Collaboration Room Link on Tool Area  Bar. Possible?

Hi All,
we have collabration rooms which dispays under My rooms for a particular user. Now a user wants to access a single room from somewhere Tool Area iview so that he need not have to navigate to next page for My room iview and then access.
We can do that by changing the URL link of help option with room URL,so that he can click on Help on Tool Area and acees it.But how can i change the name from HELP to some other.I think its not possible?please Confirm.
Is there any possibility to add one more link same as HELP
somewhere on Tool Area and give Room URl to access the room.
Or anyother good option.
Thanks in Advance

Hi Rani,
to 1:
You wanted to know how to change the name "HELP" in the toolarea iView, because as you correctly said, to change the link you only need to change an iView parameter. So only for the label "Help" you need to touch the PAR file. But actually I was misguided by your text, cause the Help link is in the masthead iView and not in the tool area, so you need to change the text in the localization files <b>headeriView_nls(_XX).properties</b> located in <b>com.sap.portal.navigation.masthead.par</b>
to2: For achieving that the links are only visible for some specific users you need to implement some additional logic in the <b>ToolAreaiView.jsp</b>
Hope that answers your doubts and your question,
Robert

    Hi Ravi,
Go to Content administration -> Portal content.
Under Browse tab, click Portal content -> End user content ->open  Default framework page.
Check toolarea iview and open its properties <b>'Enable Collaboration Launch Pad'</b> and set it to NO.Also go to <b>cache validity period</b> property and set all the hour, min, sec values to<b> 0(zero).</b> Refresh the portal and you will see the collaboration disappeared. After it hides enter the same value in cache validity period as before.

    Hi Pradeep,
Have you read my following weblog.
Brodcast messages to logged on users in Portal(Part1)
Brodcast messages to logged on users in Portal(Part2)
the above is one alternative. You could also write a JDBC application that stores alert and then display alert when it finds it in the database. If you send an email at psingh(at)ust.net, i could send  you see this example.

  • Enabling Links in Tool Area

    Hi,
I gone thro a PDF in
    https://websmp103.sap-ag.de/~form/sapnet?_SHORTKEY=00200797470000073623&_SCENARIO=01100035870000000202..
This PDF is for configuring links in tool area.
For configuring links, I have to set 2 properties:
    (1) Enable Link1  &  (2) Enable Link2
But I could not find these two properties. Navigate thro
Content administration -> portal content -> portal users -> standard portal users -> Default Framework Page -> Tool Area iView -> click Open
In the properties list, I didnt find Enable Link1 and Enable Link2 Options.
    What could be the problem?
    Kindly provide me a solution.
    Thanks & Regards,
    Dhana

    Hi Laksmi,
You can directly enable those two links in the default framework page. see the below path:
Content Administrator --> portal content --> Portal Users > Standard Portal Users> Default Framework pages .
Now select the toolarea iView  and its properties , there you can find those two links i.e Enable Link1 & Enable Link2. Make them as "True". and refresh the portal .
If it is helpful , Reward Points.

  • Adding  URL Links to Tool Area iView in Default Framework Page

We want to add a URL link to the Tool Area  iView in  Standard Framework page.  When we edit the property "EnableLink1" and "EnableLink2" property to "True" of Tool Area iView, it shows two links in the tools area without actual links.
Where do we add these links?
    Thanks.

  • Collaboration Rooms problem/info - plz urgent

    dear friends,
I am working on EP developement and now i am working on Collaboration rooms.
I want some info as for below:
    I am using EP 6.0 with SP2
    1. Where exactly the user's information will be stored in EP server?
    2. I understand the purpose of SAP R/3 System in UM Configuration, but what is the purpose of LDAP Server?
    3. Is LDAP Server configuation is required to work on Collaboration Rooms?
    4. Is it possible to work with Collaboration Rooms without LDAP Server/configuration?
Please do reply anybody with positive answers
    urgent reply appricated
    thanks in advance
    Kantha
    cheers
    Kantha

    Hi Kantha,
    > Where exactly the user's information
    > will be stored in EP server?
I don't know exactly what you mean. If no specific user backend store is defined, the users created are stored within the database for the portal server.
    > I understand the purpose of SAP R/3 System in UM
    > Configuration, but what is the purpose of LDAP Server?
There is no need to have a SAP R/3 in the background for UM, you could also just have a LDAP server where the users of the company are stored in. This LDAP you can use for UserManagement.
    > Is LDAP Server configuation is required
    > to work on Collaboration Rooms?
    A simple No.
    > Is it possible to work with Collaboration Rooms
    > without LDAP Server/configuration?
From the last answer a simple Yes follows.
CollabRooms do not need any specific User Backend Store; the UserManagement works as in the rest of the portal on the UME, which again is bound to an LDAP - or not.
    Hope it helps

  • Announcements in Collaboration Rooms

    Hi,
We are using the standard KM navigation iView for displaying announcements in the Collaboration Rooms. The announcements are created using the standard news xml form.
There are about 195 news items that get rendered in a single list. The problem is with the performance of this iView. It takes about 120 seconds to load this iView. I assume this would be because of applying the xsl on all the 195 items and converting them to displayable html items.
Adding the Pager component in the AppBulletinBoardHTMLCR collection renderer, shows the paging but still all 195 items are listed.
    1. Is there a best practice on the number of items in the announcements?
    2. Is there a way i can make the Pager component effective in the collection renderer, so that only 10 items are displayed at a time?
    Thanks, Akhilesh

