Codec support - lots of problems

I've got 37 avi files from the same camcorder, taken within minutes of each other.
I can import them all into Organizer and play them all in Organizer.
But when I try to play or drag/drop them onto the timeline in PE8,
it compains that the video codec is not supported - FOR HALF OF THEM!
WTF?
THEY ARE ALL THE SAME!
Then, to make things more infuriating, I can convert the AVIs into
multiple other formats (using MediaCoder) and PE8 won't recognize the sound or the video
for almost every single conversion....mpg1, mpg2, mpg4, avi, divx - you name it, they all fail in PE8....
This program STINKS - ADOBE you should be ashamed putting this untested garbage on the market.

Just as a test, get G-Spot and run one of the files that does work, plus one that does not work. What is the difference, if there is one? Hint: a screen-cap of each in G-Spot will really help and save a bunch of typing. Use the little "camera" icon in the lower-middle of the forum editing screen's toolbar to attach these screen-caps, so they can be quickly seen and compared, and so they do not have to go through queue. There might be something there.
This is just a guess, but I'd say that there has to be a difference between the files that work, and the ones that do not. It might be something like auxiliary files not being copied over from the folders on the SD card, or similar.

    Updated the phone to IOS 7.1.1 but there was a problem with my computer.  Everything was removed from the phone but I couldn't get it back without help.  The tech helped me and everything is fine now except the music.  I did sync it and backed it up but wonder if I should restore backup.  I'm a little nervous to try that, what do you think.

  • CS4: Add codec support

    Does anyone know how I can add support for a codec in Premiere Pro CS4 [Windows]?
    I would like to have the XVID [not DIVX!] codec and the X264 [not H264!] codecs to be supported by Premiere Pro, because I cant seem to import any of my custom converted videos [well, actually importing works, but Premier only shows 1 frame, and sometimes a bit of sound...]
    It seems like Premiere Pro doesnt support anything! [except for the WMV codec, but that s*cks...]
    Please tell me how to add codec support to Premier Pro CS4!

    Well, let me explain it all now:
    -I used a video camera to shoot some clips.
    -Those clips were automatically encoded with the H.264 codec. [as it is Full HD footage]
    -When i tried to play these files on my computer, it displayed weird black bars on the left and right.
    -So i wanted to convert those files using another codec, to make them look properly on my computer.
    -So i opened the videofile with Any Video Converter Pro to have a look if that program does read the format properly.
    -It seemed that Any Video Converter Pro was able to read the file properly.
    *I think that is because it has build-in codecs or something? ... on the other hand, the codec i use a lot, x264 and xvid, which are available in the program, arent available by default: i installed them. So the problem would be on my computer [Vista 64bit] and laptop [Vista 32bit] not being able to handle the H.264 codec properly, as Any Video Converter Pro was able to read them properly.
    -Using the fact that A.V.C.P. [Any Video Converter Pro] was able to read the file properly, i converted it to another HD codec: X264, which my computer can display without any problems at all: now the black bars on the side are gone.
    -But now I want to use Pr to start the videoediting of multiple clips. Unfortunatly, Pr isnt able of reading the X264 codec.
    -So i tried other codecs, like the ones which are supposed to be supported: MP4 , MPEGII, Microsoft AVI 1, Panasonic DV, XVid, DivX and WMV.
    The only format which Pr seems to like is WMV:
    -With the other codecs, it only shows the first frame, though it does import the files [no errors given].
    -Only the Panasonic DV and MPEGII codec gave the error of not being able to be imported.
    On to the information of the sequence and the used footage:
    SEQUENCE:
    Capture Format: HDV
    Preset Used: AVC-I 100 1080p30
    FOOTAGE:
    Container: AVI
    Codec: X264 [originally H264, explanation above]
    Audio: MP3
    Resolution: 1920x1080, aka Full HD
    Video Bitrate: 6000
    Just for the record, here is the comparison of two identical files, both the same footage, left is converted to X264, right is the original, using H264.
    Here is the comparison of the two files when played; again: Left X264, Right H264: [both reduced in size, to make them fit in this image I also removed the persons, for privacy reasons.] I tried different media players, but all show the same: GOM Player, Windows Media Player, VLC Media Player, Quicktime Player, RealPlayer. Also installing the Full K-Lite Codec Pack didnt make a difference.

    There's a conceptual problem in playing video streams in the E7 (or Symbian in general). There is no video player I could choose the source from except local file system. All web streams are handled by the webkit browser.
    The praised codec support is actually mediocre - there is no support for WMV3 for example.

