Compressor not compressing 3.0.5

I've recently run into compressor issue (could be due to the last time I did a software update). I've looked through a ton of posts and they don't work even a reinstall doesn't resolve the problem.
I open compressor 3.0.5 drag my .mov file to compressor select any present, click submit, open batch monitor and all it says is processing, unknown time remaining and just sits there doing nothing.
Compressor works on my laptop (PowerBook G4 1.5 GHz mac osx 10.5.8) but not on my Imac.
Any suggestions why it is not processing anything?
Here is my log:

3.5 may work, but the preference panel doesn't - which makes the setting up of clusters a real PIA - need to learn terminal setups.
My recommendation is if you want to run compressor on 10.10, spend the few bucks to run C4.

  • Compressor not  compressing time line

Let's see if someone can help , since the last update to 6.03 from 6,02 compressor will not compress anything submitted from final cut pro. When submitting final cut created the tab with the long number but as soon compressor is fully loaded the tab in final cut disappeared and when hit submit in compressor compressor just sits and nothing happens. I have tried to export as quick time first and put that in compressor and that works and sometimes does not work
    any idea

thanks for getting back but unfortunatley that does not work either. Again I bring the self contained file in and do all the steps to compress and compressor just sits there nothing happens.

  • Compressor not Compressing

In Compressor, I submit my batch and it just says waiting.  There is nothing cued before these jobs and nothing is running.  I suspect it is secretly running an old canceled job, but can't tell.  I've seen it do weird stuff like this before.  But I have no idea what is going on.
    Thanks,
    Alex

Duh, just fixed it by resetting background processing.  I guess I'm just talking to myself today.

  • COMPRESSOR will not compress DVD files adequately

This is a weird one.   I'm using compressor to encode files for DVD studio pro.  However, no matter what file I plug into compressor and no matter what DVD compression settings/data rates I choose, compressor will not compress the files small enough to fit on the DVD.
    Any ideas?

Yeah, it should fit no problem.
Try a CBR setting at around 7mbps... it will compress much faster and it will be of higher quality than a VBR setting.

  • Emails are not compressing

I experience a problem with the emails, I am using BIS on a BB curve, carrier: vodafone romania. sent emails are not compressing, so that an email without attachments has 4 kb  - as much as an computer sent email. when I attach a picture or two the email has even 2 MB (two pictures attached). what do you think this problem might be?
the custumer care operator said that the outgoing emails are not compressed, only the incoming ones - is this true? anyhow, the vodafone romania custumer care knows nothimg about BB solution.
p.s. before receiving service books, when playing around with composing emails (without BIS beeing activated), I`ve been announced that the pictures in the attach "may be reduced in size".after BIS beeing activated, I am not announced anymore.

  • How to -not- compress images on import?

    Hi all,
Sorry if this has come up a gazillion times before, but I cannot seem to figure it out.
I want to create a simple PDF containing some images and two videos for laptop/beamer presentation.
Whatever setup I do with the Distiller presets regarding importing images, Acrobat always compresses the imported images, leaving them less than crisp.
I just want them (JPG's) imported and shown -as is-.
Is this impossible in Acrobat, or am I missing a very obvious setting somewhere deep in the Distiller options?
    Cheers for any replies,
    rob

    Sorry if I didn't make myself clear(er).
If I create a PDF with Acrobat, it will -always- compress the images.
After reading up on the manual, it seemed the Distiller settings are responsible on how Acrobat  behaves with importing images.
I created profiles with Distiller to not compress anything, and choose that as printersetting for a new PDF.
It still compresses my images, it's annoying!!!!
My workaround for now is to create a OO Impress Presentation, export that to a PDF, open that PDF in Acrobat, add my videos (as Impress can't) and save that to a new PDF. This works as I want it to work (no compression on my images).
I hope this helps explaining it a bit more, and thanks for any insights.

  • I'm running OSX 10.6.8. I have final cut studio 6.0.6. The compressor aps won't load. I get a compressor not loaded properly pop-up. I have loaded twice and still no compressor.

I'm running OSX 10.6.8. I have final cut studio 6.0.6. The compressor aps won't load. I get a compressor not loaded properly pop-up. I have tried reloading but still no compressor.

