Computer crashed - upload ipod data to PC?

Help! My PC crashed (again!) I had to format the HD and reinstall windows, so I lost all my music, movies, photos etc...
I have most of this on my ipod - but cannot for the life of me get it from my ipod back on to my pc, can anyone help please...!

If you are using iTunes version 7 or later, then you can transfer purchased iTunes store music from the iPod to an authorized computer by using the "file/transfer purchases from iPod" menu. Note that the maximum of 5 authorized computers applies here.
For all other non purchased music (your own CDs etc) try this method which works on some Windows PCs.
Enable your iPod for disk use.
See: iPod Disk Use.
Open iTunes and select edit/preferences/advanced/general. Put a check mark in the box marked "copy files to iTunes music folder when adding to library" and also "keep iTunes music folder organized", then click 'ok'.
Connect the iPod whilst holding down the shift/ctrl keys to prevent any auto sync, and if you see the dialogue window asking if you want to sync to this itunes library, click 'no'.
Then go to file/add folder, open 'my computer', select your iPod and click 'ok'.
The music files should transfer to your iTunes.
If this doesn't work (and it may not because officially it's not supposed to), check out the instructions/suggestions here.
Music from iPod to computer (using option 2). This a manual method using "hidden folders" and although it works, it can be messy.
Much easier ways are to use one of the many 3rd party programs that copy music from the iPod to the computer.
One of the most recommended is Yamipod. This is a free program that transfers music and playlists etc from iPod back to the computer. However, it does not transfer playcounts/ratings etc.
Another free program is Pod Player.
There is also CopyPod. This does preserve ratings/playcounts etc if those are important to you but this program is not free. It also supports video transfer.

  • What is the procedure for a hard boot of my iPod touch 4th generation without itunes, and without computer, and without iPod data screen.?

What is the procedure for a hard boot of my iPod touch 4th generation
without iTunes, and without computer, and without iPod data screen?
6 months after purchase I updated my iPod touch as recommend by iTunes.
It has not worked since that day.  It frozen (disabled) with a "connect to
iTunes" icon displayed...that is the only thing it does.  itunes does not
recognize the iPod.  My Windows7 computer recognizes an Apple device.
Other computers recognize the devise but if iTunes resided on that
computer it did not recognize the iPod
I suffered a setback with deep depression and am just now getting out of it enough to do something.  The depression prohibited me from taking action.
I have done every procedure recommended from Apple help and external
sources.  I did this thoroughly with help for other owners and IT experts,
Apple employees etc etc.  I and associates have perform reboots utilizing a
number procedure using only button on the iPod.  These were unsuccessful
    also have performed.
Please do not ask me to do the usual.
Online I saw  a process using the buttons on the iPod to completely
    reformat
the iPod.  It was NOT the hold buttons for 10 sec let go of one wait 8 sec
etc.  I can not find the process now...a friend showed it to me in passing
I have lost contact with him.  This is the procedure, I believe, that with
enable me to update and use the iPod.

You need an internet connection and likely a computer with iTunes but an iPhone, iPad or iPod touch with the FindMy iPhone App may work by:
If you previously turned on FIndMyiPod on the iPod in Settings>iCloud and wifi is on and connected go to iCloud: Find My iPhone, sign in and go to FIndMyiPhone and use Remote Wipe to erase the contents of your device. If you have been using iCloud to back up, you may be able to restore the most recent backup to reset the passcode after the device has been erased.
You can also wipe the iOS device by installing the FindMyiPhone app on another iOS device and using that app to wipe the device.
    Otherwise
    Disabled
Place the iOS device in Recovery Mode and then connect to your computer and restore via iTunes. The iPod will be erased.
iOS: Forgot passcode or device disabled
If recovery mode does not work try DFU mode.

