Configure System monitoring in SOLMAN

Hi
I need some help on this. For now I have installed solman / windows 2008 / oracle 10g on VM. A test system has been added as a satellite system in solman. CCMS Agent and CCMS PING has been installed in the satellite system. I am able to use my Alert monitor in solman to check out alerts from the satellite system. what do I need to do next to integrate this with solution manager?
I have reads the document http://help.sap.com/saphelp_sm40/helpdata/EN/0b/160419162a476380b5608e7f27a742/content.htm
This talks about "Setup system monitoring" and going into change mode. I dont see the change mode or the option to setup system monitoring.
PS: SMSY is setup correctly, I can see my satellite system from there.
any ideas on how to proceed will be appreciated.
thanks
ravi

The "Setup system monitoring" option showed up after in went into solutions overview in solution_manager Tcode and clicked on a number (hyperlink) under System monitoring for SAP Solution Manager Reference

  • System monitoring in solman 3.2

    Hi,
We are having solution manager 3.2. We need to monitor R/3 server from solution manager system. Completed setting up of SMSY for R/3 server, tested RFC. Getting some issues on solution_manager transaction. Can anyone explain the steps of doing solution_manager(DSWP) transaction to enable the monitoring of CPU,memory etc.
    Thanks,

It's hard to describe but I am trying do my best here.
In DSWP transaction, click your solution, then Solution Monitoring and click Setup System Monitoring, it will bring you a screen so you can activate monitoring and define what you want to monitor and its criterias.
CPU monitoring is defined under your server name
Memnory Mngt is under your instance name.

  • Error while configuring system preparation in solman step 5.6(configure SAPconnect)

    Hello,
We have recently upgrade solman from SP4 to SP 11. I am doing reconfiguration of the Solman. Stuck in one step of system preparation ->Step 5 Configure Connectivity -> 5.6 Configure SAPconnect.
The error which i am facing is "Email address could not be updated because of the CUA" after saving the entries. I  tried disconnecting the system from parent system and run the setup but still getting the same error.
Any help in this regards will be highly appreciated. Let me know if more information is required.

    Hi Ravi,
    I presume
you refer to user-id SOLMAN_BTC (default user-id) used in step 5.6 of System Preparation"
an email address exists for above user-id
After system/client was removed from CUA, did you re-sync system via RZ70 to SLD  and then to LMDB / SMSY?
Please re-sync and restart "System Preparation"; hopefully that should resolve your issue.
    Best regards,
    Shaji

    Hi,
We have recently installed SAP Business Objcts in a seprate system and  now we want to include this system in SOLMAN for early watch alerts.
can any one provide the document/setps on how to include our Business Object system in SOLMAN.
    Thanks * Regards,

I could not find any BO specific talks about SolMan and EWA in particular
Did you already tried to add the system like a regular NW based system via SMSY? I guess you can use the regular procedure here

  • System Monitoring - Solman 7 EHP1

    Hi
    Solution Manager 7.0 EHP1 / Windows 2008 / Oracle
Satellite System R/3 Enterprise extn set 110 / Solaris on Sparc / Oracle
I am having trouble configuring System monitoring on solution Manager. Here is what I have done
Added the satellite system to SLD, Configured data collector (RZ70) in the satellite system, Pushed data from SLD to SMSYS (automatic transfer).
Installed CCMS agent + CCMSPING agent in satellite system. Checked connectivity in solman with RZ21. Connectivity is fine.
Created Monitor sets and monitors in CCMS for monitoring satellite system. Client data is visible in CCMS.
Created a solution in DSWP. Created logical component in SMSY. Assigned the logical component to the solution. Now I can see the data in DSWP.
    Here are my questions
    ==================
    1. In DSWP, everytime I have to view data, I have to click on "Setup System Monitoring" to view the alerts in the satellite system
I see a red alert reading for instance availability. Similarly,
In the system monitoring workcenter, I see the status of both the solution manager and the satellite system greyed out with a cross. When I move my mouse over it, it reads, no CCMSPING data available.
Any idea as to why this happens?
    2. For what I see after I click on "Setup System Monitoring" I have parameters which I can configure. I see default values for these parameters. Is there like a recommendation or a template which can be used to setup these monitoring parameter values?
    3. I have configured the ccmsping in the solution manager (for the solution manager) however the ccmsping service refuses to run. It throws a error reading "The system could not find the file specified". The ccmsping exe file is present in the location stated. Are there other files that this is looking for?
    4.  While registering the agent in the satellite system, I first registered with the CSMREG id. It failed with the message,
INFO: [SMG:040:CSMREG] connected to SMG, host sapsm.NA.XXX.NET, System Nr. 00, traceflag [ ]
INFO: SMG release is 701 , (kernel release 701 )
            RFC Error Info:
             message:
             status:  EXCEPTION AUTHORITY_NOT_AVAILABLE RAISED
             intstat:
          Go Ahead anyway?  n/[y] :
    INFO: handling destination SAPCCM4X.SAPR3PR1.00
    ERROR: can't register at SMG. RfcRc = 2, AUTHORITY_NOT_AVAILABLE
    RFC Error Info for SALF_CSM_AGENT_REGISTER
    message:
    status:  EXCEPTION AUTHORITY_NOT_AVAILABLE RAISED
    intstat:
I then did this with a dialog user. That worked. Agent was registered in solution manager. Any idea on why this error would show up with the CSMREG? I am concerned about issues which can come up when the password for the dialog user changes.
I am not sure how to upload screenshots of what i see, probably if i do that, it will be easy to relate to the issue which I am mentioning here. Is there a way I can do that?
Let me know if you need any more information from my side to understand this.
    Ideas will be appreciated.
    thanks
    Ravi

