Computer cannot communicate with 8600 plus

My Officejet 8600 Plus has been working fine on a wireless network for about a year but after restarting the computer yesterday morning, I keep getting the message "...cannot communicate with the printer".  I've tried all suggestions listed below to no avail.  I can access the printer's ews page from the computer and I receive my apps over the internet nightly. I've Ran the network test from the printer and everything passes.  The network configuration page shows the printer to be connected and ready with the correct ip address.  I ran the HP print and scan doctor and it shows everything is working.  I also ran the Windows troubleshooter and it showed no problems with "the printer is ready".  I've disconnected the router, printer and restarted Windows.  I removed the printer via the "devices and printers" window as well as the HP software.  I reinstalled the software, connected the printer and ran the wireless setup.  I updated the ip address on windows.  All to no avail.  Any help would be appreciated.

Rats - sounds frustrating - and you have done your homework, too!
OK... Ideas:
There is a new firmware update for the printer

Try a static IP address on the router side
If you have a Notebook, try this Hard Driver Reset on the Notebook side:

  • Computer cannot communicate with Blackberry

I'm trying to use Blackberry Link to transfrer the Contacts currently on my Blackberry to my Sony Vaio computer. However, when I try to access the tab for my Blackberry Q10 within Blackberry Link, I get a message indicating that it "Cannot Communicate with Device". It offers me two options: to try Reconnecting -- which doesn't work -- or Reloading. However, if I choose Reload, it says that it will restore the factory settings. Elsewhere, it says that if I restore the factory settings, I will lose all my data -- which, of course, would defeat the original purpose of being able to transfer the data related to my Contacts to my computer. So what can I do?

Currently, when I attach the Blackberry to the computer via USB cable, the computer seems to recognize the Blackberry, at least in terms of emiting a sound that would normally signal a new connection. However, that seems to be about it. I can't seem to make other connections -- other than that, in Windows Explorer, I can see what appears to be a connection to the Blackberry. There's Drive C and then the Blackberry (as what apears to be a separate drive, like any USB-connected device).
However, when you click on that drive, you get a message saying that it's empty. In addition, you can also elsewhere see the Blackberry listed under "PC Settings/Devices" beside the message "RIM Network Device -- Driver Error").
Previously -- a few days ago? -- I could see the Blackberry and transfer files back-and-forth between the computer and the Blackberry (usually via copy and paste).

  • Computer Cannot Communicate with Printer... but sometimes it can?

My computer does not seem to be communicating properly with my printer. It worked fine for a long time, and nothing has changed with the set-up recently. Computer and printer are connected via wireless internet. Sometimes restarting the computer or turning the printer off and back on will do the trick, but sometimes not, and I certainly can't count on doing that every time I need to print. Sometimes I get the error message and cancel the print, other times it won't seem to print, but will print hours later. Please help with this issue! Thanks!

Thank you for taking the time to respond - I appreciate it! I will try these recommendations and see if that solves the issue.

Welcome to Apple Support Communities. We're users here and do not speak for "Apple Inc."
Some basic printer troubleshooting steps before worrying about a printer driver:
    1. Have you tried turning the printer off and back on?
2A. Is the printer attached with a cable?
If yes, have you tried unplugging and re-plugging both ends of the printer cable?
If that does not help, can you test the printer with another cable?
2B. If your printer is not connected to the computer with a cable, have you tried restarting your printer (assuming wireless connection)?
Have you tried restarting your wireless router?
    3. Have you tried restarting your MacBook? (Be sure to save your work first.)
    4. Does the printer have ink? (Doesn't usually generate a 'communications error' though)
    5. Have you updated OS X or the program you're trying to print from recently?

  • Itunes cannot communicate with my iphone

I installed an update and then I tried to restore and i received a message that my iphone (4s) cannot communicate with itunes. (on mac) Any suggestions?

