Cluster synchronization monitor

Helo all,
I have successfully clustered several CQ5.5 (CRX 2.3) instances.  I would like to monitor all nodes to ensure they are in sync.  How do you do this?  In-other-words, if a cluster node were to become, say, 10-15 minutes out of sync with the master, how would you know?
I see a ClusterNodeRevision property in MBean com.adobe.granite:type=Repository.  This seems like a type of sequence number.  Is it safe to assume that ClusterNodeRevision will always increase?  If so, we could check to see if ClusterNodeRevision was, say, within 100000 of the master.
What are you doing to ensure your cluster nodes stay in sync?
Thanks,
Jeffrey

Hi Tim ,
Sorry for asking too too many questions. I has searched the internet for CMM, before posting. Most of the searches giving the decription about CMM and its function. But, there is no answer for my question.
If CMM is a kernel module then, modinfo should retrun the name of CMM module. But the output does not show the CMM module.
My Question is
Where is CMM running?
Is there any daemon for that, if it is a daemon, then what is the daemon name.
How to start CMM if it is stopped.
Regards,
R. Rajesh Kannan.

    Hi,
The GUI (released only to 11.2.0.1) is independent of the CHM version shipped with Oracle Grid Infrastructure. However and right now, there is unfortunately no ETA when the GUI will be available for the integrated CHM 11.2.0.2 or higher (11.2.0.3 for example, once out). The GUI is optional as far as CHM and its purpose is concerned, although it is useful.
What's command line you are using to connect GUI on your CHM? Your are using Public IP or SCAN IP?

  • Cluster Synchronization/Communication

    Hi,
what is the suggested/preferred way of SAP to implement cluster synchronization/communication in a NetWeaver AS Java cluster? F.e. an application deployed on two instances manages a RAM based cache. This cache needs to be synchronized somehow, at least a flush triggered on the one instance should result in a flush on the other instance. I would use JMS for this kind of situation, since the AS seems to be J2EE 1.3 compatible this should be no problem, right? Are there other suggested/preferred ways of implementing this communication?
    Best regards,
    Fabian

Not sure if you've found an answer or are still looking, but since I was looking for an answer to the same thing and found this post on Google, I'll post this here for any other Googlers.
From the release notes for Sun Cluster 3.2 Geographic Edition:
Sun Cluster Manager Requires Same Root Password on Partner Clusters (6260505)
Problem Summary: To use the Sun Cluster Manager graphical user interface (GUI), the root password must be the same on all nodes of both clusters in the Sun Cluster Geographic Edition deployment.
Workaround: If you use Sun Cluster Manager to configure your clusters, ensure that the root password is the same on every node of both clusters. If you prefer to not set the root password identically on all nodes, use the command-line interface to configure your clusters.
I had the exact same error, changed the root passwords to match, and the error goes away, so apparently that was the issue.

Possible workaround: Call oracle global support. You'll get the link in google.
    Or
Raise an SR with support.oracle.com if you have valid CSI

  • Oracle Cluster Health Monitor

How many people use the Oracle Cluster Health Monitor and is it recommended?
    http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/database/clustering/downloads/ipd-download-homepage-087212.html
According to the FAQ it is integrated into 11.2.0.2 - Cluster Health Monitor (CHM) FAQ [ID 1328466.1]

I would look in the installation directories for an HTML file for the documentation. One of the download ZIP files for CHM contains a file named chm_os_useman.html. I don't know if this is the same file that might exist in your installation, but it is worth a look.

  • Cluster Service Monitoring - Is There An Alert When a Volume is Available?

We've seen some alerts that show a shared volume is no longer available. They look something like this
Alert: Shared Volume IO is paused
    Source: Cluster Service

    Last modified by: System
Last modified time: 2/14/2011 7:16:10 AM Alert description: Cluster Shared Volume 'Volume4' ('Exchange Mail Data') is no longer available on this node because of 'STATUS_CONNECTION_DISCONNECTED(c000020c)'. All I/O will temporarily be queued until a path to
    the volume is reestablished.
We're wondering if there is a way to generate an alert that tells us the volume is available again.
    Orange County District Attorney

    Hi,
Based on my research, this monitor is based on the Cluster Shared Volume related Events:
    Event Log Rules
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dd491018.aspx
Please also see the Events listed:
    Cluster Shared Volume Functionality
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ee830309(WS.10).aspx
However, I could not find the Events means the “cluster
shared volume is available again”; therefore, I suspect this cannot be monitored based on Event Log.
In addition, I just noticed the status of a cluster shared volume can be queried by PowerShell script. Hope this can give you some hints:
    Get-ClusterSharedVolume

There will be a new version of the Standalone CHM/OS for Windows that will work with 11.2.0.2 and earlier versions available on OTN in the near future. The older version that you are using has not been tested and due to the infrastructure changes in 11.2 it is not expected it will work. The integrated CHM/OS that is included as part of the 11.2.0.3 GI installation does work as does the new GUI (CHMOSG) now available for download.

