Complete disaster and can't even contact support

I hope someone patient enough to read this can help me. I recently purchased an ipod touch second hand. I have the black box and original instructions - tiny tiny faded instructions.
Please bear with me, I know this is long.
1) whenever I play a song, it stops at the end of any single track. Anyway, after about a week of poking around I manage to get it to play more than one song. I think I'd tried the same solution a couple of times in the past but the screen is either very slow to react or else it jumps around a lot and I don't know what it has accepted as my input.
So far so good - its finally playing more than one song.
2) The ipod battery dies, so I recharge it. Once it has recharged I switched it on, and guess what, it only plays one song again.
This time I go into settings, and hit the restore to defaults option in the hope it might fix my song problem for good (and maybe even the issues with the screen, right?). Unfortunatley now everything seems to be in Chinese - how can that be the default?
3) I decide to purchase an upgrade, register with itunes and pay my 2.99. Guess what, after paying I can't see the download button. So I get iTunes to run a diagnostic and the final test fails and says that my ipod can't be seen - this is strange as when I fire up iTunes it shows me all the tracks on the ipod!
4) I try and contact technical support. However, I need my serial number. Yes, yes according to the site it so easy to find. Except I can't use the ipod menu because I can't find the about screen in chinese. Although the serial number is visible on the back of the ipod.....it is so so tiny I have to guess at the number. Clearly I must be blind, as I can't get the number correct and progress onto contact technical support.
PLEASE HELP - Anyone got any helpful ideas (short of thowing the thing out of the window)? I have never had an apple product before, and I can't currently understand why everyone else raves about them.

it is so so tiny I have to guess at the number. Clearly I must be blind, as I can't get the number correct and progress onto contact technical support.
Try using a magnifying glass.
I have never had an apple product before, and I can't currently understand why everyone else raves about them.
Next time you might consider buying a new one, or least buying one from a place where you can take it back if it does not work right.
Where do you live? Is there an Apple store nearby?

    I have tried to update my former iWork with updates from the app store. Mavericks refuses to open them. Mavericks tells me "Can't open, because they are from an unknown source". My iMac tells me that Apples app store is an unknown source.
    Just can't believe how Apples software developers could get permission to turn somethiing rally, really good to this really mediocre version pages 5. The opposite to development if you ask me.
    What were they thinking?

    Yesterday I bought a new galaxy s5 as a replacement for so iphone 4.  I did not turn off iMessage before I activated the new phone and sent in the old one.  Now I can't receive any text messages from people with iphones.  This is more than half of my contacts.  I also can't even contact apple because to do so I have to have the serial number of my old phone.  What am I supposed to do?

    I was looking around, because nowwhere before does it mention %temp%\AdobeDownloads\ Based on the error that comes back, I decided to turn on hidden files in Windows (Just type Hidden Files in the searchbox) and go see this AdobeDownloads folder. It is not there. In other threads relating to this issue, they talk about files in the
    C\User\Username\Appdata\Local\AAMUpdater\1.0\ folder.
    One of the logs here gives the following errors:

    It is not strange that the AdobeDownloads folder is not there, since the Adobe Application Manager never has a chance to start. This is NOT a notwork error in the classical sense because I am able to download InDesign and all other Updates from Windows, visit every website.
    Don't get me wrong, I fully realize that VM's are not supported. But I can name you 20 consultants who ALL run in a VM. Heck, even I ran this SAME Windows 7 version, with Parallels 7 AND 8, half a year ago, untill I had to start fresh 3 weeks ago. I CAN download InDesign, install it and activiate it with my Creative Cloud account, but I can't update them. The error is above.

