Close config data.vi changes comment lines

When using the "close config data.vi" with write config file set to true, I get ="" appended to comment lines, like
; this is a comment line
changes to
; this is a comment line=""
Does LV6.1 not support comment lines or does it use a different character?

This is a problem of the close config vi.
The vi gets all keys (keys are the values before =) and the values (behind
=). When the data is stored, the vi puts 'key'='value' in a string for each
line.
When a empty line is encountered, this happens. The key is ''. The value is
''. The output result is ="", because empty values, and values with spaces
in them are contained between quotes.
When '; comment' is encountered, the key is ';comment', the value is '', the
result is ;comment="".
You'll have to modify a very low level sub vi inside close config.vi to
resolve this. The problem has been there since lv supports .ini files.

Wiebe.

• Why "write configuration file (T)" on Close Config Data vi?

If I open a config file refnum, write to one of its sections, then close the config refnum and have "write to configuration file (T)" set to FALSE, does the config file revert back to what it was when the refnum was first opened? In other words, the write to section vi essentially has no effect?
If this is not the case, what is the purpose/function of the "write to configuration file (T)" on the close config data vi?
Thanks,
Greg

The write VIs for the configuration set of VIs don't actually write anything to file - they write to a software buffer. If you open the write VIs you will see that essentially a "functional global", aka LV2-style global, aka Action Engine, is being used (albeit in a bit of a mess in my opinion). Thus, you need to set the input to True when closing it. That's what actually writes to disk. You would want to set that to False if you're just opening the file for reading.

• Content of Ini-File with config-data sometimes deleted?

Hello,
i have a simple vi attached where i read config-data from a file.
Sometimes it happens that the content is lost. I am not sure why, but perhaps there a errors in the vi.
I wonder about the last vi "Close Config Data" there is an onput-parameter "write configuration file? (T)".
Why is this parameter set to default-TRUE? Could it be that i shouzld set it to False? Perhaps this
close-vi overwrite my data with nothing.
The vi reads the section [Par1] from this file:
[Par1]
PathFile=C:\\profile.txt
[Par2]
PathFile=C:\\variants.txt
and returns --> C:\\profile.txt
Thx for your help

The values set by using the INI file functions only exist in memory and are NOT written to disk until the "Close" VI with the constant set TRUE.
If your code executes in multiple threads where one thread sets the values but another thread closes the file without the constant set true, the values will be removed from memory and will not be written to disk.
So make sure you only execute the "Close" after all values have been set and make sure the constant is set true when the files are closed.

• Schedule line : delivery date not changes

Dear Gurus,
When I change delivery date change in delivery documents and sales documents, picking date, pricing date, etc.. changes, but in sales document, schedule line's delivery date does not changes.
Please help me to change the same and kindly tell me, will it make any problem.
fyi..
If I have not created delivery for the respective sales document, then I can able to change the delivery date in the schedule line(sales document).
I'm just a new born in this area so please feed me...
Regards
Viswanthan.G

Hi Viswanath,
When you change delivery date change in delivery documents and sales documents, picking date, pricing date, etc.. changes, but in sales document, schedule line's delivery date does not changes.
This is because the system calculates the dates based on avaliabiltiy check and it picks data from material master as well, based on purchasing processing time, GR processing time, loading time ..etc and it will conclude accordingly.
Its like system will do backward schdeuling and establishes material avaliabilty date.

• How to Check Creation/Change data for PO Service Line item

Hi, I was wondering what field(s) from what table(s) I would have to check if I wanted a report to look for the creation or chnaged date of a specific service item in a PO?
Currently it is using the EKPO-AEDAT field to check if a PO line item has been changed, but I would like to narrow it down to just some service line items instead of capturing all the service lines in a recently changed PO line item.
Thank you very much in advance for the advice!

Hi Rashid, thanks for the advice, but it doesn't really solve my problem.
What I want to know is if there is a field where the date of a service item was created in a PO line item is stored, so that an ABAP report can be written to retrieve newly created service items from POs.

