Connecting audio out of TV to sound c

Hey,
I have the audigy 2 platinum card. Today I connected the audio out from the tv to the sound card. What I got was some background noice and a delay. What ever was being said through the tv's speakers would come out through the computer's speaker with a second or two of delay. Basically I connected the cables to the tv's out and to the aux 2 in. Am I doing something wrong? Is there another way to connect the sound to come out through the computer's speaker without the delay? Thanks in advance for the help.

Are these articles any help?

Incidentally, if you have any future questions about your iPod video, can you post in this forum http://discussions.apple.com/forum.jspa?forumID=808 as the forum you are in now is for older non colour iPods.

  • Some of the audio out of my mac sounds as if there's a reverb effect on top

Mostly on videos, using VLC and quicktime it sounds as though there's a reverb/delay effect on top of the audio.. it's really annoying... haven't noticed it in any DAW's such as Ableton Live/Reason or Logic just in things like itunes,safari,vlc,quicktime.. it's quite strange

the problem persists no matter what i'm using. I've used my monitor pair(m-audio bx5a's), the inbuilt speakers and a pair of headphones...
I believe it has something to do with the inbuilt soundcard as when i attach an external soundcard to the bx5a's there is no reverb..
I just did a test two seconds ago.
Basically, i opened up ableton live (standard DAW) and put a kick drum beat on loop.
The output config was simply 'built in output'.
I first listened back on the monitors via the headphone out... bass drum has reverb on it.. out of nowhere?!
repeated the process with my headphones via the headphone-out .. same tail of reverb.. again out of nowhere.
I then repeated the process with just the inbuilt speakers.. again lots of tail..
Having done all this i attached my numark omni control midi controller which has an inbuilt sound card plugged the monitors into the output of the controller.. bass drum comes out clean as a whistle...
ugh.. hope there isn't some sort of sound card related dilemma..
being a music technology student facing this problem is both embarrassing and frustrating!!! not many people would notice it in the first place!!!
So far i've considered two possible reasons for my dilemma-
    1. There's something wrong with my internal sound card
    2. I've installed some piece of software or changed some setting within some random piece of software that's effected all of the audio out of the inbuilt card...
man alive, it's annoying whatever it is.

  • What would happen if you connected audio out to audio in?

the audio in/out ports on the back -- what would happen if you connected them? if i were, say, playing a youtube video and had an audio editing app open, would it record the audio? (yes, i'm aware that there are better ways to capture said audio but i'm just wondering if this is what would happen.) or would the computer explode?
    Message was edited by: MontereyMatt

There should not be any problem with doing that. The audio output is just regular output, so it would be the same as plugging in an iPod to the audio input.
But as you said, there are better ways to record the audio the iMac is currently playing.

  • Audio out jack only plays sound in the right speaker.

Whenever I plug anything (speakers, earphones, etc.) into the Audio Output jack, it only plays sound through the right speaker/earphone. The left speaker/earphone hardly has any sound at all.
How should I go about fixing this problem?
It ***** and it's annoying. At first, I thought it was just my earphones but they work perfectly fine with my iPod and other devices.

    HI Chris,
my daughter has the ipod touch 4th generation and it started only having sound come out of the right speakers in both of my vehicles.  I read also it could be a broken socket causing it.  Do you know about this?  How does one break a socket and how would I repair that?  The person on y*hoo answers said to either send it to apple refurbished unit or replace it.  Replace it?  Really?  It's a 64 GB ipod touch that I won at work with reward points which is the only reason I could afford it.  Looking for better solution like your's above but I'm worried I will have to send it in.  I was looking on my iphone 4 and noticed the volume balance was under Settings>General>Accessibility so I guess it's different on an ipod touch?

  • Cable to connect audio out to TV?

What kind of cable do I need to get audio from my iBook G4 to play (along w/ the video, whose cable I have) through my TV? Is it this 1:

Yes, the one in that link would work, but you could also get one through another vendor, such as Amazon:

I picked up one at Target for $10 or less.

  • Satellite laptop: connecting video out to projector causes hum in (headset) audio output

Our church connects video output from the laptop to a projection system and audio out (via headset jack) to a sound board mono channel (line in).  Stereo to mono adapter.  We get a significant hum in the audio whenever the video cable is plugged in.  Doesn't matter whether the attached projection equipment is on or off, it's all about plugging the video cable into the laptop.  Unplug the video cable and the hum disappears.  Obviously we have tried all sorts of things to isolate the problem but it all comes back to plugging in that video cable.  We made sure there were no nearby power supplies or other equipment that might throw out interference.  Has anyone ever encountered this problem and  have any suggestions?  Thanks in advance for any help you can offer.

Using a Satellite PSBY1U laptop.  Video out is not HDMI but the other (VGA?) connector.  We are connecting audio out from the headset jack direct to a mixer channel.  No microphone is connected to the laptop.  We looked at every sound and video-related menu we could find and could not see any settings that would seem to be relevant to the problem (we changed lots of settings anyway and nothing helped).  Naturally we played with audio volumes, different auto cables, etc.  Bottom line is we get clean audio until we plug the video cable into the laptop, then we get a very prominent hum from the audio output.  Video cable goes straight to a projector, doesn't matter whether the projector is turned on or off.  The audio and video cables are never closer than four inches from each other.  It's weird.

