Hello,
Opening MS Word with /n switch, Example "C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office\Winword.exe" /n, Word 2010 will start a new instance of Word with no document open. Can this be done via GPO as we are looking into configuring this for hundreds
of users. Thanks.

I don't know a direct way to realize this via GPO, but a workaround may be helpful.
Since the path for all users should be the same(C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office\Winword.exe), we can make one shortcut, then modify its Properties -> Add
/n to the target behind the full path C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office\Winword.exe. It will be like "C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office\Winword.exe" /n
in the shortcut properties, save it to a shared folder, then create a startup script which pulls this shortcut from the shared folder to the user's local desktop.
Since I'm not a script expert, you may need to contact other resource for further assistance.

Yes, if you set up the new AirPort Extreme using the guidelines above. The 10.6.8 Mac will be able to connect to the AirPort Extreme, but it will not be able to make any configuration changes.
Only the devices listed above can be used to set up and make any changes to the new AirPort.

Word 2010 Document with embedded pdf objects

Is it possible to convert a word 2010 document with embedded pdf object into a PDF without loosing the functiuonality of double clicking on the Acrobat icon and opening the (embedded) document?

Pretty sure that the PDF will contain exactly what you'd get if you printed the Word document. There is no promise or expectation that objects will be "live".

Word 2010 document with images won't print to HPLJ5550 printers

It prints fine on black and white printers (HP 4250). It's a 25-page document with images on almost every page. The file size in Explorer shows the document is 3.2mb. The printer queue window shows its 2.27mb/415 mb.
I've tried to figure this out.
I sent the same document to four different HPLJ5550 printers. All the same problem.
I sent it to other printer models and it works fine.
I sent it from different computers. Same results.
I turned off background printing. I disabled advanced printing. I PDF'd it and it still wouldn't print.
The issue is that we are moving to Office 2010 in May and I am responsible for training everyone. But, I can't print my training materials on 90% of our printers (HPLJ5550). Gack. What will this be like when we have all our employees trying to print and documents won't print.
This has happened with other Word 2010 documents too. I thought it may have been the fonts in the styles. So I changed the styles to use Times New Roman and Arial. Didn't help.
I made new styles, not based on any other style, and used TNR and Arial. Didn't help.
I save the file back to Word 2003. Didn't help.
I can, however, print the file fine on the one Dell 5100 color printer we have. But, that's not going to work when we have 700 users trying to print to their HPLJ5550 printers (the company default printer for all our locations).
I would appreciate any suggestions you have. Right now I have had to go back to using Word 2003 to create the training documents for Word 2010 classes - totally not acceptable.Ugh.

I am using BB ZZ10, and my laptop has Kaspersky Anti Virus installed in Windows 7, as mentioned in the forum, i have stopped my AV, and installed the PrintToGo and still it is not working.
I get a small window asking for my blackberry ID and Password, once i enter it correctly it give a error message, stating that cannot connect to internet or DNS not found when all other browser pages are able to connect.
if i enter wrong password it shows password wrong and then asks for correct password, only if i give correct password it shows the error message which is a typical Internet explorer error message.

Does Word 2010 work with Adobe Acrobat 6.0 Standard?

I've been using Windows XP and MS Office 2003. It's essential for me to use MS Word for my work. I also sometimes need to create PDFs from my Word documents. I bought Adobe Acrobat 6.0 Standard earlier this year.
I now find (to keep up to date and on good terms with my clients) that I need to upgrade to a newer version of Word. If I keep Windows XP but upgrade to MS Office/Word 2010, will my Ad Ac 6.0 work okay? I've been told there are some conflicts between some versions of Ad Ac and MS and I'm confused about it.

