Confusion on Adapters

Hi All,
I'm a newbie to SAP XI, just completed my installation of SAP XI SR1 along with post installation steps. I have a confusion w.r.t Adapter Engine. Along with SAP XI 3.0 SR1, is it a must to install either J2SE adapter or PCK?
If I have to try out weblog " /people/venkat.donela/blog/2005/03/02/introduction-to-simplefile-xi-filescenario-and-complete-walk-through-for-starterspart1, Is it sufficient to install J2SE? After doing the steps described in weblog how to test XI application?
Thanks,
Praveen

Hi,
Installation of SAP XI SR1 will suffice the purpose. U need not install J2SE and PCK.
J2SE is a light weight Adapter engine that is being used with XI2.0. SAP has extended its support to use J2SE with XI3.0 also.
PCK is a lighter version of XI, used by small business parners who cannot afford to buy XI.
To test your application you should have created your Configuration time Objects. The following link provides you insighe to configration objects.

U can also refer to the folloing link completing your configuration part & test your scenario

  • Confused about adapters

What do I need to buy to connect my MBP late 08 model to my 42" LG Plasma TV?
it's all confusing and the stores here (in Brazil) haven't anything for the new models yet.
    Thanks
    Doug

Most likely your plasma TV has an HDMI input. Assuming that's the case, you need the Apple mini-DisplayPort to DVI adapter, then a DVI-to-HDMI cable.
    http://store.apple.com/us/product/MB570Z/A?fnode=MTY1NDA5OQ&mco=MjkyNjI0MQ
That carries only video - you'll need a separate cable for the audio (mini-stereo-to-RCA, assuming your TV has analog audio inputs - if it has a digital in, you'll need a mini-toslink-to-toslink cable).

  • Can we make proxies for third party

    hey guys
i m just a bit confused between adapters and proxies,is it possible to create proxies for any third party system(e.g. Oracle),if not then do proxies come into play only for SAP WAS 6.0 and higher or there is some other place too where we can use proxies?
    thanx
    aamir

    hi,
There are 2 kinds of proxies.
    1. ABAP
    2. JAVA
ABAP proxies are used to integrate an SAP system with WAS > 6.20.
Java proxies are used to integrate XI with a J2EE or J2SE application.
Take a look at this for java proxies,

  • Macbook power adapater with Macbook Pro...??

    Hi guys,
So I just got home for the holidays and realized I forgot my power adapter for my *Macbook Pro*. However, my dad has a Macbook. I know they're not the exact same adapter, but is it a problem if I use his adapter with my laptop?
    Thanks!

If the battery is fully charged it will power it (or if it is not running it will charge it a bit slower than normal) e.g. the 60W will be enough to do one or the other.
Search here for the other 1000 times this has been asked.
Lower wattage = charge or run not both, higher wattage = both and in the case of a MacBook with a Pro adapter, it won't catch on fire (which is a common theme as people confuse power adapters with light bulbs in terms of power consumption).
Searching google will come up with 10,000 more confirmations of this.

  • Slow internet on WRT320N

    Hello,
My 320N is connected with my ADSL modem. All pc's are connected to the 320N for gigabit but as soon if i want to surf the internet it is slow. From my 20mbit connection i get 1mbit or less. I'm using the latest firmware 1.0.03 build 10. Also disabled upnp just to be sure and tried to lower the MTU to 1350 and less but still slow.
I tried to reflash the router and set it back to factory default but still no luck. When i put a pc on my normal ADSL modem to test the speed, it is at 20mbit.
I only saw poblems with the Wireless connection that drops but also wired it is not workable. WAN connection stays up and doesn't drop.
Does someone also have this problem or someone knows how to fix this?
    Thanks!

    Sennie,
So sorry I didn't see that you already disabled Upnp.
Do you happen to have QOS enabled at all? If you do please disable it for this test. You may reenable it afterwards.
Now, I need to have some information about how your router is connecting to your ADSL.
Do you have it set to automatic or to PPPoE?
WPA2 Personal should be fine, as long as you set it to AES only. AES/TKIP can confuse some adapters into dropping every now and again.
Any Wifi security will slow down your wifi, but it won't be super significant - not such a huge drop as yours.
Many people have problems with ADSL and Routers nowadays because most of the modern ADSL boxes aren't standalone like they used to be. They're self contained routers that have NAT/Upnp/Firewalls and features like that enabled in and of itself. Therefore sometimes you'll have to go into the ADSL box and make some changes to give the router the full connection, OR turn off NAT routing on the router and basically just have it split up the connection coming from the ADSL box.

