Confirmation pop-ups - only via javascript?

I want to have a confirmation box pop-up when I have changed a field in a form and pressed the submit button.
Looking through this forum, all I've found is confirming deletions with javascript via a URL target:
javascript:confirmDelete('Are you sure you want to change the password?');
This gives me a deletion error:
ORA-20001: Invalid action DELETE on this object. (U)
Error Unable to process row of table USERS.
OK
presumably because I'm not deleting anything - I just want to confirm my change.
Do we always need to use javascript for confirmation pop-ups?
If not, how else can we achieve this?
How do we make the pop-up dependent upon at least one field value being changed?
How do I get the pop-up to ask for a Yes/No response instead of Cancel/Yes options?
Any help on this would be greatly appreciated.

The definition of the javascript function is: function confirmDelete(msg, req). It takes an optional second parameter called req. This specifies the REQUEST value that should be set when the user clicks OK on the confirm pop-up. If you omit this second parameter in your call to the javascript function a request value of 'Delete' is set. This is why you are receiving your error. You should set the second parameter to be some custom REQUEST value.
"Do we always need to use javascript for confirmation pop-ups?"
For popups of this sort the answer, in short, is "yes". There are no other client-side languages that work cross-browser like javascript. You could avoid javascript (and popups) altogether if you wanted by just having an intermediary Apex page with buttons representing whatever actions you want the user to be able to perform, e.g. "Yes", "No" and "Cancel".

  • I've been getting a lot of pop-ups only on firefox (my other browsers work fine) and recently I also had a homegroup icon appear and disappear on my desktop??

I was wondering if the two coincide, what is(are) the source(s) of this problem? how do I remove the homegroup from my computer and eliminate the unwanted pop-ups? I have windows 8 on my computer.

Hi to block pop ups completely here's how:
    Disabling all popups in Firefox
Type "about:config" (without the apostrophes) in the browser's address bar and hit the enter key.
First time users need to confirm that they be careful on the next page.
Type or paste "dom.popup_allowed_events" (without the apostrophes) into the search field.
The value of the preference highlights all events that are allowed to spawn popups.
Double-click the preference and "REMOVE" some or "ALL" of the items here. You can also add some if you want to do so.
note if you are successful, the next time a pop up comes you can set to disable notification from appearing.

  • Javascript pop-ups don't open, neither does the Add-ons field. Connected?

After reset or re-install, I can access Tools > Add-ons once. Then it will not open again. When clicking it or using command (Ctrl+Shift+A), nothing happens - no message, no symbols in address field, nothing.
Also, web pages with Java pop-ups (it says "javascript:popup_imp..." when I try to use them) do not work, like the web interface of a mail service, where New Message or Reply normally opens in new tab.
    Are these issues related?
    May installed plug-ins be involved?
    What can be done?
    Thankful for any support!

    Found the culprit!.
When disabling an add-on for grabbing material into TreeDBNotes - Add to TreeDBNotes 1.0 - the rest started working fine.
The TreeDBNotes is a great word processor / database storage, that deserves more users and upgrades!

  • How do I enable some pop-ups?

''locking as a dupe of https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/992359''
when I try to follow the instructions, I can't even start because there has to be a "browser window" with a menu at the top, and I don't have any such thing.
When I click on "internet" my computer goes to Google. How do get the Firefox browser window?

At the top of the window, you should see either a menu bar (File, Edit, View…) or an orange Firefox button. If you see nothing but a web page, you're probably in Full Screen mode. Press the F11 key to toggle full screen mode.
To open the options window without the mouse,
    # Hold down the '''Alt''' key and press '''T'''
    # Let go of the '''Alt''' key and press '''O'''
Once in the options window, click the Content icon, then the Exceptions button. Add the sites you want to always open pop-ups there.

  • Software updater pop ups invite me to download Reader X1 11.0.03 but website only provides Reader X

Hi, can anyone explain why software updater keeps giving annoying pop ups inviting me to update to Reader 11.0.03, but when I go to the website to download I am only provided with Reader X? I updated from Reader 9 to that but still keep on getting the pop ups. My antivirus also tells me the download link in the pop ups is unsafe and carries viruses. How can I get rid of these pop ups and/or update to X1?
    Many thanks

It appears to have finally stopped popping up! If it returns I will take a screen shot. I did wonder if it was some kind of scam which is why I went to the website to update rather than via the link.

  • In IOS 7 some web pop ups freeze, I can only resume safari if I delete data and cookies from the safari settings

I recently installed IOS 7 and I getting used to the new feel.  However, I have encounted a problem at least three times now.  If I am shopping and a web message pops up, such as "you must select size before quantity" or "you have exceeded the number of items" there is a box that displays "ok" for you to acknowledge the mistake and continue.  In IOS 7, the pop ups freeze, I am not able to click "ok" and make the dialog box go away.  My only solution so far is to go to settings -- safari-- clear data and cookies.  Any help or insight would be appreciated!

    My iPad also experiences this.