    Hello there kellynocca,
Given what you are describing I recommend starting here with the iOS: Troubleshooting USB connection article: http://support.apple.com/kb/ts1286.
Once you determine that your computer has a USB 2.0 connection, use the following steps to troubleshoot the connection between the device and the computer. Test after each step:
Update to the latest version of iTunes.
Plug the device directly into a high-power USB 2.0 port on the computer. If possible, use a USB port on the back of the computer.Avoid plugging the device into a keyboard, display, or standalone hub. The USB ports on these accessories may be low-power or only offer USB 1.x connections.
If you are using an accessory, remove the device from the dock and connect it to the computer using only the Apple USB to Dock Connector cable. If you have access to additional Apple USB to Dock Connector cables, try testing with another if the first one doesn't work.
Restart your computer and device. To restart your device:Hold the power button until "slide to power off" appears. Slide to power off your device. When it is off, press the Sleep/Wake button to turn it back on.
Disconnect all USB devices from your computer, except for your keyboard and mouse. Then reconnect the iOS device. If the issue is resolved, reconnect other USB devices, testing after each connection.
Another article describes what to do if you are using Windows and see an unknown error containing "0xE" when connecting your device.
IF that does not get your device to communicate with iTunes correctly I recommend restarting both the computer and the iPhone.
iPhone, iPad, iPod touch: Turning off and on (restarting) and resetting
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1430
As a last resort I would recommend backing up to iCloud, and restoring the device.

  • ITunes cannot communicate with iPod

I just bought an iPod nano, but when I connect it to my computer, it says that iTunes cannot communicate with the iPod to initialize the iPod, and that I should reinstall iTunes.
I have already uninstalled and reinstalled iTunes about 5 times, using the directions on the support webpage. I've checked my drivers and everything.
Also, no matter what, whenever I click on the iTunes icon to start it, it always takes 3-5 minutes for the iTunes program to pop up.

    okay.
sometimes in earlier versions of itunes (itunes 6.0.x), that message could be caused by a snarlup in the registry keys on the PC. (plausibly in this case something like that might be related to the problem with the administrator account.)
in the 6.0.x days we could get some relief from that sometimes by applying the markinmadison technique:
markinmadison: Re: "The software required for communicating with the iPod is not installed..."
(in your case, rather than reinstalling itunes and the ipod updater, you'd just be reinstalling itunes. the ipod updater is no longer a standalone application ... itunes 7.0.x itself is used for updates and installs.)

  • Cannot Communicate with Datasocket Servers on Private Networks

I have not had the opportunity to confirm nor deny the reports I'm getting about an application that I've built and distributed, but let me give you the details and I'd like to know if anyone has heard of this and might be able to give me some words of wisdom.
I have a rather simple program that uses a datasocket server to publish data that multiple client computers read (the clients are ONLY readers, and the host is the only writer).  The computers are all connected to a 4-port router, and the computers within the network can ping each other, FTP files back and forth to each other, and can also share Windows shares (they're all WinXP computers).  These computers have their firewalls completely turned off, and the router has no built-in firewall; my contacts have tested 4 different models of routers and get the same behavior on all 4 of them.
Anyway, on a closed network where the router is NOT plugged into the internet, the client machines cannot communicate with the Datasocket server via dstp (or any mechanism thereof).  To communicate with the datasocket server, I use the raw IP address of the computer, like:  dstp://192.168.1.100/namespace/variable.  When the software attempts to make the connection, errors saying the datasocket server/variable does not exist spew out.  Remember that machines on this network can ping each other, communicate with each other via windows shares, and can even FTP files back and forth.
Once a live internet connection is plugged into the router, everything seems to spring to life.  All communication with the datasocket server immediately begins working (when it is attempted to connect again).
I initially thought the problem might be related to a stale DNS server entry in the network configuration, but even after resetting the router (so that the router has default values and points to itself for DNS lookups) the problem still exists.  They've rebooted the computers connected to the router NOT on the internet to make sure all the new network values are taken, and still no luck.
Has anyone run into this and found a workaround?  Unfortunately where we need to set up this network is not near a live internet connection, and we're beginning to be SOL if we cannot find an adequate workaround.
    Thanks!
    -Danny

