Combobox won't function

okay..here is the setup:
i am working on a project that has separate swf files serving as different sections (students, faculty, etc). for each section, on the first frame i have a combobox that lists the different values within that particular section. when a user clicks on the value, it takes them to the specific frame within that swf.
there are two problems:
1. when the user selects a value, everything functions correctly but an error is thrown that says:
TypeError: Error #1009: Cannot access a property or method of a null object reference.
at fl.containers::BaseScrollPane/drawBackground()
at fl.controls::List/draw()
at fl.core::UIComponent/drawNow()
at fl.controls::List/scrollToIndex()
at fl.controls::SelectableList/scrollToSelected()

2. when i click on a button that links to each section from the cover swf, i am directed to the desired page but when i click on the combobox, the same error is thrown and the combobox does not function at all..
any ideas??

thanks for the response. however, when doing that, i received the same error message.
everything works fine if it is referenced from a swf other than the cover.swf. i dont understand
how everything functions as it should unless it is referenced from the initial swf. each swf has
a different combobox with different code.

"game controllers" won't function

Asking help for this problem everywhere, figured I'd come to MSI because it is their fault.... Anyways I have a USB gamepad which I'm trying to connect to my computer. This gamepad needs "game controllers" in control panel to function. Everytime I try to use "game controllers" it whines about how my gameport drivers aren't configured properly and it completely won't function. Now I don't need a physical gameport, I just need whatever gets "game controllers" working. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. Windows XP PRO SP2.

unplug ANY other USB devices you have(except mouse/keyboard but I'd try that as a last resort too) and then try the gamepad again.
I've got a Microsoft forcefeedback wheel that won't work on my SIS motherboard box till I unplug the Microsoft gamepad first.
There's also a Bios setting in "integrated Peripherals" menu to enable "all legacy devices" although I'm not sure this does anything after Windows starts up...Just an idea.

Go to Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs (Win XP) or Programs and Features (Later)
Remove all of these items in the following order:
iTunes
Apple Software Update
Apple Mobile Device Support
Bonjour
Apple Application Support
Reboot, download iTunes, then reinstall, either using an account with administrative rights, or right-clicking the downloaded installer and selecting Run as Administrator.

Should you get the error iTunes.exe - Entry Point Not Found after the above reinstall then copy QTMovieWin.dll from:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Apple\Apple Application Support
and paste into:
C:\Program Files (x86)\iTunes
The above paths would be for a 64-bit machine. Hopefully the same fix with the " (x86)" omitted would work on 32-bit systems with the same error.

Imac 2009, 10.7.4, track pad cursor locks up and won't function

My cursor has locked up the past few days.
It won't function at all except to move around. I've had to do a hard shutdown and restart to get things working again. Any suggestions?

Select  ▹ System Preferences ▹ Bluetooth. Select the device in the list on the left, then from the action menu (gear icon) below the list, select Update Services. If there's no improvement, delete the pairing from the list and recreate it.

AC411 pairs via Bluetooth to my Latitude E5440 but won't function as it says it needs a driver

I have a 6-month old Dell Latitude E5440, running Windows 7 Professional Service Pack 1, 64-bit.
My partner bought a brand new Windows 8 computer from Dell last week and AC411 speakers with it. They work fine together.
I would like to play music from my Latitude. The speakers pair fine on Bluetooth (although the icon shows up as a headset not as speakers) but the device won't function as it tells me I need to install a driver. However the Dell website says there is no driver available.

Hello Chris, and thank you for your answer. But no, that didn't work. I'd done all that already, in fact.
My laptop is paired already to the AC411; my Dell laptop knows there is a Dell AC411 and it's listed under my devices as a Dell AC411 under the category of Bluetooth headset (with a headset icon). But its status is that it needs troubleshooting and when I click on 'troubleshoot' it tells me that it needs a driver but can't find one. And then when I look on the Dell website, it says there is no driver.
And just to be clear, there is no evidence that the headset icon shows the device is enabled, and there is no check box to listen to music.

I Spilled water in my iMac wireless keyboard. It won't function. Can it be repaired?
I Have replaced the batteries. No help. Suggestions? Or do I need to replace it?

I suggest you replace it. Liquids almost certainly damage a KB and repairing it is not an option.

I was having trouble purchasing candy crush updates (for no apparent reason, as it has been fine previously).   I thought perhpas I needed to download some new software and promptly started the IOS 6 update.   It installed and then asked me to complete the final few steps by signing in with my apple id.   When I try to do that it says "it cannot connect to the server".   I have tried turing it off and on and over riding it, but it won't let me do anything at all now on my ipad mini.
Can anyone help?   I literally can't function!!!!

You can't override it no matter what you do. The device has to connect to the server to complete the iOS update. You could try rebooting the iPad and see if that lets you connect to the server after it starts up.
Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider if it appears on the screen - let go of the buttons. Let the iPad start up.
If that will not work, you can try connecting to iTunes on your computer and see if the activation will complete. Sometimes when thes activation issues arise, you end up having to restore the device again, but first things first. Reboot and see what happens.