  • Flash Pop-Ups Showing Blank... but only for one user! OS X

    Hello,
I am absolutely at my wits end with this one.  Here are my specs
    My Player Version: MAC 10,1,53,64
Operating System: Mac OS 10.6.3 (Snow Leopard)
Browsers: Safari 5.0, Firefox, Chrome -- same error on all browsers
About a month ago, I noticed some strange behavior with Flash on certain sites -- namely that when I hovered over something that would create a flash pop-up (like the graphs in Google Analytics), the box would pop-up, but it would be empty -- no text, just the blank colored box.  Movies played fine, other aspects of Flash played fine, just the pop-ups were broken.  This was cross-browser --- didn't matter if I used Safari, Firefox or Chrome -- same broken pop-ups.  Since then, I've noticed other things that don't work -- like the Adobe Privacy Settings box! The checkboxes are visible in the settings box, but no text!
As it keeps me from using Google Analytics and other important online apps, this has made me very sad.
What's strange, though, is that it only seems to affect the main user account on my Mac -- when I try to access these sites with my Guest account, everything works perfectly. Baffling.
Here is what I've done to try to troubleshoot it:
Used the Adobe Uninstaller  to Uninstall Flash - no errors
    Repaired permissions
Installed a fresh copy of Flash Player 10.1 - no errors
I've done this several times, trying restarts and other refreshes in between -- doesn't fix it
I went on a hunt for everything named Macromedia and Flash in my Account and trashed it.  Uninstalled Flash CS4. Uninstalled Adobe Air.  Used the Adobe Uninstaller again. Repaired permissions again. Restarted again. Reinstalled Flash Player again.
    No dice.
I have no idea what to do next. This is driving me crazy. Please, someone, HELP!

  • Text-only Pop-ups with linked Word docs in RH8 and links in general

Procedures have been written in Word with several words to have pop-up definitions.  The Word-styles have been set up in my RH8 project.  I plan on linking the Word docs instead of importing them.
What are the impacts to the pop-ups and links when the original Word document gets modified down the road.  Do these all need to be set up again?
Am I better off performing an import or will linking be acceptable?  I have not tried to create the pop-ups or links at this point.
Additionally, we already called out related procedures at the bottom of our procedure (they are not linked-would do that in RH).  Should I remove these in the Word document and perform the drop and drag function in RH8 to add the related documents?

A pop-up menu can be associated only with timelines not with playlists.

  • JavaScript Confirm Pop Up

I am calling a JavaScript function from a dropdownlistbox onClientSelect attribute. The javascript function dispalys a confirmation pop up with OK and CANCEL buttons. When the user hits OK, the JS function issues htmlbevent.cancelSubmit = false and I continue with serverside processing. However, when the user hits CANCEL, I still need to continue with serverside processing and change the dropdownlist box value back to previous value. Is there a way that I can capture users response from the confirmation pop up in javascript and return it for serverside processing. Thanks.

on both user action OK or CANCLE you want server action but you want to differentiate whether the user clicked ok or cancle (to carry out different server action)
to achive this have a hidden form field. and set the value to OK or cancel based on waht user selected in confirm dialog .
the js code would look somethig like below.
    var Check = false; Check = confirm('k1?');if(Check == false){ document.myform.hiddenformfield.value="false";htmlbevent.cancelSubmit = true; }
now you can read the hidden form field in oninputprocessing and based on the value you can do further processing.

  • Applemac OSX 10.7.5 How do I spot pop ups appearing every time I click the mouse on-line. this has only just started.have I clicked something  wrong??

How can I stop pop ups apprering every time I use the mouse on-line. have I clicked on something wrongly??

You may have inadvertently installed adware. Eradicating it is simple and you don't have to download or install anything to fix it. For an explanation or how this may have occurred, how to avoid it in the future, and for one possible solution read How to install adware.
Blocking popup windows in Safari and ad blocker extensions can be useful, but they are often ineffective defenses for this particular threat.

  • Rollover Pop-ups

Is there any way of making pop-ups (including text-only) open
    and close via a
mouse rollover rather than relying on them being clicked. My
    problem is that I
am using text-only pop-ups in pages that are already pop-ups
    and clicking to
close the text-only pop-up closes the whole window! My hope
    is that by using a
roll-over the user will still have the original pop-up page
    when they move away
from the text-only pop-up and, also, to make the text-only
    pop-up appear via a
mouse rollover as a click is not necessarily intuitive for
    the user.
    Thanks for your time,
    Greig

Thanks very much for the replies. I am going to make this
message the solution as there is more than one and I can include
    them in here.
For simplicity the ideas contained in Peter Grainge's
    snippets page -
    http://www.grainge.org/pages/snippets/snippets.htm
    - under the heading
Tooltips are worth considering. Basically storing the pop-up
message as Alt text for images or in the <acronym title'"pop-up
message in here"> tag for text.
The RoboWizard solution of using Captivate was also a good
one but I didn't want to embed swf files into my html. Am I missing
anything here Rick? Please explain the idea further if I am.
Leon's solution is more complex and took me a while to work
around. As with complex solutions it does offer more flexibility in
that the pop-up message text that is to appear can be formatted and
images can be included. It makes use of a bit of JavaScript from
    Walter Zorn -
    http://www.walterzorn.com/tooltip/tooltip_e.htm
    - for displaying tooltips. The tooltips can be kept in another
JavaScript file and called by Walter's script. An example of a
JavaScript function that can be called by Walter's script is:
function tooltip() {return "Type pop-up message in here and include
html code such as <B>bold</B>";}. Walter's page
    provides plenty of examples.
I leave it up to the reader to pick their preferred solution.

  • How do I get Firefox to display the information bar when a pop up is blocked I accidentally clicked on "Don't show this message when pop-ups are blocked" when a pop up was blocked. How do I get this message to reappear again when a pop up is blocked?

I just updated Firefox but can't get it to display the message when a pop-up is blocked. Most times I want them blocked but sometimes I need them enabled.

You can see a pop-up block icon in the right corner of the Status Bar if you have chosen to hide the information bar at the top.
You can left-click that pop-up block icon on the Status Bar and remove the check mark from "Don't show info message when pop-ups are blocked"
You can look at these prefs on the '''about:config''' page and reset them via the right-click context menu:
    Status bar icon: browser.popups.showPopupBlocker
Info bar at the top: privacy.popups.showBrowserMessage
To open the ''about:config'' page, type '''about:config''' in the location (address) bar and press the Enter key, just like you type the url of a website to open a website.
If you see a warning then you can confirm that you want to access that page.