• Step wise config data for schedule line agreements

DEar All,
I need urgently one the foolowing doc:
step wise config data for schedule line agreements.
thanks
regards,
s KUMAR

Hi,
1) Scheduling Agreement is a long term agreement and PO is normally a one-off. When you have long term relation with supplier you will go with SA.
2) SA need not have delivery schedules at the time of ordering. It's like a contract with vendor for all basic prices, quantities & terms. You will release schedules as & when required. This method is very popular with manufacturing ind (e.g. automotive) where they negotiate prices but delivery schedules are given periodically based on their actual production/sales demands.
3) In a PO, you must give schedules in PO itself.
4) If you know contract & release order (or call-off) concept, then SA is like contract and SA schedule is like release order. PO is release order.
or
While using schedule agreement, you will create delivery schedule, when ever you require materials.
Firm and trade off zone in delivery schedule details will be forwarded to your vendor. you can create daily , weekly , monthly schedule lines
Example : if you have created a schedule agreement for product " A " for quantity 1000, and you require material of 100 nos in the first month, you can create schedule line for this 100 only and this will be transmitted to vendor( if you are using LPA you have to release schedule line). when ever you require further qty based on your requirement you will create another delivery schedule line, then it will be transmited to vendor.
In case of PO if you are ordering 1000 qty , you need to specify the delivery date in Purchase order it self, and all the dates are immediately transmited to vendor along with Purchase order.
For configuration steps please follow

• Data Point Symbol in Line Graph - can you change the size?

I would like to change the Data Point Symbols in line graphs - if not the actual symbol it would be wonderful to be able to change the size of the symbols provided.
At present, if there is a lot of data in the graph, the symbols are too big and crowd one another.
I know that one can reduce the line size but that doesn't change the symbol size.
Help please.

If I understand your question, this from the Pages online help may give the answer:
To mark line, area, and scatter charts with data point symbols:
Select the entire chart. You can also select the chart series (the line or area shape) that you want to mark with data point symbols.
Click Inspector in the toolbar, and then click the Chart Inspector button.
Click Series (except for scatter charts).
Choose a symbol from the Data Point Symbol pop-up menu.
Choose one of the following options from the Symbol Fill pop-up menu:
To fill the symbol with the same color as its outline, choose Use Stroke Color.
To fill the symbol with a solid color, choose Color Fill, click the Fill color well, and pick a color.
To fill the symbol with a gradient, choose Gradient Fill and use the gradient controls to set the colors and change the angle of the gradient.
To fill the symbol with an image, choose Image Fill and select the image you want. You can also resize the image by choosing an option from the pop-up menu above the Choose button.
To fill the symbol with a tinted image, choose Tinted Image Fill and select the image you want. Click the color well to the right of the Choose button to change the tint color. You can also resize the image by choosing an option from the pop-up menu above the Choose button.

• Schedle line confirmation date is changing to shorter confirmation date

Hi friends,
The confirmed date in the schedule line is not in line with the planned
delivery time maintained in MMR.
When sales order with free of charge document type is created, the
confirmed schedule line is in line with planned del time for a material
of item category ZPTN-free of charge Purchase to order. After coverting
PR to PO the confirmed schedule line had been changed to earlier date
which is not in line with the planned delivery time in MMR.
Please provide your expert views and suggestions..
With warm regards
Jana

hello, friend.
please check if your purchase requisition has been configured for processing time. then check if the purchase requisition was converted to purchase order within the processing time specified, if any.
regards.

• PO issue :What should we do to close the PO or change item quantity?

Hi Everyone,
I am new to MM.I got an issue saying that there is some mismatch with quantity in the particular PO. User wants to cancel/close the PO system but it is not allowing to do so. To change the quantity is also good, but while trying to change item quantity system is giving the following error message.
Quantity 1000 is smaller than quantity issued 2000.
To close the PO or change item quantity what should I need to do?
A help will be highly appreciated
Regards,
sharon.

Hi,
It is of the standard functionality of SAP to verify the GR and IR against PO quantity when you try to close your related PO line item. It ensures data consistency for your PO and PO history. What you should do is very much subject to the status of your PO history (i.e. how many you have already GRed and/or IRed). Check it again in your PO history tab of the PO item details level prior to making any further action on how your PO line item quantity shall be adjusted. A particular example is if GR was done for the quantity of 2,000, you can't simply adjust your PO quantity into 1,000 as it goes against the logic whereby the GR quantity (and/or IR quantity) must be no larger than PO quantity.
Cheers,
HT

• Config data refnums invalidated by for loop

I have found the following problem with LabVIEW 7.0. This only occurs when running the application as built with the application builder and does not appear to be a problem in the development environment.
Given an open refnum for a config file one can loop through several read key operations while passing the data and the refnum to outputs on the for loop. If you disable indexing on the refnum output of the for loop you should get a usable refnum out. What happens instead when you try to close the refnum is an error indicating that the refnum is invalid. If you simply route the refnum around the loop avoiding the for loop output altogether this doesn't happen. It appears that somehow, going through the indexing output of the f
or loop invalidates or changes the refnum when in a built application using the runtime.
If anyone can reproduce this or prove me wrong it would be helpful. This bug cost me days of chasing down why my "major app" would only work when in development but fail when built. The lack of debug capability in a built app of course leant to the effort that it took to track this down.
Thanks,

Hello, i'm french so scuse for my writting...
I don't find where put this question so i writte here.
I want to do a soft who's objective is to writte config data (open config data + write key + close..).
you can find it in the join piece.
this soft run correctly but when i do an exe with the application builder, when i try to run the exe, that saying me error 7 about the Nex file in Open config data...