    For how to restore:
    iTunes: Restoring iOS software
    To restore from backup see:
iOS: Back up and restore your iOS device with iCloud or iTunes
If you restore from iCloud backup the apps will be automatically downloaded. If you restore from iTunes backup the apps and music have to be in the iTunes library since synced media like apps and music are not included in the backup of the iOS device that iTunes makes.
You can redownload most iTunes purchases by:
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store
If problem what happens or does not happen and when in the instructions? When you successfully get the iPod in recovery mode and connect to computer iTunes should say it found an iPod in recovery mode.
Yo may have to go to an Apple store or a friend's house with an internet connection and iTunes.

  • HT201269 How do I transfer data to a computer with old iPod data on it

I'm getting a new iPod and I want to put the data from a old iPod on the new one. My computer already has old data from a older iPod and I don't know how to get the old data off and this one on so I can transfer.

  • Computer crashed no ipod backup of purchased items. How to get them back?

My old computer crashed. Before I did I copied my iTunes folder onto my portable hard drive, but I did not make a backup through iTunes, just by copying and pasting using Windows. My ipod is only an 8GB and is not large enough to hold all of the items in my purchased folder. So I can't back up and transfer using my iPod. The only way to access my old hard drive is to use this thing that lets me view it as an external on my new computer. So going back and forth with a little bit of files is not a possibility.
I want to everything to my new computer, but I only have the backup on my hard drive, iTunes seems like the only way to import my music is to go folder by folder, but the items in the purchased folder are all hidden.
Did I completely lose everything I downloaded, or is there a way to get it back? I copied my old itunes folder onto my new computer, but it won't even let my try to use my old libraries that were actually backed up using iTunes. It's going to take forever to go folder by folder to put my music back onto my iTunes, and if all the purchased files are hidden then how could I possibly get them off of my external?

Ok. I sort of figured it out. iTunes had my up-to-date itunes folder hidden under a bunch of other folders, and with all of my purchased files only in this one place. Once I found the file that had all of the information it was fine, I was able to copy everything into itunes on my new computer. It just took forever to find because itunes thought it was being tricky by putting the folders in a weird spot.
There was no purchased folder though, so all of my purchased files are no longer under that part of itunes, which is frustrating.

  • Computer crashed. sync ipod to new itunes but threatens to erase! pls reply

    Hi,
my computer crashed and everything has been wiped.
So i download new itunes, and sync my ipod but threatens to erase all my files.
This computer runs on Windows XP and my ipod is an ipod touch.
Is there any way to get all my music & videos onto my computer or straight onto itunes?
There's just alot of music and videos that i can't just download them all again!

    Welcome to AD!
My advice is to use a 3rd-party ipod manager program to get everything off the ipod.

Recently had a PC crash. All data and information on hard drive was saved and reinstalled in new PC as a local drive. How do I access the saved music library that exsists onwhat is now a local drive in the new PC. My itunes account only shows purchased songs. I know my saved library is here, but I can't figure out how to access and get the saved library on itunes.

Locate the iTunes folder from the user profile on the rescued drive, typically at X:\Users\<User>\Music\iTunes. Delete the "empty" iTunes library from your current User's Music folder and copy in the originial library in its place.

If the photos were synced to the iPod you need a third-party program like TouchCopy or PhoneView

  • HELP computer crash when using data translation with labview

    Hi,
So to explain what I'm doing for starters, I have used DT-Link with DataTrans devices and Labview in the past without any issue. Mainly D/O blocks, A/Os and maybe 1 A/I. So I'm relatively familiar with working with these.
I began working on a new project that involes a dt9817 using 18 or so D/Os and then they had purchased a 9812(10v) for the 4 A/Is needed. I didn't seem to have any problems setting up the D/Os, in a while loop I referenced the 9812 and put in a write function. Now when I created the A/Is I did it just like I had before for a single A/I. I spent a little time figuring out how to get them to read from the correct port, but eventually figured it out.
The problem is now that sporadically when the program is running, the computer will go to blue screen and then restart!! The only significant things I have time to see before it restarts are:
    DT9810_x64.sys
    bluescreen error
    code: 50
I know it has something to do with DT Link as it is almost the only thing in the program and it only goes to bluescreen when the program is running.
    To answer questions:
Brand new computer. Asus i7 quad core.
I have tried to repair LV Link multiple times with no success.
Finally, I'm assuming it is based around a problem with the way I'm sampling the 4 A/I channels, but I can't think of any other way to do it. If some one can help me figure this out, or post an example code for multiple A/I channels into xy graphs I would really appreciate it.
    Thanks in advance,
    Luke

