! comes up next to about 1/4 of my songs and they can't be copied or played

I just upgraded to the new iTunes7 and while I can now "see" in iTunes7 all the songs that I previously had in my older version iTunes library, about 1/4 of them now have a ! next to them and those songs can't be played in iTunes or copied to my new IPod. When I click on one of those songs I get an error message that says "original file could not be found." While most of my music library is in a separate partition on my hard drive, some songs were copied in from CDs (I think directly into iTunes ???) and others I used Nero Wave Editor to copy songs from old vinyl records. I can't find those CD or old vinyl songs anywhere on my hard drive !!!!! Anybody have any ideas on how to solve this????? Those vinyl records are now gone........

I had the same problem - 1/2 of my tunes have the ! - even all of my tunes purchased from iTunes! When I upgraded to v7, iTunes also made copies of many of the titles; the files were not copied, just the titles, with a new date of todays date as the date added to iTunes. We need to get this fixed!!!

Hi- apparently I also had a similar moment of madness and thought that 'freeride games' would be fun. Well, so much for that! It added a ton of things to my tool bar, I would like to uninstall it, any suggestions for this one?

If you log out of your apple ID on your iPad and let someone else use it and they use facetime. How come it shows my facetime history and not theirs? I do not want them to have access to my history. How can I prevent that and they can see their own?

Settings -> FaceTime, right?
My guess would be though, that the FaceTime history is stored locally on the device, so anyone using it will see the entire device history (I cannot imagine that FaceTime uploads the history to an Apple server anywhere - I'm sure it is just logged locally on the device - based on my iPhone and iPad show completely different histories, for example).

The exclamation point means itunes cannot find the music file in order to play it. There are several possible reasons for this, including but not limited to changing the name or location of your music library/songs, or storing them on an external hard drive or device that is not currently attached. If your country's iTunes Store allows you to redownload purchased tracks, I'd delete your current copy of the track and try redownloading a fresh one. See the following document for instructions:

Go to the Project Library View and select your project.
Then FILE/DUPLICATE PROJECT and give the duplicate a name like "your name - part 1".
Then duplicate it again and give the duplicate a name like "your name - part 2"
Now you can open "part 1" as a project and delete everything that is in part 2.
Open "part 2" as a project and delete everything that is in part 1.

When I try to import songs/playlists to my iPhone 6, grey spotted circle shows up next to most songs and they won't play. Help

I just set up my iPhone 6. I made a full backup from my 5 to iTunes. Everything was backed up and transferred except any of my music. Simple enough to do it manually, I thought and tried. But when I transfer a playlist from iTunes to the iPhone most songs show up in light grey with a dotted circle next to them once they are on the iPhone list and they won't play.
There are lots of threats about grey dotted circles from the past. Does anybody know what the issue is? I have the newest iTunes version and IOS version (8.02) for the 6. Why is this happening and how can this be fixed? This is all my music on my mac and most of it was on my previous iPhone 5, so why won't it play on the 6?

I was asking a little fast. It did indeed not work for a little while (up to 20 minutes) but once I started chatting with apple support it started resolving itself. The grey dotted circles mean two things. 1) the computer was taking some time to transfer the songs onto the phone (quite some time for some songs) but then they appeared on my phone. and 2) those songs I purchased, I can listen to on my phone and my imac, but they will remain unable to play (grey dotted circle) when I look at them on iTunes in my iphone playlist. So, I can play it on regular itunes or on my iphone, but not in my iphone folder on itunes. I hope that makes sense.
So problem got resolved for me. I hope this helps.

Ipod touch 4th gen missing about 12 songs and I can't get them to sync back.

After syncing my ipod, about 12 songs are missing and won't go back on. I've tried to take my music off my ipod and then put it back on but those songs are still missing. All the songs on my iTunes are checked. The music settings in iTunes for iPod says sync entire library and that's marked. And the songs are still on my iTunes... just not my iPod.

Try unsyncing and resyncing all of your music. To do this, remove the tick mark next to Sync Music from under the iPod's Music tab and click Apply in the lower right hand corner. This will remove all tracks from the iPod. When it has finished, re-apply the check mark and again apply the changes to resync all music back over to the device. Make sure that Sync Entire library is still selected and that Sync only checked songs and videos is NOT selected.

Apple Has no information about my ID that I purchased Logic-Pro9 with. and they can not even send me an e-mail to reset my PW. t

i have a late 2006 20" imac and have been recording some covers and have been able to find canastas (solos). i made sacrifices to purchase apps with an ID for years. I left to colorado and found work at venues i had send my demos to. when i got back home my house had been broken into and much of my studio gear had been vandalized beyond repair. i did not have a firmware password set on my mac and the derelects stole and deleted work related information. i called the people at mac and they told me that they did not have any information that my ID was not on any of their files and had never even been created. today i created a new ID. How am i going to get back all the number of purchases i made especially Logic Pro 9 and the other apps back as they now have been upgraded when apple does not even have an ink mark from my old ID? i use a Focusrite 12 channel interface with a 6 channel xenyx with 48 phantom and since all my originals can't be number one's my Americana recordings have some very profound grooves. I am 53 yrs. old and play all the instruments except the bass lines. These phatos that destroyed many of my archives are muncho malo! i started on the kit in the 3rd grade and started playing behind some big names at 13. Over the years most all of the other basic instruments kept making it easier for me to survive at what ever the venue called for. i never gave up the music for the show. After a gratuitous 40 yrs. of dedication and 34 yrs. of a solid marriage. i am a loyal dog. i can only feel better if the folks at apple will allow me to redownload with my new ID to keep producing. IF not i will have to bow my way out of college since that is my only way i have been able to afford my out of district tuition.

Since ITunes updated, most of my songs in the library have a "!" next to it and they are unable to be located. They are not in my recycle bin and I do not have a back-up. Is there anything I can do to get them back in my library? They are not purchased, so I can't get them back from what I have read.

Is the media still on the computer?
If it is, simply point iTunes to where the media is.
If it is not and the content was acquired from iTunes, simply download it again.