    Danny,
This definitely seems like an issue with your router/configuration -- unfortunately after searching around I don't have much to offer, but here are a few thoughts --
Is it possible that the router is somehow dependent on its uplink port being connected? Have you searched the router's configuration utility/KnowledgeBase for anything that sounds like this issue?  Could it be possible to disable this?  Is it possible that some application, whether on the router itself or an application on your client PCs is constantly trying to ping something on the internet and hogging bandwidth because a connection cannot be established?
I was a little confused by these two statements which seem conflicting:
"When the software attempts to make the connection, errors saying the datasocket server/variable does not exist spew out."
"I am usually able to connect to the datasocket
server, but my data coming from the datasocket server is VERY slow and
very spotty.  My data becomes stale and is not refreshed any more."
Are you still getting errors as mentioned in the first statement? If not, what changed?
One thing that may be of use is to use a low level traffic monitoring utility like Ethereal and compare packet types and volumes when the Internet is connected and when it is not.

  • Cannot communicate with scanner. Cable may be disconnected or scanner may be turned off...I

I have a MF6590 mutifunction printer.  It had been working fine until last week when I got the error message "Cannot communicate with scanner.." I tried uninstall and reinstall te driver, I tried switching to a different USB port, reboot my PC, turned on/off the printer.. hopped on one foot...nothing worked.  Anyone has any suggestion?

    Hi bmaskell.
I will be glad to assist you.
Since the issue began after updating the Windows 7 operating system, I recommend that you uninstall and reinstall the Canon drivers.  Please follow the instructions below:
    1.  Unplug the USB cable from the printer.
***Please leave the USB cable disconnected until you have uninstalled and completely reinstalled the drivers.  Connecting the printer before going through the "Setup Wizard" may cause the Windows operating system to install a generic driver for the printer.***
     2.  Select [Start] and [All Programs].
     3.  Select the [Canon] folder.
     4.  Select [MF4100 Series] and then uninstall.  Repeat the steps for the [MF Toolbox].
    5.  Restart you computer.
Leaving the USB cable disconnected, please download the driver from the Canon website using the following link: http://www.usa.canon.com/cusa/support/consumer
    1. The site will automatically detect your operating system.
    2.  Next, select [Drivers] and the file [Windows 64bit] imageCLASS MF4150 MFDrivers (UFR II / FAX / ScanGear).
    3.  Click "I Agree - Begin Download".
    4.  Save the file to your computer.  Once the download is complete, click "Run".
    5.  Click "I Decline - Go Back" on the Canon site and select [Software] and the file [Windows 32bit & 64bit] Tool Box Ver.4.9.1.1.mf16.
    6.  Save the file to your computer.  Once the download is complete, click "Run".
    7.  Close the Canon window and go to the location on the computer where the files are saved, usually [Downloads].
    8.  You will see two icons with the name MF4150_MFDrivers_W64_us_EN_2.exe.  Double click on the yellow folder icon.  In the folder you will see two files with the name "Setup".  Double click on the "Setup" that has the type [Application].
    9.  The "MF Drivers Setup Wizard" will open.  Please proceed through the setup and restart the computer.
    10.  After the computer restarts, please connect the USB cable to the computer and allow the computer to finish the installation process.  Once the printer is listed in [Devices and Printers], right-click on the icon and select it as the default printer.  Please open a document on the computer and print it out.
Please follow steps 7 and 8 to install the Canon MF Toolbox 4.9 software.  Once the software is installed, please follow the steps below to complete a scan:
    1.  Press the [SCAN] button on the control panel of the printer and place a document in the feeder.
    2.  On the computer, open the MF Toolbox program.
    3.  Select the [PDF] scan function.
    4.  Click the green [Start] button in the PDF window.  The scan should begin.
I hope this information is helpful to you.  Should you need further assistance, please contact us at 1-800-OK-CANON (1-800-652-2666).

