CME 7.1 / CUE 3.1 - Fax Onramp - Bug or Config Issue?

I have searched long and hard for the correct way to do this but I can't find the information I think I need. I want to setup a dedicated incoming fax number (fax onramp) to accept a fax from the PSTN network (a traditional fax machine) and have it email to a dedicated email address. In other words, FAX Machine dials 1234561280, which receives the fax and then emails it to a local Exchange server ([email protected]). (NOTE: I could also live with it going to a single CUE mailbox too.)
I am running CME 7.1 and CUE 3.1.1.
So in doing research, I found several articles on using a TCL script you can download for fax onramp (and offramp) for an IOS gateway. I went down that route and finally had it answering the phone with a fax tone (config below) but it would reboot the router as soon as I hung up. (Never tried an actual fax since this was unacceptable regardless if it took the fax).
This was frustrating so more research. I was thinking the issue was the fact that the script was fairly old. So then I notice documents (and I had noted the fields when configuring users in CUE) that CUE 3.1 supported faxes. So then I wondered if I was using the wrong method.
I searched Cisco's web site and found nothing useful. Then I ran across this post on this forum that seemed to support my assumption that maybe I did not need that old TCL script on more recent IOS/CME/CUE solutions.

The link in the previous post deals with haveing an application detect fax tone, but it does not function very well as an AA. The caller calls in, waits N number of seconds while a voice says something like "press 1 if this is a voice call, 2 if fax...". If the caller presses to, or the script hears fax tone, the script knows how to negotiate the fax. However, it wants to do it with t.37 (or store and forward). Meaning the email will be sent via email to the address listed in the script.
CUE 3.1 has the ability to do store and forward. it's built into the code, and doesn't require the IOS tcl script noted in the previous paragraph. It's a great way to receive faxes.

But when I followed the link shown here, it too uses the TCL script.
So I guess my question is:
1) Is there a way to do this without the TCL script?
2) If I need the TCL script, is there something I have configured wrong that is causing the problem or is there a bug in the script?
ANY HELP WOULD BE APPRECIATED!!!!

  • AutoAttendant not transferring calls in CUE 8.6 to CME 9.1

**Issue is calls are not transferring once extension or directory is pressed on the phone.
I upgraded our 2811 CME 7.1/CUE 7.0 router to 2911 15.2 CME 9.1/CUE8.6.  It has CME and V/k9 license enabled.  I uploaded the configuration used on the 2811 to the 2911.  I added the ip addresses in the ip trusted list.  Calls come in and out if I point the translation list to the phone and not to the auto attendant pilot number.  Incase if it was toll fraud issue I disabled it but still a no go.
Everything worked fine on the 2811.  I can't understand why it would not work on the 2911 15.2.  Has anyone had any issues when upgrading from 12.4 to 15.x with auto attendant not transferring calls?
I ran a trace on the Cue when placed a call to extension 114:
    20.10.10.1- CME  interface address
    20.10.10.5- CUE interface address

Ok I'm starting to think its a dtmf issue. I checked to see if I call from internal to the AA and dial an extension if it works but the same issue.  I ran the debug voip ccapi inout and I see consume mask is not set.  What would that indicate?  Could that be the problem?
This is right when I dialed extension 114

  • CME/CUE SIP Phones DTMF-Relay

    Hi all,
Just looking for some clarification on this one.  I'm seeing some conflicting advice about setting the DTMF-Relay on SIP Phones registered to CME with a CUE Module.  I've read some documentation indicating that rtp-nte RFC2833 is the only dtmf-relay supported for SIP Phones registered to CME, however I've also read some documents indicating that sip-notify must be configured as the dtmf-relay on SIP phones when they are communicating to a CUE module.  I'm assuming I'm going to need to configure an MTP on the CME, but just wondering what the official DTMF config should be under the voice register pool for SIP phones.
    Thanks!

    Hi  logan
When doing lab with cme 7.0 and sip phones .sip phones are  not recognizing the "sip-notify" dtmf-relay method .It can only recognize "rtp-nte" method and it does not matter weather you are using sip-notify or rtp-nte for a dial-peer pointing to cme .
    i configured on cue
    ccn subsystem sip
    dtmf-relay sip-notify
    end
on cme i configured a dial-peer pointing to cue
    dial-peer v 3888 voip
    destination-pattern 3888
    session target ipv4:177.3.11.10
    codec g711ulaw
    no vad
    session protocol sipv2
    dtmf-relay sip-notiy
    on my sip phones
    voice register pool 1
dtmf-relay sip-notify  ------> now in this case cue wont recognize dtmf tones
when i change this dtmf-relay method to rtp-nte it recognizes dtmf tones to  when recording  a message