MS Office 2010 has already been out for several months, so I will presume that Adobe has that version to test while programming Acrobat X

Configuring Lync 2010 Mobility with Front end and Edge Server

I have been racking my brain the past week trying to figure out how to get the lync edge server working properly and how to get the mobility service working properly.
Currently I have 1 front end server that is configured and working. I have one edge server that has been configured according to nearly every online help I could find along with public CERT.
If I use microsoft's online connectivity test and I run the test for
Lync Server Remote Connectivity Test everything passes. I am also able to connect to lync using a windows lync client from outside of the internal network however I have to specify the server name as being sip.ourdomain.com I cannot get connected using
autodiscover.
When I run the Lync Autodiscover Web Service Remote Connectivity Test it fails due to SSL error to lyncdiscover.ourdomain.com which then lead me down the path that I needed to install
the Mobility service but it also tells me that I may need to update our SSL cert as well.
This is where I am getting confused and would like to be pointed in the correct direction.
When I installed mobility service on the front end server it created the autodiscover section in IIS. If I am inside our network I can browse to it without any issue. Where I am confused at this point is how to either setup DNS or how to configure
the edge server to use autodiscover.
Do I need to setup an additional public IP and point lyncdiscover.ourdomain.com to the IP of our front end server or to our edge server? If I have to point this to our front end server then that would mean that I use one public IP that goes to 443,
444 and 5061 for our edge server and then I would need one public IP that goes to ports 443 and 80 that get redirected to ports 4443 and 8080 on our front end server? If that is the case then do I have to get an external cert for the front end server
that contains lyncdiscover or can clients connect if it is just using the self signed cert from the domain?
This is where I am getting confused at and hopefully some nice folks out there can clarify this for me so I can get this resolved.

You need an additional public IP to point to a reverse proxy, which will listen on port 443 and proxy requests to your front end server on port 4443 (notice the extra 4). You can use IIS ARR, Web Application Proxy, or whatever else you may have for
this purpose, but you need to ensure you redirect port 443 to port 4443. This reverse proxy cannot be collocated on your front end server or edge, you'll need a separate box or appliance.
Beyond Lyncdiscover, you'll want to do this for your external web services FQDN as defined in the topology builder and your meet and dialin URLs too. You'll want a third part cert for all of this (though it doesn't need to be installed on the front
end, just the reverse proxy) so that you don't need to install any internally signed root certs on anyone's smartphone.

Acroexch error in Word 2010 x64 with Adobe Acrobat Standard 9.5

Hello, i get this error when im trying to insert a PDF into a word doument.
In Adobe Reader X it was the Protect Mode but in Acrobat Standard in don't have this Option.
Any ideas please?

The Problem has our General Manager.
I will try to explain the Problem a little bit better.
Our General Manager had a Windwos 7 32bit with Word 32bit and Adobe Acrobat Standard 9.5. When he inserted a PDF with Drag & Drop in Word all works fine.
Since he have a Windws7 64bit with Word 64bit and Adobe Acrobat Standard 9.5 he get a Acroexch error. I tried it on my Workstation and had the same error. Yesterday i tried it again on a Windws7 32bit with Word 32bit with Adobe Acrobat Standard 9.5 and it worked.
If i try to insert the PDF as a Object it works on both Systems. I saw now that Adobe Acrobat is a 32bit Version. Is there a 64bit version for Adobe Acrobat 9.5?

Conversion of a Word 2010 Document with inserted objects to pdf with adobe acrobat XI

I am working in a Wrod document with inserted objects such as ppt files, word documents and even pdf documents. you open the word document, push in the object and then the inserted file opens. I have converted it to pdf with one button click and the index works, that's to say, you press in the index and you go to the section selected. However the inserted objects are images and you can no open them.
Do you know how to keep the inserted objects????

Let's consider that the Mainframe is on the ethernet side (OSA card) and the station on the serial side. Then I guess the example will work fine.
To make things more complecated, now suppose that there is another station on another serial let say s0/1, with its own x.121 address, whereas the station is on s0/0. Now, if the station also wants to speak x.25 with the server on s0/1, how this could be accomplished? Does the configuration of the s0/0 with the x25 map and qllc dlsw commands, forbids the station from talking to other serial interfaces? Or if I just add a x.25 route to the s0/1, then whenever station asks for the x.121 address of the server it will be guided there?

I am sorry but I think the question as it was set was a bit confusing. So, please let me rephrase it using the same example as basis. Let's consider we have two AS400 (a & b) connected with x25 to two serials on a router. This router is connected with a x.25 serial interface with another router, at serial s0/0, which has two connections:
i) Ethernet to mainframe (OSA)
ii) Serial (s0/1) x25 to another server (Stratus)
AS400A is to speak with OSA card whereas AS400B is to speak with the stratus server.
If I configure the serial interface to map x25 address of AS400A to a vmac and guide this to OSA, then will the other AS400B be able to connect to the Stratus?