  • MG3250 Printer throws up error message - Scangear cannot communicate with scanner for these reasons

    Hi
I have an MG 3250 printer running off an HP Pavilion Laptop using Windows 8.1. Every time I try to scan  I get an error message that 'cannot  communicate with scanner for these reasons...........etc'. The only way I can get the printer / scanner to work is by going through the Control Panel / Hardware & Printers route. This seems terribly slow and time consuming. What is wrong and what needs to be done to correct the problem?
    Thanks

I have the exact same problem as you with my new Canon LiDE 120. The errors I get are: 2, 156, 182, 55 and sometimes 77 when using it on my Windows 8.1 (64 Bit) desktop PC. I have tried installing and uninstalling the drivers multiple times, used different ports and still nothing. It does however work properly on a Windows 7 device.
My PC's specification is as follows:
Windows 8.1 (64 Bit) - With latest updates
    Avast Premier
    Malwarebytes
    ASUS z87 Pro
    Intel 4770k
    ASUS GTX 670 (4GB)
    8GB 1600MHz Kingston RAM
    Things I have done
Tried different ports (USB 2.0 and 3.0)
Installed all software & driver from CD
Installed all software & driver from Canon Website
Installed only the latest driver from Canon Website (April 2015)
Tried to use Windows Fax & Scan, Scan, IJ Scan Utility, Scangear and Vuescan.
    What happens
The physical buttons on the device are unresponsive
The computer says it is warming up, but nothing happens
It starts to scan for a few seconds and then comes to an abrupt end - this can happen at 10% of the scan or even at 91%.
Surely the problem cannot be with Windows 8.1 since the device was only released last year. What could be the issue? I called their support line and was advised to clear the drivers of previous scanners used by my system, I did this and there still is no change. Could somebody please help me!

  • Cannot Communicate With myRio

I cannot seem to get MyRio to communicate with my computer. I have installed all the items on both discs and applied any updates that it asked me to do. I plug in the MyRio, the device window pops up and I click the Getting Started Wizard. The myRio is found by the computer and I click on it. It says checking software, then asks me to rename it. I do so and then it attempts to set the date and time. At this point it says it cannot communicate with the myRio and to check that the power supply and USB are plugged in, which are obviously connected since the computer was able to find the myRio in the first place.
NI MAX can see the myRio, says that it is in "Safe Mode (Software not installed)."
There may be a problem with conflicting LabViews, since I had 2012 originally before installing the 2014 packages. Does anyone know if the myRio discs are installing the full LabView 2014, or just packages for LabView 2014 that will not work without first installing the full LabView 2014? Or is there a quick fix for this?
    Any help is appreciated.

did you reinstall myRIO 2014 after installing LabVIEW?
Is the device showing up in MAX as safemode still? Does the device show up with the name that you gave it? Check in MAX if there is anything in the Software section under the myRIO. Hit the reset button on the myRIO and, ignoring the getting started wizard, check in MAX again if it's there. Also try creating a myRIO project in LabVIEW and see if LabVIEW can detect the myRIO.

  • Jabber for Mac 9.2.1 Cannot communicate with the server

    Hi All,
I'm using Webex and the Jabber for Mac 9.2.1 client that was automatically pushed.  I see "Cannot communicate with the server" when I attempt to login.
The same credentials work correctly when using the 8.6.5 client version.  I've attached the problem report file.
I would appreciate some guidance on what I need to do to get this to work.
    Cheers,
    Steve

We've seen this with a few of our users as well. All started noticing having issues Friday morning. As this is a hosted service for us via webex we had our engineers call in to Jabber support. Cisco performed a modification to their account and they were able to connect again. No SRV records were messed with.
***EDIT*** - This appears to have been caused by a certificate issue. The Trusted Root Certificate for QuoVadis expired and was not renewed on some machines.
    Go here: https://www.quovadisglobal.com/QVRepository/DownloadRootsAndCRL.aspx
Install the Cert for : QuoVadis Root CA2 (in windows, download as DER>right click file>install)
Jabber should connect now. The issue was in SSL validation with the appropriate hosted servers.