    Hello Ravi,
Additionally you will want to look at SAP Note 1175058 - Problems with CCMSPING in SAP Solution Manager, especially
    c) Ensure that the message server host name in the monitoring options of CCMSPING and the message server of the corresponding main instance of the relevant system is the same in the SAP Solution Manager landscape
(SMSY). Important: The monitoring options of CCMSPING must not be configured using an IP address.

  • Solution manager system monitoring configuration

    Hi
I am configuring system monitoring in solution manager (Oracle / Solman 7.0 EHP1 / Windows 2008 / VM)
I have added a satellite system to solution manager thru CCMS and CCMSPING agents. These are visible in RZ21 / Technical infrastructure / Overview. This has also been added in SMSY, SMSY when refreshed pulls out data from the satellite system. However I am having trouble with the transaction SOLUTION_MANAGER. This is where I setup system monitoring.
Here I find the solution maanger system however am not able to find the satellite system which I had added.
    Thoughts?
    thanks
    Ravi

    Hi,
Have you defined and added corresponding logical systems for the respective satellite systems?
Here is the sequence of steps you've to do:
    in SMSY:
    1) Define server, DB, Systems
    2) Generate READ, TMW, TRUSTED RFCs to the satellite systems
    3) define logical systems and assign the satellite system to it
    in Solution_Manager:
    1) define new solution
    2) add the logical system into the solution
If these steps are successful, you should be able to see the satellite system in SYSTEM MONITORING in Solution_Manager.
Have you already done these steps?
    After performing these steps:
    Solution_Manager>choose relevant solution>operations setup>Solution Monitoring>System monitoring>Activate monitoring> choose the system and activate monitoring.
    Your system will then appear.
    Does this help any way?

  • System monitoring configuration in solution manager EHP1

    Hi all
I am in a bit of fix
We have upgraded our solution manager devlopment to EHP1
Now I have added one system through SMSY in solution manager to configure system monitoring
I have generated all the RFC's,I have created the logical component and solution and assigned the system to the solution
When I check my solution it is looking fine
Now when I go within solution and click on the tab system monitoring
It shows me on the left hand side -> Set up system monitoring
when I click on Set up system monitoring on the left part of SAP screen, strangely it doesnt take me to the activation of screen monitoring,it just shows me the best practices documents on the right side but nothing more than that
I have checked many guides, blogs and SAP tutors anfd have followed them but strangely I am not been able to go to the screen for activating system monitoring
Are there any activities that need to be done after upgrading to EHP1?
Are there any services to be activated for system monitoring?
    Please advice
    Rohit

I'm not 100% sure that it is necessary, but it won't hurt.
Perhaps the essential adjustment you need for system monitoring is being done in there.

  • SolMan 7.1: Unavailable data in system monitoring

    Hello experts,
I have successfully configured system monitoring for our systems. Unfortunately there is only data available for some checks and not for all.
    Information is available for:
    - Technical system (Overall availability, Overall performance, Overall exception)
    - Technical instance (Overall performance)
For all other points is no information available:
    - Technical system (overall configuration status)
    - Technical instance (overall availability, overall exception)
    - Database instance
    - Host
The status is grey and data is not available.
In the Unified landscape browser I have a green status for the SMD Agent and a red status for the Host. Maybe this is the problem?! But SAP Host Agent is started and updated to the latest version 7.20/91. Error:
getVirtualizationConfiguration:Webservice port type not enabled (SAPHostAgent version:720:91)
Failed to persist host <sap-host>. Check host status for details.
    Cannot create host '<sap-host>'
Is Wily necessary for these tests? Initial and basic configuration is successfully, but I do not have installed Wily.
    Thanks, Basti