When opening .doc from website link, FF appends .docx extention to file & does not open in Word 2010, with incorrect file format error. Pls Help

I'm using Firefox v12 to open a hyperlink from a website that points to a filename.doc MS Word Document for download.
We are then asked to open the file with MS Word (Default), which our installed version is MS Word 2010.
Firefox then renames the file appending a .docx to the filename e.g filename.doc.docx. MS Word 2010 opens with error 'incorrect file format', which is correct as Firefox has renamed it.
Is there a fix or workaround for this?

I can save the file and it opens fine.
It's when I open it directly, Firefox appends the 'docx' extenstion to the filename.
If I continue to reopen from the web link, Firefox renames the file as so
mydoc.doc-1.docx
mydoc.doc-2.docx
mydoc.doc-3.docx
I can open a .doc from a Microsoft site ok.
I have the feeling it's the way the web server is reporting the mime type to Firefox.
The link in question works fine in Internet Explorer.

Batch create Multiple files in Acrobat X and X1 cannot convert Word 2010 with graphics

I work for an exams board where hundreds of exam papers are produced. Once approved, these exams are converted to PDF and sent to print. Using the Batch Create Multiple Files option is therefore essential to getting these papers print ready on time. We have found that using this function to convert multiple Word 2010 files with graphics will not render it properly. It deconstructs the graphics which loses the integrity of the exam paper.
I have trialled the same group of files on Acrobat X1 with the same result.
Have other Acrobat Pro Users experienced the same problem? Is there a fix?

The first file is the problem file. If you create this file separately, Acrobat will convert it perfectly. But "Batch create multiple files" and the graphics are deconstructed on page 8

Create PDF Acrobat X Pro - does not display embedded excel 2010 tables in word 2010 properly

I bought Acrobat X Pro and the first document I used 'Create PDF' on was a Word 2010 document with embedded (read linked) Excel 2010 tables.
When I opened the document after creating it the linked tables had a little arrow in the corner of a white box with a help text message of "click here to activate". The pdf is basically unusable.
Is there a setting to ensure that these embedded excel tables are created as normal tables - I do not want to have to keep pasting in tables/images into my Word documents when they are all updating automatically.

i am having exactly the same issue with Acrobat X Pro - with linked Excel 2010 tables in Word 2010.
Has there been a resolution to this eissue - it is potentially very time consuming to work around this issue for me.

Custom Property in Microsoft Word 2010 Document Template and Sharepoint 2010 Content Type not Syncing up

I wrote a macro in a Word 2010 template with a custom property called HeaderFooter (a Yes/No value). When the property is changed to No, the header and footer are hidden, otherwise, the header and footer are displayed.
I added the template to a SharePoint 2010 Document library, with a content type DocInformation and a column name HeaderFooterOffOn that I want to map to the custom property HeaderFooter in the Word Document.
The macro isn't working in SharePoint, though, because when the user clicks on the HeaderFooterOffOn in the DIP of the Word Document, the Word Custom Property (HeaderFooter) isn't changing with it.
How do I get these two synced up, so that when the SharePoint column is changed, the Word Document's custom property simultaneously updates with it?

There is no direct way to run macro in SharePoint
As a workaround, I suggest you use SharePoint Event Receiver to run some custom code when column changed.

Creation bokmarks from headers and styles of Word 2010

HI, everyone!
I faced with the following problem. I convert the PDF from the Word 2010 document with bookmarks based on Headers and Styles, but only Headers appear in output PDF.
I use Adobe Acrobat 10.1.2.

Hi,
There is an issue in Acrobat 10.1.2 due to which Word styles cannot be converted to Bookmarks. This issue will be fixed in the next patch of Acrobat. In the mean time if you want a workaround then you can do the following steps:
Uninstall Acrobat 10.1.2.
Reinstall Acrobat 10 and do not update to 10.1.2
Set the preference to convert Word Styles to Bookmarks.
Convert the word file to PDF and Bookmarks will get created for Word Styles.