    Let me try again, Chenks. I'm a technical person by profession, and so can get deeper into things like this, but I have not attempted to use these methods of communication in the past. I'm trying to get some feedback to Apple on their worsening a product and really messing with existing customer configurations. I'll try to break things up below.
    1. Configuration:
    Existing Apple TV and Mac Mini configuration in place since December 2010.
    Three Apple TVs, one in Family Room for music and movies, one in Master Bedroom for music and movies, the third one in the Living Room for music only.
    I'm using iTunes as library. (Probably an obvious statement, but wanted to mention that.)
    2. Pre 4.2.1
    No problems at any location since configuration finalized and all equipment installed in December.
    Since December, Family Room entertainment equipment was updraded to a new Sony Bravia 3D, and a new Pioneer receiver. The Master Bedroom still has the original Toshiba 32HLC56 TV. That unit has only one HDMI input. I'm using the built-in speakers. This TV/Monitor is about fives years old.
    3. Problem
    I updated the software in two of the Apple TVs to 4.2.1. I updated the Family Room device and the Master Bedroom device. I had not updated the Living Room device.
    After updating to 4.2.1, the Family Room equipment works fine. That's the location with the newer TV and receiver.
    The Master Bedroom has different problems with different movies: e.g. "The Little Mermaid:" video, no audio. "The Lion King:" movie wont start at all.
    Additionally, in the Master Bedroom some movies work fine, other movies start but immediately go into pause mode. Pressing pause button on Apple remote will not initiate start of movie, screen does "flicker" for a moment but movie does not start to play, showing only the last frame that had been streamed.
    4. Not really a problem for me.
    Fortunately for me, I had not updated the Apple TV in the living room so I used it to troubleshoot the problem. Initially I thought it was a defective Apple TV in the Master Bedroom. I took the unit to the Apple Store in town and they exchanged it for me. I brought the replacement Apple TV home but I did not install it immediately.
    While testing the Master Bedroom set up once again to make it was working for our afternoon movie watching, I was again reminded that a software update was available. That message came up because it was the unit I had brought over from the Living Room. I proceeded to update the Apple TV to the new software version (4.2.1).
    As soon as I "updated" the software in the Apple TV to the new 4.2.1, the same problems manifested themselves. At that point I suspected that the problem was with 4.2.1, and not with the hardware.
    I called Apple Support and went through a series of troubleshooting techniques. We tested the Apple TV with the new 4.2.1 installed in it. This is the unit which originially in the Living Room. Under the direction of the Apple TV support technician, I used the Family Room gear and the Master Bedroom gear to try and isolate the problem to hardware or software.
    We eliminated the following as potential problems:
    a. TV speakers in the Master Bedroom
    b. HDMI cable
    c. Ethernet connection
    5: Conclusion:
    Fortunately for me, again, the Apple TV that the Apple Store had given me that morning still had 4.1.1. So I installed that unit in the Master Bedroom and everything started working normal again.
    6. Side note:
    An interesting observation: In early March I copied several movies from the Mac Mini to my iPad and some to my wife's iPad. All movies worked fine on our flight out and while we were away.
    My wife recently (about a week ago) updated the software in her iPad. and now some of the movies that played just fine on her iPad are exhibiting the same problems as the Master Bedroom TV when it is connected to an Apple TV with software 4.2.1.
    Apple has been trying to fix some problems in 4.2 when it released 4.2.1. I make that observation based on recent articles I found on the web. Most likely the Apple engineers were trying to fix things in one place and broke them in another.
    Clear as mud, isn't it?
    7. In closing:
    I'm good to go, I just need to remember not to update the software in the Master Bedroom Apple TV. I want to keep that unit at 4.1.1. It's possible that Apple might come to the realization that they hosed things for some of us. Because I do have three units in my home, I can experiement with the other two units should a "fix" come out. I can then update one of the two devices, connect it to the Master Bedroom TV, and see if the problem was corrected. If not, I stay with 4.1.1. But I'm not convinced that Apple will see this as their problem, it's always easier to point elsewhere.

    Liquids and electricity don't mix. Any hope of surviving a spill is based on immediately turning the device off, getting it as dry as possible, and then letting it have a lengthy drying period. Some people recommend putting it in rice to absorb moisture though I think that has its own danger. At this point your only solution is to take it to an Apple repair center and see what it will cost to replace the logic board - and to hope that was the only damage.
    Sorry I couldn't provide better news. Check your home owners policy to see if this is covered (and if it is worth using). I have a specific rider on my policy for electronic equipment which includes full replacement value with no deductible.

    My account got canceled for no reason, and can't get to support... Called 800-422-3623, was told they will call back in 1 hr 15 min, got the call and then was put on hold for another 18 min. Can't get help anywhere!!!
    BTW, the account was canceled because adobe messed up the billing system early October, and decided to charge me FIFTY+ times in one day. Screwed up my bank account at BofA too - alert everywhere and all my other transactions were blocked. Adobe promised me that it's been fixed and gave me 6 months free. Now I got the account canceled and can't get a hold of them. This is unacceptable.

  • Problem with iTunes purchased track.  I purchased an album from the store and downloaded.  I contacted support as one track was defective and had this one track setup to re-download, which was successful.

    I purchased an album with 11 tracks from the Store.  When the download was complete, I edited the name to make it easier for me to find. I then synced my iPod and iPad with the new album.  However I found that one of the tracks was defective and after writing to the support community, a second download was setup and this fixed the bad track.  I was surprised that when the track downloaded, it went to the track with the new name.  However it works perfectly on my computer.  For some reason, the iPod and iPad have synced a few times but the track for this album on these is the original track with the defect and this has not fixed, though there have been multiple times that it has synced. The laptop with its corrected track works fine.
    The message from support told me to be sure that the software on my laptop was the current version and I did correct this before getting that corrected download.  However I notice that my iPod says that it has the latest version and won't check for an update until 2/24.
    Can you help me figure this out.  I thought if I could delete this track off the iPod and iPad that it would sync the correct version, but I can't see how to delete these.

    Assuming you are in a region where you are allowed to redownload your past music purchases, delete the problem tracks from your iTunes library, close and then reopen iTunes, go to the iTunes Store home page, click the Purchased link from the Quick Links section in the right-hand column, then select Music and Not on this computer. You should find download links for your tracks there.
    While downloading select Downloads in the left-hand column and make sure Allow Simultaneous Downloads is unticked.
    If the problem persists, or that facility is not yet available in your region, contact the iTunes Store support staff through the "Report a problem" links in your account history, or via Contact Support.

    I had my personal Apple ID and I made an second Apple ID for my business. I logged into my iphone6 with that second business apple ID - this apple ID has no credit card information at all. then I tried to log into my personal previous apple ID - this account was locked for 90 days and I can't even re-download my previous purchases anymore. There was a NO NOTIFICATION before I made a second account about this situation and I really do not know what can I do next.

    iMessage and FaceTime not working on Mac Pro and a message stating to contact Support came on with a verification code.  It was working on 8/29 but stopped on 8/30.  When I called support to even speak with anyone they wanted $19.  I don't want to pay $19 for an Apple problem.  I cleared my key chain, also reset my apple ID password but still not working.  Works fine on my iPhone.

    There is no official public documentation of that error message as far as I know, but according to reports, it can mean (at least sometimes) that the same Apple ID is being used with the iTunes Store or one of the other Apple content stores, and the payment method is invalid. Sign in to the store and review your account. You do not, of course, have to provide any billing information to set up an account to use only with iMessage, as it's a free service.
    Otherwise, do what the error message tells you to do. According to reports, you won't be charged for the call if you select "Apple ID" as the product you need support for, and cite the customer code in the alert as the "validation code" to the support representative.

  • How to restart an iphone that has completely died and can not be recharged

    Today for some reason my iphn4S completely died and I can not turn it on or even recharge it. It was not flat so I dont know why it died. I can not even start it through iTunes. Any comment on ways to start it or is it stuffed? It is only 6 months old.

    You are both right - I had to plug it in and then by holding both switches for longer than normal - it finally started. I have now rushed to back it up with all my valuable info and am still following up with the tech support as it was really warm and did not have any aplications running, so I doubt that it is going to be reliable from now on - and I can not trust it ....

    What the **** is going on with Apple?
    I can't sync my iPhone and MacBook Pro. Sometimes is discovers both devices but then fails to sync. Other times neither recognises each other even when they're both in the list. As part of Mavericks, I'm supposed to be able to share Maps with other devices, but it won't recognise my iPhone. Why the **** did I spend nearly three dollars on Apple products when I now have to go back to my PC for basic features. I've spent hours on the phone with Apple about problems, and while the service might be immediate and very couteous, most the time they don't understand what I'm talking about or they haven't got a solution. With thousands of features on the iPhone and Macbook Pro, I only wanna use about 2 dozen.
    Here's some of the things I don't even bother with now -
    iTunes - Can't delete recent plays, can't stop it playing from that same list the moment you plug it into a plug and play, so huge and cumbersome with too many features, but just try playing music only. I don't want album covers or info downloaded from the Net. I don't want all the songs segregated into albums and the like. I play songs and then try to find them in Recently Played and they're not even there, but songs I've play over a year ago and which I don't want arer still stubbornly there and can't be deleted. Media Player is the same. I'ma prefoessinal musician and sound engineer and I've never known anyone to have used more than 10% of the features in iTunes. Who the **** are the Apple tech heads developing products for? Scientific Audiologists? Pathetic program, don't even use nowadays, but it still has the ability of popping it's ugly head up from time to time.
    Audio - I run Logic Pro X and EVERYTIME I connect a new audio interface, I have to go to Preferences>Sound and change the Input and Output. EVERYTIME!!!!!!!!!! Sometimes when recording, I have to the correct the sound preferences 40 times a day, I've counted them on a number of occasions. Apple is meant to be THE audio expets and yet I'm back using Cubase on my PC or even sometimes having to go back to my old iMac and Logic Pro 9!! Along problems I'm experiencing with Logic Pro x, Apple now wants me to return my MacBook pro to them possibly for up to six weeks. This is after I've transferred my whole business on to the MacBook Pro and literally can't do without it.
    Contacts - they don't sync with iCloud, other devices, Skydrive or any other synced app, although, sometimes they do.
    The Dock - some of the Apps in the Dock when already opened won't open with a click or double click. I have to right click on the icon, Show All Windows and only then can I open the App. On my PC, I open all programs in "their dock" with one click.
    Let me explain what will happen now. Nothing. I can't afford to give my MacBook Pro to Apple to fix or even call them up again about these probs cause it takes HOURS and HOURS and HOURS and HOURS. Last time I rang them, it cost me about $300 in lost productivity.
    I think that when Steve Jobs passed away, Apple died along with him.