  • Using CUE as SMTP relay

    Hello world...
I hope someone has an answer to this - i have gone through the CUE CLI documentation looking to config it up as an SMTP relay, and this idea does not seem like it will work.
    System is UC540 on 8.6.5
I have a PRI with a DID block for the client - they want individual fax numbers for each person.  That part is easy enough.  They do NOT want to store it in their vociemail box.  They just want it sent to their email inbox.  They do not want to use the "listen" mode where fax and voice comes in on the same DID because the delay for the customer calling in is too great in their opinion.  This is fine.  I get it.
However I am having a dickens of a time using the CUE to send the emails based upon the DID to the user mailbox.  I am talking about configuring a separate ephone-dn and an account on the CUE for the fax email user.  when i go this route, The sending fax machine just hangs and never successfully transmits.
IF, however, I set the "mta send server" to my test-bench smtp relay by IP address, it all works.  Fax as email attachment comes through like greased lightning.
I try to do it via the extension and have CUE submit it out, things just hang.
IS THERE A WAY to configure the CUE to act as a simple SMTP relay for all things internal?
This is the config that works for me:
mta send server 192.168.110.25 port 25 <IP addess of my bench smtp server>
mta send server 10.10.10.1 port 25
    mta send with-subject both
    mta send mail-from hostname LAB-UC540.lab.org
    mta send mail-from username $s$
    mta receive aliases 10.10.10.2
    mta receive maximum-recipients 7
    For the MMOIP, I have:
    dial-peer voice 3020 pots
    translation-profile incoming Lab_Fax_T37_Called_26
    service onramp
    incoming called-number 4627
    direct-inward-dial
    port 0/2/0:23
    dial-peer voice 1801 mmoip
    service fax_on_vfc_onramp_app out-bound
    destination-pattern 4627
    information-type fax
    session target mailto:[email protected]
    The above works remarkably well
This (generic CCA config) is broken:
    dial-peer voice 3020 pots
    translation-profile incoming Lab_Fax_T37_Called_26
    service onramp
    incoming called-number 4627
    direct-inward-dial
    port 0/2/0:23
    dial-peer voice 1800 mmoip
description ** fax onramp for outbound faxmail to CUE **
    service fax_on_vfc_onramp_app out-bound
    destination-pattern ^....$
    information-type fax
    session target mailto:[email protected]
    fax receive called-subscriber $d$
    fax interface-type fax-mail
mta send server 10.10.10.1 port 25
    mta send with-subject both
    mta send mail-from hostname 10.10.10.2
    mta send mail-from username $s$
    mta receive aliases 10.10.10.2
    mta receive maximum-recipients 7
Any suggestions?  Or do I build a small internal LAN smtp relay server?

    Hello,
The CUE is used with the script for t37 - there are two approaches with fax to email.
One is using the CUE and the other is not using CUE just to add the right information.

    Hi guys,
i have a new router with CUE 8.6.10 am trying to run the wizard and an error appears " "login as administrator failed"
the username and password is 100% correct also the below commands exists in my configuration
    ip http server
    ip http authentication local
    ip http secure-server
    ip http path flash:
    telephony-service
"web admin system name admin password xxxx
     dn-webedit
     time-webedit
i tried a lot of things with no luck
Note GUI files exists on the router flash

The stuff under telephony-service is for CME, not for CUE
Create a normal user (username test123 privilege 15 secret test123) use this account to login to the CLI of CUE (service-module isM 0/0 session)
Then create an administrative user and use this one to login to the CUE GUI

  • Fax and Voice use same DID - SIP/CUBE

Is there any good way to have inbound Fax and Voice calls use the same DID?
I know there used to be a Fax Onramp TCL script, but I thought that was for TDM circuits (T1-PRI).
In this scenario, the PSTN comes from a SIP provider to a CUBE router. The provider does support T.38.
Call flow is: Remote Fax machine -> PSTN -> SIP Provider -> CUBE ->SIP -> CUCM (or Fax server.)
Ideally, I would like to send Fax calls directly to a 3rd party Fax server without going through CallManager (using dial-peers).
I'm hoping there is some secret SDP message that says "This is a Fax call, route me to the Fax server".
    Thanks, Randy

    Hi Stephan,
there are several timeouts and timings on voice ports which you can try out to "speed up" your disconnect but from my experience fax machines have an internal timing they need to get ready again - for example it needs often ~30sec to make a second ingoing fax after receiving the first one. For outgoing faxes the machine has usually a buffer where it stores the pages till the line is ready again. So it depends on the type & brand of fax machine you use, doesn't it?
Notice that some timeouts don't work since you control them with UCM (eg. ringing timeout => should be no answer config on line configuration)
    show voice port 2/0:
Initial Time Out is set to 2 s
Interdigit Time Out is set to 10 s
Call Disconnect Time Out is set to 60 s
Supervisory Disconnect Time Out is set to 750 ms
Ringing Time Out is set to infinity
Wait Release Time Out is set to 30 s
Hookflash-in Timing is set to max=1000 ms, min=150 ms
Hookflash-out Timing is set to 400 ms
Furthermore I would suggest you to use actual 12.4(24)T release since i hade several problems with the 12.4(25c).
    Regards,
    Christoph

  • External PSTN calls are not making it to CUE voicemail?

