Compare two sequences loaded in a C# code module.

Hi,
Is it possible to compare two sequences loaded in a C# code module using functionality from the TestStand API?
Best regards

  • Use the same code module for several steps in the sequence

    Hello All,
      I have been trying to set up a sequence that uses the same code module for all of the steps in the sequence, but am having trouble referring back to it when I need to send it commands.  I have gotten as far as calling the VI in a new thread so that it can be run asynchronously.  I can run the simple sequence and it will indeed open the VI, and move on to the next step.  When I close the VI manually from the front panel, the sequence in TestStand completes, as expected.  So it appears that I have that much working.
      My question is how to call the separate thread from the main sequence or other sub sequences when I need to edit the parameters.  If I insert an Action step, I am required to select a VI file, but from what I can tell, it opens a different instance of the file, and does not provide an interface with the other instance running asycronously.  My next guess was to use a Statement step, but I was not able to figure out how to configure the lookup string to call the VI parameters.  Beyond that, I'm not sure how to proceed.  Please advise.
      My intention is to start the code module VI (asynchronously), run several different subsequences within the main sequence that call that same VI and edit it's parameters, close everything and report on the results.  If I am misunderstanding how TestStand is supposed to work, please let me know.
    Thanks,
    GSinMN
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    What I do is use a Queue to send data to the asynchronous VI.  So it can run and do whatever, but also recieve the commands from the queue.  I use an Action Engine that holds the queue reference and sends the commands.  So you really just have to call the Action Engine from your sequences.
    There are only two ways to tell somebody thanks: Kudos and Marked Solutions

  • Is it possible to launch the SequenceAnalyzer from a C# code module in a Custom TestStand Editor

    The Sequence Analyzer is not available in the Custom TestStand Editor Mode GUI.
    Is it possible to add the Sequence Analyzer to a menu in the custom TestStand Editor?
    Is it possible to launch the sequence analyzer from a C# code module, this method is then called from a sequence call back.
    Best regards
    Patrick

    From the TS Help:
    TestStand Sequence Analyzer Application
    Select Start»All Programs»National Instruments»TestStand»Tools»TestStand Analyzer or run <TestStand>\Bin\AnalyzerApp.exe to launch the stand-alone TestStand Sequence Analyzer application. Use this application to analyze projects outside of the TestStand Sequence Editor.
    The sequence analyzer application window contains the following tabs:
    Files—The files and directories to analyze.
    Rules—The rules to use for analysis. Use this tab to enable, disable, and configure rules for analysis in the current project.
    Options—Contains the project options that control the analysis and determine whether the sequence editor automatically saves the current analyzer project.
    Messages—Contains the list of messages for the most recent analysis of the current project, sequence file, or workspace file. The sequence analyzer overwrites the content of the Messages tab each time you start an analysis session.
    Analysis Summary—Contains a summary of the most recent analysis of the project.
    Command-Line Usage
    You can use the following command-line syntax to open an analyzer project:
    AnalyzerApp.exe "C:\My Documents\MyProject.tsaproj"
    CTA, CLA, MTFBWY

  • I am trying to debug HTBasic code modules while using Test Stand, how do I refresh the subs that have been loaded in memory?

    I am writing an application for Test Stand, we are using modules previously written in HTBasic. Whenever I make a change to the code and try to re-run the program, it just runs the old version of the code. The only way to refresh the code is to close Test Stand down and restart it. Is there a way to flush the memory of modules?

    Hi,
    I haven't used HTBasic with TestStand 2.0.x, but I'm assuming that you have the steps in the sequence set to unload when sequence file is closed (look under the step properties -> run options tab).
    If you're still prototypeing, use the File->Unload all modules option. Have a look at page 4-3 in the user manual - it refers to .DLLs, but I'm assuming the HTBasic falls into the same methodology.
    Altering the run options from it's default will affect the memory useage and speed of execution of the test sequence. Have a look at page 5-22 (page 158 in the .pdf) in the TestStand user manual - basically, if a code module is loaded into memory already, when the step gets to execute, the loading overhead is already done. If it stays in memory after this, then it's avail
    able for next time (quicker second run 'cos it doesn't need to load again. However, the balanceing factor is the sequence is useing more memory at a time, by haveing the module ready.
    My usual setting is to use Load dynamically, and Unload after sequence executes. I use this is only during development however, as this is not the most speed friendly, but a compromise so that if I don't call a step I don't load it, but if I do use a step, I'm sure it's free again when I need to modify the .dll modules I create. If you have a look on page 5-7 (143) of the user manual you can set the sequence file to effectively over-ride each step's load and unload settings - useful if you want to revert back again later. If you use this, you'll see that the top two run options for the step are greyed out, but if you set it back with the sequence file options, they do revert back to their original settings.
    Hope that helps (and works!!)

  • ??how to compare two resultsets??

    hi all!
    i need to find out whether two resultsets contain the same data.
    the only way i know how to do it in java is to put them into a while loop and fetch the contents first and then compare the contents.
    but is there an easier way to compare resultsets?
    does anyone know how to compare two resultsets without extracting the data?
    the code example here executes two identical queries on an oracle database, compare and print the resultsets.
    public ResultSet getResultset(String query)
    ResultSet rs=null;
    try { rs=Stmt.executeQuery(query); }
    catch(Exception e) { e.printStackTrace(); }
    return rs;
    public static void main(String[] args) {
    ResultSet r1=null;
    ResultSet r2=null;
    try {
    database db = new ddatabase();
    r1=db.getResultset("Select 'name' from person");
    r2=db.getResultset("Select 'name' from person");
    if (r1 == r2) {
    System.out.println("ok");
    System.out.print(r1);
    System.out.println();
    System.out.print(r2);
    else {
    System.out.println("not ok");
    System.out.print(r1);
    System.out.println();
    System.out.print(r2);
    jdbc.cleanup();
    catch(Exception e) {e.printStackTrace();}
    and here is the output:
    F:\java rs_compare
    not ok
    oracle.jdbc.driver.OracleResultSetImpl@4413ee
    oracle.jdbc.driver.OracleResultSetImpl@786e64
    as you can see the resultsets are different though the data they contain have to be the same.
    so the 'if(resultset#1 == resultset#2)' does not work.
    thanks for any help
    best regards
    5ithl0rd

    Don't cross-post.
    I'll bet ResultSet implementations don't override equals() to provide "deep equals" behavior, in which case it'll be no different than using "==".
    It's a bad idea to compare two ResultSets this way. You'll have to load both into objects or data structures and compare those in a "deep" way.
    Besides, the ONLY way two ResultSets could be different, given the same query, would be if there were multiple clients that could write to the table between queries and change the underlying data. If your two queries are sufficiently isolated, I'd say that the same query will return the same ResultSet.

  • Compare two similar objects

    Do you know about any possible Java bugs with JDK update?
    In my case, my code stopped working.
    Here is what I have. There are two similar objects, but Object 1 has key, and Object 2 (same as Object 1) has no key. I need to compare both, and if they are equal, I need Object 1 to assign key to Object 2.
    It worked before. How I can get around.
    Please help me if you can.

    Let me change the question:

  • Compare two Java Objects without Comparable / Comparator

    Hi Friends,
    I would like to compare two java objects (lots o attributes) without using Comparable / Comparator.
    Any suggestion/sample code would be helpful.
    Thanks,
    Sachin

    I suppose you could design another feature to compare Objects... but that would involve a design process, so asking for sample code is definitely premature. And as EJP says, what would be the point?
    At least that's what I would answer if this was one of those stupid interview questions.

  • How can i compare two excel files with different no. of records.

    Hi
    I am on to a small project that involves us to compare two excel files. i am able to do it but am struck up at a point. When i compare 2 different .csv files with different no. of lines i am only able to compare upto a point till when the number of lines is same in both the files.
    Eg. if source file has 8 lines and target file has 12 lines. The difference is displayed only till 8 lines and the remaining 4 lines in source lines are not shown.
    Can you help me in displaying those extra 4 lines in source file. I am attaching my code snippet below..
    while (((strLine = br.readLine()) != null) && ((strLine1 = br1.readLine())) != null)
                     String delims = "[;,\t,,,|]";
                    String[] tokens = strLine.split(delims);
                    String[] tokens1 = strLine1.split(delims);
                   if (tokens.length > tokens1.length)
                    for (int i = 0; i < tokens.length; i++) {
                        try {
                            if (!tokens.equals(tokens1[i])) {
    System.out.println(tokens[i] + "<----->" + tokens1[i]);
    out.write(sno + " \t" + lineNo1 + " \t\t" + tokens[i] + "\t\t\t\t" + tokens1[i]);
    out.println();
    sno++;
    } catch (Exception exception)
    out.write(sno + " \t" + lineNo1 + " \t\t" + tokens[i] + "\t\t\t\t" + "");
    out.println();

    A CSV file is not an Excel file.
    But apart from that your logic makes no sense.
    If the 2 files are of different sizes the files are different by definition, so further comparison isn't needed, you're done.
    If you want to compare individual records, you need to compare all records from one file with all records from the other, unless the order of records is important in which case your current system might work.
    That system however is overly complicated for comparing CSV files.
    As you assume a single record per line, and if one can assume those records to have identical layout (so no leading or trailing whitespace in or between columns in one file that's not in the other) comparing records is simply a matter of comparing the entire lines.

    Okay, say the above is my table, how do I compare two cells in a row for two numbers? Say I wanted to find out if row A2 contained a 7 and a 28?
    "A2" is an address for a single cell, not a row. Its current content, assuming no empty rows above or empty columns left of what's shown, is "Jan 4, 2011". Perhaps you mean Row 2, or the range B2:G2.
    Assuming that you want to know 'if' (or 'how many times') two specific numbers occur in the range of cells from column B to column G in a single row, COUNTIF is the function you want.
    Place the two target numbers into cell I1 and J1.
    Enter the formula below into I2:
    =COUNTIF($B2:$G2,I$1)
    Fill the formula right into J2, then fill both down to row 4.
    You'll get a count of the occurrences of each number.
    If you want only a "Yes" (both numbers appear in the range) or "No" (neither of the numbers appear, or one appears but not the other), use this variation (in I2 or J2):
    =IF(AND(COUNTIF($B2:$G2,I$1)>0,COUNTIF($B2:$G2,J$1)>0),"Yes","No")

  • Compare two rows in same table

    Hi,
    I want to compare two rows (some columns) in the same table, and if the data in the data columns is different, I want to pick the latest one. The table is date tracked. For instance I have an address table with different addresses for an employee with effective date. I want to be able to pick the latest row if the postal code is different for the 2 rows. Is this possible in sql. I can do this in Pl/sql, but dont want to use it. Eg
    address_id, postal_code, person_id,last_update_date
    123, pn123,1,12-JAN-01
    124,pu124,1,13-JAN-01
    I want to be able to retrieve just the second line.
    Any help is appreciated

    Your question is a little confusing because you are using terms like 'date tracked' and 'effective date' without explaining exactly what your definitions of those terms is.
    Why do you want the latest record ONLY if the postal code is different? What if the address is different? Then which record do you want?
    Why not just take the record for each person/company that has the latest date? If the data is the same then it doesn't which record you get so the one with the latest date will do. And if the data is different taking the one with the latest date gives you the latest data.
    The classic definition of effective date is 'the date the information becomes effective'. Information with a given effective date is NOT in effect before that date and is SUPERCEDED when data is entered with a later effective date if the actual date is later than or equal to the effective date. Using your data

    124,pu124,1,13-JAN-01
    >
    The first record IS NOT effective for dates prior to 12-JAN-01. In fact for a query looking for data prior to that date there isn't any data.
    The first record is also NOT effective for dates on or after 13-JAN-01. Only the second record is effective.
    If you added a record for 14-JAN-01 this record would not be effective until on or after that date (i.e. not for another 4 1/2 months).
    So for the classic definition of effective date the query needs to provide the AS OF date to use to obtain the data. If, as in your system, you are not allowed to create records with dates in the future and you just want the latest record then you can just select the record with the MAX(myDate) value for the given person_id, address_id or whatever your key values are.

  • Compare two VIs in LabVIEW Full Development System

    I am using Labview 8.6 Full Development System. I want to compare two VI's, what is the best way to do it? I am  using TortoiseSVN source code control software.  I found some VIs (vi_diff.vi) in this forum. But this VI will work only in Professional Development System. Because this vi will use LabVIEW8.6\project\procmphier.llb\CMP compare two VIs.vi. This vi will work only in professional system.
    How can I compare two VIs in my current LabVIEW system. Pls give suggestions.
    Thanks
    Nesara

    If you pay more for the PDS than the FDS, you want more features. The diffing is one of those. So you either get the upgrade $$$. Or you do it manually.
    Manually, I go for a complete VI documentation (I don't remember the menu entry) of one of the VIs and have that open as pdf while going through the code of the other.