  • SAP XI, liscensing, adapters confusion

    Hi all -
About to embark on a NW2004s green field implementation.  ECC and BI in-scope, XI and EP out of scope for phase I.  Require clarification regarding XI, adapters and interfacing into ECC.  Organization does not have XI licensed except as provided in NW license for SAP to SAP system integration.  If we want to process XML based interface files from non-SAP system into ECC (I.e. without XI due to licensing) how is this best done?  Is the SAP Business Connector (BC) used?  The SAP NW licence does provide XI Integration Adapters (SOAP, FTP, IDOC, RFC..).  Do these run on XI or ECC?  If they run on ECC, do they replace SBC in WAS 6.40?
    Thanks,
    Pat

    Hi Lionel,
No there is no adapter which can communicate with RMI protocol(which EJBs works with).
But there is one XI adapter from iWAY
"CORBA ADAPTER". Please go through this link.
    https://websmp205.sap-ag.de/~sapidb/011000358700009396312004E#CORBA
RMI-IIOP protocol itself is a part of CORBA.
So the EJB which can work with RMI-IIOP should work with this protocol.

    Piyush

  • Powerline Adapters- a confusing problem -

So I've got BT infinity, black box, 2 black powerline adapters.
Tv is working fine, so is internet,  and phone line too.
but only one of the powerline adapters have 3 lights and the other has one (ethernet) no status etc.
    please help ?
is this an issue? or will it just go away its self.

  • 2 Power adapters...one glows amber to charge the other stays green??

    Hello,
I have 2 power adapters for my ibook, the one that came with it originally & one I bought as an extra. They are both 45W apple ones. I have had problems with my ibook powering up & after replacing the dc-in board to no avail I have been told it's the logic board that needs replacing.
I have just got a replacement logic board which I am yet to fit. As it stands at the moment I have replaced the dc-in board but still won't charge the battery?
Also when I use the adapter that came with my ibook the light on the adapter glows green. When I plug the extra adapter in it glows amber but doesnt charge the battery?
I am just confused as to why one adapter glows green & the other glows amber with the same battery in?
I am also concerned to know if it would have been possible for the replacement adapter to have caused the logic board failure in the first place? As I am replacing the logic board soon I don't want the same mistake to happen again!
    Anyone help??

All-right Master Meister, one last throw of the dice for me...
Do you have a friend or relative who knows how to use a multi-meter? If so, get them to check the voltage + current flow from the adapters when connected to the mains (iBook unattached).
Please do not try this yourself if you are unfamiliar with multi-meters; you could electrocute yourself or irreparably damage your equipment.
If you are reasonably competent with basic electronics, hook up a 12V car battery to one side of the charger and a 3V torch (with batteries removed) to the other side. If the bulb lights, this will tell you if the adapter is working.
I mean no disrespect: this is a potentially dangerous experiment and if you don't feel you are up to it, then don't try.
Instead, take the adapters to your local electronics store and pay them to check them for you.

  • Retina MacBook Pro: What new adapters do I need?

I am seriously considering purchasing the new Retina Display MBP.
My confusion lies with some of the adapters
What adapter will I need to:
    a) hook a new Retina MacBook Pro to a VGA projector?
    b) hook a new Retina MacBookPro to a HDMI TV so that I can move video and sound to the TV directly?
I need to do both for teaching purposes when away from home
I understand I will need a new Ethernet Adapter  and a new FireWire Adapter to work with the Thunderbolt connectors.
Its the other things I can't figure out

    Barbara Passman3 wrote:
    So, to be clear..
    1) The new Retina Display or any Mac with Thunderbolt needs an adapter to connect to VGA and maybe ,also to HDMI.
Since I was corrected about the fact that your MBP already has a HDMI port forget my suggestion for a mini-displayport-to-HDMI adapter because, as pointed out, you can just plug a HDMI cable directly into your HDMI port to connect your TV.
The VGA adapter is, however, required to speak to the vga projector.
How do you plan to connect these?  Specifically will both be connected at the same time or one or the other at different times?  Depending on when you connect this stuff in various combinations I'll mention now, take a look at SwitchResX which you can use to enable and disable monitors without having to insert or pull cables (with the attendant wear and tear on the plugs and sockets).

