Colour Loss

I've been having a bit of trouble with colours in fireworks.
I'm not exporting or anything, but the colours in my documents keep
changing.
For example: I'll draw something using #333333, but when I
open the file again the colour will have changed to #383838. Even
worse, sometimes a single colour will have split into several
different shades.
I'm a pixel artist, so this is a big problem for me. Any
suggestions?

In your 'Optimize' panel what do you have your colour set to?

  • Colour loss when exporting jpeg from Aperture 2.1

I'm having a problem with colour loss in images i'm trying to export to a website. These are jpegs that have been worked on as RAW in Aperture, when exported to desktop and viewed in preview there is no colour loss at all, but when viewed on the site the colour saturation seems very dull and lack lustre - any ideas?? I have checked all the export presets (been going through all the posts to see if i could pickup anyone else finding the same) and they are all at the same settings. Thanks

Go to the tools menu and then assign profile. Choose the display profile that your monitor is using. This will effectively stop preview from doing any translation to your monitor. See if this matches what you are seeing when you upload to the web. If it does then somewhere in your upload, process, web server chain the profile is being removed from the jpg or the browser you are using ignores color profiles (most windows browsers ignore image color profiles, that's why adobeRGB profile images look like crap to most windows users when viewed in Explorer)
Ps if this is the case nothing is wrong you are just getting a preview of how most windows users will see your image on the web. Adjust to taste.

  • Colour loss on Render

    Dear Sirs/Madames,
When rendering a film which is comprised completely of QuickTime Movies 960 x 540(Codec: Integer(Little Endian)Timecode, Apple Intermediate Codec), I'm finding that colour corrections to text are losing their saturation and strength. I have the Render / Sequence Settings / Quicktime Video Settings at Apple Intermediate Codec as the compressor. The Video Processing is at Always Render in RGB. In Audio/Video Settings the Sequence Preset I discovered has been set to DV PAL 48khz as has the Capture Preset. Is this why I'm losing colour quality when rendering? There seemes to be no Sequence Preset at the same size as the QT clips I imported. And would this all be the reason for colour loss anyway? Simply can't figure it out. Hot pink goes to a sort pink/grey. Boooo.
Any ideas would be greatly welcomed and appreciated.
    Thanks, Stretch.

Ah....forget to mention I'm also using Light Rays effect on the text.......not sure if that might make a diference.

  • Mini-DVi to VGA colour loss?

I am in the process of buying a Mini-DVi to VGA connector, but have been told, by an Apple Store in Korea, that the connector isn't very good and that it has colour problems. Loss of colour and colour mismatching. Has anybody had these problems and if so, is there a way around it?
    Thanks Guys.

I don't know about color mismatching (I have an old Studio Display CRT hooked up to my iMac for extra real estate, so the color and brightness differences between the CRT and LCD are very noticeable), but I have the full palette of colors; I think the biggest concern that I have read about (see the reviews on the Apple store site) has been its sturdiness, with many ceasing to function after months of use.
I must say, however, that mine has been working fine since July (knock wood), as did my mini-VGA to VGA connector from Apple to hook my old eMac up to the 17" CRT.
To my thinking, for a little less than $20, it's not a bad gamble.

  • Colour loss when saving PNGs.

    Hi there,
I'm fairly new to photoshop and am having a few difficulties when saving a PNG.
I'm using a Mac Book Pro.
    I'm using Photoshop CS6.
The problem I'm encountering is when I save a PNG file I'm losing a lot of colour saturation. It goes from a vibrant red to a dull red colour.
    The workspace is RGB 8bit.
I'm using the SAVE AS function because I don't want it for web I need it for print and I need the transparent background too.
The only way I've managed to get the full colour is by using the save for web option and selecting PNG-24.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I'm using the SAVE AS function because I don't want it for web I need it for print and I need the transparent background too.
Then I see no reason for using png but think you should use psd.
    The workspace is RGB 8bit.
Workspaces are something completely different in Photoshop (and concern Panels, Menus etc,) and RGB is not a Color Space but a Color Mode.
What is the image’s Color Space or if it isn’t embedded what is your RGB Working Space (Edit > Color Settings)?

