/TEST_ireaix2/05011011.log for details"
On the command line, when I call the line the script is trying to execute:
    /usr/java14/bin/java -classpath "${CLASSPATH}:${JAVA_TOP}:${FND_TOP}/java/3rdparty/stdalone/xmlparserv2.zip" oracle.apps.ad.autoconfig.ServiceControl -e /oracle/testappl/admin/TEST_ireaix2.xml -u apps/starl1ght -m 2 -l yadda –debug
I'm able to bypass this particular error and some of the application processes do start but not all of them and obviously I still have an underlying Java/environment issue.
    Any suggestions gratefully received.

May be you should try posting this on an appropriate forum to get a speedier response.

  • Can I update the number of processes, cache etc per workshift via backend

    Hi everyone,
after cloning from PROD to a TEST environment, i'd like to be able to reduce the number of concurrent processes and the cache size
for the standard manager to a lower number.
Most of my post cloning steps are automated through a script, and I wondered if I can make this change through the backend as well ?
    Thanks for your help.

    Hi,
Did you try to change these two parameters from the application and see if it works?
Yes Hussein, this is how I do it at the moment, manually through the application, and this works
Did you verify the value of MIN_PROCESSES and SLEEP_SECONDS columns for this manager in FND_CONCURRENT_QUEUE_SIZE table?
When changed through the application, yes, these values are changed.
I want to do this through the back end to automate the process. When I try manually updating the table, only the cach_size "works" in that
it gets changed (and shows on the Concurrent - Administer screen) and stays changed in the table.
The other values seem to get changed back in the table by some process and therefore do not get changed, even if I stop the ICM, make the change in the table, and the restart the managers.
    Any idea why ?
    Thanks

As this is not a fully supported procedure, you will not find much documentation on this. Oracle Applications User Group (OAUG), http://www.oaug.com , has about 4 white papers on this topic, however each one is missing steps that need to be done. The papers will provide a great starting point though and also provide the author names that mayber you could contact.

    Hi Kamran,
the reason for cloning the database to other server is virtualization of the production server. the database is temporarily placed in second server. so that no down time for the users.
thanksTo cloning suggestion way is using RMAN.Also you can use User Managed backup and Recovery option. You can perform below steps(your database actually running in archivelog mode and you can take user managed HOT backup)
1). Identify all datafiles from v$datafile.name column.
    2) Connect SYS AS SYSDBA and execute ALTER DATABASE BEGIN BACKUP
    3) Using OS copy command copy/transfer all data files to other place/server
    4) And from sqlplus ALTER DATABASE END BACKUP.
    5) ALTER DATABASE BACKUP CONTROLFILE TO TRACE AS 'LoCATION' (like 'c:\cont.txt');
Then restore all datafiles(and archivelogs also) to new server and STARTUP NOMOUNT then execute above controlfile recreate script(c:\cont.txt) and execute through sqlplus RECOVER DATABASE USING BACKUP CONTROLFILE UNTIL CANCEL then apply all available archivelogs then finally ALTER DATABASE OPEN RESETLOGS.

  • Cloning a test CMS from a Production environment - process?

Hi there - I am attempting to clone a test environment from a production CMS system database.
    ENVIRONMENT
    BO Version: XI3.1
    O/S: Linux
    Web Server: JBOSS 4.3
    Database platform: Oracle 10g
    BOXI SETUP
    1. BOXI environment type on Production (clustered with two nodes.)
*. Linux servernames for each BOXI node=Prod100 and Prod 101.
*. JBOSS ports on both nodes=15000. CMS port on both nodes=6400.
    *. Database Sid=BOCMS@PROD
    2. BOXI environment type on Perf (clustered with two nodes)
*. Linux servernames for each BOXI node=Perf100 and Perf 101.
*. JBOSS ports on both nodes=15100.
*. CMS port on both nodes=6400.
    *. Database Sid=BOCMS@PERF
    Process and requirement
For each project, as part of performance testing, we copy the production database (CMS / system database) in order to clone it. The idea is that we have a copy of production which we can then use for performance testing. We do not need to rebuild the BOXI 3.1 server (that remains there), but we need to rebuild system database. In version five we would copy the BO_REPADMIN schema into the PERF database and then change the connections in Supervisor. Can this process also be done in XIR3.1 ?
    Options considered so far
    1. The DBAs recommended just copying the BOXI CMS / System Database tables from PROD to the PERF database. My question is - don't we then need to change the settings in the CMS database (PERF) to somehow so point to the correct physical servers / correct SIA etc.? Could I just alter th FRS references and use the cmsdbsetup.sh to alter all the details or are there other steps required (manally altering ccm.config) ?
    2. Copying the CMS from the PROD to the PERF CMS schema. However it seems like this is not an option as the Admin guides stipulates:
"However, you cannot change the BusinessObjects Enterprise installation path, operating system, and machine name"
As the installation path for the BOXI performance environment is different to production and they reside on different physical machines it sounds to me that this isn't an option, right?
    3. Use the cmsdbsetup.sh script - create a blank new CMS on the PERF database then migrate all production objects from PROD to PERF using the Import Wizard.
Could anyone recommend further options? Thanks in advance.

    Hi;
Can any one explain the detaild process about Operating level snapshot to prepare a test setup from a production databaseMainly; We are using IBM disk and our disk team take snapshot of disk and we can work on those snapshot than storage team again revert back system orginal state.
As you can see its performed by storage team contact wiht your vendor.
If you dont have storage team than I suggest see my below post:
