Compare programs in different systems

I'd like to know if there is an easy way to compare SAP programs across systems. It is the same program, but I'm NOT talking about version management in the same system with the nice compare that it offers. We specifically would like to use something for e.g. RFC connect to the other system and compare content of a specific program in both.

Use ABAP Splitscreen Editor (SE39) to compare your program in one system with the other. For example, compare the program in the Development System with that in the TEST System. Do this from the Development System. A RFC needs to be defined to the Test/Other system. On the ABAP Splitscreen Editor, click on the button Compare different systems and give the RFC destination of the TEST/Other system. When on the Editor, click compare, to compare the programs.

Unable to compare the same program in different systems

Hi,
We have a Development & QA system (apart from Production). Now for a program that is in both, Dev & QA, I wanted to compare them using SE37. I clicked on "Compare Different Systems" button. Now I selected the program from Dev for Left-Justified & from QA for Right. When I hit the "Display" button, it gave me the following error message:
Error remote access: Error during the retrieval of the logon data store.
Can anyone help me with this?

Hi Jack,
I went to SM59 & double clicked on my RFC (that I thought would work). It took me to the RFC destination config. screen & it showed me the following message:
User password invalid for identifier /RFC/---- (see long text)
( the dotted lines denote the RFC name )
It's not shown with a red cross mark. It's shown with a Green tick mark. So how do I correct this now & be able to compare the proram? Please let me know.

Compare programs for 2 systems ?

Hi,
is there a standard SAP functionality (program/tcode) that can compare the source code of a list of programs (optionally with related includes) on 2 different programs ?
So a kind of remote comparison for multiple programs ?

Transaction SREPO is a good step in the right direction but needs a few more days of coding to make it a lot more useful - anyone who has tried to use it will know what I'm talking about.
If you like what you see in transaction SREPO, I suggest you take a look at the free apps in Salt (saltapps.com) especially the Matrix app - it allows you to compare whole landscapes simultaneously, drill down and also analyze the new namespaces without the long wait, it also provides the transport information and relative version so that you can see why the difference is there and what to do to fix it.

How to check variants in programs existing in different systems ?

Hi,
i am using same program (coding might not b same ) in two different systems(fsd and bwd) .
one program has two variant and other has only one, now when we execute the main program which is controlling the program in different systems then it shows dump erroe due to different variants or different output.
we want to catch that dump error.
Please provide us some code for that.

actually the dump error i am getting shows LOAD_PROGRAM_NOT_FOUND
and CATCH_EXCEPTION is not working for that.
i dont have to remove the errors , i just want to handle thm.

Check the version in Utilities -> version -> version management in both servers is one option.
Another one is using SE39 transaction.

I know with T-Code SE39, we can compare ABAP program in 2 different systems, Likewise is there any Transaction Code where I can compare pricing procedures in 2 different system. or compare 2 different pricing procedures in same box.

Dear Madhu
May be you can try with this.
Go to V/08, select your pricing procedure and execute. From top menu bar, click on Table View --> Save. Again from top menu bar click on Table View --> Print so that you can see the overview of that pricing procedure.
Now parallely you can open another screen, select another pricing procedure and do the same process as above.

Smartforms have different FM,Program Name in different system

Hi,
I have created few Smartforms in our DEV system & imported to QAS & PRD.
Here I found the Smartform - Function Module, Programs names are different in each system.
Smartform: Z_SD_INV_LETTER_V3
Sys                     Function Module
DEV                       /1BCDWB/SF00000006
QAS                       /1BCDWB/SF00000002
PRD                       /1BCDWB/SF00000002
On import the changes are reflected correctly in the corresponding Function Module & programs
in each system.
1. I want to know why there is a change in version of the Function Module/Program in each system.
2. How are the changes been applied on importing to each system as the version differs.

From my investigation found that few tests smartforms was created in DEV system, which was the cause of the problem. My Smartform present versions across the landscape looks as follows:
Smartform: Z_SD_INV_LETTER_V3
Sys     Function Module
DEV    /1BCDWB/SF00000006
QAS   /1BCDWB/SF00000002
PRD    /1BCDWB/SF00000002
In order to maintain all the function module name to be the same across the landscape, is there anything that can be done
in DEV as follows:
Smartform: Z_SD_INV_LETTER_V3
Sys     Function Module
DEV    /1BCDWB/SF00000002
QAS   /1BCDWB/SF00000002
PRD    /1BCDWB/SF00000002
Like something I could reset the internal number range for the smartforms & load the smartform again and activate or so...?. Please let me know...

i want to compare same object in different systems
example:
same transfer rule in BID to be compared with the one in BIT/BIP
in these kind of cases, pls help me on how to do the comparison.
as i have to do some enhancement in BID and release that changes to BIT/P. but while manually checking i might also miss out any important changes which might create issues.

and in that transaction u need to click "compare different systems" button and then give the correct
RFC Destination..(Logical Destination)
and u can compare the programs with in your system also,but it is mainly used to compare the programs in development and production systems

Different output in different systems

I have a question that when I write the following LOC in my smart form the output is correctly visible in the development system (my system) but not in the user system (a different server):

Now instead of the code line mentioned above in italics I write the following code-linethe problem goes away,I did that to recrify the problem but dont know the reason for it:

1.Can anybody please explain me the reason for exactly what happened before and after theis change is made?
If the output is say as '180' 'currency' which we see on our systems.The user sees it as '18000' 'currency'.

