Closing reports window crashes forms

Hi,
webforms/reports 6i patch 16 (6.0.8.25)
using web.show_document('reports url','_BLANK');
to fire a new report
problem:
if the browser window is closed before the report pdf is displayed, it will crash the (parent) forms session w/ FRM-92100 or similar...
reproducible all the time w/ patch levels ranging from 10 to 16 and both IE 6.0 and Netscape 7 using Jinitiator 1.3.X
Any clues would be much appreciated...
Thanks/
Regards,
Arpad

Frank,
Thanks for your suggestion.
It does reproduce w/ Netscape 7 as well.
The workaround is to use cgi instead of servlet for reports url
I'm not sure what are the implications of the workaround though...
Please comment on cgi vs servlet for reports on a large deployment w/ multiple 9iAS servers.
Thanks,
Arpad

  • Closing browser window when form is closed

    Thanks, Michael.  I agree about exit_form.
    I want the second browser to block the first set of forms running in the first browser because it's a dataflow requirement - user goes from Form A to Form B, must complete their work in Form B before returning to Form A.  So I'm actually happy that webutil_host.host freezes Form A.  I don't want to use non-blocking because this would let the user back in Form A before they were done with Form B (and would potentially leave a lot of browser windows open).  I did initally try web.show_document but that was non-blocking.
    Normally, I would use a call_form in this scenario, but I have to log into a second database (for security reasons) for the user to complete their task in Form B, and if I use a call_form and then want to log into a second database, I have to log out of my first one (which causes me to lose all sorts of global variables and session variables), log into the second, and then log back into the first (and I don't get my globals or session variables back in that case).  So, I am keeping Session 1 alive in Form A, calling Form B and starting Session 2 against a second database, and then closing Session 2 and Form B and returning to Session1 (which is still open)and Form A.  Is there is a better way to do thise, please let me know.  (Mind you, this all worked very well in client/server mode - funny how the older tools can be more straightforward.)
    And yes, I agree that we are using an old OAS (OAS10gR1).  I have been suggesting an upgrade but am being told that it would require too much effort.  We have 200 forms and upgrading them to work with the newer OAS is something I have been told we cannot do.  If it doesn't require a forms upgrade (beyond open in new builder, save, and close), then I might have some luck making it happen, but everyone seems to think it does require more work than that.  If that is not true, please let me know.  I think that would solve a lot of our problems.

  • Long parameter list in report call crashes forms

    Hi,
    I'm using Forms6i (client server) to call a report. The report has 15 parameters. I concat all the parameter into a string l_parameter_string, then call SET_REPORT_OBJECT_PROPERTY(l_report_object, REPORT_OTHER,l_other_parameters);
    The report runs successfully, but when I close the report,forms crashes. This error seems to occur when the lenght of l_parameter_string > 160 chars, if the length of l_parameter_string < 160, the problem does not occur.
    Has anyone come across a limitation on the length of a parameter string for calling a report,
    thanks in advance

    Parameter List pl_id cannot be sent in url as you are saying,
    rather
    you have to sent each parameter separately, with parameter name that must be defined at report.
    e.g.
    http://testserver:9002/reports/rwservlet?destype=cache&desformat=html&paramform=yes&report=\\testserver\forms\L00000001.rdf&userid=globe/oracle@globe&repserver=RptSvr_globe_asinst_1&p_val1=1243&p_val2=8987
    In above url
    p_val1 and p_val2 must be defined in your report to capture the data coming from Calling Form or Report.
    Hope this will resolve your problem.

  • Help!! Closing browser window when form closes

    We have migrated from forms 5.0 to Forms 6i, running the forms on FormsServer 6. When I click on the exit button which executes exit_form, the applet window area clears and the browser window remains open. Is there a technique to close the browser window?
    Thanks in advance,

    Hi there,
    Write a Post-Form trigger with the following line of code:
    Web.Show_Document('teclose.html','_self');
    The code for teclose.htm is as follows:
    <html>
    <body onload="closeit()">
    <script>
    function closeit()
    window.close();
    </script>
    </body>
    </html>
    Don't forget to include the path in web.show_document to access the teclose.htm. See the
    help on web.show_document in forms help.
    Hope that will solve your problem.
    Thanks

  • I have a windows crash report for a hang that did not generate a crash reporter item. Is there anything I should do with it?