  • IPhone 5 storage completely full and can't figure out to fix the problem?

    I got the iPhone 5c in August of last year. Previously, I had owned a flip-phone and only a flip-phone, so you can imagine that it was a big change. Though I know there is so much more that it can do (and so many things I have yet to discover), I mostly appreciated the phone for its photo and Internet capabilities. Only a few weeks after I got the phone, I went to a concert and, as you can imagine, the videos took up a lot of space on my phone. I also have a bad problem with saving screenshots, so I quickly filled up space with pictures. Once I realized it was reaching an overwhelming amount (and space was getting limited), I backed-up my iPhone to iTunes on my computer and deleted around 800 pictures. It barely freed up any space. I did this once or twice until one time I tried backing it up again and it would not let me, saying that there was not enough space to do the back-up. I don't quite know how that works, but after that, I just ignored my problem. Well, then my space was dwindling down close to zero. I deleted most of my apps, though it did not free up much at all because 11.4 GB of my 13.2 GB phone is from Photos/Videos.
    My phone reached 0 bytes available in, I'm guessing, November of last year? To my surprise, I could still use some of the features on my phone. Internet, screenshotting (though I could no longer take pictures), and some of the apps (though they often would not load fully). This didn't last for long. One day, I wasn't able to open hardly any of my apps. Then it transitioned to my Internet closing out of itself every now-and-then. Well, currently (and I've been having these problems consistently for the past month or so), I can not open any apps. If I try to go to a website, it closes out of itself almost every single time. I never know if my texts go through because it never finishes the sending process (sometimes people say they get them, sometimes they don't). I cannot receive texts. I can't even try to delete my photos/videos because when I click "delete", it goes to my Home Screen (again, it closes out of itself) and when I check, the pictures/videos are still there. For the past month or so, the only thing my phone can do is call. Which, you know, defeats the purpose of an iPhone. Basically, I have gotten myself into quite a conundrum.
    Is there a solution to my problem that does not involve restoring it to factory settings?

    Thank you for your reply! I just tried importing my pictures again. iTunes gave me the same message - that the storage was too full. I looked under summary, and I don't quite exactly know what usage numbers you are looking for, but it does say it is over capacity by 190.8 MB. However, when I plugged in my phone to the computer, it started to import pictures automatically into Dropbox. I just recently got Dropbox, so I did not have it the other times I tried to import. I managed to get the pictures onto my computer and, by some miracle, was able to delete a couple hundred from my phone. It also let me delete the long videos on my phone, which I've been trying to do for months. I went to my Storage and it now says I have 6.6 GB free (which was so amazing to see that I had to take a moment). I can take pictures now. I quickly updated a few apps and the space is still good. However, there are some apps that it still will not open (as in I open it up, then one second later it closes out). These seem to be the social media apps-- Twitter, Instagram, Facebook. Should I just delete them, then re-download? That will not mess anything up, correct? So far, Safari is working, which is a major relief.
    How would I go about syncing things like contacts?

  • I can only make outgoing calls. My home button is only working for voice control and won't take me back to menu. I am only in the calling screen and can't even shut off. What do I do?

    I am freaking out! I am a college student and owner of my Iphone 3Gs. I just got it this past August and I don't understand what is wrong.     Try a reset by pressing the home and sleep buttons until you see the Apple logo, ignoring the slider. Takes about 5-15 secs of button holding and you won't lose any data or settings.