  • Why doesn't the Belkin Thunderbolt Express Dock relay sound from it's audio out port?

Posted to Belkin Support community to no avail

Why can't my Belkin Thunderbolt Express Dock operate my desktop speakers?
    Options
    07-14-2014 01:48 PM
Bought a Belkin Thunderbolt Express Dock at the Apple Store to use with my new MacBook Pro.
When I connected it to my
    -20" Mac Cinema display,
-Various USB connected hubs and devices,
    -Various Firewire hubs and devices
-My ethernet network from my Cable Modem
Then made the last connection from the Dock to the Thunderbolt port on the MacBook Pro...
    All was fine.
But when I made that one last connection - to my desktop speakers via the audio-out port on the dock (earphones icon) nothing happened.  The dock did not pick up the audio from the laptop playng an iTunes song or send it to the desktop speakers.  When I unplugged the audio cable from the Dock and plugged it in to the MacBook Pro directly, the desktop speakers kicked right in again.
Does Thunderbolt pick up audio-out from a MacBook Pro and carry it to the Dock for connection to my desktop speakers?
Of for some reason, can that signal not be carried by Thunderbolt?
Will I have to get used to the onerous task of unplugging 2 cables from my MacBook Pro when I want to more it to another location in stead of just 1 cable?
But stay with me.  Here's the thing.
When this happened I called Belkin Customer Support to ask if they could help me.  After taking me through their steps, they agreed that the unit must be defective and agreed to ship me a replacement Thunderbolt Express Dock.
The replacement arrived over the weekend and when I shut down my system and then plugged everything from Dock I purchased into the replacement Thunderbird Express Dock - - - - - the same thing happened!
No signal to the speakers from the dock.  Perfect signal when the plug moved from the Dock to the computer itself.
    Hence my question:
Does Thunderbolt pick up audio-out from a MacBook Pro and carry it to the Dock for connection to my desktop speakers?
    Can it accomplish that function?
Am I really that unlucky to have received 2 defective new Belkin Thunderbolt Express Docks in a row?
Or is it simply a matter of the Dock not handling audio throughput in the manner I am expecting.
Then again, if this is the case, why did the Belkin techies not know this when I called them in the first place.
Yes, I'm going on and on here.  But I really don't have time for this.
    What's going on here?

OK.  No reason to be playing games here.  Just surprised that this issue hasn't been brought up here on the community boards as well.  Here's the simple solution

After reaching a Level III technician in Belkin customer support today and having spent approximately 4-5 person hours on this issue, we figured out that the Sound/Output preferences in the Apple System Preferences should not be set to "Internal Speakers"  but rather set to "USB PnP Sound Device".
Worked like a charm.  Simple, elegant solution to a real problem, one likely to be encountered by 90% of the people who buy a Belkin Thunderbid Express Dock off the shelves of any Apple Store to use with a current generation Apple laptop or desktop computer.
But the Level III Belkin technician admmtted that this critical little piece of simple, straightforward information should have been readily available to their Level 1 techies who began helping me 5 person hours ago.  Would even have saved Balkin loads of customer service support time.
    And so the saga ends
Belkin owes me for helping them learn this precious lesson.

  • Audio Out hissing interference from speakers when connecting VGA/DVI lead

    Hi
If I connect my mac air to an amp with speakers via an audio out lead then I get great sound. As soon as I additionaly connect the Mac Air to my LCD TV via the VGA or DVI cables I get this annoying hissing sound that gets louder if I turn the volume up.
I have swapped my audio lead for another but still the same problem.
I used to use the same audio/video leads with an old laptop and had no problems. I assume that the issue is due to the fact that the audio and video connector on the Mac Air are very close to eachother.
Has anyone else had a similer issue or can suggest any alternatives or resolutions? Many thanks.

Thanks for the pointer. Unfortunately it didn't work for me either. I guessed from your original post and got the Monster® iCableLink™ Headphone Adapter for iPhone™ cable. It appears to be a 3.5mm to 3.5mm adapter, which seems odd.
However it doesn't stop the buzzing. What I found did help a bit was to turn the volume on the mac all the way to the top and adjust the volume on the amp to listening volume. That kept the buzzing fairly tame at normal listening volumes.
Any other suggestions would be great.

  • Does anyone use Optical Audio out to connect studio monitors?

I am planning to snatch a Mac Mini as my studio upgrade. I am also planning on buying some studio monitors (as opposed to just regular speakers). I was wondering what people use to get great, accurate results for under $600. The Mini can achieve optical audio out, apparently. Are there studio monitors that use digital, optical audio as a means to connect? How do fellow Logic home studio users have their audio out set up?

    Scroto Saggins wrote:
well, optical is digital (right?), so wouldnt it be the only way to get the best, uncolored sound out of a Mac? what other (better) options are there? I started this topic because I dont really notice studio monitors that use optical, and I am wondering why? Whats the downside?
Because the ones that do, are way over the budget of most people on this forum.
    I have this pair :
    http://www.jblpro.com/catalog/General/Product.aspx?PId=28&MId=5
They retail at around 1500 per pair. They are not the most expensive ones out there, rather the less expensive ones with digital inputs.

