Coherence, Weblogic

Please tell what steps are necessary to configure the Coherence cluster for Weblogic Server.

I was try the same configuration (WLS 10.3.5 + Coherence 3.6, manual "e15831") at the two PC. One of them work fine with Counter application. And second one is return error.
What could be causing the error descripted below?

Edit classpath with adding of several libs has solved this trouble:
%COHERENCE_HOME%\lib\coherence.jar
%MW_HOME%\modules\features\weblogic.server.modules.coherence.server_10.3.4.0.jar
%MW_HOME%\modules\com.oracle.core.coherence.server_1.0.0.0.jar
%MW_HOME%\modules\com.oracle.core.coherence.integration_1.1.0.0.jar

  • OEM - Coherence - Weblogic Version compatibility

    Hi,
    We wanted to deploy to have a deployment of Coherence and Enterprise Manager with our Weblogic Server (10.3.0.0)
    We decided to go for Coherence 3.6 since it is a major release. Also, we want to avoid upgrading Weblogic Application Server to 11g since it may involve much more work.
    The question is : Does Coherence 3.6 works with OEM(Enterprise Manager) 11G R1 or not ?
    My research tells me : OEM 11g Release 1 (11.1.0.1) and 10g release 5 both work with Coherence 3.5.x

    Hello again!
    Our client has the following server setup:
    Oracle Weblogic 10.3.4 and Oracle database 10g running on Linux SUSE 10 SP3, all on a VMWare 4.1 virtual machine.
    They intend to install LiveCycle Reader Extensions on Windows Server 2008 and use this Weblogic + Oracle database setup on Linux.
    Possible?
    Thank you!

  • Help on Coherence + Weblogic Cluster configuration

    Hi,
    I am new to Coherence. I am exploring coherence to fulfill one of my requirement.
    My requirement : I have an application deployed on a Web logic Server clustered environment. I need to cache the application specific data(java maps) and that should be available for all nodes of the WLS cluster. The application data that's being cached, can be updated from any of the node from the WLS cluster and updated application data from the cache should be available for all the nodes of the WLS cluster. The nodes in the WLS cluster resides in different machines from different locations.
    Can I use coherence as a caching services for my requirement?
    If Yes, do I need to start a coherence cache server on each node of the WLS cluster?
    If yes, do I need to specially configure these cache servers, so that these cache servers would communicate each other in case of any data updates in the cache?
    It will be great help if you could also provide sample configurations to achieve the above scenarios.
    Thanks in advance!
    regards,
    Srinivas M