    Thunderbird crashed, or at least hung. Closed the program using task manager and windows generated a crash report. Crash reporter did not. Is there anything I should do with this, or does Microsoft send them on to Mozilla?

    That looks like a problem with a plugin, probably Flash.<br />
    The first report has a Flash signature and the second report also is plugin related.<br />
    Those reports are older (Jan 15).
    Do you have any more recent reports?

  • Crystal Report Windows Forms Viewer Error in 1 Workstation after upgrade of PL

    Hi all,
    We just upgraded SAP from 8.82 PL02 to 8.82 PL15.
    Afterwards, in just 1 workstation, Crystal Reports layouts have Crystal Report Windows Forms Viewer error I attach.
    Before the upgrade this error did not happen.
    No permissions or authorizations were changed  in the workstation.
    The Crystal Reports layouts remain working fine in server and in the other workstations.
    In the workstation following are installed:
    - Operating System Windows 7;
    - Microsoft .NET Framework 4.5;
    - SAP Crystal Reports runtime engine for. NET Framework;
    - Crystal Report 2008 Runtime SP6;
    - Microsoft SQL Server 2008 R2 Native Client.
    All, but the operating system, are equal to the other workstations.
    User has edit access to SAP folders, temp and access to the attach path.
    We already uninstalled SAP client and client agent and re-installed it but with no avail.
    Can anyone help me?
    Thanks in advance.

  • Firefox was working fine in the morning, after half a day, it just crashed and now every time i try to start FF it crashes, i reinstalled FF, even tryed FF 4 beta, every time same crash report window, and nothing happens.

    After a half day working normally, FF just crashed, and now i reinstall it, even tryed FF 4 beta, and still getting crash report. Cant even start in safe mode, same crash report window pop up.
    Checked for viruses, malwares. Nothing helped.

    Other applications print okay? If so, try deleting the Preview .plist
    You need to look in your user Library/Preferences for the .plist. Hold down the option key while using the Finder "Go To Folder" command. Enter ~`/Library. Delete the .plist(s) for the application.
    If you prefer to make your user library permanently visible, use the Terminal command found below. It does work with Mountain Lion:
    http://osxdaily.com/2011/07/22/access-user-library-folder-in-os-x-lion/
    You might want to bookmark the command. I had to use it again after I installed 10.8.2. I have also been informed that if you drag the user library to Finder it will remain visible.

  • I'm getting popup notices that Firefox has a problem, and Windows is looking for a solution; then it closes Firefox and says Windows will let me know if it finds a solution. No crash report window comes up.

    Firefox is my default browser on my new laptop, with OS Windows 7. I've now had several instances where a Windows popup comes up saying Firefox has developed a problem and may have to close. It also indicates Windows "is looking for a solution to the problem." No solution is found, however, and Firefox is forced to close, with the happy notice that Windows will let me know if it finds a solution to the problem. If there is any tech data on the crash, I'm not sure where to find it, and no Firefox crash report window comes up. I thought it was an anomaly the first time, but this has now occurred at least 4 times in the past several days.

  • Hacking into the form values file to retrieve a post after closing a window

    Okay, I'd just finished editing and re-editing a very long post and was doublechecking some of the links when I inadvertedly closed the entire window instead of merely closing the tabbed page I'd brought the new link up on to test it.
    I poked around and found a long binary file called "Form Values" in library/safari directory and I would just bet this has my full post in it. I copied it to the desktop because I had a feeling that if I opened another form with Safari, the info would be rewritten and lost forever. So I do have a safety copy now.
    Anyone have any idea at all how I could retrieve that information, and convert it from binary back into text form so I would not have to spend another two hours remembering and rewriting the post?
    Or a way of getting Safari to recognize it and read it into a new post form?
    Boy, recovering data with a menu item like "undo close window" or a reopen sure would be a nice feature... I bet I'm not the only person that's done this.
    THANKS!!

