Column Delimiter adjustment in SSIS Package

Dear All,
I receive a comma delimiter text file
Due to the extra comma between HEALTH & LLC , LLC is shifting to next column in SSIS like this.(Image No 2)
but ideally it should be adjusted into one column as " WILLAMETTE VALLEY COMMUNITY HEALTH, LLC " like this. (Image No 3)
Please help me to get this done as per Image No. 3.

You need to use text qualifiers to identify data from delimiters. The commonly used qualifier character is ". So your text file will have all data wrapped with "" so that it will idenify data from " WILLAMETTE VALLEY COMMUNITY HEALTH, LLC " as WILLAMETTE
VALLEY COMMUNITY HEALTH, LLC and will put full data to correct column rather than breaking it after , and putting rest in next column.

Can't change the connection string of SSIS package with derived columns?

We upgraded SQL server 2008 to 2012, copied and converted all SSIS packages from Visual Studio 2008 to 2010. When I opened a package in VS 2010 and tried to change the connection string, in the local connection managers, if the data source is another
SSIS package B(.dtsx file) with derived columns, I can't change the connection string of package B. When I opened the file connection manager editor for package B and tried to locate a dtsx file in another location, saved the change, reopened the project.
Package B still pointed to previous file. Other packages without derived columns work fine. Any thoughts?

We are using the package deployment model and refer to other packages in the same project. If
we changed the path of package B (with derived columns) to "D:\Visual Studio 2010\xxxx", and refer it in package A, in the A's connection manager, the connection string of package B is still its previous location "D:\Visual
Studio 2008\xxxx". When we ran the package A in the SQL server agent, the data source is still

The package is developed in SSDT installed by SQL Server 2012, so it is a SSIS 2012 package. However, the Integration Services you have installed is SQL Server 2008 R2 version. To run the package outside SSDT, you need SSIS 2012 installed. The reason why
the package runs fine with only Source and Destination components is that such a simple package can be executed by the DTExec utility installed by SQL Server 2012 Data base Engine or Client Tools (SQL Server Import and Export Wizard). To run a package that
uses other tasks/components outside SSDT/BIDS, the SSIS runtime is also required except the DTExec utility. To obtain the SSIS 2012 runtime, we have to install SSIS 2012 on the server where the package runs.

How to identify if the data is excel sheet is not on fixed column in SSIS package

Hi, I am using SSIS 2008 R2 in which my excel file is the source for data. I am using the "Excel Source" transformation. For the normal data feed and all it is working fine.
There is a requirement the data in the excel sheets are not static. For example think like, data may start from A1 Cell next it may be B1 or B2 and next time E1 or F2 like that. How to identify in which Cell the data is there to load to DB?
Kindly tell me whatever the possibilites are there ....

The mapping of SSIS packages cannot be modified at run time based on the input. Instead , you may consider to bring all the columns from excel into a staging table and figure out from where the data starts. Then load the destination table. If not
you need to think of creating the ssis package itself dynamically using .Net code based on the excel metadata.

Search for a column in all SSIS packages in a Folder

Hi
We are changing the datatype of one of a column for a huge table from INT to BIGINT. All SPs are being changed to accomodate this change.
All the SSIS packges havebeen downloaded to a folder. And I need to find the instances of this column in around 250 packages.
Is there a quick way to do this instead of opening up each package and looking for the column?
I dont have access to MSDB so my search should be based o nthe packages inthe folder.

You can do it using ssis package
Create a table with two columns
Table (PackageXML,PackageName)
one a xml column and another varchar column for this
1. Add a SSIS package with ForEachLoop container. point to folder containing your SSIS packages. Choose filetype as *.dtsx
2. Inside loop add a variable to get package names. choose option as Fully qualified (FilePath)
3. Add another variable and store filename alone extracted from above created variable (FileName)
4. Add a variable to hold query (Query) and assign an expression to it as
"INSERT YourTable (PackageXMl,PackageName)
SELECT *,'" + @[User::FileName] + "'
FROM OPENROWSET(BULK '" + @[User::FilePath] + "',SINGLE_BLOB) x"
5. Add a SQL task inside loop, choose SQLSourceType as variable and point to Query variable
Execute this package. This will cause it to load the code for all packages inside your table
Once this is done then you can just query the table as below to get package with column reference
SELECT PackageName
FROM Table
WHERE CAST(PackageXML AS varchar(max)) LIKE '%columnname%'

How to make Flat File's "Column Delimiter" Dynamic

I have a OLE DB Source which loads data into a Flat File. Now I want to make my Flat File's "Column Delimiter" Dynamic. Will it be possible? because in package configuration we can config "Row Delimiter" but there is no option to config "Column Delimiter".

Thats the NULL concatenation issue I talked about. Anything concatenated with NULL will give NULL hence the blank row.
You need to convert the numeric columns to stings before concatenation, and use ISNULL(column,'') to handle Null values before concatenation.
You final query would look like:
SELECT ISNULL(Col1,'') + ? + ISNULL(Col2,'') + ? + ISNULL(convert(varchar(20),Col3),'')
FROM Table
Assuming col3 is a integer data type.

Issue with creation of SSIS package - reading from XML

having a slight difficulty here and more than this, am afraid solution is pretty straight forward. I am trying to read an XML-file and save the rows to a CSV file (late ron it should be sent to SQL-database).