    Hi Basti
It's worth a try, but perhabs it helps on your managed systems:
    1. Upgrade to latest Diagnostics Agent available
    2. Upgrade SAP Host Control to latest
But most important thingy to try out is:
    3. Open Command Shell (su - <daa>adm under Unix, cmd.exe as user <daa>adm under windows)
    4. Go to /usr/sap/<DAA>/SMD<Inst.Nr>/scripts (for Windows accordingly using \ on correct installation drive)
    5. Execute "smdsetup hostagent state:on"
    Hope, this helps.

  • System monitoring - DSWP and RZ21

    Hi all,
I am using sap solution managers workcenter "System monitoring" to set up the sap monitornig for a huge landscape. This works well, but to receive alerts (e.g. per mail)  I additionaly have to do the settings in RZ21 (assign central autoreactions). This is not very comfortable because each setting has to be done twice (in dwsp and rz21) and there is also the risk to forget something. Do you know any other possibility? Do you know about plans to integrate the functions of RZ21 into DSWP?
    Thanks
    Michael

We are setting up system monitoring is solman? i do have the same doubt as mentioned earlier

  • System Monitoring Issue.

    Dears ,
We are using Solman 7.0,SP16 on Oracle 10.2.0.2.
We are configuring System Monitoring for our ECC5(DEV,QAS,PRD) landscape on it.
Now for it I added system in SMSY then assigned them in logical comp as per their role and then assigned that log comp to a solution.
Now when I goto DSWP->setup system monitoring...
It only show me producation server and its dialog instances there not my DEV and QAS server.
    So my first question is
1--Do I have to create seprate solutions and seprate log comp to configure system monotoring for all servers.
2-In configuration there are some parameters like programme buffer whose threshold value it is not picking by defualt so when I go to metion in RZ21 there are some option like message class, method assignment about which I am not aware so please suggest how can I configure such type of parameters.
    Shivam

    Go to tx DSWP
    Choose your solution
Go to Operation Setup (in left screen)
Go to Solution Settings (in right screen)
    Choose tab "System Group"
You'll find your logical component with in it your systems, probably only your PRD is highlighted in green.
Go to change mode, right click the systems you want to add (QAS & DEV) and choose "put in solution".
    Don't forget to save!
If all is well, all your systems should be visible when you want to setup system monitoring now.

Another Servers (ex. BW, XI, EP) are displayed Database component.

  • System Monitoring: Navigation to Satellite System

    Hello All,
    I have configured System Monitoring.
In SolMan -> Monitoring Graphic -> I check Alerts
Now, for some Alerts itallows me to click the Alert and navigate to that particular Transaction in Satellite System. The Alert itself is a Link(Blue Font)
For Others it is not allowing me to navigate to that particular Transaction in Satellite System. The Alert is a Black Bold Font
    Why so?
    Thanks!

    Hello SALPG ADMIN ,
I can confirm that the alerts appearing in black blod letters are having no problems, it is just representing a different MTE.
As you know every alert in the System Monitoring Graphic of SAP Solution Manager is just mapping the data from the corresponding Monitoring Tree Element (MTE) in the CCMS, transaction RZ20.
The alerts that you see without link, not in blue colour but in black & bold lettters, are corresponsing to MTEs that do not have any Analysis Method assigned in RZ20, and therefore, there is no transaction on the satellite system that you can check to display more details for the alert.
On the other hand, the Alerts in the graphic that have blue colour, are mappping MTEs which do have an Analysis Method assigned in RZ20, and when you click on the link, you just trigger this Analysis Method and jump into the monitored system, in the respective Analysis Transaction;  for example, for update error alert, you would jump into SM13.
You can just prove this if you got o RZ20 and check the porpertied of the MTEs that you see in the Graphic.
I hope this clarifies your question,
    With kind regards,
    Marta

  • System monitoring change not available

    Hello,
I am trying to configure system monitoring for one our test system. When I go the system monitoring option under operations setup , I am not finding the "setup system monitoring" service. In SMSY all entries looks okay. We are using solman version 4.0. Any inputs on this ?
    Thanks,
    Mahesh

    Hi Mahesh,
before you can set up the system monitoring you have to assign a system to the solution landscape.
Therefore you have to assign the relevant system to a logical component and the the logical component to the solution landscape. This steps can be performed in transaction SMSY.
After that the "setup system monitoring" session should apper in your solution landscape.