  • Confused with Info to hook tv to Mac

I know there are lots of postings on this but I'm confused, I'm a senior very non tech person.  I have a Sony Bravia TV, I think a 2008 model, does have HDMI ports tho.  And I have a mid 2012 MacBook Pro.  I don't really want an Apple TV, would rather have cables.  What do I need to buy to be able to order a movie thru iTunes on my Mac and be able to watch it on my tv having both picture and sound.  And if I have the right cables connected, is it as simple as switching the tv input to the correct HDMI port on the tv?

To connect the MacBook Pro to your TV through HDMI, you just need a Mini DisplayPort to HDMI adapter (Thunderbolt is compatible with Mini DisplayPort adapters), and a HDMI cable to connect the adapter with the TV.
After connecting the HDMI cable to the TV, switch your TV to HDMI mode and your Mac will automatically start showing image on the TV, by default, in extended mode

  • Pre-populate adapters behaviour during role based provisioning

    Hi all,
I have a question about pre-populate adapters behaviour during role based provisioning.
I'll sortly describe our architecture: we have OIM 11.1.1.3, Active Direcotry connector and obviously Active Directory as target system.
Our scenario is: assigning a role to a user , OIM should provision two account for this user to the same target system but in two different organizational unit (Active Directory).
Here some sample information to better understand our request:
    - OIM User userID: userid1
    - Active Directory IT Resource: ADServer1
    - Active Directory Organizational Units: OU1 and OU2
    - Role: Example Role
    - UserID of the account provisioned in OU1: admin.userid1 (in this organizational unit the UserID is composted by a prefix "admin." and the OIM User UserID "user1")
    - UserID of the account provisioned in OU2: user.userid1 (in this organizational unit the UserID is composted by a prefix "user." and the OIM User UserID "user1")
To achieve this goal, we have created two access policies AP1 and AP2. The first access policy provision the user account in OU1; while the second one in OU2.
Here some access policies form details:
    ### AP1 ###
    - AD Server: ADServer1
    - Organization Name: OU1
    (other fields are empty)
    ### AP2 ###
    - AD Server: ADServer1
    - Organization Name: OU2
    (other fields are empty)
Our idea was to develope two pre-populate adapter: one to compose the userID with "admin." prefix and the other one to compose userID with "user." prefix. However this solution cannot work because obviously you can link only one pre-populate adapter to a resource form field.
Any suggestion to avoid to create a second resource form?
    Thank in advise,
    Daniele

    Hi,
probably your confusion is caused by my english....anyway....
I'm trying to generate two userids and in our scenario it's simple map the organizational units. For example userids in organizational units OU1 have "admin." prefix; while organizational units OU2 have "user." prefix.
Do you suggest to create a pre-populate adapter that use a lookup to set the correct prefix based on organizational unit name?
    Thank you
    Daniele

  • Display Adapters included?

I just sold my early 2008 macbook air and can't wait to get the new macbook air! They're awesome computers and I'd reccommend them to anyone who puts a premium on portability and great customer service on Apple's part. But aside from that, I'm a little confused. ...so there's NO display adapters included with the new Macbook Air?? Why would they not include them this time? I mean, just why? Especially when they've just introduced their new Mini DisplayPort which no other device a user would need to hook-up to has, except their new cinema displays..? Have I been misinformed or does the computer really not come with any display adapters....? I mean i'm not asking for full cables or anything, but at the very least, an adapter (which has always been included with their new notebooks) would be nice and expected... just really confused about this one....

It's the way of Apple lately -- things that "always used to be included" are no longer included -- there are no adapters with the MBA. There is no dock included with the iPhone 3G, which used to be included with the first gen. Their iPods always used to come with a Dock...those were dropped too eventually.
The reality is, 90 percent of the users don't use those things. While it's nice to have them included, Apple makes more money from the 10 percent of users who DO need them, charging them extra for them. Available at the Apple Retail Stores, or online.