    I just downloaded Hex Editor and gave myself a trip down memory lane (hadn't used one of these editors since my DOS days). Anyway, as I expected, it looks like the Form Values file is encrypted - there are no recognizable text strings to extract. In any case, this file contains the data you used to fill out forms at particular sites, it does not carry the entire page or form.
    You could try Retrospective to see if you can find the page with the form in Safari's cache. If you do find it, the form could be filled out as when you closed the window or it could be blank as when it was last loaded into Safari - I don't know which because I haven't searched the cache with this puspose in mind before.

  • How do I get past the Mozilla Crash Reporter window?

    I cannot get Firefox to work. Every time I open it a Mozilla Crash Reporter window opens up with the options to Restart or Quit Firefox. Neither of these work.

  • Crystal Report Windows Forms Viewer problems - table could not be found

    Hi,
    I installed Crystal Report Viewer in SAP Business One 2007. All the while, I can run the reports without any problem. but when I loaded some of the new report, it gives me the following error message:
    the caption says: "Crystal Reports Windows Forms Viewer"
    the message says: "The table 'paymentVoucher' could not be found.
    Error in file C:\...paymentVoucher.rpt. The table could not be found."
    By the way, I can run the report in another workstation.
    Any help or ideas of why this is happening or how to solve this will be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks in advance.

    The report is not created by me. I just help others to transfer the report from one workstation to another workstation. PaymentVoucher is a view in the database and it is being put at a workstation that can be shared by everyone.
    I've go through other forums and found out that it might be permission issues and now managed to solve the problem already.
    Thanks everyone for the advice.

  • Close report window when exit form

    Hi all,
    I successfully use Forms 10g to call a report with web.show document.

  • Firefox 5.0 crashed, sent "send crash report" window; window stuck

    Firefox crashed, sent "send crash report" window. Now every time I click on the Firefox icon to start Firefox, the crash report window comes up instead of starting Firefox. Firefox won't open.

    Hello. I have a similar problem to the question of Ryan Vaught, (Firefox crashes upon open - won't send crash report; crash report info summarized below [MY] Firefox version: prior one to 3.6.7 Operating System: Windows XP Provessional). Mine is a bit different tho. Firefox seems to be crashing and my internet crashes right with it. When it does this, it also takes out some Win32 system .exe files. I too have ran AVG (Full Coverage /Purchased one) and then updated to Viper (Sunbelt Software) and it comes up clean of any viruses, etc. Once it crashes and I close Firefox, the crash report request comes up. When I hit send, it says it cannot be sent with no additional information as to why. I just updated Firefox to 3.6.7 and sure hope this helps, but it almost always happens when I am playing games that use flash. I can send a screenshot if you need it and feel free to edit my question if need be. I've checked my Viper settings and can get to all the websites so far trying to rule it out. Deleted my internet set up and then added it back as a new connection (hope that made sense), so I don't know who to be asking this question of, but hoping you may know the answer why I can't send the crash report. Whew! Sorry for the lengthy question/issue. Your help is greatly appreciated!! Carolyn Burnam

  • All SDK files crash when started  (errors generated and closed by windows)

    Every time I try to start a java program in SDK 1.4 through windows or through dos, it gives me an error approximate to:
    Javac.exe has created erros and will be closed by windows.
    An error log has been created.
    This happens EVERY time, and I was wondering if there was a way to fix it ><
    I'm running windows 2000

    If the error log says anything meaningful, do what it indicates. Otherwise, deinstall and reinstall Java. If that doesn't fix the problem download a new copy (verify the file size, see the Installation Instructions) and install that.