  • Colour loss when rendering.........

    Dear Final Cutters,
I am losing color on text with glow and color-correction effects on it when I render. The footage is QuickTime, Integer (Little Endian) Timecode, Apple Intermediate Codec. Is there something to do with rendering text at this setting which would cause the colors to lose quality and intensity on text?

  • IPhone 6 leather case damage and colour loss

So I bought the iPhone 6 product red leather case when I got my iPhone, and after a couple months of use it looks pretty bad. Ultimately I'd like to get it replaced for a black one, does anyone know if that's possible or what my options are?

  • Can I print RGB files since they are closer to what is on screen?

    Greetings,
I have an important question about how to set up my files for print. In school I was taught to work in CMYK or at least convert whatever RGB file I'm working on to CMYK. I'm at work now and the files I am printing are coming out dull (in CMYK). I converted a file to RGB and assigned the RGB 1998 colour space and re printed it. The first CMYK print looked grey and was not vibrant. The new RGB print printed very vibrant and matched the screen colours better than the CMYK. My boss wants me to do the rest of the prints in RGB seeing as it prints with better vibrancy. Also, I am working in Illustrator.
So my question is: Can I convert all my CMYK files to RGB, send them to the printing company and expect the prints to be vibrant? Or will converting my CMYK files to RGB mess up the printing companies standards?
RGB prints better, but I was taught to always print in CMYK mode.
    I appreciate the help.
    F
Actually I'm going to leave the files in CMYK since turning them into RGB may cause colour loss during the final large prints. I will print the presentation files in RGB though.
    Message was edited by: Quinonez

    Quinonez,
It sounds as if your printer (driver) in non PostScript, and made for receiving RGB documents which are then converted to CMYK on the printer side.
When you use it for a CMYK document, it will first convert to RGB then back to CMYK, in other words a double conversion, which ís just about as  bad as it sounds.
For such a printer, it is better to start off in RGB, but that may land you in the issue of having different bases for print.
You may get round it with the PS Printer Kit-Q3 to add PostScript 3 emulation printing capabilities, mentioned here (fifth dot in the Features list), which will hopefully give you at least as good colours as you have with RGB:
    http://www.digitalcopier.org/canon-digital-copiers/canon-imagerunner-ir-c3480
Canon's proprietary UFR II printing technology is standard on every model. That means every Color imageRUNNER system is a true MFP right out of the box, ready to produce volumes of general business documents. Customers also have a choice of two print controller options, imagePASS-J1 or PCL Printer Kit-Q3, for expanded printing functionality. For customers who do not require true Adobe PostScript, the device can also be equipped with the PS Printer Kit-Q3 to add PostScript 3 emulation printing capabilities.

  • HELP - DEGRADED PICTURE QUALITY

    Hi.
I am using the new Sony Memory Stick Handycam HDR-CX11E to take my movies with. Click the link below for camcorder details.
    http://www.sony.co.uk/product/cam-high-definition-on-memory-stick/hdr-cx11e
I am recording in Standard Definition HQ, MPEG2 which is 1 step down from the Full HD Quality.
When I playback on my my TV or PC the movie quality is just WOW!!!
But when I playback or transfer the files direct or via iMovie - the movie quality is poor, faded colours & loss in picture clarity. it's as if the movie was taken way back in the 90's not 2009.
Why am I getting degraded quality in iMovie and in general playback on my Mac?
Is it a iMovie issue? or my Mackbook's issue?
    PLEASE HELP!!
And the Stabilization option is rubbish, all it does it zooms in the image more and when you watch the movie, everything is more in your face like, due to the zooming in.