    Unless another version of the browser is developed and flash support increased that is how it will stay ! I download Video onto my phone and watch when on the go, the reliability of a 3.5G signal is as much a problem as the phone itself, and I haven't found a Video under 2 gig in size that won't play on my E7 as yet, I also carry a 16 gig memory stick with movies on and use that if I have a lot of media on the phone and am running short of space , USB on the go !

    Software ask for permission to install , and about 30 % in , my instinct was telling me , there is something not right . I stop installation . Delete everything , look for any
    trace in Spotlight , Library . Nothing could be find .
    Now , every time I open Safari , Firefox or Chrome , it will open in my home page , but when I start looking for something in steed of Google page , there is
    ''search.genieo.com'' page acting like a Google . I try again to get raid of this but I can not find solution .
    With more research , again using genieo.com search eng. there is lots of articles and warnings . From that I learn do not use uninstall software , because doing this will install more things where it come from.
    I do have AppleCare support but its to late to phone them , so maybe there some people with knowledge , how to get this of my computer

    Genieo definitely doesn't help with your router. It's just adware, and has no benefit to you at all. They scammed you so that they could display their ads on your computer.

  • Lots of problems with newer MacBook Pro

    I bought my first Mac about a year and a half ago. Unfortunately I've had lots of problems with it. I need to get it repaired, but I'm not sure what's wrong. I live in Thailand so I want to have some idea of what's going on before taking it to a shop (so they don't try to price gouge me).
    The first problem happened about 9 months after i bought it. The computer would become incredibly slow. Sometimes it would take 15 minutes to boot up and sometimes it wouldn't boot up at all. But sometimes it was fine. If it did boot up, sometimes when I'd go into a folder in Finder, nothing would show up. The spinning loader graphic would just spin at the bottom of the Finder window. I ran a disk check and it said it found multiple errors that could not be fixed. I erased the hard drive and reinstalled Lion and everything seemed fine. Since I live in Thailand and I need my computer for work, I didn't want to ship it off to Apple to be fixed. It seemed fine after formatting the hard drive, so I figured it was fixed.
    About 3 months later the problem came back, but much worse. I couldn't boot up or anything. I took it to a small Mac repair shop because at this point the 1 year warranty had expired. Of course inside the shop it booted up fine and I had to explain to the guy that for 5 days I haven't even been able to turn it on. Finally after restarting 4 times it began slowing down and he could see what I was experiencing. He said he could try replacing the hard drive, but couldn't guarantee it would fix it. I needed my computer badly at this point so I said let's try. I came back a couple days later and he had transferred everything to the new hard drive and installed it. Everything seemed to be working fine.
    That worked, although sometimes (rarely) something weird would happen, like the computer would just shut down for no reason. But, the DVD drive stopped working. It loads a disc OK, but it can't read it and won't burn a DVD. One time it wouldn't eject my DVD for about 30 minutes. I was trying everything I could find on Google. Finally it spit it out.
    Now, about 6 months later, I was watching a movie and about 10 small colored boxes popped up on the screen. They went away after a few seconds, so I closed my movie and went to shut down my computer. The entire screen then filled with horizontal rainbow colored static. It stayed for about 30 seconds, then the screen turned grey. I could hear and feel the fans blowing at full speed.
    And then for about a full day it went away, until earlier today. As I was backing up all my files I played a quick part of a movie. The same squares popped up on the screen so I immediately closed the movie and they went away.
    I finished backing up and then erased the hard disk. I started installing Mountain Lion, and it stopped at about 75%. I canceled the installer and restarted. After a few seconds the screen turned solid blue with white staticky lines. And now that happens every time I turn on the computer after about 30 seconds. There's no operating system because before I can even get to the installer before the screen goes.
    Sorry for the huge amount of info. I just don't have enough experience with Macs to know what's going on. My current issue resembles a video card problem, the issues before resemble a hard drive and DVD drive issue. Replacing the hard drive fixed it temporarily. Could a problem with the logic board cause all of these issues?

    A few things to note...
    If you had contacted Apple about each of the issues that you reported here, they would  have kept a log of the problems that would help them determine whether to continue support after the warranty expires.
    You might consider asking about "Flat Rate Repair Pricing." See the discussion thread here and note that some users report that the flat rate repair pricing is only available in the U.S. and Japan.

Try bypassing phone support by contacting them via their online support system with the link I provided in the previous post. (I remember using the online support system and was able to choose to have them call me. At the time, I had AppleCare so i'm not certain with out-of-warranty.) Another option is to seek an authorized Apple service provider.