  • Cluster Health Monitor - Gui does not connect to loggerd on a 11.2.0.2 RAC

    Hi,
i'm implementing an 4-Node Oracle RAC 11.2.0.2 on Oracle Linux 5.6.
In 11.2.0.2 the chm is integrated in the grid-home. The necessary daemons are running properly. If I use oclumon on a node i get the collected data.
The manual explains that i have to download and install the client-tool separately. I get it from otn and installed it on several systems (linux 32Bit, linux 64Bit, a Cluster Node, windows) using the command "crfinst.pl -g <path>".
Running the gui "crfgui -m rac01" i receive the following output:
    Cluster Health Analyzer V1.10
Look for Loggerd via node rac01
+?E: Cannot connect to Loggerd on rac01+
    Reason: Invalid node name
Note: Node localnode is now up
+?E: Cannot connect to Loggerd on rac01+
    Reason: Invalid node name
+...Polling for connection to Loggerd on rac01, duration: 60sec+
The node name rac01 can be resolved by dns. If i execute "crfgui -m <ip-address>" i receive the same error.
I wonder that the version of the server side is 2.0 whereas the version you can get from otn is 1.1.
    regards,
    Dirk

    Hi Dirk,
there is no GUI yet released for the CHM which comes with 11.2.0.2

  • Question on cluster synchronization...

Say you have two servers in a cluster, S1 and S2. Assume client A
updates entity bean B in server S1. Client B later queries entity
bean in server S2, which was pooled. Will client B read stale data?
When client A updates entity bean B in server S1, how is this change
propagated to server S2? Is it propagated at all?
Does it make sense to use pooling in a multi-server configuration?
              Thank's in advance
              Andrej

You have to set DBShared to true and then every method invocation on the
bean will load the data from the database and thus you will always have
              latest changes.

  • Oracle Cluster Health Monitor on Windows

    Hi experts
I looked in the forum but found no answers, so I'm begging for help...
I'm trying to install OCHM on a 2-nodes RAC.

Oracle 10.2.0.5 Standard Edition, 32 bits.

The CHM product underwent a transformation in 11.2. Previously it was known as IPD/OS. However, I don't think CHM works on Windows for 11.2.0.1 or 11.2.0.2. I did mention this confusion to the OTN admins previously, and it looks like they might have created a special ZIP file for Windows named [crfpack_winnt.zip|http://download.oracle.com/otndocs/products/clustering/ipd/crfpack-winnt.zip] . I suggest following the instructions here ( [http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/database/enterprise-edition/ipd-readme-130657.pdf?ssSourceSiteId=ocomen|http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/database/enterprise-edition/ipd-readme-130657.pdf?ssSourceSiteId=ocomen] ) and keeping your fingers crossed.

  • SCOM cluster monitoring

    Hi all,
recently a client of mine complained that he wasn't alerted on a cluster service that stopped on some of his machines. i checked and found the reason was that i do not have the windows server 2012 cluster management monitoring MP installed.
when googling for it, i got to: http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/confirmation.aspx?id=2268
but from what i understand, this MP is for all servers type (2003, 2008). i have 2003/8 installed, only need 2012. if i go ahead and install this MP, will it just upgrade the versions of the 2003/8 MPs? can that hurt me somehow? i mean like cause subscriptions
    not to work or whatever.
    thanks,
    Uri

    Hi Uri,
    From the guide:
"If you have version 6.0.6277.0 of the Windows Server 2003 Cluster Management Pack:
If you have installed the Windows Server 2003 Cluster Management Pack 6.0.6277.0, remove the following management pack files prior to importing this management pack:
    Microsoft.Windows.2003.Cluster.Management.Monitoring
    Microsoft.Windows.2003.Cluster.Management.Library
    Microsoft.Windows.Cluster.Management.Monitoring
    Microsoft.Windows.Cluster.Management.Library
If you have any other version of the Windows Server Failover Cluster Management Pack, you can upgrade the management pack without performing the previous steps.
An in-place upgrade is supported for Windows Server 2003 Cluster Management Pack versions 6.0.6277.1 and higher."

Is there a way in which I can manually change the disks labeling or with any hotfix?
