  • 'connect to itunes problem' HELP NEEDED

    hi, My iPod touch screen is frozen on a picture of the iTunes icon above the USB connector. I am assuming this is telling me to connect it to my iTunes. this happened after i tried downloading the 4.0 software. when i connect my ipod, i get the message 'windows needs to install driver software for your apple mobile device'.after clicking 'locate and install software'i am told i need the disc that came with my device? i didnt get a disc?! then it says that windows could not install the driver, please go to the device's manufacturer's website for help. PLEASE ANYONE?! thanks in advance

    If it's frozen, try to reset the device. If it's not actually frozen, and is simply displaying the recovery screen, you need to have iTunes running when you plug it in. That should bring up a dialog recommending a restore.

  • Datastore & Database Help Needed

    I have a question. I am an experience programmer, but in the past only used Visual Basic to program database applications. My first Java Database application is causing me trouble. I would be most grateful if you could give me some help.
    DATABASE DECLARATIONS:
    DataStore dataStore = new DataStore
    Database database = new Database();
    I am using the following JDBC connection to run SQL queries on the database.
    query.setQuery(new com.borland.dx.sql.dataset.QueryDescriptor(database,sqlStmt , null, true, Load.ALL));
    It works fine. But I am also using the data store connection to access whole tables and data. The reason being that is that I find it easier that using ResultSet's.
    aTable.setStore(dataStore);
    aTable.setStoreName(tableName);
    aTable.open();
    The problem is that I am getting errors as one connection at times is blocking another.
    One connection type does not offer all that I want. I wish to us the JDBC connection mainly only for Read (and maybe creating tables with SQL). The data store connection I wish to use to get data and manipulate it and write. Is there anyway to run an SQL statement on a Datastore without JDBC?
    How is it best to manage this? ANY HELP WILL BE VERY MUCH APPRECIATED.
    Many thanks
    Angus

    I think that the advice given here matches the same that you got at http://forum.java.sun.com/thread.jsp?forum=4&thread=188487 .
    Although their is probably a lot of people that use JBuilder here, your best bet is to go to the source (JBuilder forum).

  • Macbook 2008 and connecting to Sony Bravia-help needed!

    I have a macbook 2008 (early) and wanted to hook it up to watch on my sony bravia tv.  I have been told to get a mini DVI to hdmi and then an hdmi cable.  Is this correct and is there anyway to get sound other than purchasing another audio cable?

    Ok, based on your photo, it's a bit blurry, it looks like your TV comes with a VGA + Audio input AND HDMI + Audio input, so you get to choose which one you want to use.
    How to connect:
    VGA + Audio (Red)
    Video - A Mini-DVI - VGA adaptor, with VGA cable to TV.
    Audio - Computer headphone outlet to the Audio input, using a 3.5mm male to male stereo cable. (it looks like a 3.5mm socket on the TV, confirm on site)
    HDMI + Audio (Yellow)
    Video - A Mini-DVI - HDMI adaptor, with HDMI cable to TV
    Audio - Computer headphone outlet to the Audio IN, using a 3.5mm male to RCA male (red/white connectors) stereo cable.
    No surround sound option here, as I cannot se a TOS Link input
    Which is better?
    Your computer puts out a digital signal via the DVI, so HDMI is probably the better option. you will get a higher resolution to the TV, better for movies. Some say the VGA option is better, if you are going to use it for text.
    I mentioned earlier that you may get some audio sync issues using HDMI. That was probably more likely when I was thinking that you were going to need to use an adaptor to add the audio to the HDMI cable. As yours can be kept separate to the TV, it probably won't be as much of an issue.

  • Help needed connecting to MySQL

    Please could someone tell me how to connect to a MySQL database. I'm using Tomcat 4.0 and Forte. I just want to know where to put the database (i.e under <tomcat-install>\?? or <forte-install>\??) and how the connection works in Forte.

    MySQL goes into it's own directory (doesn't really matter where). It needs to be started separately from either Tomcat or Forte.
    In Tomcat or Forte (or any app that needs to connect to the database) you need to have a JDBC driver for Tomcat (ConnectorJ, previously known as mm-mysql, for example). The jar-file for this driver needs to be on the classpath (in Tomcat, you can put it in the master lib directory, or distribute it with each web application that needs a database connection).
    Have a look at the JDBC and ConnectorJ documentation on how to proceed from there.