Start by repairing permissions. Then remove Compressor using this utility:
FCS Remover - Uninstall Final Cut Studio, Final Cut Pro, Motion, Compressor, Soundtrack Pro, Color, DVD Studio Pro, LiveType, Cinema Tools
Then reinstall and try to load Compressor. If it fails, post the error statements here.
    Good luck

  • Catalog backup not compressed with Lightroom 6

Lightroom 6 is said to compress the catalog backup into a zip file.
When I try this with a small test catalog it works fine.
However when I backup my real catalog (75 000 photos, 7.5 GB) the file is not compressed. LR6 behaves exactly as LR5.
I tried several times but it is always the same.
Did someone meet the same problem ?
    Any advice ?
    Thanks.
    Michel (Paris)

Thank you Ian for your answer.
However I don't think I misunderstood how Lightroom backup works. Maybe I was not very clear in my explanation (English is not my mother tongue !).
I run a test with a small catalog (test_backup.lrcat), which I created just for this purpose. In this case the catalog backup is compressed in a zip archive
However, when I open Lightroom with my actual catalog (lightroom-6.lrcat), then the catalog backup is not compressed (it's just a copy of the catalog).
I don't understand why LR6 does not compress the catalog backup in the last case.

Hi I have downloaded compressor4 from Apps store but it won't open - says compressor not properly installed. The reason for my purchase was that compressor 3 stopped working. I tried to reinstall from the FCP disk but it was 'greyed out'. I followed suggestions from the apple site to clear various library files - mainly relating to Qmaster but this didn't make any difference, an iwonder igf perhaps this is the reason for the compressor 4 programme not working. Thanks
    Tom

You need to export a self-contained video from FCP 6. Import the self-contain video into Compressor 4.

  • QUICKTIME EXPORT FOR iPOD NOT COMPRESSING

I'm having a QT problem. It seems no matter what size QT file I want to compress into an iPod file, it either stays the same size or gets larger. Ever since the QT update to 7.1.3, I've been having strange things going on with my QuickTime. I'm also having a problem Exporting a QT file into a WMV file through Flip4Mac plugin. Anyone else having compression problems like the iPod exporting? Or can anyone suggestion why my QT Pro is not compressing QT clips into iPod format??

Is there a way to force Quicktime to use Multi-Pass encoding with an iPod-compatible h.264 Configuration?
Yes. In QT Pro (or application with QT Pro routines access) simply use the "Movie to MPEG-4" export option and restrict the Profile to "Baseline" and set mode to "Best (multi-pass)" in the advanced options window. However, be advised that this workflow is limited to the original H.264 settings and will not produce a 640 x 480 "LC" profile/higher data rate iPod compatible movie. Where "LC" files are required, try using either MPEG Streamclip (my preference) or ffmpegX application for conversion. Both allow the multi-pass option.
The second Pass doesn't double encoding time, but it does result in a much more usable file with a lower bitrate (and lower filesize).
True, however, depending on content and possible custom video data rate user settings, multi-pass conversions can become less stable and monotonically exceed qunatimization limitations making the movie unsynchable to iPod or even unplayable in QT/iTunes players. If this happens, you can switch back to the single-pass mode which is much more stable and clips the data rates much more efficiently to conform to target average. Basically, think of the multi-pass mode as an attempt to acheve "constant quality" (which somestimes fails) and the single-pass as a "constant data rate" (which varies the quality to maintain stability) mode.

  • Compressor 4 not compressing the video, only audio.

    Hi,
I send my video to Compressor 4 from Final Cut Pro X for encoding into MPEG-2 for a DVD
Compressor encodes the audio but fails on the video.
Before sending my video to compressor I deleted all render files and re-rendered the video, doing that made no difference.
Have tried a number of time but can not get it to encode both video and audio.
Has any one got any idea's what the problem is?
    Thanks
    Barry

My guess is you're not doing anything wrong - at least not in Compressor.
I'm not a big fan of the Send-to-Compressor workflow – whether it's from X or the legacy version. And I imagine that were you to export a Quick Time movie, using Export Media, and brought that file into Compressor, you'd get the two elementary streams that DVDSP wants. Try that with a short test project.
But that doesn't explain why you're getting these fails from X and you're able to get successful jobs completed from 7. My experience with the new programs hasn't all been clear sailing either. When I've run into oddball behavior, excessive beachballs, etc., with one exception one of three things has worked to restore order: trash preferences (I use Digital Rebellion's tool), repair permissions, delete render files. Once, none of that worked and I had to reinstall.
    Good luck.

  • Compressor not working but i'm not running FCP

Hello, had a search for this but couldn't see anything on this particular topic.
My MacBook Pro has started running very slowly. I have just upgraded to Photoshop CS4 and the comp is running really slowly but when i've looked in activity monitor i can see that Compressor TranscoderX is not responding. I have no idea why it is running as i'm not using final cut at the same time as photoshop and when i export .mov files from ps i don't ever compress them.
Anyone any thoughts? I don't actually need compressor as far as i know so should i just lob it in the trash.
    Any help gratefully received, cheers.