External PSTN calls are not being forwarded to my Unity Express Voicemail. Internall calling and forwarding to Voicemail is working like a charm. However, calls from the outside just busyout after so many rings and never make it to voicemail.
Can some one help point me in the right direction. I think it might be as simple as dial-peer problem.
    Thanks in advance,
    Curt

I'm assuming this is CME-integrated. Basically, if you have a PRI connection, the easiest thing to do is to do a 'debug isdn q931' and check out the called number. Or if you have an FXO connection to the PSTN, then you've got some kind of 'connection plar' under the voice port to give you the called number. Basically the called number must match a destination pattern under a voip dial-peer pointing to CUE (you can use 'debug ccsip message' and look for an INVITE message to see where it's going to). Next, it has to match a trigger ('show ccn trigger' in the CUE CLI) to envoke a particular application, such as voicemail. If you have trouble, what we'll need to see is the exact called number (either via the isdn q931 debug or connection plar configuration statement) and the configuration (show run) from the CME and the CUE.
Lastly, take a look at the following notice:
    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/partner/products/sw/voicesw/ps5520/products_field_notice09186a008023cfe2.shtml
which might apply to your situation.

  • Transfer voicemails between seperate cue's

    Hello netpro!
What is needed to transfer voicemails between 2 cisco unity expresses ?
The customer has 2 sites with separate cme’s and cue's, but there is a wan connection between the sites.
For the cme’s, it is already configured to transfer calls between the sites, but they would like the ability to transfer voicemails from one extension to another extension on the other cme/cue.
    CME version : 8.6
    CUE : 7.3
    Thank you in advance

If there is no WAN there is no way to do it outside of forwarding from email client, if you had WAN connection you could integrate them via VPIM.
    HTH,
    Chris

  • Cme 2 cme voip calls work every other time

have 2 cme's with checkpoint in between.
    cme A & cme B
ip phone on cme a call cue on cme b works every time
ip phone on cme a calls ip phone on cme b it works every other time consistantly. One time ringback next time busy.
phones in both locations are on different subnet from cue.
i've tried to disable ip cef to no avail and still getting problem.
debugs give disconnect cause code as network not available.
any ideas as to why it would work one time and not the next?
some sort of timer / timeout?
    thanks,
    paul.

You've probably mapped that key to a key command or controller assignment.
If you know what you are doing, then check the key commands and controller assignments window for unwanted MIDI mappings.
If you are not sure, then back up and move your Logic preference files and restart Logic to see if it goes away.
If it still happens, option click on File -> New to create a new song and try that. It it works OK in that, you may have something in your environment that's interpreting specific note values and doing something with them (or filtering them).

  • Can't receive fax LaserJet Pro MFP M127fw

While I can send faxes on my LaserJet Pro MFP M127fw, I can't receive them.  I've downloaded the newest software & drivers, and the LaserJet Firmware Update utility, and run the fax test, with the report indicating it passed.

    Hello @V122,
I'm sorry to hear that the reset made no difference.
Because your fax machine will manually answer faxes we know that the fax modem in your printer is functioning properly. In saying that, I did a bit more research into the Fios phone line that you're using and I do believe that your issue lies with your digital fiber-optic phone line.
Faxing is old analog technology. Nowadays many phone providers offer digital phone lines (like your Fios line). These digital phone lines should work OK with your fax machine. However, there is a lot more static noise and interference on those digital phone lines that cause fax receiving issues. Because your fax can manually answer we know, as I previously stated, that the fax modem is functioning. However, the fax signal isn't strong enough (probably due to digital interference) to prompt your machine to wake up and automatically answer the fax. Simply stated, your machine does not detect a fax coming through.
According the the User Guide for your printer: "HP products are designed specifically for use with analog phone services."  Source: User Guide: Page 110 (120-128)
Because Fios operates like Voip (Digital internet based phone line) we could try to lower your Fax Speed to Slow on your printer to give your fax machine more time to 'listen' and 'connect' as the digital signals transfer much faster than analog signals.
    How to Lower Fax Speed:
Select the Setup button on your printer
    Right arrow to Fax Setup
Right arrow to Advanced Fax Setup
Select Fax Speed and alter this to Slow
Once the Fax Speed has been changed to slow, please try to receive a fax automatically again to see how your printer responds.
Please let me know if the Fax Speed adjustment resolves your issue. Good luck!