  • Unable to connect to the database instance using Enterprise Manager.

    I just install Oracle 10gr2 in my computer and after successful installation created a database instance which also install successfully. I then configure the listener using Net Manager and then start the database instance, the listener and dbconsole, everything seems to work fine and checking the status of this services from the command prompt indicates everything started successfully. But when I try to use Enterprise Manager I was directed to the Database Down Page with a message unable to connect to database instance. I try to use startup and perform recovery but every time I log-in to the database an error message comes out:
    SQLEXCEPTION
    ORA-00604: error occurred at recursive SQL level 1
    ORA-12705: Cannot access NLS data files or invalid environment specified.
    It seems for Enterprise Manager to connect to the database it needs to access this NLS(National Language Support) data files or specify an environment variable to point to this data files. I am just new to Oracle and I am having difficulty solving this particular problem. Where is this data files located and how do I configure Enterprise Manager to access this NLS data Files?
    Any help however small will be highly appreciated.

    Are you able to connect to the database via SQLPlus?
    What Operating System are you using?
    Assuming Windows, can you RUN regedit to open Windows Registry and check the value or NLS_LANG when you select
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\ORACLE\KEY_<your_oracle_home>
    Examples of vaules you may find:
    1. ENGLISH_UNITED KINGDOM.WE8MSWIN1252
    2. AMERICAN_AMERICA.US7ASCII
    3. AMERICAN_AMERICA.WE8MSWIN1252
    4. FRENCH_FRANCE.WE8MSWIN1252
    5. GERMAN_GERMANY.WE8MSWIN1252
    If you are not able to connect to SQLPlus, from the command prompt try setting one of the above:
    e.g.
    D:\>set NLS_LANG=AMERICAN_AMERICA.WE8MSWIN1252
    D:\>sqlplus /nolog
    SQL>connect sysman/password

  • SQL Server Database Connectivity with Visual Studio 2012 - Help Needed

    Hello,
    I am having Visual Studio 2012 and SQL Developer 4.0 installed on my system with Windows 8 - 64bit
    I want to shift a VS project with an SQL database connectivity to another new Laptop (above mentioned) ...
    I have the project opened in VS without bieng connected to the database..
    I have a backup file of the database (which needs to be restored to a new created database on SQL Developer)
    The problem:
    I am unable to create a server connection in SQL Developer which will allow me to create a new database followed by the recovery from backup file.
    I am getting the following error message when I try to create a connection:
    Status: Faliure - IO error: The network adapter could not establish a connection
    Please help me in setting up a server connection and adding a new sql database

    The error message seemed unfamiliar to me and since I had never heard of SQL Developer before, I went to Google. Google might be pulling my legs, but it appears that SQL Developer is related to Oracle. This forum is devoted to SQL Server, so you are in the
    wrong place.
    Try finding a forum for SQL Developer.

  • Help needed in connecting to oracle database in unity

    Hi,
    I have been trying to connect to Oracle database in my codes. I have tried using OdbcConnection and OleDbconnection. But both did not allowed me to connect to the database. The database, testDb, can be accessed using SQL plus as well as the SQL developer. I even tested the connection successful using ODBC data source administrator.
    the following is my code for the connection string:
    OdbcConnection connectionString = "Driver={Oracle ODBC Driver};Server=(DESCRIPTION=(ADDRESS=(PROTOCOL=TCP )(HOST=127.0.0.1)(PORT=1521))(CONNECT_DATA=(SID=Te stDb)));Uid=scott;Pwd=password;";
    the error i got is [ODBC Driver Manager] Data Source name not found and no default driver specified.
    for the driver parameter, i have tried using "Microsoft ODBC for Oracle". It gives me another error stating that the oracle and network components are not installed.
    I even tried "Oracle in OraDb11g_home1" which was specified in the ODBC Data Source Administrator. The same error came out.
    Below are some of my specifications:
    Platform: Windows 7 64bit
    Oracle: Oracle Database 11g Release 2 (64bit)
    Unity: 4.1.2
    Can someone please help me with this? What is it that i have done wrong?
    Thanks.