    You can start one cache server in the network by using for example
    # home directory
    BEA_HOME="/home/oracle/bea"
    export BEA_HOME
    # java vendor (for example Oracle or Sun)
    JAVA_VENDOR="Oracle"
    export JAVA_VENDOR
    # cache server klasse
    CACHE_SERVER_CLASS="com.tangosol.net.DefaultCacheServer"
    export CACHE_SERVER_CLASS
    # coherence options
    COHERENCE_OPTIONS="-Dtangosol.coherence.management=all"
    export COHERENCE_OPTIONS
    COHERENCE_OPTIONS="${COHERENCE_OPTIONS} -Dtangosol.coherence.management.remote=true"
    #COHERENCE_OPTIONS="${COHERENCE_OPTIONS} -Dtangosol.coherence.cacheconfig=WEB-INF/classes/session-cache-config.xml"
    #COHERENCE_OPTIONS="${COHERENCE_OPTIONS} -Dtangosol.coherence.session.localstorage=true"
    WL_HOME="${BEA_HOME}/wlserver_10.3"
    export WL_HOME
    BEA_JAVA_HOME="${BEA_HOME}/jrockit_160_05_R27.6.2-20"
    export BEA_JAVA_HOME
    SUN_JAVA_HOME="${BEA_HOME}/jdk160_11"
    export SUN_JAVA_HOME
    if [ "${JAVA_VENDOR}" = "Oracle" ]; then
         JAVA_HOME="${BEA_JAVA_HOME}"
         export JAVA_HOME
         MEM_ARGS="-jrockit -Xms512m -Xmx512m -Xss128k -Xgcprio:throughput"
         export MEM_ARGS
    fi
    if [ "${JAVA_VENDOR}" = "Sun" ]; then
         JAVA_HOME="${SUN_JAVA_HOME}"
         export JAVA_HOME
         MEM_ARGS="-server -Xmx512m -Xms512m -Xmn256m -Xss128k -XX:PermSize=128m -XX:MaxPermSize=128m -XX:+UseParallelGC -XX:ParallelGCThreads=2 -XX:+UseParallelOldGC -XX:+AggressiveOpts -XX:+UseBiasedLocking"
         export MEM_ARGS
    fi
    # classpath for the cache server
    CLASSPATH="${WL_HOME}/coherence/coherence.jar"
    export CLASSPATH
    # start the cache server
    ${JAVA_HOME}/bin/java ${MEM_ARGS} ${COHERENCE_OPTIONS} ${CACHE_SERVER_CLASS}The -Dtangosol.coherence.management=all option gives you some handy information on what the cache is doing by using for example the mbean browser provided by jconsole or jrockit mission control.
    You can create an application in which you create a cache, the following shows an example of a servlet
    import com.tangosol.net.CacheFactory;
    import com.tangosol.net.NamedCache;
    import javax.servlet.ServletException;
    import javax.servlet.http.HttpServlet;
    import javax.servlet.http.HttpServletRequest;
    import javax.servlet.http.HttpServletResponse;
    import java.io.IOException;
    import java.util.Random;
    public class TestServlet extends HttpServlet {
        private NamedCache movies;
        public void init() throws ServletException {
            movies = CacheFactory.getCache("repl-movies");
            movies.put(10, new Movie(10, "Rear Window", "Alfred Hitchcock"));
            movies.put(20, new Movie(20, "Vertigo", "Alfred Hitchcock"));
            movies.put(30, new Movie(30, "Double Indemnity", "Billy Wilder"));
            movies.put(40, new Movie(40, "Touch of Evil", "Orson Welles"));
        protected void doGet(HttpServletRequest request, HttpServletResponse response) throws ServletException, IOException {
            Integer[] integers = {10, 20, 30, 40};
            Random random = new Random();
            while (true) {
                movies.get(integers[random.nextInt(4)]);
    }Package the servlet into for example a WAR file and deploy it to a configured WebLogic cluster.
    By accessing servlet on the different nodes of the cluster a new cache gets created and added to the
    already running DefaultServer.
    The hard part is to configure your cache. As you can see in the servlet init we ue something like CacheFactory.getCache("repl-movies");
    Coherence default with some example cache configurations which are contained in the coherence.jar (coherence-cache-config.xml).
    The following entry is used
    <cache-mapping>
          <cache-name>repl-*</cache-name>
          <scheme-name>example-replicated</scheme-name>
    </cache-mapping>
    <replicated-scheme>
          <scheme-name>example-replicated</scheme-name>
          <service-name>ReplicatedCache</service-name>
          <backing-map-scheme>
            <local-scheme>
              <scheme-ref>unlimited-backing-map</scheme-ref>
            </local-scheme>
          </backing-map-scheme>
          <autostart>true</autostart>
    </replicated-scheme>A replicated cache is probably what you need as well. As you want all the data to be available on all nodes. If you want to use
    your own cache configuration you can add the option -Dtangosol.coherence.cacheconfig (see the start script for the default server)

  • Coherence Error at the time of Starting weblogic Server

    Hi ,
    I am getting below error at the time of starting Weblogic OSB managed server
    We are using osb_cluster1 (Unicast) for osb_server1 managed server.
    When Weblogic server try to start the managed server we get following Coherence errors and startup scripts try to point to Oracle Coherence 3.6.0.4.(its mainly happening in starting osb_server1 managed server, this error is not appearing during soa_server1 managed server start)
    We don't want to use the coherence at all, we are trying to disable the coherence feature, but hardly getting any success in it, every time during server start-up following error appears.
    Let me know if you have any solution to it.

    In WL console while setting up cluster I have given Messaging

    By default Multicast address and ports comes up

  • Custom p13n-cache-config.xml

    Trying to implement 5.1 P13N CacheProvider SPI Implementation from link:

    Question:
    How can a custom p13n-cache-config.xml be loaded using a -D command?
    Edited by: user734247 on May 1, 2013 1:28 PM

    Hi,
    The p13n-cache-config.xml needs to changed in each of your WLP application's META-INF directory. Coherence does not need this file but rather the provider configuration in file makes Portal application to start using coherence for p13 caching.

  • How to check that data was propagated to all nodes in cluster?

    Hi.
    We are using Weblogic 10.3.5 and Coherence 3.6. Both applications work in cluster mode and we are using replicated mode as a Coherence topology. Also the NameCache use to store and retreive data from Coherence cluster. Now I have a task to calculate a time that take data propagation to all nodes. So, from my sight of view coherence should raise some kind of event when each node in cluster will fulfield with the same data. Or may be there is a standard coherence(weblogic?) listener that provide such an information.
    I will be appreciate for help how to solve my task.