  • CUCM 7.1.5 + cue 8.6.7 AA call transfer issue

The problem I have, happens only when a caller from PSTN calls my AA, the call is answered (the PSTN Caller hears a message) and then transfer to an sccp phone but the destination number does not answer and then the call is redirected to the forwarding destination. The last DN that will answer the call does not receive called id information but only the caller id (PSTN number).
For example a PSTN user xxxx2232 calls one of our customer service representatives at xxxxx007. The call is answered by CUE AA that plays a message and then the call is transferred back to xx007. In my case xx007 does not answer and the call is forwarded to xx008 which sees on the phone display call from xxxx2232 only and not call xxxx2232 for xxxxx007. When xx008 tries to pick up the call from xx007 the same happens.
With cue 7.0.3 i had no such issue after the upgrade of my cue to 8.6.7, I have this issue.
Can help in order to find what is going wrong.
    Thanks.

CUC yes, for CUPS you need to review the CUPS compatibility info to find that out, for any other Cisco apps, also review the release notes to find if they're compatible or no. For 3rd party apps, check with the vendor

    - try to update fax & scan ( via windows update )
    - *click control panel > un-install/change a program > turn windows fetures on or off > uncheck fax & scan > restart your computer > then check the fax & scan again > check if issue persists.
    * make sure you back-up your current settings & files, after re-installing fax & scan, settings & files may be lost.

  • HP 7612 not receiving faxes

We've had an HP 7612 for months now and all of a sudden it's not accepting faxes. Rings once, makes a tone and shuts off.
Checked the settings and did a fax test and all looked good. What could be the cause?

    Hey @tamwolfe,
Welcome to the HP Support Forums!
I would like to assist you today with resolving the fax receiving issues you're experiencing with your HP Officejet 7612 Wide Format e-All-in-One. I understand that you have already checked settings to no avail. Thank you for also including that the fax test completes with no issues. At this time I'm going to walk you through some additional troubleshooting to resolve this issue.
Just so you are aware, faxing is old analog technology. However, nowadays Phone Companies use digital lines rather than analog. Digital lines should work just fine. However, there is a lot more static noise and interference on those lines that can cause intermittent issues when receiving faxes. Usually the digital interference doesn't affect sending faxes. If this machine was working for a period of time and suddenly stopped than there is a chance that the Phone Company updated something on their end that has caused additional interference. Our ultimate goal here is to suppress as much of that static noise interference as possible to allow for reliable faxing.
    Step 1: Disable ECM:
Error Correction Mode is a setting that is turned ON by default on your printer. This setting will cause your machine to stop receiving faxes should interference be detected. I am going to have you disable this feature to force faxes to receive.
On the touchscreen for your printer right arrow until you see the Setup menu (wrench)
Touch Setup to access this menu
Select Fax Setup to access the Fax Setup menu
Right arrow to Advanced Fax Setup and select it
Right arrow to Error Correction Mode (ECM) and select it
    Disable Error Correction Mode
Have someone fax you now to ensure that receiving is working again. Should you still be experiencing issues please continue to the next step.
    Step 2: Lower Fax Speed:
As I previously mentioned, digital fax lines can cause a lot of interference for fax machines. With digital phone lines the technology is much more advanced than on analog lines. The transmission speeds on those lines can also cause packets of information to be lost, resulting in a fax communication error when receiving. To correct this issue I am going to have you lower your fax speed.
On the touchscreen for your printer right arrow until you see the Setup menu (wrench)
Touch Setup to access this menu
Select Fax Setup to access the Fax Setup menu
Right arrow to Advanced Fax Setup and select it
Right arrow to Fax Speed and select it
Change the Fax Speed to Slow
Please try receiving a fax again on your machine to ensure that the interference issue is resolved.
Note: If you are using a DSL Phone Line you will need to have a DSL filter on your fax cable to cut down interference. Also, avoid splitters or phone cable extenders as they can contribute to the interference issue.
Please let me know if the steps I've provided resolve your fax issue. I look forward to hearing from you. Good luck!

  • How to use 8600 fax with a digital phone line?

Has anyone had any luck with setting up the HP Officejet Pro 8600 with a digital Phone line?  I do not have an analog phone and of course that information was never brought to my attention when i bought the printer.  I am a bit amazed that it does not work with both analog and digital.

Hi mboddeti, Here is a different link to the document.http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c02891758&cc=us&dlc=en&lc=en If it still does not work, go to HP.com and search for c02891758 and it will find that document.  Error codes are different though.  The voice over IP line still could be the issue, but it is possible that something else is occuring. The document has instructions on how to test your fax setup with the HP faxback service.  If it works with the test fax, it could be an issue with that particular receiving fax.