  • Help needed in setting up Japanese Database

    Hi there,
    Help needed in setting up Japanese Database.
    I created database with UTF8 character set on Sun Solaris O/S.
    Oracle version 8.1.7.
    I am accessing the DB through SQL*Plus (Windows client).
    I downloaded the Japanese font on client side and also set the NLS_LANG environment variable to Japanese_Japan.UTF8. Still, I am not able to view Japanese characters. O/S on client side is Windows 2000 professional (English). Is O/S (client) need to be Japanese O/S? When I try to retrieve sysdate, its displaying in Japanese but not all characters in Japanese. Can anyone help me out how to set up the client and is there any parameters to be setup at server side? I also tried to insert japanese characters into table through client, but it displaying as "?????" characters. Any help in this regard is appreciated.
    Thanks in advance,
    -Shankar

    lol
    your program is working just fine.
    do you know what accept does? if not read below.
    serversocket.accept() is where java stops and waits for a (client)socket to connect to it.
    only after a socket has connected wil the program continue.
    try putting the accept() in its own little thread and let it wait there while your program continues in another thread

  • Connecting to a database on another machine, please help!!!!!!

    Hi there,
    I am new to oracle and at the minute I am using Oracle 9i. I have set up a database on one machine (PC2) and would like to create an odbc from another machine (PC1) to connect to this database. I have set up a listener for (PC1) the using oracle net manager on PC2. what I want to know is: is there anything else I need to do on the PC2 end???? Also, what needs to be done on the PC1 end??? please help!!!

    If everything is setup and working properly on the Server PC2, you can just test the ODBC from PC1 (assum you already have an Oracle ODBC drive).

    And i see another thing that confuses me. Your URL connection string is
    con = DriverManager.getConnection("jdbc:mysql://localhost:8080/own"); meaning that your database is in your machine and listens in port 8080 for incoming connections. But that is the default port that Tomcat listens! Maybe you should change this line to
    con = DriverManager.getConnection("jdbc:mysql://localhost:3306/own");where 3306 is MySQL's default port.
    Hope these help.

  • Help using C# application to connect to oracle database

    I'm new to database.
    I'm developing a C# GUI application in visual studio 2008 that is suppose to interact with oracle. After researching and trying out several sample codes, nothing works and I'm in desperate need of some help/advice/suggestions.
    The simplest example I'm trying is to just get a button to run a simple SQL query. The code is:
    private void button1_Click(object sender, EventArgs e)
    string oradb = "Data Source=acme.gatech.edu;User Id=gtg880f;Password=******;";
    OracleConnection conn = new OracleConnection(oradb); // C#
    conn.Open();
    OracleCommand cmd = new OracleCommand();
    cmd.Connection = conn;
    cmd.CommandText = "select Location_Name from warehouse where Location_name = 'atlanta'";
    cmd.CommandType = CommandType.Text;
    OracleDataReader dr = cmd.ExecuteReader();
    dr.Read();
    label1.Text = dr.GetString(0);
    conn.Dispose();
    I've installed many many version of oracle database and have included the Oracle.Data.Access under reference.
    If I use putty and connect to acme.gatech.edu via port 22, I can type sqlplus / and run the query "elect Location_Name from warehouse where Location_name = 'atlanta'" and it'll work.
    After some research, some say that if I can connect via sqlplus that means i can connect to the database but what do i need to implement to enable my c# code in visual studio to be able to do that.
    I did a search on the forum but found nothing that matches this. In essence, I'm not sure what/how to specify such that I can connect to the acme.gatech.edu server and run sql commands.
    Thanks,
    Oky Sabeni