  • MP3 and restricted codec support

    hi,
    finally I have my system set and running. I did go for the KDE4 which I like very much and followed all the steps as stated in the Beginner'S Guide.
    However, I don't have MP3 neither other multimedia propietary format access like MP4, AAC, MOV, WMA, WMV or RMVB - I carry my multimedia collection of songs, videos and movies from when I was on WinXP (yikes!)- despite I installed Xine and other utilities as desccribed in the Beginner's Guide.
    I do can watch some AVI files but can't access sound stream so they're muted. How do I add full multimedia support to my fresh shiny Arch? I did try to search the forums but there's to seem a problem because I keep receiving desconnections errors.

    I have a lot of problems with Oracle BI SEE 11g
    1. I upgraded my BI SEE 10 repository and can it openning in offline mode.
    2. I can't deploy my upgraded repository in EM MW Control 11g - when i try to open Farm_bifoundation_domain->Business Intelligence->coreapplication, i get error "Stream closed
    For more information, please see the server's error log for an entry beggining with: Server Exception during PPR, #41".
    Opening Logs by EM control doesn't work too.

    Database: Oracle 8i
    Connection pool:
    Call interface OCI 8i/9i
    Data source name:

    This settings are working fine in BI 10.
    In BI 11g i get this funny error: "The connection has failed". I lost my time in attempts to connect to Oracle DB 8, but have not results. After that i hacked button "Query DBMS" at "Features" tab, pressed it and when get error "ORA-03134: Connections to this server version are no longer supported.".
    Therefore Oracle 8 DB as datasource not supported. Am i right?
    4. In sample repository i added oracle DB 10 as datasource, then added two dual tables and their connection to all layers.
    Now i open BI Answers, and trying to create report with one dummy column, Now i have this error:

  • A lot of problems with Lion Server in Mac Mini Server

    I have a new Mac Mini Server and I have a lot of problems.
    The  server application works well for a day, then start to have problem, for example: I can not change the configuration of the share folder, I add a new user but he can not see some folders.
    Then if I login the Mac Mini with another user, he can not see the starting folder and if you open a new folder you see a lot of strange documents.
    Later, with administrator user, I can not login the server application, I put the user name and password but it refuses it (user name and passowrd are correct)
    In the end I also can not login the computer.
    I reinstalled the Lion Server 2 times but nothing change, after 2 days it doesn't work like before.
    I'm very upset, this is the first time in more then 20 year I have a problem with an Apple computer.
    What can I do?

  • BB phone giving a lot of problem

    The blackberry phone which I purchased in month of February is giving me a lot of problems.
    The entire scenario is that on I purchased the Cell phone on 16th February 2012 and the very next day my phone was dead and when I went to the service center they told me that it was a minor issue and they uploaded the software and provided me back. After few days the same scenario happened and I submitted the phone in the Service center. The next day I received the cellphone back but it starting troubling me with the same issue. I have myself uploaded the software more than 5 times when I am outstation at client premises. I took this phone for my official process but I am just receiving problems. There have been 5 job sheets created for this phone but every time after few days the issue comes back. I had submitted the phone and it was sent to Gurgaon office and received the phone back on 04th July 2012 and after that on 24th July 2012 the same issue has creeped up and have submitted the same to the service center which I received back on 9th August 2012 and on 13th August 2012 the same issue has creeped in.
    The error is JVM 517 which states it is an hardware issue.

  • Lots of problems with 10.5

    Lots of problems with Mac 10.5 and AirPort Extreme base station 802.11n and Lacie Drive:
    1. Cannot download .... in dialogue box I get message Download Zero KB. Apple downloads other downloads all same problem.

  • 990FXA-GD80 a lot of problems in OC

    I have a MSI MB 990FXA GD80 and with her, a lot of problems.
    The first is with my RAM.
    When I'm trying to increase my RAM frequency higer or equal @ 1000Mhz (2000Mhz for the both, i have 2x4Go GSkill PC17000), the MB boot normally but on Windows I have only 4Go @ 1000Mhz because CPUZ show me my RAM run in "Single chanel".
    I tried to increase my VRAM to 1,706V (in bios) but without succes. I keep "Single Chanel". Same if i let timings in "auto".
    Before 1000Mhz it's working.
    If I increase the FSB to 250Mhz I must to let "DDR3-1333Mhz" in bios.
    WHY?!
    The second problem it's about the HT Link.
    When my HT Link is higher or equal to 2100Mhz, I can have 3 pretty bips during reboot MB. After bips, she'll boot, on Windows it's working, but if i restart for there, I ll have 3 bips again.
    WHY?!
    The problem with this MB, that's u can't know where you are with voltages. U can let in "auto" but if you want increase a frequency and u don't know a start voltage, that's sucks! You do with closed eyes.
    Control Center is horrible, he never ever works!
    I'm sad because i loved this MB, but if i can't do a good OC, that's useless. I wont sell it.