I just wanted to update this thread. Since having this error I worked out a few things that seem to have made the error more infrequent, however, it is still causing a major issue when the chemists are trying to run and a blue screen is pulled.
I have gotten to an executable on a few projects and I have seen the error come up on both the development computer and target computers. It has been narrowed down to a problem with the digital outputs, and the LV Link digital output driver. Unfortunately the Data Translation people have been less than helpful, so I was hoping that someone might be able to post some example code to work from.
This is the crash dump file from the last time I got a blue screen. If it makes a difference, it was taken from a computer with an executable.
Here is the code that pulls the error.
Thank you to anyone who can help. I am really stumped at this point.

  • Computer crashes when ipod connected

I have a click wheel ipod and also an ipod nano, they have always worked properly but recently everytime I connect them to my computer via usb, they crash my computer. I connected to another computer and restored my ipod nano, then went to connect it to my computer and it still crashed it. I have tried numerous things to try and fix this and now I am stumped as I do not know what else to do. Does anyone have any good suggestions please?

If you iPod works with other PC, then the problem is with your computer.
Have you tried to install the OS on your computer?

  • Computer crashed, now ipod won't sync

My computer recently crashed. Luckily we were able to save all our files, and itunes was reinstalled. Now when I hook my ipod up to my computer, a box pops up saying it is synced with another computer and I have to erase everything on my ipod and resync it with the reinstalled itunes. Theres 2000 songs on my ipod and over 100 videos that I deleted from my computer after adding them to my ipod. Is there anything I can do so that I can sync my ipod with my itunes without deleting all the contents of my ipod?

Answer "no/cancel" (whichever is the presented choice) to that dialog. Then set iTunes to manage your iPod manually:
    Managing content manually on iPod
You will then be able to keep your content on your iPod and still add new material. The best long-term strategy will be to copy all of your tracks and videos back into iTunes from your iPod and keep them there. That way should something erase them from your iPod (and iPod is not a reliable place to keep your only copy of material that would be difficult or costly to replace) you can easily put them back.

  • Computer Crashes when ipod touch 2nd gen is plugged in

Every time I plug my ipod touch into my computer a blue screen comes up and tells me to shut down my computer immediately. This happened while I still had a warranty on my ipod so I sent it back, got a new one and things worked for a while. It now is happening again and I no longer have a warranty on my ipod.
The blue screen talks about bios and caches on there but I am not a computer person so I don't know what this all means.
    Please help

    Dear Brian:
Create a Play List in iTunes.
Control-Click and open "Export" in the highlighted Playlist in iTunes.
    With "Export" opened:
    1. Click on "Format" and choose "M3U";
    2. In "Save As" name your "WhatEverNamePlaylist.m3u"; and
    3. In "Where" tell the program where to send your "WhatEverNamePlaylist.m3u".
You are done creating the Playlist.m3u in iTunes.
    Open "Subsonic Web Page".
Left hand column open "Import playlist".
In "Import playlist" click "Choose File" and open the "WhatEverNamePlaylist.m3u"; you created in iTunes.
The "WhatEverNamePlaylist.m3u" should now occupy the space between "Choose File" and "OK".
    Click "OK".
The file should now be in the "Playlist" on the left.

I need help please!  My computer crashed lost all data including my music.  Want to sync music from my ipad and/or iphone but it is not working.  What could be the problem how do I tackle it?

Syncing only works from your computer to your iPad/iPhone, not the other way around.  So you can only transfer your purchased music from the iPhone to your computer.
    See this document: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1848

How bad was the crash? Had the drive to be replaced? Or is there a possibility to use data recovery software on that drive?