  • Audio Out to Surround Sound

Does anyone know of a cable that can convert the audio out on a MacBook Pro to 5.1 surround sound? I have a Logitech G51 speaker system and would like to use it with my computer.

Ok, based on what i know you are not able to purchase any one cord to deliver 5.1 surround sound. What you can do though and rather inexpensively for a entry level ($30-$60 on Amazon) is purchase a USB external sound card. Once you download the drivers for the usb device you can connect the logitec speakers to the sound card and enjoy the 5.1 channel surround sound. Hope this helps!

  • No sound from rear audio out port?

    Hey guys.
I am trying to troubleshoot a sound issue with a Vista Home Basic machine.
I can't really give you all the MOBO specs etc because I am not currently in front of the machine. I can however confirm that it is using a Realtek chipset and is configured using the Realtek Sound Manager software.
I am really just wanting to use basic sound (i.e. just speaker, not 5., 7. etc).
I am trying to make use of an old stereo system by using a 3.5mm aux jack to dual RCA (white and red) plugs.
I can get sound when I plug the aux jack into the front earphones port but I cannot get sound when I try and use the analogue audio out (lime green) port at the rear of the machine. Vista states that it is working correctly and has a tick next to the speakers but no sound is produced by the speakers.
The MOBO has the following available audio connectors:
Analogue = Mic in (Pink) Audio in (light blue) Audio out (lime green)
Centre Speaker (Orange) Rear Surround (Black) Mid Surround (Grey)
    Digital = x SPDIF
You may ask at this point, why not just use the front headphones jack? Well, the problem is that it seems to be very sensiti've in that Vista keeps reporting that the jack is cycling between a connected and disconnected state.
I also cannot use the SPDIF, as the old stereo only supports aux left and right RCA.
Also, when I try and get one of the rear ports to work, I have made sure that nothing is connected to the sound ports at the front as I know that this can cause problems.
When I plug in the 3.5mm jack into the green port, the Realtek sound manager kicks in and says that "a jack as been connected". I then confirm that I have infact connected the jack to the rear audio out port. I then follow the steps in the wizard but am not able to get sound.
I made sure that I used the most basic settings (i.e. speakers and not 5. etc).
I even tried the grey, black and orange ports (even though I know they are used for surround sound setups) and still no luck.
One interesting setting I did notice was that in Winamp, I had to select the "allow mono speaker" setting to have it play sound through the front headphones port.
However, when I was configuring the rear green port in the Realtex Sound Manager software, there was no mono option. There was only stereo, 5., 7. and some quad....... thing.
Any ideas guys on how to get the rear green port working?
I am wondering if it has something to with a connector on the MOBO. But as I said, Vista and Realtek manager seem to report that all is well.
    My thanks in advance.

  • Longer cable (6') connecting female RCA L R Audio Out to Headphones In 3.5 on Vizio 32"?

What I want to do, since although the Vizio manual and the Best Buy sales rep, looking at the Vizio E320i-AO thought it came with a heandphone jack, it DOES NOT.   It does have, where the manual thought the headphone jack was,  L and R Audio Out ports.  My question concerns if anyone can suggest a 6' or so cable that would allow me, then, to connect Volume Out on my TV to Volume In to my headphones.  Thank you.

OK.  Apologies.  I ordered the wrong cable, based on a sales rep's suggestion and my not paying attention: more my fault than his.  Anyway, got the order cancelled.   The suggestion given to me is to get a 3" two RCA males to 1 3.5mm female.  And then find a cable with a female and a male 3.5 ends.  If anyone has been reading any of my posts, I offer my apologies.  I am back to square one.

My daughter has had her Razr for about 9 months now.  About two weeks ago she picked up her phone in the morning on her way to school when she noticed two cracks, both starting at the camera lens. One goes completely to the bottom and the other goes sharply to the side. She has never dropped it and me and my husband went over it with a fine tooth comb. We looked under a magnifying glass and could no find any reason for the glass to crack. Not one ding, scratch or bang. Our daughter really takes good care of her stuff, but we still wanted to make sure before we sent it in for repairs. Well we did and we got a reply from Motorola with a picture of the cracks saying this was customer abuse and that it is not covered under warranty. Even though they did not find any physical damage to back it up. Well I e-mailed them back and told them I did a little research and found pages of people having the same problems. Well I did not hear from them until I received a notice from Fed Ex that they were sending the phone back. NOT FIXED!!! I went to look up why and guess what there is no case open any more for the phone. It has been wiped clean. I put in the RMA # it comes back not found, I put in the ID #, the SN# and all comes back not found. Yet a day earlier all the info was there. I know there is a lot more people like me and all of you, but they just don't want to be bothered so they pay to have it fix, just to have it do it again. Unless they have found the problem and only fixing it on a customer pay only set up. I am furious and will not be recommending this phone to anyone. And to think I was considering this phone for my next up grade! NOT!!!!