    Jonathan.Knight wrote:
    Hi,
    If you are using a replicated cache then the time taken to replicate the data is the time taken to do a put. Coherence will not return from a put method call on a NamedCache until the data has reached all the nodes. That is why replicated caches are a bad idea for clusters with a lot of nodes where there are frequent updates as they are slow.
    JKHi JK,
    actually, AFAIK, it is not 100% correct.
    From what I remember from an earlier discussion or email, replication in a replicated cache is synchronous to one other member (the lease owner), and asynchronous thereafter. The synchronous part of the protocol involves the mutating member and the entry lease owner (which may be the same). As I understand the lease owner orders the operations and resolves races between multiple mutators, and drives the asynchronous part of the replication to all other members.
    In short, total network cost is linear with nodes, but latency wise you do not need to wait until all updates actually took place on all other nodes (that would be a really sad scenario when some nodes are communicating slowly).
    Best regards,
    Robert

  • OutOfMemoryError occured on server

    While running Coherence, Weblogic 7.0 (ie32, linux) prints the following message upon starting:
    "OutOfMemoryError occured on server"
    From the logs below, it seems that everything is ok with memory. Also, if we don't initialize coherence cashes, everything goes fine.
    Any help will be greatly appreciated.

    Hi Rob,
    Thanks for prompt reply.
    No, we see this error directly after Weblogic startup, but we use Coherence caches in startup classes and the standard Tangsol message
    * Tangosol Coherence(tm): Enterprise Edition is licensed
    is printed before
    <17.09.2004 19:38:42 MSD> <Notice> <WebLogicServer> <000360> <Server started in RUNNING mode>
    Also, there are no other cluster nodes.
    Also, we don't see this OutOfMemory
    message if we don't initialize coherence caches.

    What version of Coherence is packaged/recommended with Weblogic PS4.
    Is there a version change for coherence between Weblogic PS3 (10.3.5) and Weblogic PS4 (10.3.6).
    If there is, are there any major changes worth being aware off.

  • Implementing Oracle DCN with Coherence Cache in a weblogic 10 app server

    I m trying to implements a DCN ( Database change notification ) on oracle to notify a listener of an event of DB so I can update Coherence Cache.
    I followed the tutorial here and it is working fine using a sample program with a main method to execute the listener class and keep it running.
    My question is how would this notification and listener gets implemented on a production environment since my local test was only running a main method to keep the listener running? what technology to use to keep the listener always running on the background and receive the notification from the database )?
    would a [weblogic startup class|http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E13222_01/wls/docs81/ConsoleHelp/startup_shutdown.html] work for this purpose?
    We are using Weblogic 10 as our app server.

    That's a very simple question with (many) potentially complex answers. I think that first uou need to study information on TimesTen to understand what it is and what it does. Then you need to relate that to you current performance bottleneck (I assume you have analysed those). If your bottleneck is database access then maybe TimesTen can help you.
    Please bear in mind that TimesTen is not a 'transparent' drop in performance booster. To implement TimesTen and to realise significant performance improvement you will almost certainly need to make changes to both the application and the overall architecture. The cost/difficulty of doing that also needs to be factored in.

  • Testing Coherence Cluster and Servers after WebLogic Console Creation

    Hello,
    I have created WLST scripts that extend a Domain with Coherence Clusters and Servers using unicast configurations. I can start and run the Coherence Servers from WL Admin Console without errors and warnings.WL 10.3.6
    I am looking to test the configuration with something like coherence.sh and query.sh but I am missing instructions on how to use these tools with unicast and connect to the caches?
    Is there a command line interface that connects to a Coherence Server cache created form the WL Admin Console using unicast? Do I need to override the any xml configuration to make this work?
    Examples would be helpful.
    While testing I have found the following....
    I have changed coherence.sh and enabled storage. In addition:
    JAVA_OPTS="-Xms$MEMORY -Xmx$MEMORY -Dtangosol.coherence.distributed.localstorage=$STORAGE_ENABLED $JMXPROPERTIES -Dtangosol.coherence.clusterport=7777 -Dtangosol.coherence.clusteraddress=231.1.1.1"
    The Coherence Cluster configurations were changed to match the multicast settings for port and address above.
    When this was performed all worked!!
    However, if I changed JAVA_OPTS to use unicast
    JAVA_OPTS="-Xms$MEMORY -Xmx$MEMORY -Dtangosol.coherence.distributed.localstorage=$STORAGE_ENABLED $JMXPROPERTIES -Dtangosol.coherence.localport=8088 -Dtangosol.coherence.localhost=192.168.2.69"
    It fails to connect with the Coherence Server in the cluster.

    Hi there,
    1. How did you achieve the https configuration in Weblogic ? And for which server Admin server or managed Server ?
    2. Are you using which java key store ? Able to see the successful entries in <server>.out log file which is used for start up and stop of the weblogic server ?
    Thanks
    Laksh

    Hey guys, I have LR running on a Dual Core AMD Windows XPpro machine with 2GB ram. When I built the machine last year, I was advised that 2GB was all that XP and CS2 could utilise and that there was no point getting more. Does this hold true for LR.