• Small window changes in line printer

We are using a line printer EPSON FX-980. We are using sapscripts to print.
We are printing in a not so flexible format. We have the formats already pre-printed and we need to make small changes to adjust the output.
Almost everything is alright, except some variables that cross some pre-printed lines.
We only need to move a window aprox. 1mm down to adjust the exit.
However, when we try to make small changes, the windows jumps a whole line, not like laser printer that adjust to fractions.
For example, my problematic windows is in 28 ln. No matter if I change it to 28,01 or 28,5, the widow jumps to 29ln.
I tough it was the printer couldn't print small details, but I drew several lines with small spaces between in ms paint and it prints them fine. So I'm guessing is the driver.
I already used the two drivers for line printers, also changed the device type line lenght and nothing has been resolved.
Is there a way to do this?

hi,
Modifying the SWIN (SAPWIN) Device Type
The SWIN device type allows you to use any printer or fax that the Microsoft Windows Print Manager can use, regardless of whether the SAP R/3 System has a device type for the corresponding device. In this case, it is actually the Microsoft Windows Print Manager and Windows driver that format a document and make an output-ready data stream out of it.
Modifying SWIN is a little different than working on other device types because SWIN does not deliver an output-ready data stream. Rather, it converts the internal SAP R/3 document format into a special SAP R/3 formatting language. The SAPSprint service understands this formatting language. SAPSprint, in turn, converts the SAP R/3 formatting commands into Microsoft Windows GDI commands, which the Print Manager and the Microsoft Windows device driver can use for preparing print-ready output data.
The upshot: rather than modifying printer commands in actions and print controls, in SWIN you need to work with SAP R/3 formatting commands. The SWIN formatting language is documented in this section.
SWIN Device Format Actions
With SAPscript formats, SWIN does not use the Printer initialization or Reset actions. Enter a comment line -- # Not used -- in these two actions in the SAPscript device formats in your copy of SWIN. This ensures that the actions will be ignored when they are called during output. SWIN list formats do use the Printer initialization and Reset actions.
In your copy of SWIN, insert commands only in the device type format actions that the SAP R/3 standard device type SWIN uses.
Frequently Made Changes to SWIN
● Adjusting the position of output on the paper.
In a SAPscript form definition, positioning information refers to the absolute dimensions of the paper to be used for outputting the form. However, the position information in SAPscript forms is added to the coordinates system of the target output device during execution to determine where the form objects are to appear on the output page.
Since output devices use different origins for their coordinate systems, this means that SAPscript and the spool system must offer a way to adjust form positionings to reflect the coordinate system used by an output device.
You can adapt your forms to the differing coordinate systems of output devices in the device definition, where individual printers and fax machines are made known to the SAP R/3 spool system.
Set the fields: Choose Tools ® CCMS ® Spool ® Spool Administration, change the corresponding output device, and switch to the Output Attributes tab page. There, you can set the horizontal positioning in Horizontal move, the vertical positioning in Vertical shift. Positive values (> 0) move the output down or to the right. Negative values in the format xxx move the output up or to the left. No decimal values are permitted. For fine positioning, use MM (millimeters) or PT (points, 10 points / inch).
If a window in a form definition is to appear 1 cm from the left edge of the paper, the window will actually be printed 1.5 cm from the left edge of the paper on a Hewlett-Packard LaserJet printer. The LaserJet starts its X-axis coordinate system 0.5 centimeter from the left edge of the paper. On a PostScript printer, on the other hand, the window will start 1 cm from the left edge of the paper, because PostScript uses the physical boundaries of the paper for its coordinate system.
You can adjust the positioning of the output on the HPLJ4 (LaserJet) printer by entering -5 MM in the Horizontal move field in the second screen of the device definition of each HPLJ4 printer.
● Setting Basic List Print Properties: Character pitch, line leading, type size.
To make these adjustments, you need to change the Printer initialization action in the X_ formats in your copy of the SWIN device type.
There, you can adjust the character pitch (character spacing), leading (line spacing), and type size with the following commands:
Property
SWIN Formatting Command to Use
Character pitch
ec is the type size in twips (20 twips = 1 point).
For example: eS200X sets the type size to 10 points (200 twips / 20 = 10 points).
The SWIN data stream protocol is an internal SAP R/3 format that may change without prior notice. SAP intends to make only upwardly compatible changes to the SWIN protocol. That means that you should always be able to use the newest version of SAPSPrint, even if you have not upgraded your SAP R/3 System itself.
SAP guarantees, however, only that the SWIN device type will function correctly with the development level of the SAPSPrint transfer program that is specified for a particular SAP R/3 Release.
SAP Printing Guide (BC-CCM-PRN)