Camcorders are made to work with TVs and not computer monitors, and they have slightly different characteristic such as color space and dynamic range. Camcorder movies tend to look more washed out and less saturated/contrasty and especially so on a Mac where gamma is 1.8 and not HD video gamma 2.22. PCs have 2.2 gamma so it's closer. Your monitor and TVs calibration also affects the look.
Zoom-in for stabilization is inevitable, as it's the only way to stabilize shaky footage. You can limit the maximum zoom on each clips.

  • Gamma issue? Go Pro mp4-files in QT Windows

I've had a similar problem with QuickTime and h.264 in MacOS: http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=2360748
Now QT in Windows seems to have the same problem. My original mp4-file in QT MacOs looks like this:
    http://www.helikopterfoto.se/qtmacos.png
while the exact same file opened in QT Windows (and all other programs dependent on QT support) looks like this:
    http://www.helikopterfoto.se/qtws.png
    What's wrong?

    Edit:
Opened the mp4 original file in VLC on another computer, got the same problem. Converted it to AVI in MP4CAM2AVI (no transcoding, just changing the container), and now it looks much better when played in Windows. Still a little contrat and colour loss.

  • Export uncompressed targa sequence

I work in a television station using Final Cut and LiveType to make graphics. Our clip server imports image sequences, but can only recognize uncompressed targa files. Exporting as a targa sequence from either program applies some sort of compression to the images. Currently we use GraphicConverter or Photoshop to do a batch convert to uncompress, but it would be handier to be able to export directly uncompressed. Is this possible? Alternatively, is there a 3rd party utility that can convert a DV movie to an uncompressed targa sequence. We have Cleaner, but it uses the same compression as Quicktime.
    Thanks.

Thanks John. I get codecs and how they work (I've been making film and commercials for broadcast and cinema for over 10 years) what I find confusing is that apple have removed the choice to render / export with no codec at all - 'none'. We shot a film on Sony F3 with S-Log using an Aja Ki Pro to record directly to an external drive as ProRes 422, there's a weird problem with s-log and prores where the white highlights are clipped but the information is still in the file, because we recorded prores the only way to fix this problem is to apply 3way color correction in FCP (because prores is native to fcp) and bring the highlights down to 99IRE. We are adding CG set extension etc to a few shots so VFX dept are looking for 16bit tiff sequences so that there is no colour loss on their clips so everything will composite together properly in Nuke before online and grade. The only way to do this is to apply the colour correction in FCP, render as uncompressed 'none' then bring the uncompressed file into AE and export the tiff sequences. That way there is no loss of colour information or how the a codec will interpret colour. I've had to export with 'none' hundreds to times but with Lion that option has vanished. It's still there on Snow Leopard, which is what I have to use, but it's gone from Lion. Which is weird, no? Maybe Apple want to force us to use one of their codecs

  • Loss of colour saturation when flattening layers

    Hi,
I'm using Photoshop 7, and have used 'hue/saturation' adjustment layers to add a sepia tone to some images and a wine-red tone to others. Further adjustment layers have also been used to modify brightness and contrast, etc.
I find, though, that when I flatten the layers prior to saving, there's a loss of colour satutation visible on screen. Does anybody know a way of overcoming this?
    Thanks in anticipation,
    Andrew

    That's brilliant. Thanks a lot.

  • Changes, or loss of quality when changing from Indexed Colour to RGB or Gray Scale?

I am using a canon scanner 700 to scan old photographs and plans/maps for high resolution publication. The plans and photographs are both in colour and in bl/wh and grayscale. I usually scan in gray scale unless its an important, coloured plan.
I am unable to scan through c5 for some reason. Its a 64 bit dell M4400, W7. All legal, all working fine.
I use the program canon supplies (Canon MP Navigator EX 2.1) and choose grayscale, 1200 dpi. No problem so far. Output seems great when I open in photoshop.
However, the files open in Indexed Colour mode, and not grey scale as I scanned them in.
    My questions are :
    a) why does it open in indexed colour mode?
    b) is there any loss of information if I simply change them into grey scale?
I need the files in high res for professional publication in large format, but also for analysis of dimensions. So I cannot afford ANY transformation or loss of info.
Hope somebody can help me out!