HP Envy 14 Beats Edition - Windows 7 Boots But Won't Function - Recovery Won't Work

I have been trying for two days now to recover this laptop. For some reason it will not fully boot Windows 7. I have tried using F11 recovery, HP Recovery Disks, and a Windows 7 Install Thumb drive. In each case I get past the "Starting Windows 7" screen. With any of the HP versions of recovery listed above I get to a blue screen with a white sunburst at the top. I get a functioning mouse icon (i.e. moving the mouse moves the cursor) however nothing else works. With the WIndows 7 install thumb drive, I get past the language selection screen to "Install Windows 7 Now" screen. If I choose the recover option the text disappears and it permanently hangs, if I choose "Install Windows 7 Now" it changes to "Starting Setup Now" and then hangs at that point.
Clearly the issue appears to be a harddrive read error. I've started pressed Escape and run the diagnostic tests. All show harddrive errors. If I launch into the BIOS and run the Harddrive test there, I get an error saying the drive is Full. If I run Ubuntu's Disk Utility and Self Test, I get "Current Pending Sector Count" errors showing 27 bad sectors.
What I really don't get is that the HP recovery CD hangs at the same place as the harddrive. I'm certain I could format the harddrive with Linux, but then my understanding is that all bets are off with the HP recovery software.
Oddly enough, I can boot the computer from a unetbootin Live Ubuntu installation and it works just fine. I can see the harddrive and have successfully backed up all my data. I can see 4 partitions and their contents (System, NTFS, Recovery, and HP_Tools). Ubuntu works like a champ from the thumb drive (I'm posting this in Firefox from the laptop now).
If it were my laptop I'd install Ubuntu and throw the Windows 7 stuff in the trash. However, it's my wife's and she's not at all keen on using Linux (I tried that once before when Linux was much too immature).

Solved my own problem.
Booted from Linux-live thumb drive to gain access to drive. Backed up files.
Used Linux Disk Utility to format C: partition.
Used Restore discs I previously made to restore system to factory.
Seems like another case of I was lucky enough to have a sector go bad that contained some very important Windows 7 file so the drive suddenly became unwritable by Windows. Linux could mount and read/write the drive, but Windows refused. Some days I hate computers.

Air won't function after detaching from display

Hi,
I attached my MacBook Air to a monitor today. I forgot to put it to sleep (as recommended) before detaching the connecting cable.
Went home. Just opened it up and can't get it to function. The desktop comes up but the track pad movements aren't recognized. However if I run over the dock, the icons pop, as usual.
Anyone know how to make it work again? (I'm going to go get the magic mouse that it was connected to earlier today and see if it's still connected.)

Mute switch won't function since ios 7 upgrade

I am using iPad 4 wi-fi only (not 4G) version. Since upgrading to ios 7 the mute switch no longer works. When activated a message says "ringer off". I assume that is a function for iPhone. Has anyone had the same problem and knows a fix?

Yes... First of all, iPad does have a ringer on/off, as it can receives FaceTime calls, iMessage and so on.. In iOS 7 , you don't need to use that switch.. You can easily use the mute button from the control centre..just swipe from the bottom... Personal experience, I use that switch to lock screen rotation. I hope this is useful for you..

Help! Gadgets won't function on FF home page but do in IE. Why?

I'm trying to load a gadget from igoogle into my ff home page. WHen the gadget appears I keep getting and error: can't load LM data, and other error codes. This has only happened with the last severql weeks. I am lost in thrying to get the language gadget to work in FireFox. It works on IE. And on some web pages the wedges won't load. Help please

Clear the cache and the cookies from sites that cause problems.
"Clear the Cache":

Extigy Master Knob won't function?

Hello everyone,
I recently bought the Extigy from a friend. It was just the model, power supply, and usb cable (no driver cd). I hooked it up the day I got it, everything was greant, and the master volume knob could control the volume bar in Win XP. Now, for some reason, it won't respond at all. Does anyone know a solution to this type of problem?
P.S. When my friend turned his master knob, a green bar would show up on his desktop to tell him where his volume level was. I don't have that. Could these 2 things be connected?

Unfortunately Adobe technical support wern't the most helpful people in the world. They asked me to send numerous emails to them but none of them got through (a problem at their end I suspect) so support was very limited. They said they would call back but never did...
The College have decided to purchase it but they will be getting it through their reseller company RM (Research Machines). They package the software up and ensure it's working before they hand it out.
Sorry I can't help anybody but Adobe support don't seem too bothered about helping out...

Widgets won't function

when i open dashboard, none of my widgets show up. when i press the "+", all my widgets show up on the bottom, but when i drag a widget from the menu along the bottom to the upper area on which it's supposed to function, the widget shows up for a second, ripples the grey background, then goes away.
i just updated to 10.4.4, which i was hoping would help, but didn't. i also tried erasing the widget files in my library - no dice. i'm not sure what to do. any suggestions?

I need some help on this topic as well. My daughter has an apple ibook G4 laptop and when we try to open her widgets they do the ripple thing and then close back up. I tried zapping the PRAM and they would open back up for a little while but then they would go back to just doing the ripple effect and close back up again.
Any help on this would be great!