    hi all,
please look at the following link .
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/ae/d03341771b4c0de10000000a1550b0/content.htm
    this is my question,
the quality of service for FILE adapter type is given as  BE,EO,EOIO . Is it possible to define the quality of service to BE in file system ? this confuses me alot.
similarly for JDBC adapter.(hope that only receiver JDBC adapter supports   asynchronous communication)
    Please clarify my doubt.
P.S :  for all the experts , I have searched SDN to my knowledge and thats the reason behind posting this
    cheers,
    deepa

    HI,
As per the help document File adapter and JDBC receiver are not supproted by Best effort quality service.
But if you wish to use the File adapter for BE, then sap have provieded the modules from XI 3.0 sp 19 onwards such as  AF_Modules/RequestResponseBean  or AF_Modules/ResponseOnewayBean  etc. or you can use BPM to have Sync/Async bridge or acknowledgments
Refer below link -- These are used for JMS adapter but you can use it for other adapters also.
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04s/helpdata/en/45/20d1dec20a0732e10000000a155369/frameset.htm
Thus these adapters create the acknowledgment for the file adapter and trated as BE service.

  • Comm Channel and Adapters

    Hi,
My Scenario is RFC-XI-JDBC. I created one Message Interface, synchronous, abstract, and did the Interface mapping.
I created sender comm channel, receiver comm channel. I configured Sender Adapter(RFC) and Receiver Adapter(JDBC).
I have  a little confusion, do I need another two comm channels and another two sender(jdbc) and receiver(RFC) adapters.
    Thanks for the help.

    Hi Raj,
As your scenario says that you are making use of sync communication. Using the same sender and receiver channel the request and response comm is handled. While you create the outbound interface you check the option of msg interface type as sync.
So bottom line is you dont have to create two seperate channel to get the response from the JDBC adapter.
    Hope this answers your question.

  • Confused Regarding SAP XI Pre requiste

    Hi all,
Many of the threads has all the information that ......particularly sravya blog.....all says ...that SAP XI has no pre requiste.........
am still not able to understand that ..what are the concets we need in ABAP or java exactly if we want to enter into this field.
I apologize if am asking a regular question......As i was confused and am not able to decide which i have to learn before going to start my career in SAP XI.. and also i have knowledge on basic concepts of SAP ..please help me out how to start .please explain me in detail..please don't give links..i confused by all the blogs..please explain me....in details....sorry if i troubles u all....
    Thanks in Advance.

    Hi Swathi,
First of all, Welcome to XI
Let me try to explain you in detail:
    Q. Why Java and ABAP?
Ans. XI (now PI) is built on Java and ABAP stack, so knowledge of both will help you immensely to understand the working, tracing the error and building scenarios.
Like, for example XI's Integration Server (i.e. XI as a system) has three major components inside it, namely Adapter Engine (Based on Java), ccBPM engine (ABAP stack) and Integration Engine (Both ABAP and Java Stack)
    Q. Is there any area where we would not need the knowledge on Java or ABAP?
Ans. While Designing message mappings, exposing Webservices, designing ccBPM scenarios, what you will need is a good knowledge of SOAP, XSDs, XML, WSDL, XSLT etc, i.e. you need to have a feel of open standards to understand how XI works and where it is placed architecturally.
    Q. Where do I need Java knowledge the most?
Ans. As I am unaware of your technological background, let me assume that you know nothing of SAP.
So, if you have a descent knowledge and exposure of Java, it would help you to:
           a) Understand and resolve errors and issues in XI (mainly based on Java)
           b) Enhance the capabilities of Adapters (nothing but complex java programs)
           c) Enhancing Message Mappings (by writing Java based 'user defined functions')
           d) Writing mapping programs exclusively in Java (Java message mapping)
           e) Writing Java code to connect to any Java application (known as Java Proxies)
    Q. Where do I need ABAP knowledge the most?
Ans. XI or PI is a middleware, i.e. it interacts with applications or systems at both the ends. Primarily one of the end (back end) is SAP R/3 or ECC (advance version of SAP R/3) box. Here your knowledge in ABAP comes handy. Communication between XI and SAP takes place using core SAP technologies or formats like IDoc, RFCs or plain ABAP code (known as proxies).
Also you need to have an average knowledge of SAP ABAP (Advance Business Application Programming Language), a 4th generation language to be able to trace erros and build customized programs in SAP environment.
I hope, this would help you.
Please free to throw any doubts you still have
As you seem to be a new bie, please award points if you find this information useful.
    Thanks,
    Varun