Whenever currency is involved, the system determines the number of decimal places in the output according to the currency , say C, If the contents of C exist in table TCURX as currency key CURRKEY, the system sets the number of decimal places according to the entry CURRDEC in TCURX. Otherwise, it uses the default setting of two decimal places. This means that table TCURX must contain only exceptions where the number of decimal places is unequal to 2.
The output format for currencies does not depend on the decimal places of a number that may exist in the program. The system uses only the sequence of digits. This sequence of digits thus represents an amount specified in the smallest unit of the currency in use, for example Cents for US Dollar (USD) or Francs for Belgian Francs (BEF). For processing currency amounts in ABAP programs, SAP therefore recommends that you use data type P without decimal places.
I think that for the currencies you use, there is an entry in your TCURX table and none in your client end, may be thats why this addition of two zeros occur.

How to make this function module as RFC to get data from different system?

I am trying to use following function module . This function module is used to copy data from one cube to another cube within same system however I need a this should happen across two different system. How can I use this function module to make it remote call to different system and do the same function what it is doing ?

let us say you want to copy the data of a cube in system A to a cube in system B .
1) create a RFC function module in system B (in this function module call the function module RSDRI_CUBE_WRITE_PACKAGE to update the data), this RFC function module should have same parametersa as RSDRI_CUBE_WRITE_PACKAGE .
2) write a program in system A .. read the data from the infocube using the function module RSDRI_INFOPROV_READ and call the RFC function module in system B that you have created..
for the details of the parameters to pass to these two function modules use the RSDRT_INFOCUBE_DATA_COPY and get the required code

Merging a developer program into a system.

    Using Sharepoint 2010 Server with the UI you have web applications.
    Eventually you may want to add more applications but this time
you may want to create a web application developed by writing a program.
    Is it possible to add a web application developed and written by a program
to the Sharepoint system that was created using the UI web application and
if so how would you execute a web application written developed by writing
a program from the system created using the UI?

I think you are refering custom application targetted for SharePoint, correct me if I am wrong.
There are different approaches for developing SharePoint application, usually if high degree of customization is required, we use Visual studio for creating site definiations, web parts, master pages, workflows, REST API, CSOM, JSOM, SSOM etc.,
If there are simple changes, then our choice of tool is SharePoint designer, which is used for master page customization, workflow development, list / content type customization etc.,
few cosmatics changes are done using SharePoint OOTB.
So it depends on level of customization you are looking for, here are few links which will help you to get started -

Passing parameters through Single JCo to different systems

I have created a web dynpro application and integrated into a portal, which access R/3 using a JCo destination and retrieves the data using a BAPI.
But I want to integrate the same application into another portal, which would access the different R/3 system having the same function module.
Is there any way for switching between two Jco destinations as the same application could be made to work for both the systems?
Please suggest me as I am stuck up with this issue.

You have the same application but want to connect to different JCos.
I think you will be creating two WD iViews for the same application. In the application properties do the following:
Use the following url parameter to the application URI
sap-wd-arfc-useSys=<DEFAULT_SYSTEM>:<SUFFIX_OF_MAPPED_SYSTEM>
In the default system you can change your JCo destination name

Thanks for your response.
And one more problem we are facing.
Now our application needs to be deployed on different systems with different JCo connection names, for this we have passed a parameter Sap-wd-arfc-useSys in the URL defining the new Jco Connection name .
for example we have created the application on Jco connection name ABC_DEST and we have passed the parameter value ans ABC_DESTLHP in the URL.
This ABC_DESTLHP JCO Connection is defined on the that particular system where we have deployed the application.
It was working fine When we were using one application and one component But it is not working with case of two applications and two components.
We are using inter applciation navigation to pass the parameters from first application to second application.
The parameters being passed are captured from the URL and that is creating the problem as the URL is being changed dynamically when capturing the parameters.
So Please let us know is there any way we could define the Jco Connection name in the program itself.
Or else if you could provide me your number that would be great help (If you are in US or India) .

Does it at least do whole table comparison between two systems (as I don't have 46C to look at) ? If it does, try to create a new comparison; this time, after you key in the table name, it will lead you to 'Selection by / Manual input' screen. Click on object overview button. On the following screen, check mark on the table, and click 'Comparison' button. A logon screen (for remote system) will pop up for you to key in uname / pwd (if you don't already have uid/pwd set up on RFC between the two systems). Once you key it in, it will ask if you want to restrict the comparison (for ECC 60 anyway). This is where you would have the opportunity to key in the rule name.
Again, 46C may act differently ...