    There're two ways you can get data in and out of database using .NET
    #1 System.Data.OracleClient namespace - it's .NET avail out of the box
    #2 Oracle.DataAccess.Client - aka "ODP.NET"
                   Download: http://www.oracle.com/technology/software/tech/windows/odpnet/index.html
    Or download Beta because as of today it's the only version which supports .NET "TransactionScope" (I just tested seems like still it is NOT working Re: 10g Express + ODP.NET (version 2.111.6.20) > support TransactionScope? http://www.oracle.com/technology/software/tech/windows/odpnet/index1110710beta.html
    QuickStart: http://www.installationwiki.org/ODP.NET_Getting_Started_Guide
    Also there's a doc under Start menu>Programs>Oracle - OraOdac11g_BETA_home>Application Development>"Oracle Data Provider for .NET Developer's Guide"
    It's worth reading just scroll down quick for code fragment.
    Anyway here's two small examples:
    Example 1: System.Data.OracleClient (Using library from M$)
              * First you'll need to add reference to "System.Data.OracleClient".
              IDbFactory oDbFactory = DbProviderFactories.GetFactory("System.Data.OracleClient");
              IDbConnection oConn = oDbFactory.CreateConnection();
              oConn.ConnectionString = "Data Source=(DESCRIPTION=(ADDRESS=(PROTOCOL=TCP)(HOST=MyHost)(PORT=MyPort))(CONNECT_DATA=(SERVICE_NAME=MyOracleSID)));User Id=myUsername;Password=myPassword;";
              // Or ...
              oConn = new System.Data.OracleClient.OracleConnection("Data Source=(DESCRIPTION=(ADDRESS=(PROTOCOL=TCP)(HOST=MyHost)(PORT=MyPort))(CONNECT_DATA=(SERVICE_NAME=MyOracleSID)));User Id=myUsername;Password=myPassword;");
         Example 2: ODP.NET from Oracle
              IDbFactory oDbFactory = DbProviderFactories.GetFactory("Oracle.DataAccess.Client");
              IDbConnection oConn = oDbFactory.CreateConnection();
              oConn.ConnectionString = "Data Source=(DESCRIPTION=(ADDRESS_LIST=(ADDRESS=(PROTOCOL=TCP)(HOST=MyHost)(PORT=MyPort)))(CONNECT_DATA=(SERVER=DEDICATED)(SERVICE_NAME=MyOracleSID)));User Id=myUsername;Password=myPassword;";
              // Or ...
              oConn = new Oracle.DataAccess.Client.OracleConnection("Data Source=(DESCRIPTION=(ADDRESS_LIST=(ADDRESS=(PROTOCOL=TCP)(HOST=MyHost)(PORT=MyPort)))(CONNECT_DATA=(SERVER=DEDICATED)(SERVICE_NAME=MyOracleSID)));User Id=myUsername;Password=myPassword;");
    string strSQL = "... SQL statement...";
              int nPersonId = 0;
              string strFirstName = null;
              Person oPerson = null;
              string strSQL = "SELECT Id FROM PERSON";
              oCmd = oConn.CreateCommand();
              oCmd.CommandText = strSQL;
              oCmd.CommandType = System.Data.CommandType.Text;
              IDataReader oRdr = oCmd.ExecuteReader();
              while (oRdr.Read())
                   if (!Convert.IsDBNull(oRdr["Id"]))
                        nPersonId = (int) oRdr["Id"];
                   if (!Convert.IsDBNull(oRdr["FirstName"]))
                        strFirstName = (string)oRdr["FirstName"];
                   oPerson.Id = nPersonId;
                   oPerson.FirstName = strFirstName;
    Example CREATE TABLE:
              DECLARE
              count_item int;
              BEGIN
                   SELECT count(1) into count_item FROM user_sequences WHERE sequence_name = 'AUDITLOGSEQUENCE';

         Before running script, make sure your account has permission (unless you're using SYS account of course). You'd probably need to know how to create user and granther right:
              CREATE USER dev IDENTIFIED BY "devacc_@";
              GRANT CREATE SESSION TO DEV;
              GRANT DBA TO DEV;
         Here's how you can run PL\SQL scripts in Oracle
         SQL*Plus: Release 10.2.0.1.0 - Production on Mon Apr 6 14:10:05 2009

              Connected.
              SQL> set serveroutput on
              SQL> @C:\dev\UnitTest\Util\Command\sql\Oracle\SetupSchema\xxxxx.oracle.tables.sql

              SQL> COMMIT;
         Remeber however:
              (a) SQL*Plus does not like "&" in your SQL script. Do comment or string containing "&" should be taken out.
              (b) password should not contain "@" because it's a special character in "CONNECT" command.
                   Alternative, download TOAD for Oracle - http://www.toadsoft.com/toad_oracle.htm
              (c) After command, type "/" next line to get command executed.
              (d) remember to COMMIT
