Conforming Text To Shape

I'm Trying to comform text to a specific shape ("Summer of Love") .... see attached image... I want it to say Spartain 2012. I've tried making it with top object and just can't get image anywhere close to looking the same. Any tips would be greatly appreciated.

While I think Monika is quite right, and this was probably down to art rather than automation, there is a way you can approach this kind of thing using Envelope Distort > Make With Top Object. It's all to do with breaking it down. Here's a really crude two-minute example:
All I've done here is set three separate blocks of point text. Then hacked (er, literally - as you can see) an ellipse up with the knife tool, and then treated each word to its own shape. I think given an half an hour and a little bit of forethought, you could probably get within 80-90% of the above; all you'd have to do then is expand and adjust as required.

A lot depends on what you mean by centered, the number of lines of text, the actual font, and whether there are descenders.
Using vertical justification set to centered may or may not work for you, depending on the above factors, as it depends on the baseline, I believe, rather than the acutal glyph dimensions. You could try adding baseline shift, I suppose, to make fine vertical adjustments, or you can bite the bullet and use the old-fashioned method of two frames.

Center text inside shape in titler?

Is there any way to center text inside a shape within the titler? For example let's say I use the Rounded Rectangle Tool to create a shape and put it in the lower third of title area, then use the Text Tool to type in a line of text. For now I'm having to manually position the text over the shape. Curious if there is anyway to get the equivalent of the Center buttons for a text on shape situation? If my question / situation doesn't make sense here, I can post a screen shot. Thanks.

Yes, both Objects (whether Text, Shape, etc.) need to be Selected, to use the Alignment Tools. Glad that you found that.

CAN Text Box/Shape with Text on top of Flash?

Hi,
i'm wondering, Do the Text Box/Shape with Text posible to put on top of the Flash?Do it able to read the Text after published?
I'm scratching my head...Safari Have no problem to read it but Windows user can't read the text.
Any idea?

OK, we might be getting there. I'm guessing you want to remove the outline of a Type layer from rectangular Shape. Is that right?
Create your rectangular shape.
Create your Type layer
Align the two layers.
Convert the Type layer into a Shape layer.
You'll have something like this:
Select the two Shape layers and merge them (Ctrl e or Cmd e)
Which will give you a single shape layer but this in the paths panel
Use the Direct Selection tool (white arrow) to drag across and select the type oultine
Now select the Pen tool, and in the Options bar click on Path Operations drop down, and select 'Subtract front shape'
Which should leave you this (Note I have turn off the background layer for the sake of clarity)
I sure hope that is what you are after, because it took me twenty minutes to produce the above illustrations.

How to encircle text or shape in PS Elements 11 (Dutch version)?
Followed instruction on help pages and read forums.
However when I select text or a shape (with or without making a new layer, 'encircle selection' option is not active.
How to solve this ?

Trying to get text to wrap ALL the way around either text, images, shapes in Mac Pages. I tried in Pages Word Processing

I have tried everything to get text to "wrap completely around" other text, images, shapes. Mac Pages - tried Word Processing and tried Page Layout. Inspector, wrap, Floating and Object causes wrap. The text will ONLY wrap at the TOP and BOTTOM of the object, etc. No matter which choice I make in Object causes wrapping. It just doesn't work. I have worked for hours on this - I can't find a solution. HELP!

What version of Pages?
I suspect you are using Pages 5 in OSX 10.9 not OSX 10.8.4.

A friend of mine called me today with the same issue. No idea how to resolve this, never heard of it before. She has a message that she used to forward before now permamently stuck. Even when she selects some other message to forward, that old text appears instead, thus making FW-ing unusable.

HELP! Need help with converting text to shape.

Each time I hit "Convert to shape" I get paths all over the text character. (See image below)
Rather than a bounding box I can transform. (see below)
It's almost as if the text is being converted to a work path even though I'm selecting "convert to shape". Not sure what's "off" or "wrong" but hopefully someone out there can point me in the right direction.

Ok, here's the thing. I'm watching a YouTube video on making bracket frames and the direction is to do what I've been attempting. Should have known better. Check out the video, link below, at about the 2min mark through 2:48ish. Can you let me know if this is accurate instruction?

Can not Group text and shape/object

I have previously made frequent use of grouping text and objects or images together. But in Keynote 4.0.2 this is not possible (for me at least). I am able to lock multiple images, but the group, mask and alpha buttons are not active when selecting a combination of the two (text and objects). Images or objects can be grouped together. Is this a bug or what ?

Open a NEW presentation (it should default to the Title and Subtitle slide of the theme)
Type some text into the Title
Insert a shape (square)
Select the shape and the Title
You should see that you cannot group anything with either the Title or Subtitle object of a slide. If you want to group text to an object, you have to create a new text object. Would this describe your inability to group (ie. limited to when you have Title/Subtitle selected?)

Text in Shape of Zero ("0")

I'm tring to insert hundreds of names into the shape of a zero (0), and while the text fills the overall circle shape, it does not respect in smaller inside o of the letter. I do not want any text in the center part of the zero. Example:

Put the letter '0' on a layer to the size you want, then on the layer above, input all the text you want to appear in the '0', then:
Hold down Alt (Windows) or Option (Mac OS), position the pointer over the line in the Layers panel dividing the base layer and the first layer above it that you want to include in the clipping mask (the pointer changes to two overlapping circles ), and click.
Select the first layer above the base layer in the Layers panel, and choose Layer > Create Clipping Mask.

Fitting text inside shape (Justification?)

Hi Guys,
I'm trying to find a way to fit a text inside a shape and to align it exactly to the shape borders, I was trying to play with the justification panel under the paragraph link but couldn't make it work,
I was trying to fit my text inside a shape look like the number 7 so eventually when a viewer see it they can recognize the number 7 without a stroke - only by the text insize the shape, above is an example of what happe when I try the same with a circular shape - I would like the test to fit in nicely filling the entire circle.

Scaling text and shape made in lower res file?

I created a selection, filled it and put text on top of it in a 72 ppi file and copied the group to an image with much higher resolution. I transformed the shape and text to make it bigger. Does doing this affect quality? It looked ok, I'm just curious.

Vectors are resolution independant, so Shape layers and Type layers will scale without damage to edge quality.
However, there's a pitfall if you place the 72 ppi document as a Smart Object in a 200 ppi document. The SO will be automatically scaled to maintain its size in inches in the new document. The fact that it is scaled isn't a problem in itself since you'd be doing that manually if it wasn't automatic. But when the SO is scaled, the pixel representation of its embedded document (not the embedded file itself which remains unchanged) will be scaled and (non-destructively) degraded by resampling in the same way as a regular pixel layer would be.
You can avoid the SO scaling problem by opening the 72 ppi document, or a duplicate, and using Image > Image Size to resample it to 200 ppi. That higher resolution document can be used itself or it can be placed as a Smart Object in other 200 ppi documents.
By the way, characters of a given size of font will be rendered with slightly different forms in documents of differing resolution to maintain legibility despite increasing pixelation in lower resolution documents.