Implementation considerations
The SAP Printing Guide describes the functions of the SAP Spool System. This system was designed to be used on various platforms. SAP provides its own spool service and a spool database so that users do not have to deal with operating system-specific issues.
The platform-independent SAP spool system is responsible for the output of forms and documents. The data to be printed is first temporarily stored (“spooled”), then formatted, and finally transferred to a host spool system to be output. You can control all of your output from the SAP System and do not need to arrange further processing in the host spool system.
The following are among the main tasks of the SAP spool system:
· Processing and managing print requests
· Administering output devices
· Technical mapping of the output devices in the SAP System
Features
Among other things, the SAP Printing Guide describes the following:
· Print Process in General
An introduction for users and administrators, in which the print process from document to printout is explained in general.
The focus of the introductory sections is the Output Controller (transaction SP01), which can be used by both administrators and users to manage print requests.
· Spool Access Authorizations
This sections and its subsections describe the access authorizations required specifically for the spool system.
· Possible Print Architecture and Print Methods
The various print architectures are described in this section and its subsections, that is, the different constellations of hardware and software components with the corresponding access methods: Each architecture also requires a specific print method, such as:
· Local printing: The spool server (application server with a spool work process) and host spool system (operating system spooler) are on the same host.
· Remote printing: The spool server and the host spool system are on different hosts.
· Frontend printing: Print data are to be printed on the default printer of the user’s PC.
· Printing using SAP GUI for HTML
· Output Devices in the SAP Spool System
Output devices must be defined in the SAP System so that they can be addressed from the SAP System.
You do this using device definitions with which the devices are managed in the SAP System.
This link takes you to a description of these device definitions and their printer settings.
· Spool Server
This section explains what a spool server is, how you define it, and what using logical servers and alternative servers involves.
· Device Types for SAP Output Devices
Device types are explained in this section. A device type in the SAP system is the category of printer to be addressed. The information in the device type, such as font selection, page size, and character set selection is used to convert a document from the internal SAP format to a device-specific, printable data stream.
· Connecting to an External Output Management System (OMS)
This section explains how you can connect the SAP spool system to an external Output Management System.
· Maintaining the Spool Database
This link takes you to a section explaining how you maintain your spool database to ensure optimal performance.
· TemSe Database Storage
This section and its subsections explain what TemSe is and how you can manage TemSe objects.
· Analyzing Printing Problems
This link takes you to examples that will provide you with support in identifying and correcting errors
Printing from the SAP System
Features
Using the SAP output system, you can output many types of documents on output devices such as printers or fax machines: purchase orders, invoices, delivery note, payroll documents, e-mails, report lists, and so on.
Process Flow
Unlike most other programs, which forward print requests directly to the printer, the SAP System temporarily stores the print data. If you want to print data in an SAP System (online or in the background) and choose a print function, such as , the SAP output system creates two types of print requests:
1. a spool request, which temporarily stores the data to be printed in the system
2. an output request, which sends the data to the desired output device
If you want your document to be printed immediately on your printer without temporary storage, you must have made a setting in the print window for immediate output. In this case, the spool request and output request are generated immediately, and the data is printed.
If you want to temporarily store the data, do not choose print out immediately. You can display the temporarily stored print request (spool request) in the output controller and/or print it at a later time
thanks

• How to insert data into a table only when data has changed its value (when compared to the previous inserted value)

I wish to insert data into a table only when the value of the inserted data has changed. Thus, in a time series, if the value of the data at time, t-1, is 206 then if the data to be inserted at time t is 206, then it is skipped (not entered).
If the value of the data at time t+1 is 206, it is skipped also; until the value changes, so if the value at t+1 was 205, then that would be inserted, and if at time t+2 the data is 206, it would be inserted too.
What is the best way to do it without increasing overheads?

This view works:
SELECT
i.IDNO,i.[Date],i.[Level]
FROM
mytable i
INNER
JOIN mytable
d
ON
d.IDNO
= i.IDNO-1
WHERE
i.[Level]
<> d.[Level]
on this mytable below. A trigger could be quite useful here although I am cautious using them. However I wish to avoid the overhead by not having a temp table (which could be sizable). mytable below
should give 3 lines. The IDNO is an identity column.