    Darn right they are, & rightly so! That is much more important than dilusions of grandeur with an OC. Perfection of function at stock first! Then, advance to the exciting world of OC'ing with it's successes & failures.

  • 7210 Supernova fw 7.23 a lot of problems

    Nokia 7210 supernova firmware 7.23 have a lot of problems
    1. After rebooting phone (off and on) all birthday notifications are disappear.
    2. Sometimes radio not working. Need to off and on (reboot) phone. (See video on http://igor-kuznetsov.livejournal.com/7806.html)
    3. While searching names in phonebook. After inputing first uppercase letter always need to switch to lowercase. (not very convenient)
    4. Sometimes while making photo via phone camera, photo saving on memory card with errors. After checking i found that this is not independent of the memory card. I tested on the memory card from nokia. (Memory card was formated in nokia 7210 before testing).
    I called to Nokia Service by the number 88007002222 and they said that all errors are be fixed. Six months had passed, but the i did not found new firmware on nokia site.

    I recently updated my firmware and have many problems as well. I have recieved no actual support either, but have been lied to that there's a new firmware, which the software updater doesn't display. Nokia's behaviour of releasing clearly untested firmwares and lying is very disrespectful and irresponsible.

  • Lots of problems with AirPort Express

    I've got a lot of problems switching to an Apple Time Capsule and AirPort Express, so I posted them all here.
    First of all, I got a new time capsule and airport express. When I first plugged in the time capsule and tested it, it loaded my home page instantly. So I tried clicking on tabs on apple,s website, all loaded in less than a second. I thought they were cached pages, so I loaded pages I never went to and they all loaded in less then a second. Then I exited safari, and the next time i used it it was back to normal speed, 5-10 seconds a page. Not exactly a problem but just wondering if any ideas on how to get that speed back.
    Secondly, I set up my airport express. I planned on using it mainly for airtunes, but set it up to also extend my network. First time using it, AirTunes played, started crackling, then stopped. Now i get the error -15000 message.
    Thirdly, the next day my computer wont load the internet when on one side of the house when hooked up to my TC network. I get 3 or 4 bars, yet the internet wont work. I tried checking AirPort Utility, and found my computer no longer locates my AirPort express... yet the light was green. So I reset it. Now all it does is blink yellow and STILL doesnt get picked up.

    The firmware or security check above may fix this issue. If not,
    the Express should be reset by holding in the reset button until the amber light blinks quickly. Open AirPort Utility and reconfigure the device.

    EARLIER I USE TO PREFER ONLY THIS BRAND AND I HAD USED P1I, W910I OF SONYERICSSION BRAND AND I DECIDED TO USE OTHER BRANDS RATHER THAN SONY ERICSSION BECAUSE THERE WAS A LOT OF PROBLEMS WITH THIS MOBILES WITH IN A COUPLE OF MONTHS I STOPPED USING THIS PHONES AND I HAD SHIFTED TO OTHER BRANDS
    AT PRESENT I HAD SELECTED TO PURCHASE SAMSUNG AND MY BROTHER AND FORCED ME TO PURCHASE SONY BECAUSE HE IS USING SONY XPERIA MOBILE FROM PAST 9 MONTHS ONWARDS AND HE HAD RECOMMENDED ME TO GO THIS BRAND
    I EXPLAINED THE PROBLEMS TO HIM WHAT I HAD FACED EARLIER LIKE LACK OF SERVICE SUPPORT, AND ALSO SOME TECHNICAL PROBLEMS, AND HE HAD CONVINCED NOW THEY HAD CAME OUT WITH ALL THIS PROBLEMS, BY KEEPING FAITH ON HIM I HAD PURCHASED AND AT PRESENT I WAS FACING THIS PROBLEM FROM DAY WHEN I HAD PURCHASED THIS MOBILE
    ALREADY I HAD GIVEN A MAILS AND CONTACTED YOUR CUSTOMER CARE NO ONE WAS RESPONDED PROPERLY