SSIS package fails with the error as given below. But its warning messages are incorrect.

My SSIS package loads data from access database to SQL Server database.
It's a straight copy. It fails with the below warnings and error message as shown below:

There are 3 warning messages even before I run the package. Warnings are all about the mismatch between the source and destination column sizes.
I cross checked the source and destination column sizes. The destination column sizes are fairly high than the source column sizes.
It worked well all the while and when we are going to pre-prod it is throwing errors. Any help is highly appreciated.

Please check if the dev destination table has same column data types and size as compared with pre prod table

Multiple Convert/Dump and Load tasks in a single SSIS package?

I'd appreciate some input. We have a single data file that has about 1,000,000 rows of data spanning 28 time periods in the columns across each row. The file is too large to import at one time, and so we have created 9 different transformation files to pull subsets of the timeperiods using MVAL. The end user does not want to have to break apart the file and/or schedule 9 separate imports to bring this file in each time. So, I've attempted to create a single SSIS package that runs each of the 9 required component imports, but I'm running into the following error any time that I try to run more than one import at once:
An error occurred while running a packageException of type 'System.OutOfMemoryException' was thrown.
I've tried using a ForEach loop to simply loop through each of the transformation files and run an import for each transformation file it finds. But, I understand that SSIS doesn't release memory until the end of the ForEach loop, which would explain an out of memory issue. I then broke it out and specified 9 distinct Convert task and 9 distinct Dump and Load tasks in the package with an order of Convert 1 --> Dump and Load 1 --> Convert 2 --> Dump and Load 2, etc. This results in the same out of memory issue any time I enable it to run more than 1 convert/dump & load task in the package - they are not running simultaneously, but rather sequentially. I don't understand this. In looking at the logs, it looks like it's creating the temp files for the first import and adding them into BPC, and then creating the temp files for the second import but then fails prior to the second load. This will work for a smaller data file, but shouldn't the memory be released after the task and allow subsequent tasks to complete? Any recommendations on how to address this and automate this load?

Quick update - I created unique ssis packages for the distinct imports and called those packages from within the initial package that is kicked off through Data Manager, and I ran into the same out of memory issue. Any ideas, suggestions, or help would be greatly appreciated.

Error while running the SSIS package from SQL DB to excel file - export option

I have 4.6 million records in my sql db and i want to copy this into a excel file. for this i went to the db and rt click and export to command and started the ssis package running. but after
few minutes, it throws me an error that "error in transferring data into excel file."

You need to split your data and create (at least 5) worksheet targets.
For example if you have a ROW_NUMBER column you can use for instance a
Conditional Split for something like:
ROW_NUMBER % 5 == 0 for Case 1 (excel 1)
ROW_NUMBER % 5 == 1 for Case 2 (excel 2)
ROW_NUMBER % 5 == 2 for Case 3 (excel 3)
ROW_NUMBER % 5 == 3 for Case 4 (excel 4)
ROW_NUMBER % 5 == 4 for Case 5 (excel 5)

Do you have any Date conversion functions in your Oracle datetime fields? I did run into a similar issue when we upgraded the oracle client and the provider started to decipher the metadata of the date columns. The SSIS metadata conversion for the date
columns yielded dates that were not valid. I had to update my queries to use the TO_CHAR conversion to bring it out as a string and then save it to the date field.

SSIS Package developed in SQL Server 2008 R2 Using BIDS 2008 is not working in SQL Server 2012

I am working in a Product based company.
We have given a Pre-requisites to our customers like SQL Server version should be 2008 or later.
I have developed and deployed my SSIS package in SQL Server 2008 R2 with BIDS 2008.
I have used "Script Component" in my package.
We will take only DTSX package file to the customer places and run using SQL Agent Job daily.
Who are all(Customer Environments) using SQL 2008 or R2 my package is running fine.
Who are all(Customer Environments) using SQL 2012, I am facing the below issue
The component metadata for “Script Component, clsid {874F7595-FB5F-4OFF-9BAF-FBFF825OE3EF}” could not be upgraded to the newer version of the component. The PerformUpgrade method failed.
Still the same package is running fine for some of the customers having SQL 2012.
I am getting the above error only for few customers.
Can someone please guide me how to proceed on this. Is there any solution to go without upgrading the package to SQL 2012. Because we need to maintain only one package for all customers

I am just using the script component only for generating Identity column purpose. I will get the maximum count from the table and using this count value as Input (JurisCount in my below code) for script component and increment the counter for new records.
Finally I am mapping the Script component output value (JurisKey in my below code) to Key column of the table. That's all I am doing with Script Component.

Scheduling SSIS packages through SQL Server Agent

Hello All! I have an SSIS question for BPC 7.5 installations across multiple servers. I have been rebuilding all my DTS packages over to SSIS and trying to learn this more dynamic environment. Currently I have saved a copy of all my rebuilt packages from BIDS (on web server) to the MSDB located on the SQL server. I can manually run packages from Integration Services and load data successfully. When I try to schedule packages based on the packages stored in MSDB, I get failures. The errors initially suggested I was passing over a NULL password, so I adjusted the protection level of the package to ServerStorage, as opposed to the default setting.

It appears I cannot execute any of the BPC custom tasks in the SSIS packages. Any recommendations?

Thanks, James, your point is well taken. Originally we were importing packages into the file system, but had the same results when scheduling.