  • Collaboration link from the tool area

    hello,
has anyone any ideea how can i change the name of the link "collaboration" from the tool area, from the left of search.
    thx

    Hi,
Import the file <i>com.sap.portal.navigation.toolarea.par</i> from the portal, open it with NWDS, look for the file <i>toolAreaiView_nls.properties</i> inside <i>PORTAL-INF\private\classes</i>. find the CLP_LINK_TEXT and change the value to whatever you want. you can also change the files of the individual languages.
Redeploy the par file back to the portal.
It is better if you can deploy it as your own toolarea for future upgrades.
    Best Regards,
    Avishai Zamir

  • Collaboration Room Deep Linking

Wonder if anyone has looked at this before ?
I know you can deep link direct to a collaboration room using a URL such as:
    http://xyz.com/irj/portal?NavigationTarget=CollaborationConnector://portal_content/com.sap.ip.collaboration/Rooms/7068630d-c3dd-2e10-89ba-c179eadcef5a/workset/
Does anyone know if its possible to drill down further than this whilst at the same time maintaining the portal context .... so down into a folder structure under Documents and Links for example.
I dont want just a KM URL for the document - which is what happens if you do a "Send To" command on an item.
    Thanks in advance.
    Haydn

If anyone run into this poblem, I just figured out half the problem. The javascript file (history.js in the history directory) only checks for url with (http://), so if you are testing and in your browser you have file://loc_of_html_file, then it will not work.
On the other hand, my next problem is still unresolved:
Flex Builder 3 is not generating the HTML wrapper when using deep linking AND with the Flex 4 SDK.
    Thanks.

  • Accessing Collaboration Room with Room Link (URL) doesn't work

    hi all
i'm trying to access a collaboration room by room link (url) but it doesn't work. the room url is: https://www.sportal.ch:443/irj/index.html?NavigationTarget=CollaborationConnector://portal_content/com.sap.ip.collaboration/Rooms/b0ce78ec-3f30-2910-2184-b171271d4d95/workset&NavTargetAsRoot=true
i have checked the roombackend-properties => they are ok
i have checked the roles and permissions => they are ok
what me surprises: when i open a new browser window and type in the mentioned url, our portal-start-page is displayed but in the content area there is no content displaied. i expected, that when i type in the url, then the authentification-dialogue would appear, but it does not.... (does this url only work if i am already logged in the portal??)
if you have any ideas, how the problem could be solved, please let me know!
    thank you for your help.
    greetings
    flo

    hi ingo
thank you for the input. i have now solved the problem, perhaps my solution fits for you too. here it is:
when i use the function "send room-link" the url looks like this:
    https://www.sportal.ch:443/irj/index.html?NavigationTarget=CollaborationConnector://portal_content/com.sap.ip.collaboration/Rooms/9020275c-8348-2810-28a6-a8c1ae60e192/workset&NavTargetAsRoot=true
with this url i can not access the collaboration room.
but when i change the url like this:
    https://www.sportal.ch/irj/portal?NavigationTarget=ROLES://portal_content/com.sap.ip.collaboration/Rooms/9020275c-8348-2810-28a6-a8c1ae60e192/workset&NavTargetAsRoot=true
now i can access the room (with authentification).
OK, for me the main problem is solved, but can someone perhaps tell me whats the difference between:
    NavigationTarget=CollaborationConnector
    and
    NavigationTarget=ROLES
    thank you for your help!
    greetings

  • Linking to specific collaboration rooms

    Hello
Is it possible to link to a specific collaboration room from elsewhere in the portal (from a page/iView)?  Similar to the Related Links function, except not from within another room.
    Thanks!
    Chris
    EP6SP14

    Hi Christopher,
it should be not a problem. If you go to the room directory, in the context menu of each room you should have "Add to Portal Favorites..." and "Send Room Link". The first creates a link to the Room in your Favorites folder (/userhome/<user.id>/Favorties). You can either move this link to another folder or you use the link that appears in the mail when you click on "Send Room Link" to create somewhere else this link. You then create a new navigation iView that display the folder with this link (like the Favorites iView).
    Hope this helps,
    Robert

  • Null links in collaboration room

    Hello,
I created a collaboration room with the following room parts:
    Project Home
    Documents and Links
    Tasks
    Admin: Room
    Admin: Members and Room Relations
    Team Members
of these, Admin:Room and Admin:Members and Room Relations are assigned only to Admin members.
When I create a rrom using this template and enter as Admin, everything is fine. The problem is: whenever I am login with Members role, I am getting 2 null links in place of Admin: Room and Admin: Members and Room Relations.
I have tried following https://forums.sdn.sap.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1196685 but without any success. I already have these 2 pages permission set for everyone as Read (End user checked).
    I am on EP 7.0 SP16.
    Please help

Closing for other questions. Had to create new room template for this resolution.
